Well, you've read the notes, the notes had the definitive answer to the age old question of hear, hear or here, here, and now it is time for you to post until the there, there cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: EXCEPTIONAL!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept very badly. My body responded badly to too much sugar in a can of crushed pineapple and I swear I needed a bathroom break every 30-45 minutes. My last bathroom run was around 3:30, and I finally got about two hours of uninterrupted sleep.
-
Yesterday turned out to be a wonderful day, since both doctors' appointments went smoothly and I like both doctors very much. Once I was home from my luncheon date, the day continued nicely. I got nowork in on the ballet,. so that's today's priority.
-
DR Rodzinski, I'm sorry your Covid bout will prevent you from seeing your nephew. A friend I haven't seen in nearly 50 years was in town two months ago, and my body was unwilling to keep our intended visit.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Despite the heat, I managed to get some fairly good, uninterrupted sleep.
-
If they asked me, I could write a book.
-
But they never ask.

Don't ask, don't tell.

Free-Associating can be fun.

Perhaps not for the recipient.

The recipient received the receipt.

Interesting to read about the continued progress of two BK projects: the new book, and Sami.
-
Well, at least we got to post #18.
-
I don't remember this scene from Game of Thrones. Perhaps it G.O.T. cut?
-
Good morning

Whew…just gif caught up with 12 pages of yesterday

I was exhausted last night and fell asleep right after dinner and slept through until 630 this morning

It is a gloriously beautiful Thursday morning. Sun is shining, pond is glistening, and birds are singing.
And all of it will come to an end this afternoon as this humongous trough of rain sweeps up from the gulf and brings us storms today and tomorrow.
Sigh.

I have no special plans for the day, but something must give on that front. I need self-motivation to clean, do laundry, etc., etc. and so forth.

I see a lucrative new national sport in the offing:
"Make the HHW'er Groan!"
Kind of a digital version of dunking the clown at the carnival.
And don't leave money on the table! Make it a paid subscription service -- after suckering them in with a couple of free rounds, of course. OMG, just wait till Twitter gets ahold of this...
-
Auditions last night ranged from the ridiculous to the sublime.
Which is exactly what this particular theeder is used to, I haughtily daresay. Oh yes, I haughtily daresay. If I say so myself. If you get my meaning. If you catch my drift. I just want to make sure we're on the same page here.

There was one awkward sightread (because of the thoughtless page layout) -- and one just plain bad one, for which I accept blame along with the poor photocopy. Unfortunately, tragically, and sadly, I have no idea now what the song was, or I'd find the song right now and learn it.

Let’s see… baby girl is still a bit sick, maybe a little better. I’m feeling ok, though hoarse. This morning, mother-in-law fainted and is in the ER. Helen Mirren in Prime Suspect (UK)

For funny detective shows there’s Pysch (US) and Monk (US)

I recently mentioned Choc Zero to my acupuncturist, who is also a nutritionist. It turns out that she's very fond of dark chocolate and has tried many of the sugar-free versions. Once she tried Choc Zero she said she no longer wanted any of the others and thanked me profusely for telling her about Choc Zero.
I just received a new shipment. They are out of the milk chocolate squares, which are my favorite, so I was forced to try a couple new flavors. The milk chocolate caramel is very tasty, a bit sweeter than the milk chocolate squares. The white chocolate caramel is also very good.
Whole Foods and some other stores now carry the products, though she said Amazon prices were better.

Helen Mirren in Prime Suspect (UK)
Agreed.

Oh I also like Sherlock, the modern retelling of the tales with Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock and Martin Freeman as Watson (UK)

Major groan on the ant situation, especially that is happened in the middle of everything else.
I know, here he is, sequestered peacefully in his room trying to stay healthy, when he’s forced out by ants!
Updates: went to the wee hospital in Ladner, BC to visit the MIL and bring her her shoes. She’s sore but no broken hip. Keeping her overnight.
Was able to buy some Terro ant baits and the ants are gobbling up that sweet stuff to take back into their lair and poison their Queen.
Daughter a little better today. Kept down solid food.
Mrs. R not feeling well now, testing negative though, but has a painful abscess in her lower gums!
Calgon, take me away?
-
And JRand called it a slow news night!
-
Oh I did get some potentially good news. Remember the ID theft where someone fraudulently rented an apartment in North Carolina under my name? I spent hours going through steps to contest this with the various grifters and agencies, filing police report, sending certified letters, etc. This after all three credit bureaus told me sorry, their investigations indicated the debt was mine. I received my first follow-up investigation result from one bureau, Experian, who say the disputed charges are no longer on my credit report. So maybe the beginning of the end of that madness!
-
Thank you all for vibes on all these things.

