Well, you've read the notes, the notes had a surprising twist that made you want to shout, and now it is time for you to post until the twisting and shouting cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is APPRECIATIVE!
-
Notes imbibed, contemplated.

So yesterday, I took the time to put my new vanity into my little downstairs powder room, and I did it all by myself! However, nothing's actually hooked up yet. I still need to get some silicone sealant, two flexible connector pipes, and the drain pipe. Fortunately, those are all fairly inexpensive and in stock. Then, I'll have a working sink again!
-
Here's what it looks like...but don't look too closely at the floor. I have to get a whole new floor for the entire downstairs and that's not going to happen for quite a while. Anyway, here's the vanity:
-
And here's a close-up of the sink and faucet:
-
I also still need to put up the mirror that my sister gave me, but I needed to know how the vanity fit in there before I could figure out where the mirror would go.
-
It's not an incredibly "special" design, but it was on sale for about $300 off, so that definitely was the deciding factor! Good enough for me!
-
AND the top drawer actually opens! It's not just a fake panel:
-
I don't know if I've ever seen anything like that. If I have I certainly don't remember it.
-
Vanity insanity! That looks cool. I like the drawer and how it goes around the pipe. I dislike fake drawers. Drawers should be honest.
-
Honest drawers is a necessity!
-
Good morning, friends.
-
From what I have now read, it appears the Megan Follows version of Anne is far superior to all other versions. Perhaps I will discontinue the one I started.
-
Did you know that cats have 32 different muscles in each ear - all to help them ignore you? 8)
-
Very smart looking vanity, DR George. I also love the honest drawer.
~~~INSTALLATION & CONNECTION VIBES~~~~
-
Good morning, all!
-
Hold the press!
I am alive. My neck is still a bit stiff, and my body is aching, but all is well. I am really grateful that the fall could have been serious, even deadly, and I came out of it pretty much intact: no blood and no broken anything.
-
Even though I felt pretty bad, three cats give no damn. I still had to feed them and myself, then clean up mess we both made, and give them their treat before I could strip down to my skivvies and chill out.
-
I still think Andrew Lloyd-Webber missed by not writing Aspects of Aspics.
-
Glad you are OK, DR elmore3003.
-
Around 7:00, I started thinking about today. I would have preferred tp stay in bed all day, but Annabelle, Thatch, and Stella care little about my health, so I decided to sleep late as I dared: 6:15a.m., and I set the alarm. brushed the catys, and went to bed at 8:00.
-
And at 9:30 my neighbor called - she's getting an email today - to tell me she had lugged up two cartons of Chewy.com and they were outside my door. The call gave her a chance to let me know what hell it was on her health as well.
-
Well! I never asked her to drag those cartons up. I knew it was something I needed to deal with today, and if they sat in the lobby for a couple of days, so be it.
The Petsmart, Petco and Chewy cartons never get stolen.
-
So here's a question for all today: how do you feel about telephone calls after,. say, 6:00p.m.?
-
Today I must tidy, take the trash to the basement, pick up yesterday's mail, and work on the ballet for a bit. In the late afternoon, I need a long, hot bath.
-
Glad you are OK, DR elmore3003.
Thanks!
-
I no longer have a land line, so late night calls are not a bother. I can choose to turn my cell off or leave it where I can't hear it.
-
But anyone who know me knows that I go to bed early, so they don't call anyway.
-
One more.
-
TWO.
-
So here's a question for all today: how do you feel about telephone calls after,. say, 6:00p.m.?
All my phone calls are after 6 pm
-
You often to go to bed before I’ve even eaten dinner
-
Phone calls after 10 pm are too late for me now
-
Although they used to be the norm when I was in my 20’s
-
Back then we didn’t even head out for the evening until about 9 or 10
-
I am glad you are ok , if a bit sore, Elmore
-
I am glad you are ok , if a bit sore, Elmore
Thank you, dear! And here's my thought for the day:
-
Maybe I should Wordle
-
Good morning, all.
-
Must stir. But I don’t feel like it.
-
Very true, DR elmore3003. And the "Trump Water" he was handing out was discontinued in 2010, meaning the chemicals in the plastic bottles have been leeching into that water for 13 years. It is recommended not to drink water from plastic bottles that is more than 2 years old.
I bought a new pillow at Costco yesterday. It’s heavy as anything, but it was quite comfortable. Has a cooling pad. Can’t remember the name.
Plenty of music. Bells sounded good.
