Well, you've read the notes, the notes had reels and shorts, and now it is time for you to post until the reels and shorts cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: FRUITION!
-
Notes crushed. Demolished.
-
Pretty wild that you remembered the Helen Reddy experience as somewhat icy, but she remembered it warmly. Better that than the other way around.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
I have never understood reels and shorts, and don't interact with them. And get off my lawn.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I think I am now caught up on sleep, which is very nice.
-
My new helper, my friend Mario, is coming by around 10:00. I'm hoping that we can turn this chaos back into a tidy apartment over the summer.
-
I received an annoying email this moring about Moonshine & Mistletoe. I must respond, although I'd just as soon ignore it. I'm stpll pissed that I thought the recording would be released in time for last year's holiday sales, and it's nearly a damned year later now.
-
Last night I finished Ethan Mordden's latest book, Gays on Broadway. He certainly does grind them out. Some day I'll write about our friendship and how it all fell apart.
-
:)
-
Good morning, all.
-
Now what was I going to say?
-
Oh yes.
Corn.
-
Sorry to hear about the continuing mishegas with Moonshine & Mistletoe.
-
Good morning

I tried very hard to get onto HHW.com last night, and I simply could not get through. I would get to the blog page, but no response happened for posting here. Tried for about an hour.

My YouTube experiences have not gone the route of Reels and Shorts.
I get irritated by Ms.MoJo. She puts up interesting ideas, but she runs her mouth throughout when all I want to see are the scenes she has chosen to make her case for whatever -- funniest comedy scenes, best musical numbers, etc.
It's all about THEM, isn't it! Not the subject they lure you with but THEM.
There are "historical" or "scientific" segments meant to "WOW" you about new revelations or discoveries. But when you watch, there is always a British voice attempting to give an overview of history or science without EVER getting to the come-on line they put into their titles.
There are true gems of entertainment on YouTube, and those are what I seek out.

It is supposed to be Tuesday here in Johnston SC.
Tuesday, June 13, 2023 is how they put it.
I wonder how they KNOW it's Tuesday!! When was it decided to name "this day" Tuesday? And what was it called before they called it Tuesday?
And how do we know they chose the correct day to BE Tuesday?
Maybe tomorrow is the real Tuesday, and we are celebrating Tuesday on what is really supposed to be Monday.
I tell you, retirement has made me question things that never occurred to me before!

I completely forgot to say something about this. I tried to get in last night, too - I could be wrong, but I'm thinking it was around 10:30 pm eastern - and about half an hour later the site was still unreachable. I was falling asleep at that point, so no idea how long it lasted. DR Ron says about an hour.
EDIT: Time estimate revised and corrected in a later post.
The Sunday afternoon outage was, like, three hours, that much I know for sure.
-
I slept well.
Had a strange, ongoing dream.
I was maintaining a database for a community theater. I had entries on every person who had ever auditioned for, and who had been cast in, plays. And the intent in my mind was that when we were holding auditions, I would print out each person's data and give it to them for an update.
As it happened, though, I was attempting some updates and the company director said I was wasting my time. Nobody was using it or wanted to use it.
I had it on an external hard drive, so I erased it all and gave up my efforts.
And what happened next? Yes! Suddenly, that database became crucial for a director who wanted to pre-select potential actors for a play.
I woke up semi-cackling.
-
I do believe that this post is a minor millstone for me.

Maybe it's an east coast thing? Did anyone west of the Mississippi experience any difficulty?

Listening to "Morning Joe" as I type this. They are going on about Trump's quote about not wanting anyone to go through "my boxes". Apparently, someone has reported that Trump said that when he was told the FBI needed to go through his files of White House papers.
The one thing -- the one word -- that springs to mind about Trump is:
FECKLESS -- lacking initiative or strength of character; irresponsible.

Congratulations, DR Ron Pulliam, on your lofty new perch in the HHW firmament!!!

