Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of the goody, and now it is time for you to post until the slaving away on the goody cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PUNGENT!
-
Topic of the Day:
Looper
The Martian (I just realized that he was also in "My Favorite Martian," which I didn't see)
Pleasantville
I think that those are the only movies that I've seen Jeff Daniels in. :-\
-
Good morning, friends.

How charming, Singdaw. Does anyone read email anymore?
-
Good morning, all!

I got up at 6:00. That was followed bvy two hours of hell jam packed with a steady stream of computer, health, and feline issues. We seem to be back to status quo for the moment, but once I am off the computer in another ten minutes, I must tidy up the fall-out from the two hours of hell.
-
I like Jeff Daniels as an actor, but I must say that in my two close encounters at The Drama Book Shop between 1985 and 1996 he was a rude, unfriendly creep. I don't know who was worse, him or F. Murray Abraham.
-
Good morning
-
Yesterday immediately after arriving home from work , I changed into my non work clothes and Vixdad and I went to my mom’s where we collected my Mom and my visiting niece and took them out to dinner
-
Then we took the niece to the airport
-
By time we dropped mom back home and got home ourselves I was exhausted and went right to bed
-
Which is why I didn’t open my mail until just now
-
Harvey arrived!
-
But now I must Wordle and go to work

Jeff Daniels was never better than in Dumb and Dumber.
-
A buddy of mine told me I needed to go see Dumb and Dumber when it came out. I was visiting my gf in Savannah, GA. So she and I planned a trip to the movies. Then her parents glommed on. Her mom was a gradeschool principal, very serious and staid. The type that made Marilla Cuthbert look like a party animal. The parents wanted to see Little Women. Me being dumb, if not dumber, and not knowing yet about picking hills to die on, suggested privately that they go see Little Women and we (or I) could go see the movie I wanted to see in the first place. This turned into an argument that ended in, “Fine, we’ll ALL go see Dumb and Dumber.”
I never sweated and cringed as much in my life as I did while watching that sordid affair unfold on the big screen while the gf’s mom sat stone-faced beside me.
A week later in ATL, I took my own mom and we laughed our heads off.

Wordle: 2/6

Today’s Wordle word is a good one to start with.
-
Never saw Dumb and Dumber. Never saw the original Terminator. Never saw Avatar. Never saw The House on Carroll Street. I have such a limited film-watching existence.

I call this one lightning bolt with double rainbow.

Yeah. You should watch more.

Good news about DF Carol, DR John G.
-
I confess I went through his filmography.
I have seen a lot more than those I listed, but those are ones in which I found hm wholly effective and charming. Few have seen "Grand Tour: Disaster in Time", but I was mesmerized with the story twists when I saw it on a cable movie channel many years ago.
-
I shan't be boorish:
GOOD MORROW to you all!
Even if it IS Tuesday and should remain so for the rest of the week.
-
DR Rodzinski: I always cringe when a plan I have with a friend takes a turn when others invite themselves along and then try to change my plans.
If you go to a festive place with a load of folks, why must everyone stay together and only ride the same rides, eat the same junk food and play the same games?
I simply go my own way, with a friend or two, and we meet up later. There is always pouting from those not part of the original plan.
Control freaks.
-
Also, DR Rodzinski, I've been meaning to ask:
Where are you "from"? Born and raised?
You have mentioned a time when you were in Clemson SC, Atlanta and Savannah.
Yet, I had it in my head that you were from one of our northern states.
-

I slept late this morning, not getting up until 9:55 a.m.
I almost got up shortly before 7 a.m., and that was because of some creature on the other side of the window above my bed croaking out his mating call for what seemed an interminable time.
I waited for a bit and then decided I would get up to make coffee. Suddenly, he stopped, my brain shut down and I drifted off for a couple of more hours.
Living in a rural community, on a pond, has its advantages and some disadvantages. The latter includes wildlife doing its mating in my side yard. Geese, frogs, and all other manner of living critters mate themselves into a frenzy every year. Usually, it's the geese I hear the most. But if I sit outside in early summer, in the evenings, there is a symphony of sound.
This is why I have an Amazon Echo unit in my bedroom. I tell it to play "rain sounds" each evening and I adjust the volume to whatever noises come from outside.
More often than not, the rain sounds play all through the night and don't stop unitl I tell "Alexa" to stop.
Sometimes, however, Alexa stops on her own...and I find myself waking up to total quiet and wondering why I have awakened and why is it so quiet. Only takes a few seconds, though...to have the sound resume and drift back off to sleep.
-
Very important (and good) decision today from the Supreme Court. Breathing a sigh of relief.
-
Such a day! Surely it cannot get any worse.
-
I am finally sitting down to the ballet. The cleanup today, after the morning's tsuris, took forever.

