Well, you've read the notes, the noes were lit, and now it is time for you to post until the lit cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ILLUMINATION!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
Notes investigated. Known.
-
No streetlights? How do kids know when to come in from playing outside?
Oh, that’s right, kids don’t play outside anymore.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept better than I have in a couple of days, so that was very nice, and this morning there was no kitty vomit, which is even more nice.
-
Yesterday morning, I posted on Facebook: Anyone looking for part-time work?
The last time I did, about three months ago, there were no takers. Yesterday, there were two, so I now have someone to come in once a week
to help me get this place in order: I've got things to Fed Ex to Ohio, books to donate to Connecticut libraries via our DR ChasSmith, and hopefully I can reclaim my living space.
-
I'm a bit giddy this morning about the good news of the Trump indictments but also because moronic Marjorie Toilet Greene confessed to a crime on Fox News: the stupid twit looked at the possibly bogus info on Biden bribes at the FBI, which the Freedom Caucus and gorilla Jim Jordan are trying to use for impeachment, left the secured room where the document was viewed, wrote dopwn what she remembered, and she's now flaunting it. I hope she and Trump end up in the same cell. It would be Sartre's No Exit: she wants to be Trump's vice president and I don't think she's Trump's type to grab and kitty.
-
DR JohnG, I can't speak of other Victorian translations, but I do know that the lesbian couple in Dumas' The Count of Monte Cristo were downgraded to just good friends. Isn't Nana a great backstage novel? I love the scene of the madam giving the chorus girls their after-the-show assignments.
Either Meilhac or Halevy, the librettists for Offenbach's La Belle Helene, La Vie Parisienne, and La Perichole as well as Bizet's Carmen, gave Zola gossip about Offenbach's troupe, especially the scandalous Hortense Schneider.
-
BK, thanks for the info on the Steiger film. I think I'd like to watch it.
-
Another ballet day. I got about three pages - 18-20 bars of No. 23 written; 71 bars to go!
-
Good morning
-
Once I got to sleep I stayed asleep , so I hope I’ve turned a corner sinus wise
-
Still feelin some pressure but sooooo much less
-
No doubt due to all the lovely vibes sent by you dear people
-
I forgot to congratulate George on the repair and return of his elusive car
-
May you drive it in good health …both you and the car!

Good morning, friends.

Glad to read that you are on the mend, DR vixmom.

DR George and his car are reunited!
-
Huzzah!

So MTG did a Mozart? He did that with the Vatican's treasured 'Miserere Mei' by Allegri, copies of which were tightly controlled.
-
To celebrate Richard Sherman’s birthday I will watch and listen to his film scores I own.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Good morning.
It IS Friday, no matter what my imagination demands.
-
I want to see that Steiger film, too. I don't think I'd ever heard of it.
-
"Morning Joe" is reacting to an ABC news alert that the same judge who had ignored law and ruled in favor of Trump a year or so ago is now involved with the grand jury indictment in Florida. She is the Trump appointee who was overruled by a federal district court.
Of course, they are examining this from all angles. Until all is made clear, they are assuming that her name has come up because the grand jury is in her district. Doesn't necessarily mean she will be assigned the case.
-
I feel a Sam's Club visit is in my immediate, if not sooner, future.
I have needs that cannot be allowed to lapse over the weekend. Most of those needs surround ice cream and my fast-dwindling supply here.
My rational self demands I look at the time it will take and whether the ride for just one item is worth the trip. Rationally, no. But I am ruled by my passions at times.
Rationality may be overruled.

We seem to be getting a few days of mild, but beautful, weather with temperatures "below" normal.
Instead of high 80s, low 90s, we shall have high 70s, low 80s. I can live with that.
-
A comment I read years ago that has always stuck with me went something like this: "Street lamps used to be for the PEOPLE on sidewalks. Now they're for the cars on the road." A generalization, but there's much truth to it. Classic street lamps are almost a romantic thing. They welcomed and made it safer for people to be out and about, and the classic ones are lovely things.
I loved the classic ones in the residential parts of 1970s Hollywood. I even Google street-viewed a few streets recently to see if any remained. There were indeed some, but I only had a quick look at a few blocks. I don't know whether the old style ones were still prominent around my blocks (Franklin & Whitley), but I remember walking at night, particularly in areas west of Highland, and actually appreciating them, right then and there, in my twenties. That memory is inseparable from that of the smell of the trees and the air. It was my first summer there, and my senses were highly sensitive to all of it.
The one other place in earlier years that I remember classic street lamps was the one year we lived in Bexley, the lovely old suburb of Columbus, and though I was only ten years old, the look and feel of walking and bicycling around our neighborhood with its trees and classic street lamps meant something even then.

