Well, you've read the notes, the notes were Jolly, and now it is time for you to post until the Jolly cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: GLOM!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
Welcome, 264 GUESTS!
-
And one George. ;)
-
BK, you're heading to a VERY momentous millstone very shortly!
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Just getting prepared to count my Mega Millions.
-
:)
-
Good morning, all.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept late because I was up too early the past two days to deal with Amazon Fresh. I slept rather well surrounded by three growing kittens.
-
Speaking of kittens, Jeremy sent me an illustration this morning to show me what he hoped the final illustrations for A&T will look like. This was not among the 23 illustrations he sent me, so I assume it's a reject. Maybe it should be the cover of the book?
-
I must finish No. 31 today, so I need to get to work.
-
Love it, DR elmore3003.
-
They look like they're having A JOLLY TIME.
-
A rave review for the Dorati mono box set in the latest Gramophone.
-
It's a JOLLY holiday with Mary.
-
I love that picture!
-
Hmmmmm I wonder if I’m rich yet
-
BAH! Another defective ticket!
-
However….
-
HOWEVER…..
-
DR Jrand72, the Goes Wrong folk have a new "Goes Wrong" production in rehearsal, according to my friend Simon Grief, who just saw a rehearsal: Mary Poppins Goes Wrong.
I can't wait!
-
I just realized I bought TWO powerball tickets
-
And I’ve checked the numbers on the second one …
-
AND…..
-
Winner winner chicken dinner!!!
-
DR vixmom, to answer your question from last night, I believe Amazon Fresh delivers from Queens.
-
;)
-
Actually, I’m not sure $4 will actually fully cover the cost of said dinner
-
But by gum and by golly I’m gonna rush on down to the seven eleven and grab my winnings!!
-
But first I’ll Wordle

Yes, you read that right. What the world needs now is nachos, sweet nachos.
-
In a bundt pan.
-
See? It's nachos.
-
In a bundt pan.

What will they think of next?

Congratulations on your winnings, DR vixmom.

Good morning.
It's a hazy day in Johnston SC, and 81 degrees.
Our AQI is 109. Yikes.
Rain is forecast for early afternoon.
-
Nice night of sleep with no memory of dreams.
-
I have an appointment with a podiatrist in Aiken SC this afternoon.
I hope to find a remedy to a callus on the ball of my right foot. This began last year a few months after I began having those sciatic nerve issues in my left hip that put me into physical therapy.
I believe the callus began because I was favoring my right foot so much while struggling with the pain.
The pain is gone, but the callus gets very large. I have self-administered callus reduction measures, but they are never enough.
Hopefully, today is the start of a solution.
-
"Morning Joe" is on in the background.
It is so depressing that well after two years, we still hear "Trump" every single day, multiple times a day.
Of course, it doesn't help that we have so many corrupt politicians in Congress still sucking up to him and attempting to downplay the man's criminal bent.
A couple of days ago, DJT had a town hall in which he claimed he received a subpoena notifying him he must answer questions about January 6.
Things he said includes the blatant lie that he didn't even know what a subpoena was and had to look it up. This from a man who has been in court most of his adult life, being sued over and over and over again.
He claims the Department of Justice "has been weaponized" and that this never happened before. Of course, he doesn't acknowledge that he totally weaponized both DOJ and the FBI. The folks he appointed to those agencies have all spoken out against him.
I continue to ask myself whether a complete news blackout of all things Trump might not be the end of him.
-
That's it.
That's all I've got.
I won't dance, don't ask me.

Nacho puddin'?
-
DR vixmom, to answer your question from last night, I believe Amazon Fresh delivers from Queens.
But do they deliver "to" them, as well?
-
I just realized I bought TWO powerball tickets
My purchase was for MegaMillions. No drawing until tonight!

Odd, to me, is that I don't know of any musicians who aspire to record solo albums like Hirt did...or Acker Bilk.
I am aware of one trumpet player -- Thomas Hooten -- who does classical recordings. Of course, there are pianists and violinists, but no one in popular music that I know.

Excellent illustration, Elmore.

Good morning!