That croaking from the bullfrog outside our bedroom drove me nuts. The downside of our beautiful pond in Ashland.

Keith prefers his whiteout machine to Alexa. He also has a smaller one for traveling.

I don't get news on my tablet. Is this about redistricting?
-
Yes, in a way. Supreme Court rejects controversial Trump-backed election theory.

Thanks.

Kids these days swear that they won't watch anything in black and white. Too old-fashioned. Pshaw.
When my niece was much younger, she also didn't like black and white movies.
-
My dad introduced her to some good B&W movies, and they would watch them together.
-
He would explain things to her when she had questions, and after not too long, she found that she really liked B&W movies...not because they were B&W, but because they were good movies that had good acting!
-
Now, she has her favorite actresses (and some actors) from the time, and she cherishes the memories of watching movies with her Opa (my dad).

ACT TWO is in my head.....but I shall work on it for a couple of more hours before I have to drive to the theeder.
-
Last night I was sure I had said something and the prompter kept giving me the cue and I thought SHE was wrong......this rarely happens just in case you find yourself in that position.
-
A new backstage person joined us last night - the idiot from last year's production of CLUE.
And she has NOT improved her skills in any way. She likes to be standing in exactly the wrong place and in the way of people who are trying to work.....every damned time....usually looking at her phone.
-
She assured me last night that she has seen the play and knows it backwards and forwards and will be of a great help if any of us needs to know anything about it.....as she looked at me when I handed her a prop.....
-
What's this?

What was it when you saw the play?

The excitement of a new book, then the frustration of not being able to check it out. That just isn't right. You used to be able to determine if there was a Kindle option before putting a hold on a book.

Back from a lovely luncheon with Kay Cole.
-
She loved Sami.
-
And now she'll read Preview Harvey. Almost ready to send out the goody.
-
But first - a poll - just out of curiosity, as I'm getting ready to write a mass e-mail to my eBlast list of close personal friends, very few of whom order my book or watch Sami.
-
Who here has watched Sami? Who here hasn't watched Sami and if that's the case, why? Who here has watched it but not done an Amazon review (I know Jane hates doing that, so that's one down). There's no right or wrong answer, but before I craft the email that I really need to write, I'd love to hear the answers.
-
I think I just hit a nice new number, postings-wise.

I didn't capture the round number, but I got the one after it.

I have watched Sami at least 4 times through already.

And left reviews on Amazon and on IMBD.

Julian Sands has been found dead.
Ah, I see they have confirmed the remains they found a couple of days ago are his.

I’m a child like Harold Hill, of Gary, Indiana. But my family migrated south in the mid-‘80s. During college at UGA, I worked at a summer camp in the SC mountains.
Which camp??
Camp Chatuga in Mountain Rest.
That's an area of SC I have never seen. I may have been to Walhalla once in my life, but never heard of Mountain Rest. I spent a week as a counselor for a church group at Camp Old Indian, north of Greenville.
That was...(ahem) a "few" years ago...back in the summer of '69.

We walked around downtown today, beginning with a stop to get the nose pads replaced on my glasses.
-
Do you remember when you could stop in any place to do little repairs on glasses and there was never a charge?
-
Now it is $3.00 per nose pad.
-
Since there wasn't a match to what I already had, I needed two pads.
-
I expected the charge and the need for a pair vs one.
-
After our walk we went to the Thai restaurant for dinner.
-
I am stuffed.

Julian Sands has been found dead.

I thought they had already confirmed this. I guess it wasn't official until today.
-
The Quiet Girl was devastating, just as the book was.
-
I watched Sami and read Preview Harvry. Reviews posted on both.
-
I needed a comedy after the Irish movie, so I put on My Man Godfrey, the David Niven remake. June Allyson is no Carol Lombard.

