Well, you've read the notes, the notes averred that tempus fugit, and now it is time for you to post until the tempus fugit cows come home.

Good morning, all!
-
I'm running lagte this morning. I need to get the laundry into the washers.
-
I slept rather well, with lots of unremembered dreams. Thatch stayed with me all night. DR Laura was so right about him six years ago when I was despairing that I'd ever taken him on. He is so dear to my heart.
-
Stella has also turned into a lap cat, jumping into my lap at the strangest times. She doesn't like to be held, but she has no problem climbing onto me and settling down for a bit.
-
I won't get much work on the ballet today, but I have a lot of traveling between the basement and the apartment.
-
Good morning, friends.

An apple a day can keep almost anyone away.
If you throw it hard enough.

-
Good morning, all.
-
Is that the Randy Vicar’s donut hole?
-
Slept fairly well.
-
Had a dream in which an old friend I hadn’t seen in years showed up. I knew his name before he arrived but forgot it when he appeared, at least for a while.

Wednesday...again!
-
I think that, for retirees, every day should be Tuesday.
Tuesdays are so mellow...so warm and inviting.
Wednesdays just remind you that tempus fugit, and there is no slowing it down.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Agree about Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I’ve thought that for several years now.
-
I slept, for the most part, very well.
I did dream, but what I dreamed makes no sense.
At one point, I was cooking for my folks and three guests. I had some elaborate baked potatoes and was oooking steaks.
Thing is, I was cooking those steaks in an oven, which I never do. But they were large, and I had two. I should easily have been able to cut them up and provided plenty for all.
But when I took them out of the oven, they had shrunk considerably. I sliced the steaks up and put chunks on the table. I was very embarrassed.
I then woke up and pondered the imponderable.
-
Sounds like a very successful evening last night. I’m stunned, though, at the audience of twenty. I get what BK says about the difficulty in getting people off of their ASSES and into the theeder, even for free. But man oh man, that’s pushing it.
-
Agree about Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I’ve thought that for several years now.
It seems a bit arguable, I guess, but five-day work weeks were always the same: Mondays, the work was sporadic, but rushed. Tuesdays were mellow and much got accomplished.
On Wednesday, management panic would set in about some projects. It was a hurry-up-and-wait day, so far as I was concerned.
Thursdays were okay, and it was always a goal to get ahead of the curve and most of what needed doing done by Thursday.
But no...nobody was ever available to review and sign stuff on Thursdays because they had meetings or urgent new projects to tackle.
Fridays were always happy day because the weekend loomed, but I often paid dearly to get through a Friday, running hither and thither, getting everything I could signed and ready to mail out or deliver to another office.
Fridays used to be great fun when I was much younger because there was Friday night. Friday nights became early-to-bed nights in my later years of working.
I believe I have voiced my opinions about three-day weekends. They were always great, but the Tuesday on which you returned to work was ruined by management panic.
Still, it was better than when i was in school and procrastinating all weekend about reading this or writing that...and then trying to cram everything into a few short hours on Sunday evening.
-
And the word of the day is: ASSUAGE!
I’ll treat myself once in a while to a nice breakfast of eggs, ASSUAGE, hash browns and toast.

Bruce, I am pleased you had a good evening.
-
The day started out overcast and cool.
But the sun has now emerged from the dissipating cloud cover. It "may" be a very nice day, indeed.
-
I had a lot of mail today, and most of it was "please send us money" for this, that and the other.
I have no idea how they get the idea that I can fund all their causes. It makes me rue the donations I have made to a couple of organizations who, I believe, must have shared my information with others.
My trash is full of such stuff.

It is almost my lunch time.
In the background, Jessica Fletcher is summing up what she believes happened in a murder case du jour.
-
"Morning Joe" this morning was a rehash of last night's Laurence O'Donnell coverage of details about when Trump's trial will start.
Trouble with the show, however, was Joe Scarborough himself. The man takes FOREVER to make a point, hemming and hawing and driving folks crazy. I find it interesting to see Mika put a hand on his arm at times when he's on a rant.
He is an interesting guy, but I think the show works best when he's either out for the day or only participates for an hour.

PAGE FOUR DANCE!!

There's construction at a major intersection here.
-
They're creating a round-about at two different entrances to the freeway and it's going to take months...and it's already been going on for months! :P
-
There are roundabouts going in everywhere in Minnesota, too.

Round and round she goes.

Someone should write an Ode to Roundabouts.
-
I had a new (to me) experience this afternoon.
-
I got my first professional pedicure.
-
Talk about a fish-out-of-water experience.
-
I was the only male client. There were about 25 female customers.
-
All of the workers were young Asian women.
-
To my helper's credit, she did not run screaming from the salon when I first presented my feet.
-
Which she would have had every right to do; they were a mess.
-
But we were done in half an hour without any undue drama.
-
I declined to get painted a color.
-
About one quarter of the way through, she pushed a button (or inserted a coin) and the chair started giving me a massage.
-
That was... interesting.
-
They take a card for the pedicure, but not for the tip. Which had not been explained to me in advance.
-
Fortunately, I had some cash on me. I usually don't.
-
And the water company is finally accepting their responsibility for the water leak. Sadly it means tearing up the road.
Groan, but at least they are fixing it.
-
And overall, I think it is well worth the money, and I'll probably go back and have it done again. I don't know what the normal interval is - three months?
-
The fire alarm went off. So irritating.
I'll bet that JB was not best pleased.
I would think not.
-
Next time shouldn't be quite as much of a production.
-
I hope.
-

And thus endeth my adventure.