Yes that is our local forecast as well DR RON PULLIAM....I shall enjoy it.

DR VIXMOM what was the most interesting thing you learned about the Space Shuttle last night?

I stopped by NewsMax for a moment last night just to see what the alternate universe was saying. Obviously the corrupt FBI and DOJ are doing Biden's bidding in bringing up these false charges - and that proves that collusion was present during the 2020 election and it's obvious that the election was stolen and that DJT must be protected and vindicated. Send money.
-
We have a few street lights, but they are not as bright as they used to be......
-
They are at the corners/intersections but there are none in the long stretches in between.
-
They must have dilated me really well yesterday, or else it's been so long since I'd had it that I'd forgotten how many hours it takes for your vision to come back into focus.
-
So anyway, I'm glad that's over and I CAN READ AGAIN!!!
-
TOD
I've started on my HARVEY journey. It won't be every movie in the book, just those that ring my bell for a particular reason (unless I've just recently watched them, which is true in a few cases). But that's still a LOT of movies; like, between 40 and 50. Starting at the beginning, I'm not seeking out Hold That Blonde or The High and the Mighty. I've seen the latter, and I reviewed a few clips online to recall the look and sound of it. But I was anxious to jump into Target Earth which I have on laserdisc and had never watched. I love that old sci-fi stuff, and watching it now was most enjoyable. And then Bad Day at Black Rock - which I've seen "a million times" but not in any recent years, and that was really rewarding. It really is magnificent, and I always forget that it has a powerful score by Andre Previn. That opening titles music, for my taste, takes its place among some of the greatest (as does Previn's Dead Ringer). That man left Hollywood WAY too soon, damn him.
Up next is Mister Roberts, which I don't have here but I think Kristi might, and To Catch a Thief for which it's high time for a viewing anyway.
-
Very near here, a tractor trailer hauling hogs overturned on the highway. First responders are trying to corral the swine, who got loose.
-
Playing a rhyming-match card game with the kids and these cards were the last pair. I was like wtf? Then I texted my neighbor who gave it to us and said “do these words rhyme to you?” Yes, she said. She is from New Zealand and got the game there. Beware kiwis bearing linguistic gifts!
-
LOL DR RODZINSKI.
-
Oh dear DR singdaw - Ham on the Hoof.
-
From DR Vixmom:
So Keith pops corn and Jane don’t care?
;D
-
Since I couldn't eat any popcorn, Keith passed on it. Hopefully I am able to eat it tonight if he makes any.
-
Vixmom, I am glad you were more comfortable last night and good enjoy the event.
-
The Ginger flowers are beautiful.
-
The hungry hen is cute.
-
From DR Rodzinski:
I pulled a PR coup by convincing my kids that prunes are giant raisins. So they love ‘em.
;D
They wouldn't have wanted dried plums ;D
-
From Rodzinski:
Our fire chief announced a Burn Ban starting tomorrow.
Oh no. Vibes you do not have a summer fire there!
-
The chief is the de facto mayor here.
There’s only a police presence here sometimes.
:o You really do live in a small town :)

By all means, and above all things, SEND MONEY!
What I have never heard any of the Conservative media explain, however, is how EXACTLY the Democrats managed to steal the red states that went for Biden. You know...the states with Republican governors and legislatures.
Tis a conundrum inside an enigma.
-
From George:
After having experienced both screens, I really do like the smaller screen with more physical/tactile buttons than the larger all-touch screen.
I would have refused to buy a car with a screen like that. Thankfully Keith also agrees with us about those large screens.
-
The chief is the de facto mayor here.
There’s only a police presence here sometimes.
:o You really do live in a small town :)
Me, too. I know we have police cars, but i never see more than one, and then only rarely.
Our mayor is one of my church's deacons.
-
George, one good thing came out of the car incident, you appreciate your car even more now ;)
-
DR George, I'm glad you had a very good evening.
-
One that included play lists and autographs.
-
Back from Sam's Club.
Had a very nice shopping...ice cream, key lime pie, blueberry muffins, chicken teriyaki, and maple syrup.
Driving, however, was upsetting inasmuch as every time I encountered a vehicle about to enter the road, said vehicle pulled out in front of me causing me to hit my brakes. It's like they don't have a clue how to assess traffic flow.
And don't let me get started on drivers at four-way stops. It boggles my mind why those stops confound anyone.

I was ready for sleep last night. So I didn’t finish my book. Maybe today.

