~~~Continued Vibes for Major Miracles for BK!!~~~
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept rather well, and even better, the morning has been quiet with none of yesterday's trauma. Today my helper Mario is coming over, and we will begin to tackle the books.
-
BK, my goal is to finish the ballet by September 1. I have 15 more numbers in Act Two before I finish.
Good morning, friends.
Absolutely nothing noteworthy happened overnight in this household.
Your mileage may vary.
~~~CONTINUED MAJOR MIRACLE VIBES~~~ for the likes of BK!!!!!!!!!
-
I had a Blackberry phone, early on. It was OK. My thumbs were too big to type effectively on those little keys.

Good morning, all.

Major miracle vibes for MR BK.
-
I am glad that DR CHAS SMITH survived.
-
Air quality is still very bad here....there is a haze over everything....it's like The Day The Earth Caught Fire.
-
Going to the gasoline station and the bank in a bit.
-
DR JANE I have watched TWO WEEKS IN ANOTHER TOWN a few times....and I watched a bit of it last night....George Hamilton is so awful.....and the wigs on Cyd Charisse are most distracting......
-
....there is a haze over everything....
Somehow I don't think it's the bright golden haze on the meadow that Hammerstein was contemplating.
-
Air quality here is still unhealthy.

Good morning!

BK---I watched Sami, enjoyed it very much and wrote a review.
-
I ordered the paperback edition of "Preview Harvey." Looking forward to reading it!

My history with technology is a bit helter-skelter.
I could go with computers, but you wouldn't be interested.
I had experience in 1993, while in the Persian Gulf on USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63), with satellite phones. First, we had a large number of media crews onboard as our air wing carried out strikes on Iraq after it broke "no-fly zone" agreements.
All the media had satellite phones with which they called in stories. CBS' team even offered crewmembers a chance to call home at various points during their stay.
Our office had one that allowed us to not only call anywhere but to transmit photos of military interest (non-confidential) to Washington offices of the Navy Office of Information.
When I became a civilian in 1994, I became a temp, and later a full-time employee, with the County of Alameda. In the General Services Agency, all the upper mucks (department heads and special assistants) got Blackberries. I found it quite useful when I could call my boss via landline to her Blackberry, which she had on her person at all times. Hilariously, she didn't always realize she hadn't turned it off, and I could hear conversations with folks wherever she was...usually in coffee shops and bakeries.
I bought a pay-as-you-go cellphone from QVC in the late 1990s. I thought it would be nice to have it for emergencies, but not necessarily for anything else. Such was my mindset at that time.
I don't recall when I bought my first subscription phone, but it was a nice change from the pay-as-you-go.
Ultimately, I bought an iPhone around 2010 or so. I know it changed my life in many ways. It also became the bane of human existence when i would be in a supermarket and someone would be talking away at no one in sight and be completely oblivious to the rest of the world. I still find that both amusing and very sad.
Sigh.
-
Good morning. Wednesday is here.
I won't complain.
-
Today, I shall make a trip to the County recycling center with a load of cardboard and styrofoam that has been collecting in my trunk.
From there, I shall drive to Cook's Roadside Produce where I hope to procure many fresh, succulent vegetables to enhance my larder.
I would actually love to do something else...something different from the norm...to add a bit of spark to my day. Don't know if I will act on a whim or not.
-
DR Rodzinski: Thank for you the recommendation for the Stumphouse Tunnel railroad site. I am not certain what might take me to that area of the state, but I may just get a case of wanderlust and visit one day.

I check the weather for my kids everyday and they both say bad air quality. The grandkid lives by a lake and it is usually better there.

I tune in to see this film every time it airs. I love the film score by David Raksin. It's a so-so film that had potential. Inevitable comparisons with "The Bad and the Beautiful" don't help, but as it seems more a sequel with Kirk Douglas as star (but as a different character), it has its moments.