There is no set design in the playbook for MORNING'S AT SEVEN.

Tonight during what the director calls "chaos" - everyone is wandering around the stage before the act starts....doing scripted and unscripted things.
I was looking at props. Suddenly Grant - the very handsome young actor came up and started giving me performance notes. I said "WHAT?"....and he kept it up.....I was very perturbed with him and gave him a very hard time.
He had tears in his eyes....and he said: "I'm doing chaos."
I was mortified, his character is the director of Murder At Havisham Manner.....
I finally realized what he was doing. I apologized....but I am going to buy him a nice bag of candy to make up for it.
-
I have started watching season 1 of a newish procedural from Britain. It's on both BritBox and Amazon Prime.
It is called "Beyond Paradise", and it stars Kris Marshall as a DI who moves to Devon and immediately gets drawn into strange and wonderful human doings that combine dry wit and intelligent writing/plotting.
It is a spin-off of the show "Death in Paradise" in which the character DI Humphrey Goodman was first introduced in that show's third season in 2014 and he played that character until 2017, after which he, the actor, left the show to spend more quality time with his family.
This time, DI Goodman and his fiancee have moved to Devon where he is in an office with two others plus a receptionist named Margo.
-
I like it. I really like it. The first season seems to be 10 episodes which began airing in February this year.
A second season has been ordered, so it's worth an investment of time if you like British procedurals with an oddly quirky bent.

Is this show scripted, or do they just hand you a suggested plot line and you make it up as you go?
-
Ah I shall watch for that DR RON PULLIAM it sounds delightful.
-
Well the "chaos" just has suggested things that the actors talk about...the crew is still working on the set, the actors are looking for a dog that has gone missing, everyone just does general mucking about.
Then the director chases us all offstage so he can give his curtain speech.

Ms. Rush is a great-great-granddaughter of the retailing magnate Isidor Straus and his wife, Ida, two of the wealthiest people aboard the Titanic for its first voyage. Mr. Straus, born in 1845, was a co-owner of Macy’s department store.”
Incredible. Just read this in the NY Times.

Jack, I saw The Play That Goes Wrong last December with some friends.
-
We had front row seats
-
One of my friends and I were laughing hysterically throughout, clutching each other and gasping for air
-
After the finale when the cast came out for curtain calls we were still laughing so hard we were literally weak, I was clutching my sides and trying not fall off my chair.
-
One of the actors leaned over and asked if we were OK
-
Which just set us off again
-
Once we could breathe we headed over to the box office where I bought two more tickets for January, the first date I could get the exact same seats
-
I gave them to Vixdad for Christmas
-
I laughed just as hard the second time and Vixdad was also weak with laughter
-
DR Chas, I meant to mention before that back around the time you were one of this fearless young men in their flying machines I briefly dated a young man with a pilot’s license.
-
He took me up in his little 2 seater plane several times and we flew the length of Long Island
-
I loved it!
-
(Ten)
-
Unfortunately I could not find it in my heart to live the pilot and we parted ways
-
But oh! those flights!
-
I also once took a helicopter ride through the Grand Canyon.
-
I likewise enjoyed that immensely
-
But I’ve never been in a seaplane, although I often saw them landing in the Great South Bay back when my Dad was boating
-
I tried something new with my stuffed peppers
-
I prepared them last night and let them cook on low in the slow cooker over night
-
This morning I transferred them to a Pyrex casserole ( yep still use my Corning ware stuff) and put them in the fridge
-
To night I just needed to warm them up and dinner was ready in two shakes of a lambs tail
-

Oh, no! I hope he enjoys the bag-of-candy-apology!
-
The rest of the show is scripted.
Yes, and all of the "mistakes" are scripted, too. :D
-
Well the "chaos" just has suggested things that the actors talk about...the crew is still working on the set, the actors are looking for a dog that has gone missing, everyone just does general mucking about.
Then the director chases us all offstage so he can give his curtain speech.
I may need to see this for myself.
Yes! Highly recommended!
-
The Play That Goes Wrong - I'm sure some adventurous theeder group will be doing it near you soon.
There's a one-act (and one-storey set) version and a two-act (and two-storey set) version.
-
I ran the sound board for the one-act version here in Olympia. :)
-
I also once took a helicopter ride through the Grand Canyon.
Cool! A former co-worker and her husband took a helicopter ride over Mount St. Helen's. She said it was amazing.

