Well, you've read the notes, the notes were lazy, and now it is time for you to post until the lazy cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: MARVEL!

Notes ingested, digested.

Like Dr. Stark.

You’ve made me rethink Witness, which I think I saw in the theatres at a time I was a cantankerous teen who did not like mainstream fare. I didn’t recall it was a Peter Weir film, a guy I came to admire.
-
From last night...I really hope that I can find the right size coupling screw part thing because I don't want to have to call (and pay for) a plumber to fix that one little thing.

I remember seeing it in the theater and thinking that it was a very good movie...AND Patti LuPone was in it! ;D
-
Just watched that police station scene. Chills!

Should be non-standard fittings out there. You might need to get from a plumbing supply place rather than Home Despot.

Good morning friends.
-
We're well on our way to page ten now!

Hoping DR TCB is OK.

I remember seeing Witness once and liking it. I'll have to give it another watch.

What other Patti LuPone Amish films are out there?

Good morning, all!

I wanted to sleep in, but I have to see my urologist this morning, and I needed to be up early to accomplish my housekeeping chores before I step out. I am not happy with my Access-a-Ride pickup time, and that concerns me. I wanted it to be 15 minutes earlier than I got, so if the driver is late, it could be bad.
-
I sure hope DR TCB will be back with us soon.
-
Good morning to everyone. I hope everyone has a great week,

DR JANE Brendon Fraser won the SAG award for best male actor in a film last night.
I liked the story - but I didn't like the film. I don't think it escaped its "stage" origins. I hadn't even known it was a play, but as it went along I thought that was the case.
Fraser was fine - but the writing and the bad acting contest between the women really wore me down. Samantha Morton as his wife seemed to be doing what Mr Noel Coward called: "The firm, firm hand on the wrong, wrong note."
Mileage may vary.

Good morning, all.

BK, did WITNESS play the Bruin? That's where my memory has me seeing it for the first time. I hate when I remember wrong.
-
In addition to thrilling over what a great movie it was, I had, in the previous year to that, had a few visits to an office we had in Valley Forge, PA, for a while, and I had spent a lot of time driving around and exploring and becoming enamored of the Lancaster County area where the story takes place. That Amish farm country was so beautiful (as was the food), and WITNESS was all the more rewarding for having gotten to know that locale a little.
-
I hope DR Elmore's AAR trip today was successful.
-
I was taking an online training course this morning, and the instructor used "ideate" and "ideating" as verbs, meaning, brainstorming. I think that is an abomination.
-
BK, the new LA production of The Secret Garden has opened. Are you planning to attend? The article said it was Broadway-bound.
-
So, sadly, we're really going to have that snowstorm tonight and tomorrow. There's no way out of it now. The guessers are calling for three-to-six or four-to-seven inches. It's just bizarre, because it's the first REAL snowstorm of the entire winter...right when we usually like to be having our last one. (We had one smaller snowfall -- I think it was in December, but maybe early January? -- that left a couple of inches, and it was a very easy cleanup and recovery.)
-
Damn it. Damn it all to hell. We got really spoiled.
-
I'm home. Access-a-Ride arrived early for both trips. However, both drivers were dreadful. The first literally abandoned me and my walker in the middle of the one-way East 54th Street in traffic to fend for myself. The second was no better.

I'm seeing the "Broadway bound" Secret Garden on March 19 only because one of our girls goes on that day. After hearing the stories of what went on there I hold no hope that it will be better than okay, and Mr. Carlyle, the "director"/choreographer is now on my Rob Ashford list of people whose shows I will actively stay away from. His lack of directorial acumen caused them to replace the Mary, demote the person THEY cast to an alternate, and to bring in at HUGE expense the Amaryllis from The Music Man, which he'd over-choreographed. Our kid, who THEY cast was pretty devastated, but she gets to do three or four shows, split with our other girl who now has half the shows she was promises. Not only did they bring in the kid from NY, they got her an acting coach. They could have done that with the girl THEY cast but they didn't. I think she got less than a week of rehearsals, and the fact that she was still finding her way is pretty normal after a few days.

The Broadway World review - I don't recall ever seeing a bad Broadway World review, but here it is and it sounds just like what I'm expecting to see. And a DRAMTURG? But I'm sure the "critic" at the Times will love it just BECAUSE there's a dramaturg - he LOVED Oklahoma directed by the FISH wife. And the other critics here will also love it - or maybe they'll surprise me for a change. https://www.broadwayworld.com/los-angeles/article/Review-THE-SECRET-GARDEN-at-Ahmanson-Theatre-20230227?fbclid=IwAR2TfczcMr5lxLS8MUvHltdUet-J9Fe2opWUPOJSLcl0nnXrv_PTGKWUWZg

I figured not escaping the stage origins was intentional. My biggest issue was the lighting. At times it was almost too dark to see Fraser's wonderful expressions.

I was in Pennsylvania when Witness was released.

I used to talk, and purchase things from an Amish family at a big flea market near us. She remembered me as I was her first customer. While she sold items from other people, she was flattered that I purchased items she had made and commented the stitching was superior to the others.
I made that comment without knowing it was her handiwork-lol
-
We talked about Witness. She said they had all gone to see it. She liked the movie but said it couldn't have happened. I didn't counter with my thoughts on that.

He is not conducting. A rather egoish LA flavor conductor is. And Rob and Warren have already returned to NY and are not coming back - in other words, why try out a new production and not be there to fix what isn't working? Oh wait, Mr. Carlyle probably thinks his work is perfect. I'm sure he was delightful back when he began and was specifically a choreographer. A director he isn't and he now over-choreographs everything and his Music Man choreography is a perfect example of that.
-
The Secret Garden was one of the first shows I went to when I moved here, and I'm sorry to say I never followed it up by either returning to it in NYC or by seeing any other production. I'd love to experience it again, done right.
-
I like the line in the review, “If you already bought tickets to The Secret Garden, don’t despair.”
That should be used on the posters.

“The Secret Garden: Don’t spend money on seeing it, but if you already have, it won’t, like, kill you.”

It turns out that I did have to go to a specialty plumbing supply place, and they had a piece that specified going from 1-1/4" to 1-1/2", but not to 1-3/4".

I bought it anyway because that's all that they had, and someone there said that it probably would stretch over the larger pipe.

And I had to go out to another place in Lacey to get the adaptor.

-

-

-
It's just a matter of loosening or tightening screws in the hinges.
-

-

-
