I've never even seen a Jew's Harp before.
I've never written for a Jew's Harp before.
I look forward to DR Elmore's reporting back on the Jew's Harp.
I never understood the thing, but I do think I've seen it notated at least once. But where? And was it just rhythm, or melodic? Obviously that memory is useless.
The one orchestral piece I know I've heard it in (on a recording) is Charles Ives' Washington's Birthday, and I assumed it was closely miked, at least on that recording. Or could it really be expected to be heard in a live setting? I'd had the impression that it made a tiny sound and was something you would generally only be able to hear, acoustically, in a tiny band. But I am here to learn!

Safe travels for our DR JohnG!
The church I grew up in; a spectacular setting beside the sea.

I ended up sleeping in the recliner last night because everytime I laid flat I couldn’t breathe.
Closing day vibes for DR GEORGE & Co.
The author, Claudia Gray, is a longtime friend of my friend, Rodney. Her real name is Amy Vincent.
Amy was another of Rodney’s lifelines when he was on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? She helped him with a Starbucks question. He took the money on a question I could have helped him with — what is the Mona Lisa painted on? But he had used up his lifelines. He took the money. $70,000, if I recall correctly.
My youngest had a dance recital today. How I moaned about the dozens of emails we received about every damn thing. Pages and pages with PDFs about her hairdo etc. But that all went out the window when I watched this high-quality dance show today, with excellent choreography and super-cute littles.
I did mention to Jed about coming back to HHW. We'll see if he or Ann does.
Three months ago we were able to make reservations only for lunch and only once.
For the past two days, Johnston was part of an annual event called the 23-Mile Yard Sale. It stretches 23 miles along a state road, a route that takes it straight through town.
It's always best to know this is happening, because if you take that route to go anywhere, there are dozens of Looky-Loo drivers who will simply crawl down the road craning their necks to see what is displayed out in the yards on both sides of the route. Happily, there are stretches where there is nothing on display and you almost get to do the speed limit.
As it was, though, a five-minute drive could take up to 15 minutes. Because this is the South, folks do not get angry, or express road rage, during this weekend. There are ways to get around it all simply by taking side roads which are absolutely faster during the sale period.
Needless to say, a small town like Johnston has its predictable amounts of traffic throughout any given day, but on yard sale weekend, it's insane. That is why I stocked up so I could stay in.
I have a Zoom chat this afternoon.
George, I am very pleased, though not surprised, that you had a great show.
George, Craig said it is time to replace his 22 year old car. I warned him not to make sure the screen isn't too large.

DR singdaw, I didn’t know you were from Palos Verdes!
DR Ron, I enjoyed reading about the 23-Mile Yard Sale.
DR vixmom, you are correct about Leopoldstadt.
It closes in July, so I won’t have a chance to see it.
Probably just as well.

Good!
DR Jane, my mother was born in Cologne, Germany.
She described Kristallnacht, or Night of Broken Glass to the students.
On the night of Nov.9,1938, all of the storefronts and windows of Jewish homes were smashed.
They woke up to streets full of shards of broken glass.
There's someone challenging DR John G. and DR Jane for the most books read this year.
DR George, I remember when Leopoldstadt was available on National Theater Live, but I waited too long, and it was no longer available when I tried to watch it.

DR George, Sharry posted the following on FB:
Today Micheal O'Hara and I spent hours going through videos of shows Tom Birkeland was in to use for a slide show at his Celebration of Life. We were weeping and laughing...sometimes both at the same time. Mark your calendars for this wonderful occasion of remembrance at Tacoma Little Theatre, Saturday June 24 from 2 to 5 PM. More info will be forthcoming
I think this afternoon/evening is DR George's last performance?

Have you consulted an allergist about this?

How I wish I could be there
I have a pretty big ASS, so when I half-ASS something, it's still quite impressive.
Aloha, John! 🌺
Flights all ok?
Watching some of the original BBC episodes of Maigret from 1960.
BK and George will take it to page 10, at least.
And yet, no one is here to memorialize it.

Will you be on the island of Maui on Saturday night?
I love attending their film and music festivals.
A show without a single likable character - WHAT a great idea. Hey, let's take a little of Showgirls, a little Blonde, a little Babylon, pretend Paul Verhoeven is our director, and let's make a big pile of steaming poop. When one of its "creators" states that the aim is to piss people off, I think you know what you're in for. When the other "creator" says he loves all the bad publicity surrounding the show because it means it will be a huge hit, I think you know what you're in for.

Do you like The Spinners?
Don’t you hate it when lyricists lie to you? It’s not even its own special island.
George has gone down some damn rabbit hole.
There are posts just ripe for some posting
And I mean to post me a few
Pithy posts, so let's not have ghosting
We've got a lot of posting to do.
George probably at aftershow party. Much laughter and tears.
They must be read.