Apparently, TCM is undergoing such upheaval that the channel may be dead soon. Sad. It’s the only channel I would watch besides PbS and MSNBC.
-
Halfway through a documentary on Elizabeth Gaskell. Fascinating. I need to read more of her.

I just saw this article:
Dear David Zaslav: Gutting TCM Will Not Help You Win Filmmakers Back to Warner Bros. (https://www.indiewire.com/features/commentary/tcm-layoffs-warner-bros-spielberg-scorsese-paul-thomas-anderson-protest-1234877220/)
Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, and Paul Thomas Anderson have organized an emergency call to David Zaslav that will take place today to advocate for saving one of the greatest brands in cinephilia.
-
I hope it works.
-
Ida Strauss declined a lifeboat to stay with her husband.
-
Good night, all.
-
One of the actors leaned over and asked if we were OK
;D

Which just set us off again

:(
-
I am going to attempt to go to sleep.
-
Between my coughing and my headache it will be a challenge.
-
I feel bed for Keith having to listen to me.
-
I don't have another room to stay in until I stop coughing.
-
I got us to page 11.
-
'night.
-
Yikes! There are helicopters (plural!) flying over! :o
-
One at a time. :P
-
To clear up what has been a major mis-reported thing, Scorsese, Spielberg, and Anderson did not call him for a meeting. Zaslav called THEM.
-

Oh no! Add it to the file of things too good to last.

Back from our second performance - couldn't believe it - they rarely have more than twenty audience members for these staged reading things, but tonight we had seventy and they were a wonderful audience. Actors did well and everything went pretty smoothly. Lots of laughs. It's amazing that any of it works with actors having to be glued to their scripts, but the jokes are funny and they pretty much land, but it will be so much better with a proper rehearsal period where we can hone everything and they can actually play off each other. Plus, I have some gags in mind that will really help the top of the play.
-
After, we had a little partay for the cast. I split after about thirty minutes.

That's wonderful, BK! Congrats to all of you!!
-
Are the chances good for a full production, BK?
-
Went down to mainland, Washington, USA for eye doctor checkups for the kids. Hit Costco on the way and our favorite Thai on the way back. A successful journey.
-
That's great, Rodzinski!
-
We discovered the Secret of Costco. Go when you have an appointment elsewhere in a half hour, leaving yourself less than 20 minutes to shop. It’s amazing how laser-focused and efficient you can be. We only got like 10 things we hadn’t planned on.
-
Our scheme was nearly foiled by a slow woman ahead of us in line paying all in crumpled dollar bills.
-
So, does anyone order from Domino's Pizza? According to this guy, there are discount codes that you can enter when ordering large or medium pizzas online to pick up that will give you 40% discounts! Watch this YouTube short:

Yikes! Does your Costco have the self-checkout aisles? Only cards can be used at those. The Tumwater Costco has them and it's quite helpful...except when people go through with carts filled with a lot of stuff. THAT takes up time there. ::)
-
I had to give the Mrs a hard time for choosing that line because she always feels I choose the wrong lines at the border. “If you’d have picked that line, we’d be three cars ahead,” etc.

We considered it, but in our haste didn’t want to try self checkout there for the first time. We had wine and stuff that might have complicated things.
-
Whatever this dude says after talking to Spielberg et al, he’s clearly going to screw up TCM. It really needs no change. It was eclectic in approach, not slavish to “the classics” though you could see them, of course. It was a public resource, really, and shouldn’t be messed around with by a hotshot with big ideas.
-
You think there will ever be a Wheeler and Woolsey night under new management? Unlikely. They’ll just stop showing all but the most well-known movies from the ‘30s. Like terrestrial oldies radio has left behind the ‘50s and prior.
-
The thing about the Pogue guy’s viral CBS morning report about the submersible from a couple years ago is it’s actually poor journalism. Like the clues of the slipshod nature of the operation are all there and the guy kinda laughs it off while making Titanic movie jokes. It was clearly a case of tv access given to generate hype, and probably inspired a billionaire or two to sign up.
-
Enough ranting, let’s get to 12!
-
Before BK shuts this day off.
-
Because we are beyond 12 of the clock.
-
The longest day is over.
-
Days will only be shorter now.
-
We have peaked.
-
When I was a kid I didn’t understand how one day could be longer than another. They all have 24 hours!
-
12 by the skin of our teethy teeth teeth.
-

My sister always feels like SHE chooses the wrong lines...and I do, too. ;)
-
I’m at peace knowing no matter what line I choose, it’s the wrong one.
-
Gratuitous Post #333!!

I don't think it would have. Someone signs every receipt at the time you go through those checkouts, so they make sure everything's okay and I've never had a problem.
-
Then sometimes I get a pleasant surprise!

Neil Sedaka has been doing mini concerts on YouTube since the pandemic began.

I do think there's a good chance of a full production.

New notes are up.

Up are new notes.

I've seen them.
-
I've read them.

I wrote them.

Now they can be read by others.

To be clearer, others can now read them.

The Others.