I received the Preview Harvey goody via email, but per instructions, I will wait until I've read the book.
-
Good night, friends.
-
Bruce, I don’t know if you read posts on page 7, but I loved all 41 pages of the of the attachment.
-
I have received the attachment and I looked at a few pages......but I will wait until weekend to look at it all after I have read THE BOOK.
-
Congrats to MR BK on the new milestone.
-
Lots of interesting comments today and folks doing interesting things.
It's nice to know that things are still going on in the world in addition to the usual......stuff.....that makes the news.
-
I watched and enjoyed SAMI and wrote and edited an AMAZON review.....I also linked a few times on my Facebook page.
-
The Mystery Plays' first read-through!
-
Richard Deacon just appeared in this movie and the sight of him made me laugh. What a great character actor.
-
Gratuitous post 199!
-
Started the first episode of The Night Manager. Didn’t know Olivia Coleman was in this. Good news.
-
201!!
-
elmore, it makes me very happy that you loved Sami. Is there some reason not to leave an Amazon review. I say that, because they are very helpful for the Amazon metrics. Guess elmore won't be reading the new book for quite some time. How much more ballet is there? Thanks for the answers everyone, they are helpful.
-
I do not care for page seven.
-
It’s too darn hot.
-
It must be said.
-
And it has been said.
-
I had to bring in a couple of new plants.
-
I had a chicken Caesar for lunch and just had a slice of pizza from Big Mama's and Papa's Pizza - the slice resembled a small country in size.
-
One more
-
Eight!
-
We’re off page seven!
-
Made tacos tonight for vacation Bible school at church.
-
Vixmom, it was another fishes and loaves experience.
-
And we had plenty of leftovers for tomorrow.
-
What we didn’t have were a lot of kids.
-
But we had plenty of hungry adults.
-
Maybe it was fishes and tortillas.
-
I'm back from my HELL day, and boy did I ever NOT overestimate that. I was just quickly ketchuping, but I'll respond to BK's poll.
I binge-watched SAMI the morning it went live, and left a review later that day (the first review of mine that took several DAYS to appear, which I can hardly forget). I've subsequently rewatched a couple of the individual episodes, but rest assured I'll be enjoying more binge-watchings.
Obviously I read HARVEY a few times, and yes I left a review.
-
Both Preview Harvey and the e-mailed special stuff have arrived in Tumwater!
-
Good night, all.
-
Good night, John.

;D

There isn't much to watch in our hotel room.
-
We have reruns of Mad About You.
-
Movies on TCM.
-
Tonight we watched TWO WEEKS IN ANOTHER TOWN.
-
'night.
-
I watched all of Sami and a couple episodes twice. I am Amazon-phobic, so I don’t have an account. But I did write a review on IMDb that 5 out of 5 people find useful.
-
I’m a child like Harold Hill, of Gary, Indiana.
Chatuga was around back then. If you’ve been to Walhalla, you’ve been very close. If you do go that way again be sure to stop at Stumphouse Tunnel park, an abandoned railroad tunnel from pre Civil War days.

I would order a softcover Harvey if I could do it direct, not via Amazon.
-
Unfortunately, I don't have any softcovers. Do you do Barnes & Noble? Or you could order direct from Author House, too.
-
Oh yes, I could order from B&N!
-
I shall do that tomorrow. Someone wrote an excellent review on B&N.

I shall do that tomorrow. Someone wrote an excellent review on B&N.
That is an excellent review. I found it helpful, and clicked on the button to indicate that!

George, I gather you collect keychains. Any keychains or specific types?
-
George, I gather you collect keychains. Any keychains or specific types?
I DO collect keychains (aka key rings)! No specific type...any and all are 'appily accepted! ;D
-
Okay, let's get off this samn page while we're all here and feeling our various and sundried oats.
-
Didn't we used to do keychains for the books?
-
Is there gaslighting going on?
-
See?
-
Now, get me off this damn page.
-
We must not drop down - we must keep our record-breaking year going strong.
-
I, on the other hand, am nauseous.
-
That is a fact.
-
There is no disputing it.
-
Try as some will.
-
I am really heading toward a REALLY large posting total.
-
I just am.
-
Did George go down a damn rabbit hole, just like that?
-
Why?
-
What?
-
I can't hear you.
-
Did you say something?
-
That was a nice review on Barnes & Noble. I think it's some woman in the mid-west who loves my books, she and her daughter. They e-mailed me once to tell me so.
-
Get OUT of that damn rabbit hole right this very minute!
-
Don't make me whup you to a frazzle.
-
George actually left the damn room.
-
I thought we had an understanding.
-
But apparently the understanding has not been understood.
-
Clearly.
-
Because here I am, doing a damn monologue.
-
All by myself.
-
Like Eric Carmen.
-
Sad to be all alone in the world.
-
Pook.
-
One of these days I'm gonna find out WHICH rabbit hole George has gone down and I am going to down there and give him a what for and jack him back here by his bootstraps.
-
I just don't know.
-
It seems rather odd.
-
It seems rather strange.
-
Page ten.
-
All by my lonesome.
-
Unbelievable. Just up and disappears and never comes back. Demerits are in order.
-
Big boy demerits.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
And now they can be read by the populace.
-
Well, at least there's one GUEST in this topic.