Wordle: 5/6
-
Good morning, all.
-
I love the illustration.
-
DR singdaw we did have a short brush up rehearsal last night.
It was not the same without an audience.
-
Congrats to DR VIXMOM on her cash grab.
-
Hot day today.
Last night at rehearsal some bozo actor messed up the handcuffs....hopefully they can get them fixed before tonight's performance.
-
Page Three.
-
I go to the gym every day.
-
"The gym" is what I call the bathroom.
-
We only have about 10 tickets left for tonight's performance, I hope it is a lively group.
-
And of course auditions for Morning's At Seven are this Sunday and Monday.
-
Where is my get up and go this morning? I ask you.
-
It got up and went?
-
Illustrations are looking good, DR Elmore.
-
~~~AUDITIONS VIBES~~~ for DR Jrand72!!!!
-
Spare a few bucks till payday, DR vixmom?
-
Corn.
-
All joking aside, ~~~RELIEF VIBES~~~ for DR Ron Pulliam.
-
Congrats to DR VIXMOM on her cash grab.
She should invest it into a MegaMillions ticket.
I really enjoyed watching the 1964 Shock Treatment last night. Most gratifying after decades of waiting for it. But believe it or not, I remain uncertain as to whether I saw it as a kid back then. Incredible, no?
Interesting but too-fleeting LA location shots in the film.
I have the movie tie-in paperback of the novel it’s based on. Have to see if it looks like a decent quick read.
Once I won a compilation set someone made of every instrumental song to make Billboard’s Hot 100 in the 1960s. I did the math. There were more instrumental hits in 1961 alone than in all the years from 1970 to the present. Not sure why instrumental pop hits dried up so much.
-
I’m avoiding spoilers, but as enjoyable as it is, it seems like the main weakness of the film is the rushed aspect of one element of its conclusion.
Edit: Actually, the MAIN element of its conclusion. ;) Not to put too fine a point on it.
Also, it’s always been interesting how it almost immediately followed the release of Sam Fuller’s Shock Corridor. Similar themes on the surface, of course, but the two are wildly different animals.
Me, either.
I really loved Mason Williams' "Classical Gas".
Instead of great instrumentals, we get over-processed vocals by modestly talented singers.
-
DR Jeanne I am glad your experience with the dealership went well.
-
DR Vixmom I would happily visit you in Turtle Bay.
-
DR Rodzinski, it is nice to know Austin Pendleton was cool during your interview.
Wednesday afternoon greetings! Today Richard and I are returning to downsizing work here at home after delivering donations to Goodwill and the AAUW book sale site and having great piles of trash picked up yesterday from our curb.
-
I'm up, I'm up - maybe four hours of sleep. Will try for more but later. I think I'll do a quick Gelson's run and get something to eat, although I'm not really in the mood for anything, frankly.
-
I do have my 50% off coupon, but you have to spend 25 to use it, then they add 10.00 in fees and a tip so that eats up the 50% and you're paying at least the 25, which is, on the face of it, insane.
My journey down memory lane today was via a shelf full of souvenir program books, from which I’ve selected 5 that are must-keeps. The others are sorted into live shows (Broadway and touring companies), “road show” movies, and miscellaneous (one Peter, Paul, and Mary concert, one Kingston Trio, and the 1984 tour of figure skating champions).
Is anyone here interested in knowing what’s in those first 2 categories?
-
I have a lot of this stuff, but I'd certainly be interested in hearing about the shows and the roadshow movies.
DR Ginny, the closing cast for SWEENEY TODD starred Dorothy Loudon and George Hearn. Are they in your program?
DR Ginny, the closing cast for SWEENEY TODD starred Dorothy Loudon and George Hearn. Are they in your program?
Yes, they are, DR Elmore. DR ChasSmith might even let you look at it sometime 😉
I saw that show when I was in New York for ALA in 1980, when we saw OKLAHOMA with Christine Andreas and the movie version of FAME. Remember?
-
It'll cost him! :D
-
I had to call Jeremy and tell him to sign every drawing he sends me. I'm still raving about his work.
In 2008. during the Great Bedbug infestation, all of my programs and playbills of the past 35 years went to Miami University. I had the souvenir program of SWEENEY TODD with the original cast among them. I remember how much we enjoyed the OKLAHOMA!
I’ve started the new Paul Rudnick novel, Farrell Covington and the Limits of Style. It’s overlong and underdeveloped.
Good morning.
It's a hazy day in Johnston SC, and 81 degrees.
Our AQI is 109. Yikes.
Rain is forecast for early afternoon.
Today, after ushering and dining, I drove Margo home and this was the temperature outside of my car:
Yikes is right!! :o
I am back from my podiatry appointment. Actually, I have been back for five hours, but who is counting?
Dr. Molnar is a very nice lady who wasn't at all disgusted/distressed/dismayed by the bottom of my right foot, even though there was a large, protruding callus and a lot of dead skin around it that HAD been a blister which popped at some point last week (yes, I know, that is disgusting, but it happened).
As we chatted, she was busily extracting dead skin from the bottom of my foot. And when she was done, there was a smooth, even surface that I had not experienced for more than a year!!
I am on antibiotics for ten days, and I have a prescription anti-fungal ointment.
But the feeling is great.
-
I did not go to Sam's Club when I was finished with my Aiken appointment.
Instead, I went across town to a major shopping district where I picked up my meds. Then, I went to the Fresh Market. I haven't been there in more than a year, and I have missed it.