-
I have lijed various TV versions of Nero Wolfe.
Jim Hutton as Ellery Queen
I loved Ellery Queen as a kid! But there was one episode that really spooked me as a kid. Someone was murdered on an elevator or something… Really kept me up that night.
Nero Wolfe! I also loved the William Conrad version of that. Lee Horsley, as Archie Goodwin later became Matt Houston!
-
Later, in my 20s, I did some work for Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine. Digitizing old reels of Minute Mysteries radio spots in hopes of reviving them.
-
Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine is still going, with the same editor in chief since I was there in the late ‘90s. Comforting.
-
Thanks, George!
-
Rehearsal was short but fun.
-
Then I hunkered down and finished Mare of Winningham. I know that I'm in the minority here and maybe I would have liked it better had I not seen superior shows like Happy Valley, which is clearly the role model for this show. But I've seen four or five like this and they're all exactly the same - dreary, depressing, unhappy people doing bad things to each other, family woes, and a murder to solve that becomes almost silly in its three twist reveal that simply defies credulity. The last two episodes were especially illogical and most of the last episode is endless yakking, and then we get the final third twist (if you can call it that) and it's just, for me, not believable at all. There's no question that the actors do a fine job, but the truly awful characters, especially the surly ex-boyfriend of the murdered girl and his gal pal - horrible, both - never pay the price or face anything. Winslet is excellent, though, but it's the structure, which borrows heavily from the Swedish and Danish similar series, where every episode has to end with a cliffhanger development, a new possible killer, etc. However, for me, the worst thing is the music, by some composer I never heard of - it's literally all wallpaper, sound design, and droning. At the end, we get some piano octaves before the final fadeout. I mean, it's so ludicrous and one can only hope that there is a sea change at some point.
-
Had some popcorn as my evening snack. I'm still hungry, but thankfully there's not a single item of food that's edible, so I'll just have to be tough.
-
And here we are on page eight.
-
Which is better than page seven.
-
And not as good as page nine.
-
Perhaps George, rather than going down another rabbit hole, will show up and make with some posts.
-
I guess TCB's late-night denizen days are done.
-
Guess I'll finish the last of the Previn/Vaughan Williams symphonies.
-
Currently playing, the beautiful Pastoral, his third symphony - that and the fifth are the most beautiful.
-
Camelot revival got pretty bad reviews.

It's been Sorkin-ized.

I hope the sick among us feel better soon.

Where in tarnation IS everyone?

Nobody here but us chickens.

You'll never walk alone.

A wolf in sheep's clothing.

Say what?

I didn't hear you.
-
Speak up!

Page nine must be around here somewhere.
-
Is gaslighting going on?
-
See?
-
Camelot revival got pretty bad reviews.
Guess I won't tell my cousin and his wife. ::) The movie version is their favorite movie musical of all time.
-
Tomorrow, I'm bringing my 10-month old car to get the computer looked at. :P
-
Two posts in an hour?
-
Well, we've got some time left.
-
Let's move this puppy along.
-
We must move along.
-
Along is what we must move.
-
We need some ACTION.
-
We need some EXCITEMENT.
-
We need some HA CHA CHA!
-
I've been getting error messages about the EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology (https://www.subaru.com/eyesight.html), and I needed to schedule an appointment.
-
Has George already gone down a damn rabbit hole?
-
I scheduled it three weeks ago, and tomorrow was the soonest that they could get me in. ::)
-
And?
-
Has George already gone down a damn rabbit hole?
No...keep up! I'm posting!
-
Tell me more, tell me more...
-
A Grease reference.
-
I'm craving something but trying not to give in.
-
The EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology has been turning itself off, as well as the automatic transmission oil temperature showing that it's too hot!
-
I'm craving something but trying not to give in.
But you know you want to. ;)
-
I've got the craven craves.
-
And I don't care who knows it.
-
Anyway, every time I turned off my car for more than just a few minutes, everything would reset and it would be fine for a week or so, then all the error messages would come on again.
-
The problem with late-night craves is that there's not a single thing you can order on DoorDash that won't cost twenty bucks. That's the damn problem.
-
But the car otherwise ran without any trouble, so I think (hope) that it's just the sensors that are the problem and not something with the actual car.
-
Also, I REALLY hope that I don't have to pay for this appointment or the service.
-
The car is only 10 months old, so I think it has a bumper-to-bumper warranty.
-
This sort of thing should NOT happen to a 10-month old car.
-
TEN-MONTH OLD CAR PAGE TEN DANCE!!
-
Okay, I ordered something, because Fat Sal's had the 40% off thing. That's a really good deal and comes out to fifteen bucks. I ordered a turkey club, which isn't too bad, calorie-wise. They're pretty quick, delivery-wise.
-
Page ten has arrived.
-