-
Good morning.
I still think Andrew Lloyd-Webber missed by not writing Aspects of Aspics.
I'd be trading in those tickets.
-
Today I am in the nursery at church. Last week I was in the kitchen. It seems I only hear about half of the sermons any more.
-
Hi Everyone! there's a new Broadway Radio Show: the always fun David Levy joins me to play some terrific covers of Stephen Sondheim show tunes. Check it out!
I sent Judy an email earlier this morning, and she just called me back. All is good.
A devout Christian is visited on night by the devil
-
He says “I will grant you long life”
-
“I will grant you good health”
-
“I will grant you love”
-
‘I will grant you riches and fame”
-
The Christian says,” what’s the catch? What do I have to give you.”
-
“Not much “ says the devil, “ just give up half you ability to hear”
-
The Christian is sorely tempted
-
He says,” let me think about it, come back tomorrow night”
-
The next morning the Christian goes to church
-
He says to his pastor,” I’ve been tempted by the devil and I am seeking your guidance”
-
The pastor said,” SPEAK UP, I CAN HARDLY HEAR YOU!”
-
Good morning, all.
-
I indulged in a very long leisurely morning. Very long. And very leisurely.
-
That's an excellent one, vixmom.
-
Very glad to hear (see what I did there?) that DR Elmore suffered no ill effects from his fall.
-
I saw Goody VIXMOM with the devil!
-
Blurb vibes for MR BK.
-
Good news all around for DR ELMORE.
-
I also am a great fan of Megan Follows as Anne and Colleen Dewhurst as Marilla!
-
I rarely receive telephone calls after 6 p.m. during the theatre off season.....which is now.
-
I saw Goody VIXMOM with the devil!
I did naught but dance!
-
I also am a great fan of Megan Follows as Anne and Colleen Dewhurst as Marilla!
The entire series really was perfectly cast
-
Well it seems that now folks do revivals so that the show can now belong to them....
Joe Blow's - 1776
Cindy Sawhorse's - Some Like It Hot
DR John, I have not seen Aftertaste.
Jack Randall's PAGE FOUR!
Directed by Rob Ashford. So we are actually including some Page 2 posts to juice it up a bit.
From Vixmom:
I loved the mid 1980’s Anne of a Green Gable series with Megan Follows as Anne
As did I.
-
"Phone calls." I'm not familiar with this term.
-
From George:
Once, I even told her that I thought that I'd heard that she had breast implants. She wasn't fazed. She just said nope...they were natural.
:))
-
Here's what it looks like...but don't look too closely at the floor. I have to get a whole new floor for the entire downstairs and that's not going to happen for quite a while. Anyway, here's the vanity:
It is a perfect fit. I look forward to the photo once you have the new mirror on the wall.
Cool, and explains why the sink isn't very deep.
-
Vanity insanity! That looks cool. I like the drawer and how it goes around the pipe. I dislike fake drawers. Drawers should be honest.
Or at least tilt out if they don't pull out.
Was Andrew Lloyd-Webber's "Cinderella" re-named "Bad Cinderella" for the U.S. market?
-
New tagline: She's bad. She's really bad.
-
Joking.
-
Sort of.
One more.
-
"Cindy" the black-cast Cinderella TV movie from the '70s was a formative viewing experience for me.
Was Andrew Lloyd-Webber's "Cinderella" re-named "Bad Cinderella" for the U.S. market?
Yes, it was. That also means that the song "Bad Cinderella" is now the title song.
-
I was really happy to see that Morgan le Fey is still in the Lincoln Center Camelot. Maybe I do want to see it now.
Well, that's Nimue's song. Morgan leFey is the candy-gobbling witch who helps her nephew Mordred in Act Two.
Enough candy I'll bring
To furnish a new wing.
Of course you’re correct DR Elmore.
-
I have seen productions that drastically reduced Fie on Goodness! which angered me. Fie on that!
-
Enjoyed the Great Performances documentary about the Kathleen Battle/Jessye Norman spirituals concert from Carnegie Hall in 1990.
That's an excellent one, vixmom.
Indeed.
Now reading about preserved lemons.
Because I'm just a sucker
For a sweet/tart pucker.
I’ve never been to Plucker’s
-
But I have been to Fuddrucker’s.
-
Something about chickens and cluckers, I suppose.
-
But I’ve never been to me.
-
Six!
-
Fuddruckers - they used to have a really great burger.