I read a newer translation of Count, which was clear about the lesbian couple. Dumas had his lesbian couple. Zola had his lesbian bar. Balzac wrote a novel about a gay male couple. Good for the French for representation at least.
And fascinating about Offenbach. Thanks.
-
I'm up, I'm up - probably six hours of sleep.
-
In my old neighborhood there was a public wooden statue on the street depicting a lamplighter. Back when they had such things.
I have a picture of it, but covered in depths of snow, so you can't really make out any of the details.

The Rhyming Pirate strikes again.

Had a lovely e-mail response to an e-mail I wrote before going to bed - I'll talk about it in the notes.
-
And without tasting it first.
-
The Hungry Hen would be a great name for a breakfast place.
-
DR Ron Pulliam is re-stocked on ice cream.
-
And that is a good thing.

I caught a bit of Mike Pence's dead monotone interview about the Trump indictment; he was rattling on about the weaponization of the FBI. Hmmm, wasn't that what he and 45 were attempting?
-
;)
-
The Right's reaction to this has been hilarious. To know HOW hilarious, just imagine if this we a Democrat ex-president - just imagine THAT for true hilarity.
-
And that is a good thing.
That is a VERY good thing.
-
Mike Pence believes, I think, that we have all forgotten the spectacle, early in the Trump presidency, of him and Trump's cabinet members sitting around the table kissing Trump's ass before a news crew while Trump simply sat there and absorbed it as if he deserved it.
I will never forget it. No one ever associated with Trump, who praised Trump, who served Trump, will ever get forgiveness from me, and I will NEVER FORGET about it.
It is one of the most APPALLING AND LUDICROUS things to have ever happened in the White House!

I keep forgetting it is Friday. It's like I'm losing my mind.
-
It's a beautiful day here today. Semi-sunny, not too hot, not too humid.
-
I'll take it.
-
There is no ice cream, however. :(
-
I'll take it.
Well, you'll have to. It's all you've got, and it's all you are going to get...today.
-
One more.
-
Ta and da.
-
You're the man, DR Ron Pulliam!
-
I'm still salivating over your description of lunch yesterday.
-
I would need a nap after that, too.
-
Ann and Jen have adopted Oscar, the senior dog they were fostering.
-
DR Jrand72. I do not want to tell them they missed the auditions for GREASE!
-
I have finished Nana. And with that, I have finished the 7,600 pages of the Rougon-Maquart Cycle. It took seven years.
-
DR Jrand72. I do not want to tell them they missed the auditions for GREASE!

Ann and Jen have adopted Oscar, the senior dog they were fostering.
They are such good souls. What will they do when they travel?
-
I have finished the 7,600 pages of the Rougon-Maquart Cycle. It took seven years.
Congratulations!
The book report is due within one week.
-
Gratuitous Post #100!! ;D

Thanks, Vixmom!

His snowy hair was so much whiter beneath the candle glow.

I have seen a few similar type statues. They were all very nice.
-
DR Ron Pulliam is re-stocked on ice cream.
I wish I was.
-
I have a little ice cream left.
-
On This Day in 1934, Donald Duck made his screen debut in The Wise Little Hen.
-
I am trying not to eat ice cream since I think the cold treat makes me cough more.
-
You are so poetic, DR Rodzinski.
-
The Rhyming Pirate has obviously had an influence.
-
A good ice cream confection you can find in the store is Mickey Mouse Ice Cream Bar. It's like a Dilly Bar shaped like Mickey's head. The quality is high.
-
You are so poetic, DR Rodzinski.
That's Charley Tobias, not me! :)
-
The wise little hen may or may not be related to the hungry hen.
-
Our old neighborhood in Delaware was originally built to house DuPont execs. It dated from the time of horses and buggies, so the streets were narrow, and it still had functioning old-fashioned streetlamps. I loved that.
-
But if the hungry hen ate the book report, they may no longer be hungry.
-
They were hungry for knowledge, perhaps.
-
And aren't we all, really?

I want to be here when DR vixmom hits her diabolical post count number.

DR ELMORE I am so happy for Oscar & his family.
And I'm sure the director can find a place for those kitties in the cast.
-
Someone mentioned the GREASE librettos.
It's interesting that everyone was sent a paperback sized book with the script....which I assume we keep. The Music Books and Orchestra books were those bound things that are sent back and then I assume destroyed by Concord.
There was no restriction on writing in them....or erasing them.
-
Stumble through vibes for MR BK.
I look forward to reading about the email in the notes.
-
Newsmax has gone full on crazy.
You may not know it, but we are indicting DJT for crimes that other presidents have walked away from without even a slap on the wrist.
-
And the prosecutor is a "crazed lunatic."
-
Very near here, a tractor trailer hauling hogs overturned on the highway. First responders are trying to corral the swine, who got loose.
Pig out!
-
Those little piggies must have been the ones that went "Wee! Wee! Wee!" all the way home.
-
.
-
DR George and his car are reunited!
Huzzah!
Thanks, Singdaw! So far, so good!
-
Groan!
-
I just pulled out a gold filling in my back molar.
-
The dental office is closed for the day.
-
I called the dentist at his emergency number since this needs taking care of and we need to leave for Bend on Monday morning.
-
He will see me at 7:30.
-
I am to text him at 6:30 in the morning to remind him/confirm my appointment. I expect he doesn't want to go in early if I forget, like that is going to happen.
-
On the upside, I am not in pain.
-
I am impressed he answered quickly and offered me a solution. We won't be back from Bend until after the office closes (early) for the day on Thursday.

