Three months ago we were able to make reservations only for lunch and only once.

Wow!

For the past two days, Johnston was part of an annual event called the 23-Mile Yard Sale.  It stretches 23 miles along a state road, a route that takes it straight through town.

It's always best to know this is happening, because if you take that route to go anywhere, there are dozens of Looky-Loo drivers who will simply crawl down the road craning their necks to see what is displayed out in the yards on both sides of the route.  Happily, there are stretches where there is nothing on display and you almost get to do the speed limit.

As it was, though, a five-minute drive could take up to 15 minutes.  Because this is the South, folks do not get angry, or express road rage, during this weekend.  There are ways to get around it all simply by taking side roads which are absolutely faster during the sale period.

Needless to say, a small town like Johnston has its predictable amounts of traffic throughout any given day, but on yard sale weekend, it's insane.  That is why I stocked up so I could stay in.

George, Craig said it is time to replace his 22 year old car.  I warned him not to make sure the screen isn't too large.

I have a pretty big ASS, so when I half-ASS something, it's still quite impressive.

Have we checked all food to see if exploding it makes it into something better, or we did we just stop with corn?

George, I am very pleased, though not surprised, that you had a great show.

Thanks, Jane.

DR singdaw, I didn’t know you were from Palos Verdes!
What a beautiful view.
We had friends there who worked in the aerospace industry many years ago.

DR Jane, my mother was born in Cologne, Germany.
She described Kristallnacht, or Night of Broken Glass to the students.
On the night of Nov.9,1938, all of the storefronts and windows of Jewish homes were smashed.
They woke up to streets full of shards of broken glass.

DR singdaw, I loved visiting the Wayfarers Chapel in Palos Verdes, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.
Magnificent building and setting.

DR vixmom, you are correct about Leopoldstadt.
It closes in July, so I won’t have a chance to see it.
Probably just as well.

Well, not from there, but I did live there from when I was 3 until I was 8.

DR Ron, I enjoyed reading about the 23-Mile Yard Sale.

Ditto! It sounds like a quaint throwback to a simpler time.

The National Theatre production was filmed.  It has been made available.

It is funny that I simply thought you weren't used to having a screen and were over sensitive.  We should have shown you our screen to compare to the size in your Imprezza.

Have you ever read It Rained Warm Bread by Gloria Moskowitz-Sweet?  It was written by the sister of a friend of mine.  It is based on an experience their father had during the Holocaust.

Another friend's uncle, Manny Steinberg, wrote Outcry: Holocaust Memoirs.

DR George, I remember when Leopoldstadt was available on National Theater Live, but I waited too long, and it was no longer available when I tried to watch it.