My TV watching has taken a turn toward the past.
I have discovered that Amazon Prime has the complete series "Medium". It was a huge favorite of mine back when it first appeared on NBC in 2005.
I have devoured Season 1. The writing is so good, and the casting was perfection. It's unique to me because it's about a woman with a family (husband and three girls) who uses a gift she has tried to avoid to build a career helping the DA of her city.
What's unique about it is the familial relations at play...the husband, extremely well-played by Jake Weber, is the loving husband, doting father, but extremely rational and concerned about how his wife's job impacts their relationship and their family.
Patricia* Arquette is wonderful as Allison Dubois. The little girls are adorable, but precocious and annoying and quirky.
The cases Allison assists with are fascinating.
The show's first episode, and final episode of Season 1, features a very interesting and refreshing character: A Texas Ranger played by the talented Arliss Howard. The last episode of Season 1 is a "To Be Continued" episode that starts Season 2.
It's so strange to me that this series was all that many years ago. All the "little girls" are grown women with families of their own now. Sofia Vassilieva was the eldest, Maria Lark the next. I don't recall who played the baby, but she grew during the show's run of seven seasons.
I have never seen another show in which the husband and wife had so many scenes in their bed...where Allison has her disturbing dreams, where the little girls run in and and jump in with them on weekend mornings....where the dramas of the day play out in adult discussions that always serve the story. There is adult intimacy but always in the framework of a healthy, contentious at times, relationship based in love and family.
*correction. Thanks, George!

And now that I've gotten all that off my mind, it's time for my second cup of coffee. And a blueberry muffin, I think.
Yes, I am almost positive a muffin will be part of my next moves.

Congratulations DR Ron!
-
I’d totally forgotten Medium! Was VERY into it the first season. My memory is it kinda goes downhill quickly or the formula gets old. Or maybe I just lost interest? You tell me what you think as you go, Ron.
-
I guess what comes to me is at a certain point, people should believe Arquette instantly as she’s proven herself time and again.
-
I went back and looked at people's posting times last night to compare with my thinking that it was 10:30 pm when I couldn't get on. But I saw posts at that time (7:30 Pacific) and following.
Hmm...
So then I thought I must be wrong thinking 10:30, because I was up later than that. It was more like 11:30, or even 11:20 when I tried a few times over half an hour. Voila! There was a lull in posting from 8:15 to 9:37 Pacific. It is therefore my professional opinion that that's the down time.
-
DR Iris, I'm glad Sam is beginning to feel better.
-
Iris, thanks for the vibes.
-
Thanks, Rodzinski!
-
I guess what comes to me is at a certain point, people should believe Arquette instantly as she’s proven herself time and again.
But it often took her awhile to figure out the clues she was receiving.
-
I had a rough night of coughing vs sleeping.
-
I guess what comes to me is at a certain point, people should believe Arquette instantly as she’s proven herself time and again.
That is true in so many story lines.
This past season's gem was "So Help Me Todd". And Todd (Skylar Astin) is set up as a ne'er-do-well investigator who lose his license, whose lawyer mom gives him a job helping her, who lives in his sister's garage, and who has a gay brother who is an aide to the state governor.
In every episode, Todd proves his worth and value, and in each new episode he is treated as an irresponsible guy who hasn't earned anyone's trust.
That goes on for most of the season, although we did get the joy of seeing his relationship with mom -- the wonderful Marcia Gay Harden -- improve by leaps and bounds.
-
I guess what comes to me is at a certain point, people should believe Arquette instantly as she’s proven herself time and again.
But it often took her awhile to figure out the clues she was receiving.
And it always seems she was being second-guessed by her husband, her boss and her detective co-worker. All of them seemed to believe her and want her to help, but she often felt things/saw things that contradicted what they all knew.
In real life, Allison Dubois is an "alleged" medium. She HAS assisted law enforcement but has also been wrong on occasion. She is a real person and served as a consultant on the show.
-

Am quite expecting this, but not sure it happened as quickly as the second season. It did run seven seasons.
It's rather like "Ghost Whisperer" in that regard. They totally sabotaged/ruined that show by having Melinda get pregnant during Season 4 of the show's five seasons. She really wanted a child and that was always part of her story, so they finally made it happen. BUT...and this is where they went off the rails...the 5th season jumped ahead FIVE years so the little boy could talk and become the object of much concern for having inherited his mother's talents PLUS some that were troubling. The show died for me during that season. His name was Aiden, and they tried to make the show more about him. Ruined it completely.
-
Here I am going on and on for the "6 Guests" who are also here.
I wonder if there is a supernatural element to our "guests" quota?
-
DR ChasSmith, I agree with you about the singer of the "In Memoriam" segment of the Tonys. She did a nice job singing that song.
She's no Audra McDonald, but she has a nice voice. She wobbled a bit, but I reckon it was not rehearsed as much as she might have liked.