It's the same in Britain. I remember reading that when Sondheim became the first visiting professor at Oxford to teach students the craft of songwriting, he gave the participants his favorite rhyming dictionary as a gift...but it was an American rhyming dictionary with American rhymes, which was somewhat useless to British songwriters. :)

Hello, everyone.
-
Vibes to Larry that the new helper works out well.
I need help here, too. Not easy to find anyone.
-
Vibes to DR George that his car is now repaired properly, once and for all.
Did they tell you what the problem was and why it took so long?
-
DD Oscar is sweet.

Happy to hear that MR BK got a major miracle!
Happy news indeed.
-
Just finished reading the entire indictment. Many of the counts carry a max sentence of 20 years in prison.
-
Here’s hoping.
-
I have never read an indictment so engagingly written.
-
I was surprised at the full detail of evidence laid out.
-
Several characters, like Trump Attorney I and Trump Attorney 2, should hope their identities are not revealed too soon.
-
I also hope Jack Smith’s family is safe.
-
Been watching, relaxing, and mostly resting my voice. Thinking about some popcorn but trying not to.
-
We shall see.
-
How can we still be on page eight?
-
Several characters, like Trump Attorney I and Trump Attorney 2, should hope their identities are not revealed too soon.
Evan Corcoran is Trump Attorney 1
-
Christina Bobb is Trump Attorney 3.
Still not certain as to the identity of Trump Attorney 2.
This will all be revealed soon.
-
Where the HELL is George?
-
How can we still be on page eight?
-
Most unseemly.
-
I'm the only one here.
-
George has apparently gone down some damn rabbit hole and since he didn't show up last night until three minutes before midnight, he should be posting up a storm - and yet, no storm and no posts.

-
Zero.
-
What?
-
I thought I heard someone say something.
-
Well, at least page nine has arrived, which is more than I can say for George.
-
Vibes to DR George that his car is now repaired properly, once and for all.
Did they tell you what the problem was and why it took so long?
I don't remember the specific item (I'm not at home right now) but it was a part in/of(?) the dashboard sensors that was malfunctioning.
-
They just replaced that and now everything seems to be working like it's supposed to...so far.

I'm not at home yet.
-
I went to my mom's to play cards, but my niece didn't come tonight, and neither did her friend Mona.
-
Dee, Mona's friend who always plays with us, too, just didn't show up.
-
My mom and I did play one game with just the two of us, and then my mom asked if I would want to go to the casino and play the slots.
-
I said that I wouldn't mind (I had some cash with me) and we left her house around 6:00.
-
I finally left my mom's house about 10 minutes ago and just went through a Taco Bell drive-thru (and parked so that I could post this message).
-
Gratuitous Post #250!
-
Anyway, we both lost money (not too much), but had a good time.
-
And now, I'm going to drive home, but I don't know if I'll be home before today is locked.
-
We'll see. ;)

We love Bill.
-
Taco Bell trumps haineshisway.com, eh? Indictments will be handed down.
-
Still not here. Probably waylaid by a beef burrito.
-
And?
-
Say what?
-
Sad to be all alone in the world.
-
Nothing to be done about it.
-

Close...a Burrito Supreme with extra beef. ;D
-
And I'm officially home!

A Very Happy Birthday to Bill Hayes!
-
I had lunch at Eagan's this afternoon around 2:30, and only snacked on popcorn while playing cards with my mom.
-
Otherwise, I didn't have anything else to eat until I went to Taco Bell at 11:50 pm. ::)
-
Glued to MSNBC. Good coverage.
I'm watching the rebroadcast right now, and was listening to the Sirius XM simulcast when I was in my car.

Even though I waited, still on page nine.
-
What can one do?
-
Except get to page ten.
-
George could have done that with two more posts, but noooo...
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
They exist and therefore are.
-
And I don't care who knows it.
-
George could have done that with two more posts, but noooo...
I was ketchuping on today's posts!
-
I like to post in chronological order...sue me!
-
A Guys and Dolls reference. ;)