-
They may still have. I have not been to one in ages.
-
They may still have. I have not been to one in ages.
Phil Romano started the chain here in San Antonio. Also Romano’s Macaroni Grill.
-
And here are Morgan le fey (M'el Dowd),and Mordred (Roddy McDowell) in "The Persuasion."
-
Something about chickens and cluckers, I suppose.
That reminds me of this:
I am a mother pheasant plucker. I am the most pleasant mother pheasant plucker ever to pluck a mother pheasant.
Try saying that quickly out loud! :)
-
Well, this is really cool: Canon in D but it keeps getting jazzier (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lpc1lEJ-SRc).
This was posted in March of last year. The pianist, Hiromi Uehara, was in high school at the time!
-
That's a nice vanity DR GEORGE.....with Godot faucets.
-
You turn the water on.....and wait.....
-
LOL DR RODZINSKI.
-
I played Mordred once.....I don't think I have a photograph....for which you all should be grateful.
-
Enjoyed the Great Performances documentary about the Kathleen Battle/Jessye Norman spirituals concert from Carnegie Hall in 1990.
Where was this? On the TV? I'll go look.
I have the recording but I never saw a documentary.
Found it! And the DVR is set to record it.
-
That's a nice vanity DR GEORGE.....with Godot faucets.
Thanks, Jrand!
-
But I'm about to get ready to go out into the wilds of Tumwater in search of hoses and pipes so that it can be a working vanity...and earn its keep!
-
I was at a Fuddrucker's exactly once, and I liked it fine but they disappeared after that.
This one was in Westport or Fairfield. A friend and I stopped in there one day during the first year I was living here, so, 1989-1990. I don't know of any other location in this region, but I haven't looked, either. Are they still in business?
-
I played Mordred once.....I don't think I have a photograph....for which you all should be grateful.
My first show with The Abbey Players (RIP) and my first performance on the Washington Center's main stage was in Camelot. That was a fun experience...didn't (and don't) love the show, but had a great time.
-
I've never been to Fuddrucker's. They're not around here.
-
So now some mother trucker in the professional weather guessing business is saying we could get as little as three to five inches or as much as two feet.
Hello? You can't do ANY better than that in forecasting? Yes, I know it's two days out, but come on.
For now, I shall hope it's one of those hyped up storms that sometimes happens late in the season, and turns out to be nothing at all to write home about. I've seen a few of those in my time.
-
I no longer have a land line, so late night calls are not a bother. I can choose to turn my cell off or leave it where I can't hear it.
Agreed. I usually set my phone to airplane mode, so my alarm on it can wake me up.
We have our phones set to do not disturb at night. I didn't realize changing to airplane mode would also silence it. I will have to remember that.
-
Finished a movie, Death of a Cyclist - never saw it - very good movie
-
Went to Gelson's early and got lox. Then I got cream cheese and bagels from Western Bagel and that's what I had for food.
-
Will try to find something else to watch.
-
Why not?
-
It's a relaxing day, after all.
-
It just is.
-
Don't tell me otherwise.
It doesn't silence it, per se, but it doesn't allow phone calls or notifications to come through and disturb me. The alarm will sound because it's cones from the phone itself.
-
I watched The Whale.
-
Finished a movie, Death of a Cyclist - never saw it - very good movie
It sounds sad.
I think if I set an alarm it will go off even when I have the do not disturb on. I should check to be sure.
-
Our phones are off from 9:00pm to 8:00am. Now that we no longer have a land line I hope we don't miss any important calls at night. So far we haven't missed anything we didn't want to miss.
-
I watched The Whale.
I was just about to answer you question from last night.
-
DR Jrand, what did you think of The Whale?
-
I hope Brendon Fraser wins for best actor.
-
We met friends for lunch today. It was nice to see them and get out.
-
Lunch was at McMenamins on the river.
-
The river was rather busy today.
-
First the most colorful, very pretty, collection of sailboats sailed past us.
-
Then another group with more tradition white sales, as well as black ones, sailed by.
-
Best of all, we saw about 5 sea lions splashing in the water in front of us :)
-
Finished a movie, Death of a Cyclist - never saw it - very good movie
It sounds sad.
It is. He dies trying to avoid a lonely long-distance runner.
-
Fuddruckers was good and exciting back in the 1990s. Build your own burger, lots of good toppings, etc. then it went to hell like so many things. All the ones I knew are closed.
-
Gelson's has fresh lox every Sunday - it's tolerable.