I bought chicken wings and roasted Brussels sprouts from their deli counter, I bought half a chocolate chess pie, some almond cookies, a fresh cheese pizza and two frozen margherita pizzas. Throw in a luscious heirloom tomato and a bottle of spicy brown mustard and you have a picture of my last stop.
The drive home wasn't as terrible as I feared, it being rush hour and all. Only a little more traffic than I was used to going my way, but a whole lot of traffic coming toward me.
-
I have had a full day, thanks, and no nap.
It's about 90 minutes earlier than my usual bedtime, but it's time say good night anyway.
-
Good night!
-
Sleep tight!
-
Don't let the (proverbial) bed bugs bite!
-
And sweet dreams!
Finishing up season 2 of The Larkins.
-
It wasn’t as good as the first season.
-
As threatened and promised I have returned.
-
We had a wonderful audience - just 9 tickets shy of a sellout.
And it was a nice performance. We have three left....
-
Can we expect more charges tomorrow?
-
I'm sure DR JANE had her corn on the cob without butter.
-
We had a wonderful audience - just 9 tickets shy of a sellout.
And it was a nice performance. We have three left....
Good news. Did you have fun?
-
Congrats to MR BK on his continued writing.
My question for ASK BK DAY:
Is there such a thing as a perfectly written book? Are there any titles you would put in that category?
-
I need sleep.
-
But we have to get to seven.
-
We’ll never get to seven till we reach that day.
-
To paraphrase Lynn Ahrens.
-
A day of peace.
-
A day of pride
-
Seven!
-
A day of justice we have been denied.
-
Enough of that.
-
We had a wonderful audience - just 9 tickets shy of a sellout.
And it was a nice performance. We have three left....
That's great, Jrand! Congrats!
-
There were only 35 presold for today's weekday matinee of Falsettos, but by the time the show actually started, I counted almost 50.
-
They were a good and appreciative audience
-
I have been watching the handmaid’s tale.
-
My television stopped talking to HULU some time ago. But I just realized my ipad could still connect
-
I had left off in the middle of season 5 so I have finally finished the season.
-
Now I have Hulu working again I can watch The Bear which has been highly recommended
-
Also I have been repeatedly urged to watch Twelve Monkeys
-
We’ll see
-
Congratulations to Ron on a successful doctor’s appointment
-
Curious to see when BK will reach his new pinnacle amongst the clouds
-
And what he will post upon arrival at that lofty destination
-
Vixdad’s birthday is this weekend
-
So far the celebration plans include going to see “The Sixties Band” on Friday night
-
A zoom call with the kids on Saturday morning
-
Going into the city to see “Peter Pan Goes Wrong” on Sunday
-
Saturday will possibly include a trip to the Cradle of Aviation to see the new IMAX presentation.
-
It’s called Ocean Odyssey
-
Gratuitous Post #201!!
-
Congrats to MR BK on his continued writing.
My question for ASK BK DAY:
Is there such a thing as a perfectly written book? Are there any titles you would put in that category?
It's all subjective, of course, but I'd certainly put To Kill a Mockingbird, Nineteen Eighty-Four, and Lord of the Flies in that category, being a twentieth century type.
-
Let it be known far and wide that I do not care for page seven.
-
And yet, here we are, page seven.
-
Nine more postings until a very large new posting number.
-
Hopefully, George will not disappear this evening and we can not only get off this damn page but capture the new number moment.
-
I think I'll just go for it now and then write the damn notes.
-
What?
-
Did someone say something?
-
I plopped down on the bed and immediately slept for an hour, until the phone woke me up.
-
Well, at least we got off that damn page.
-
Now let's get off THIS damn page.
-
And here we go - drum roll, please!
-
130,000 postings.
-
130,000 postings.
And here it is! :D
-
Let me get this straight - we have a repeat of last night? Really? No posts since 10:40?
-
I find that absolutely nauseating.
-
And why? Some damn rabbit hole? Another late night phone call?
-
Stuffing the face with free tacos?
-
What the HELL gives here?
-
What?
-
Did someone say something?
-
Noooooo, because why should anyone be here to make late-night postings?
-
I see Mr. Rabbit Hole is here.
-
And yet, nothing.
-
Nada.
-
Squat.
-
Zilch.
-
Some people need to be brained.
-
Unacceptably unacceptable.
-
And still he sits there like a can of tuna.
-
Welcome, 199 GUESTS!
-
If each one of you made one post, look how many more pages and postings we'd have.
-
And still he sits there like a peach pie.
-
Oh well, what can you do?
-
It seems willfully willful to me.
-
A digging in of the heels - "I WON'T post!"
-
I keep getting a new member request from Lolita at Lolita dating dot com.
-
How these bots get past the security questions is beyond me.
-
So, he sits here not posting, then leaves. I do not get it.
-
But at least we got to page nine.
-
And I still do not get it.
-
Perhaps there'll be an explanation.
-
What?
-
I can't hear you.
-
He just up and left the jernt.
-
I may have to travel to Tumwater and brain someone.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
And why? Some damn rabbit hole? Another late night phone call?
Yes, a phone call, and we're still talking!
-
It's hard to post and talk on the phone at the same time!
-
Yeah, well, you did that last night so maybe a night off would have been good. You abandoned us, you left, you took a hike, you were absent, you were gone, you were somewhere else, you left us in the lurch and now we're all in the lurch.