I don't know what we, in South Carolina, have done to deserve being spared the horrible heat wave afflicting much of the south.
Am grateful we are not in triple digits...yet. I hope it breaks without moving in on us.
-
I hope the lake theory holds up. I am reading the air quality in the city is 222.
-
DR Singdaw I believe that is higher than your unpleasant air quality.
-
I did not have a Blackberry.
-
Instead of a Blackberry, Keith had Palm Treo.
-
It was morning
You obviously needed to sleep.
-
Rabbit Hole alert: I was curious if BK’s lunch date Kay Cole was any relation to Tina Cole of My Three Sons. She’d been in the news in regards to the illness of Dawn “Dodie” Lyn, who is sister to Leif Garrett. Tina is no relation to Kay, but Tina is the daughter of famed organist Buddy Cole and one of the King Sisters.
Then you have Chip and Ernie, real-life Livingston brothers. And Don Agrati, aka Don Grady, brother to Lani Agrati, aka Lani O’Grady of Eight Is Enough. Tim Considine’s brother was skilled actor John Considine. Meredith MacRae is Gordon’s kid. And Ronne Troup, who played Chip’s wife, is Bobby Troup’s kid.
Thus, every principle on that show besides Fred MacMurray and Uncles Bud and Charlie were blood-related to someone else famous.
-
The Palm Treo was probably the first smart phone.
-
Rodzinski, your rabbit hole was interesting.
-
I'm still trying to get my medication, this time from a different company. The savings is better than buying it at my local pharmacy, but nothing compared to the incredible savings from Canada.
-
I could use some vibes it is mailed today, and received before we return to Bend.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I stayed up rather late last night, logged in briefly, then finally collapsed. Thankfully, THE CAT let me sleep in quite late this morning, and I'm a little more rested. Now beginning to ketchup on my life a bit.
-
Good luck vibes for your meds, Jane!
-
The Blackberry phenomenon is certainly interesting, as it's become quite the cult.
I never paid it any attention, myself. Maybe I should have back then, because the first time I got a cell phone was in early 2002. When that was decided, I went with a Cingular Nokia - which I still have today, in a small box along with a couple of similar artifacts from my past that I find interesting.
Anyhoo, I'd like to see that movie or documentary or whatever it is, and however bad it is, just to learn a little something about the Blackberry and the craze.
Maybe later I'll take some photographic evidence of the two early cell phones I have stored away. They truly are artifacts!
-
The Preview Harvey Scrapbook is great, and of a very generous length. I had pictured something maybe several pages long, but this is fine indeed. Thank you, BK.
-
Sidenote that Don Grady who’d had a minor hit single with his band the Yellow Balloon, also put out a quite enjoyable solo LP in 1973 under his real name.
-
I never had a blackberry or understood what they did. I was a bit late even to the cellphone world.
-
Good luck vibes for your meds, Jane!
Thank you.

More to BK's poll of yesterday --
I've just generally made it a point to try to get a positive review up of each book soon after its release. I know it helps the visibility and all, because I'd been educated on that from a couple of friends prior to getting to know BK's books.
Usually I have no trouble deciding what in each book to focus on, and I usually take a few days to let the thoughts gel before submitting. But I'm also thinking about that right after reading so that it doesn't take too long to get something up there.
The only time it's ever seemed a bit of a challenge was when I'd done a few Adriana Hofstetters, and then more came out -- and as much as I loved them, I remember struggling a bit to find a unique approach to each one. It always came to me, of course, but I do remember that happening at one point.
For whatever all of that is worth. :)
-
I never had a blackberry or understood what they did. I was a bit late even to the cellphone world.
I was definitely late to it in 2002. I remember hearing about the development of such things in the mid-1980s, but that seemed all part of a fantastical world back then and I paid it no mind. By the turn of the millenium, cell phones were a fairly common thing. But still I didn't really think of it as being for me.
What's really crazy is that for me, like perhaps for others, there was a definite turning point at which I knew I would go from being someone without any such device, to one of those people who now has a cell phone, whoop-de-doo. My own li'l "epiphany" was ... wait for it ... 9/11.
I knew then that in any kind of large scale disaster, land line communication would most likely be completely out or clogged for a while, and there was a far better chance of cell towers being still useful, or becoming useful much sooner. But even then, it took me from September 2001 till around April of 2002 to finally decide it was time to get off of my ARSE and go into a cell store and take that plunge.

Home again, home again
Jiggety-jig!
I have decided to waylay my wanderlust looking for something new. i rid myself of recyclables, had a pleasant drive to Cook's and shopped fresh stuff. Got some Vidalia onions, some maters, a green tomato for fried green tomatoes (!), some okra, some cucumbers, some corn and some squash.
This should all contribute to nutritional regularity.
-
For plain ole regularity, there's always Metamucil.
-
Today, I saw a very dirty/dusty SUV. Into the back window grime, someone had inscribed this literary gem:
Cowboy butts drive me nuts.
-
Garrison Keillor (of A Prairie Home Companion fame) used to own a bookstore in Saint Paul located in the basement of a coffee shop. It was called SubText.
-
For plain ole regularity, there's always Metamucil.
And then, there is OmegaXL, the current TV ad for which drives me bonkers. This little retired emergency services worker from "Noo Yawk" rattles on and on and on about it and how it really changed her life. In it she wears a quilted coat that covers her from neck to just below her knees.
And the ad goes on and on and on....
-
...and on and on.
-
And just when you think you've heard the last horrible syllable uttered from her mouth, the ad returns to her...again and again.
-
I have been annoyed by many TV ads over the years, but this one truly drives me crazy.