-
I only went once to Fuddruckers - it certainly had its moment.
-
We used to go to Fuddruckers quite often back in the day
-
It had a butcher section and you could buy raw burgers to bring home
-
It disappeared a long time ago, though
-
I enjoyed the play , it was well acted, and the set was very good
-
The subject matter was very heavy but i felt like it was handled well
-
Then we went to Lillians in Union Square for dinner
-
My friend Robyn and i were both debating between the skirt steak and gnocchi
-
In the end we each ordered one gave each other half
-
Then we wondered over to a lityle place called Spot Dessert Bar over on St Marks between 2 & 3
-
It was amszing
-
It was amszing
-
Beautiful.
-
I googled the menu and was going to have the lava cake, and ask if they had vanilla or coffee ice cream instead of green tea.
-
Then I saw they have Pastel De Natas. OMG, I want one of those.
-
DR Vixmom you really need to say what everything was.
-
The menu
-
I just saw that on FB ;D
-
What was in the bowls?
-
I had nutella hot chocolate and my friends each had the brown sugar macha latte ( Lisa's hadnt been served yet when i took the picture)
-
Are those cups then and I just can't see the handles?
-
I just saw that on FB ;D
Ive discovered if something is too big to post here I can post it on FB then copy the imsge from FB back to my phone and that often shrinks it enough to fit here
-
Yes
The greatest food on the planet, maybe. Up there with radishes and oysters.
Back to The Fablemans.
-
Good night, friends.
-
I really liked The Fablemans, especially the ending. David Lynch was an inspired choice. Jeannie Berlin was also wonderful.
-
Jane, I doubt you have liked the chicken-fried oysters I had today. Chicken-fried anything is a Texas treat, but I particularly love a good chicken-fried oyster.
-
Starting Aftertaste. The beginning is fun.
-
Need that chestnut butterscotch thingie.
-
Walter Mirisch has died at 101. Great run.
-
I need to get to bed.
-
Oysters. Or ersters.
-
I’m ready for bed.
But let’s get off this page first.
Not interested in the oysters, nor the ersters. :P
-
But otherwise, it's a great picture, John!
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
Will attempts be made?
-
To get us to TEN?
-
It may be impossible.
-
They say it can’t be done.
-
Are “they” right?
-
After storytime, the kids and I usually watch a couple short videos.
-
Tonight I showed them the “I Want To Eat Your Face” segment of The Creature Wasn’t Nice.
-
They enjoyed it. Though I had to tell them that we later find Dr. Stark was not actually eaten.
-
My son wanted a rather detailed explanation. I came up with the idea that it turns out the people the creature eats are merely absorbed and later when the creature is defeated, everyone he ate returns to normal.
-
That will have to do for now.
-
My son wanted a rather detailed explanation. I came up with the idea that it turns out the people the creature eats are merely absorbed and later when the creature is defeated, everyone he ate returns to normal.
Someday he'll learn the truth. Hopefully, he won't mind being lied to. ;)
-
But then, you do what'cha gotta do. :)
-
It’s so damn funny when Dr. Stark is entering the glass case with the creature, and they’re yelling to stop him, and Leslie Nielsen blurts out the line Cindy had said seconds earlier, “This creature wants to eat the face of history!”
-
I suspect he already knows.
But I'm about to get ready to go out into the wilds of Tumwater in search of hoses and pipes so that it can be a working vanity...and earn its keep!
So, I did go to the local Home Depot, and I actually went twice.
;D
-
I didn't get everything the first time, so I went back to get the screw part thing that connects the pipe that comes out from under the sink to the pipe that comes out of the wall.
-
When I was there the first time, I didn't know what size to get.
-
So, I came home and measured...a 1-3/4" screw part thing.
-
HOWEVER, when I went back the second time and looked, they only seemed to have 1-1/4" and 1-1/2" screw part things!
-
WHAT?? :o
-
I looked all around, but didn't notice any larger sizes.
-
I think when I go back, I'll have to ask someone about it.
-
My friend Shelly said that she'd go with me so that we both can look around before asking.
-
I'm afraid we did not get to page ten.
-
If it turns out that they don't have the correct size, I wonder if it might be because standard sizes have changed since my place was built (1987).
-
Hard to do when George doesn't show up until after midnight.
-
I'm afraid we did not get to page ten.
Yes, we did!
-
And when TCB continues to be in absentia.
-
And we got here because?
-
New notes are up.
-