The actual lady the series was based on made a coupe of appearances in, I think, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. She was a complete self-centered bitch.

I have been very sluggish today. Two cups of coffee and a muffin, posting here, and watching a bit of TV could not prevent me from an hour's nap.
Don't know why I napped. I slept just fine overnight.
And two cups of coffee should have kept me alert.

Nevertheless, I feel great now!

That wouldn't be great for most of you, though.

Conversations With Jack Episode 24. I talk with Brad about his upcoming auditions for Anything Goes.
You can see some of the front porch of the theeder and the small barn in the back where we did our shows outdoors for two years, although the stage & bleachers are gone.
Brad is married to my cousin Lita, director of GREASE. He is a really good guy. He taught grade school for several years, got his Masters and moved into administration, but he missed the kids so much, he went back to the classroom and now teaches first grade.
He is a great teacher, actor, director, and cousin in law. It was a very windy day....but you get the idea.

-
And where is George?
-
The Ocho!
-
Down some damn rabbit hole?
-
What?
-
page eight.
-
Better.
-
George is recuperamanatin’!
-
Must write some notes.
-
Do you have a Notes Template?
Or is it 100% typed fresh each night?

Very nice.

A new friend

Cool!
-
DR George, how are you feeling today?
Feeling okay. No more headache or achiness in general.
-
Gratuitous Post #222!
-
Back to MSNBC.
That's pretty much what I watched today. :)
-
I saw “Lock him up” signs.
Those made me happy.
Me, too. ;D
-
I actually can’t think of what we’d say in America if we were trying to be polite. Horrorshow? Shambles? Snafu?
A cluster... (and not filling in the ellipses)?
-
Got a couple offers on the in-laws house. A hair over asking. So that’s good news. That will fund their assisted living for as long as need be, I hope.
Good luck, Rodzinski!
-
And where is George?
I'm here. ::)
-
Does anyone follow Joe's Pub (https://www.youtube.com/@joespubnyc) on YouTube?
-
The PBS station here is showing Carole King in concert in Central Park. It’s from the Tapestry heyday. Every song is excellent. Watching her is a thrill. This footage, from 1973, has never been shown before.

No. I gather I should.
-
Tonight's instalment is a concert of songs from a musical version of Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean by Ed Graczyk, called 5 & Dime: A New Musical (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTpICIRQvAA), with book by Ashley Robinson (Brokeback Mountain, Fall of ‘94), music by Dan G. Sells (Brokeback Mountain, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie), and lyrics by transgender actress and activist, Shakina (Hulu’s Difficult People, NBC’s Quantum Leap).
-
I don’t know if I want to hear Patti LuPone singing Me and Bobby McGee, but the rest looks promising.

Cool.

The description says that Annie Golden is in this, but she's not. Carolee Carmello, however, is.
-
Rodzinski, I type the notes in Word then cut and paste them into a program for the blog and post from there.
-
And?
-
Say what?
-
George seems to be here.
-
Rather than a damn rabbit hole.
-
Should't page nine be around somewhere?
-
See?
-
Page nine is fine.
-
Page ten wonders when.
-
Did George go down a damn rabbit hole after all?
-
He seems to be here and not be here at the same time.
-
Nine?
-
In the meantime, I could tell the tale of The Randy Vicar and the Vicarious Pronouns.
-
That's a good one.
-
Really good.
-
Oh George....
-
Where's George?
-
Did George go down a damn rabbit hole after all?
No, just making sure that Annie Golden really wasn't in that concert. The performers were announced at the end and Carolee Carmello is specifically acknowledged.
-
I know not.
-
Forget Annie Golden. She's now silver.
-
She's still out there performing, though.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I didn't know that she was 71 years old.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
Don't we miss TCB?
-
I do.
-
I knew that she wasn't a spring chicken.
-
I miss Ann.
-
Don't we miss TCB?
Of course.
-
She could be here if she really wanted to be.
-
Alas...
-
Alack...
-
She could be here if she really wanted to be.
Well, they do have kids now.
-
What can one do?
-
Oh, look! It's Page Ten!!
-
Page 10.
-
The kids could post, too.
-
Not this late at night!