My helper Mario accomplished a great deal today. The huge pile of books is now a small couple of stacks, and the rest were either put on the shelves or into cartons for our DR ChasSmith to pick up in the next couple of weeks. I was so active that my legs no longer want to work today, so getting around the past hour has been difficult. I fed the cats, and then ordered from McDonald's. The French fries tasted really good today.
-
Tomorrow we tackle the crucial area of bookshelves behind my bed. It's a real disaster area, thanks to Annabelle's climbing and knocking books to the floor.

DR George - did you know this?
Fun fact: The "Love of Chair" segment from the original '70s version of the TV series The Electric Company always concluded with the mysterious question, "What about Naomi?" This was an inside joke, referring to a woman named Naomi Foner, who was one of the original producers of the series. Later on, Naomi gave birth to two children. Those children were Maggie Gyllenhaal and Jake Gyllenhaal.

That was fascinating, as I had a two-thirty lunch meeting.
-
I called the guy immediately and told him to hang tight and I'd be there in fifteen minutes.

What did page seven ever do to you?
-
Having a Chinese chicken salad for main meal - the sandwich was pretty small and I didn't have fries or onion rings with it.

So, this is nice and healthy.
-
I am leery of graphic.

Flibbertigibbets, as it were.
-
My air quality index right now it 87.
-
I'm not sure I spelled that right.
-
EIGHT!
-
Rehearsal was.....what it was.
But we did do the whole show from the tippy top to the buggy bottom.
-
Spelling doesn't count in horseshoes.
-
I am enjoying reading about all the blackberries and other obsolete media....
I never had one......

I am going to work on the slideshow for the YOUTH THEATRE WORKSHOP.....so that there is something for folks to watch in the lobby.
-
I never had a Blackberry but there were blackberries in the cobbler.
-
I may do that tonight so that tomorrow I can concentrate on my lines for ACT TWO.....not bad today.....but still needs some work.
-
As opposed to Lucky Vanous.
Wow! I haven't thought about Lucky Vanous in 20 years!!
-
The linking chain of the handcuffs got put through the cuff that ended up on my wrist.....so it never got attached to the leg of the couch.....but there was not ROOM for my wrist either....painful.
BUT the director has agreed that we don't have to take the stretcher poles up on the platform which is a great relief to the likes of me.
-
My head shot as Dennis will soon be available.....but then again I may just save it until Jrand73 makes his appearance in just two months.
-
How can that be?
Hard to imagine.
-
I hope a stretcher is not needed, DR Jrand72.
-
So I shall be off.
-
DR JANE I forgot about the car wreck in the movie....on purpose.
-
With Lil Rodszinski girl starting kindygarten next year, my run as stay-at-home dad comes to a close. And I’ll need something to do. Preferably something that pays.
Have you been looking around? Can you opt to work in Canada? Will you seek a WFH job or do you prefer going in to an office?
-
I used to know the difference between a cobbler, a crisp, a slump, a grunt, and a pandowdy.
But I've forgotten.
-
I enjoyed DR RON PULLIAM's story about the early days of the WIRELESS PHONE.
And I think it's something very familiar to us......why would we ever want/need such a thing?

:o
-
I shall have to sample each again to regain my memory.
-
And by sample, I mean scarf down.
-
DR JANE I forgot about the car wreck in the movie....on purpose.
Lol, we would like to forget it.
-
I love all the British names who show up in one show after the other. Tom Hollander was in Wives and Daughters. He’s also in Night Manager.

:o
He is going to start sleeping so much better! And it should benefit his thought processes, as well.
-
I am quite comfortable with my CPAP. Hate cleaning all the equipment every day, though.
-
I used to use an ozone machine to do the job, but now they say this can cause the materials to degrade.
-
So it's back to soap and water.
-
Page eight is flying by.
-
Before you know it,
-
NINE
-
So it's back to soap and water.
Thank goodness!
-
Good night, friends.
-
Oh, and ~~~SAFE TRAVEL HOME VIBES~~~ for you tomorrow, DR Jane!

Mine don't seem to have been harmed by it.
Of course, the first time I got a CPAP and questioned how often I should clean it, I was told once a week would be enough. I thought very differently about that after a few uses, and so I washed it quite often.
Love my SoClean CPAP cleaner, though.
-
Good night, friends.
Night all!

Nice quote from David Richards, for New York Times theater critic who has died.
“The theater allows us to encounter a far greater tangle of human behavior than we ever do in the course of daily living,” he once wrote of his driving motivation as a critic. “It is a celebration of our multiple possibilities as human beings. At its best, theater leaves us with one sure thought: There but for the whimsies of fate, go I.”
-
Oh, and ~~~SAFE TRAVEL HOME VIBES~~~ for you tomorrow, DR Jane!
Thank you.

Camelot is closing early.
-
Our town becomes like 3x as populated starting this weekend as all the Canadians with vacation homes descend.
Is that a good thing?
For some things yes. Our local supermarket and our local restaurant benefit from customers now so it can survive during the winter. Can mean long lines at our little border though.

Camelot is closing early.
One brief, not-so-shining moment.
-
Good night, all.

We have lived in a couple of tourist towns. The border issue is an interesting situation.

'night

I'm off to my mom's for some burgers.
I don't know if they're fully cooked patties, or raw and need to be cooked patties, but either way, they're going to be good.
Until later!
They were raw patties that needed to be cooked, so my mom defrosted them in the microwave, then pan-fried them.
-
I had two and they were pretty darned good.
-
We then played Phase 10 and my mom won both games...although we were very close on both games.
-
Then I came home, which is where I am now.
-
Now, to ketchup on the posts.
-
Rodzinski Jr finishes 2nd grade tomorrow. Just a couple hours at school tomorrow for some reason. Then summer is ON.
Congrats to Rodzinski Jr!
-
DR George, if the patties are uncooked, are you the grillmaster?
Not this time. My mom fried them on the stove top.
-
DR George, I got the $5 per month offer from Sirius to continue. I suppose after the first year, it reverts to full price.
Cool! I got it for two years, though. ::)
-
Maybe you can contact them and talk them into extending because you know someone who got the deal for two years.
-
Camelot is closing early.
Oh...kay. ::)
-
At least, I got a physical CD of the cast recording!
-
Tomorrow, I'm working concessions (actually, barback) for the Washington Center's Center Stage Awards & Gala 2023.
-
I will actually working at the Olympia Ballroom, which is in the building right across the street from the WCPA.
-
My duties will be pouring beer, wine, a premixed signature cocktail, and cider for the gala event.
-
Guess I should write some damn notes.
-
What a wacko day this has been.
-
A day of Wacko.
-
If I lived in Waco it would have been Waco Wacko.
-
But I don't live in Waco.
-
Since I'm not a professional bartender, I only have to pour the premixed and single item stuff...no actually creating mixed drinks.
-
Oh, and the alarm went off at 11:30. Guess I forgot to change PM to AM. Oops.
-
At least that mystery is solved.
-
A mystery worthy of Miss Agatha herself.
-
Oh, look! It's Page Ten!
-
Oh, and the alarm went off at 11:30. Guess I forgot to change PM to AM. Oops.
I hate it when that happens!
-
My call time tomorrow is 3:45 pm, but I'll need to go downtown earlier to find parking...and pay for parking, since parking isn't free until 5:00 pm.
-
I'll definitely need to remember to bring some coins, and fortunately, I do have some coinage.
-
What?
-
Did someone say something?
-
I thought I heard something.
-
Maybe it was just the clickety-clack of my keyboard.
-
Scary.
-
Did George go down some damn rabbit hole.
-
I think he did.
-
New notes are up.
-
Did George go down some damn rabbit hole.
Why, yes, I did!
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've been looking at all the Bing Pictures of the Day from all the international Bing websites here:
https://bingwallpaper.anerg.com/ (https://bingwallpaper.anerg.com/)
It goes all the way back to 2009!
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
Check it out! It's pretty darned cool!
-
Now they can be read by people as far away as Persia.
-
The only Bings I know are Crosbys and Cherries.
-
I don't know from any other Bings.
-
I've heard of Bongs.
-
But never partaken of of one. I have, on the other hand, played the BONGOs.
