Well, you've read the notes, the notes mentioned 130,000 postings, and now it is time for you to post until the 130,000 cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: DAUNTLESS!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
Yes, last night I was on the phone for two, count 'em, TWO hours. Fortunately, I had the phone's power cord plugged into the wall, so the battery didn't die...that's (usually) never a good thing.
-
Otherwise, I ushered for Falsettos (still quite good performances all around), then Margo and I went to McMenamins The Spar for their happy hour three cheeseburger sliders and Cajun tots, which were quite delish!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept very poorly, and I suspect that when I return from my errands I will be ready for bed.
-
Access-a-Ride will pick me up this morning for my podiatrist appointment. After that, I have a trip to Staples to scan the scores for ballet Nos. 29,30, and 31. Seven more numbers to go!
-
;)
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Congratulations to BK on your lofty new perch in the HHW firmament.
-
And thanks to DR George for capturing it!
-
Today is my annual performance review at work.
-
I'm not at all worried about it.
-
Congratulations to BK on his new posting total
-
130,000 ain’t to be sneezed at!
-
Yet I just sneezed.

All full of carbs. Go figure.

When someone has told you to 'go figure,' have you ever sat down at an adding machine?
-
I have.
-
When someone has told you to go jump in a lake, have you ever gone and jumped in a lake?
-
I have.

Did anyone win the Powerball?
-
Does anyone still wear a hat?
-
It seems there was a winning Powerball ticket. It was sold in California.
-
One billion big ones.

It seems there was a winning Powerball ticket. It was sold in California.
That’s odd, I don’t recall going to California
-
Unless……
-
Was someone accidentally sold the ticket that should have come to me?!
-
The nerve!
-
The audacity!
-
Singdaw, may your performance review be overflowing with compliments and end with a salary raise that makes your eyes widen!
-
Good morning, all.
-
Why thank you, DR vixmom!
-
Good morning, all.
-
Good morning Chas.

I’m afraid there may be a delay in my purchasing my city digs….I hope you haven’t started packing yet
-
I had a stupid night’s sleep, which seems the best way to describe it.
I can almost bring back an image of the main dream. Almost. Maybe later.

Oooh I should be on my way to work

I am awake...for more than an hour now. Have had my coffee, have re-dressed my right foot (cleaning, applying ointment and then wrapping). Have no pain and am walking quite nicely.
Sleep was fitful again. My CPAP was helpful for two hours until I woke up sneezing. My sinuses were clogged afterward, and I couldn't use my CPAP.
I cannot be certain why my sinuses act up like this, but it's a weekly thing.
-
Thus far, the day looks beautiful. From inside my house.
Outside, it's 81 degrees (at 9:15 a.m.), and the humidity is 85%!!! Yuck!
My dehumidifier is doing very well keeping my house pleasant.

TOD:
Hot pastrami on rye....OMG!!!!

I have scheduled a haircut this afternoon.
Getting kinda shaggy.

Finally, someone else is here...."1 guest".

Singdaw, may your performance review be overflowing with compliments and end with a salary raise that makes your eyes widen!
Or, at a minimum, lets you keep your job! ;)
-
We’ve still got the Mega Millions, people. Don’t despair!
-
TOD: I like a good beef brisket from Katz’s Deli. And those fat steak fries.
-
Saw a rarity for me yesterday. A thing called a motion picture in an actual theater.
-
Good morning!
-
Congrats on your new milestone, BK!
-
Wordle: 4/6
-
A good question would be, what is the last movie I saw in a theater that was not a cartoon? I guess Paddington 2.
But what’s the last grownup movie I saw in a theater? I cannot even recall!!
-
So yesterday’s was called Ruby Gillman: Teenage Kraken. And it was mediocre. No surprises. I will give credit for me not being able to identify any of the voice talent until the film was over. Couple surprises there.
-
I prefer not knowing who is voicing the animation. Helps me stay in the moment.
-
Page 3 sez me.
-
Congrats BK on 130k bits of wisdom, humor and trenchant mini rants.
-
Congrats Ron on foot solutions.
-
In the parlance of the youth, someone ELI5 (explain it like I am 5 years old) the “Goes Wrong” thing. JRand is in a play, I understand, sounds fun. But are the same creators franchising this idea for Peter Pan and other shows? Or is one theater company running with this concept? Will it saturate the market with shows going wrong? How widespread is this phenomenon?
-
Congrats Ron on foot solutions.
Ta!
-
Congrats to MR BK on his fantastic millstone.
-
Mega Millions.....
-
Vibes for DR ELMORE.
-
Good review vibes for DR singdaw.
-
DR RODZINSKI it is a concept of The Mischief Theatre Co.
Three of their founders Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, and Henry Shields write most of the stuff - and appear in it. They have built the myth of the Cornley Players who can't quite get things right....
It seems to be taking over community/high school theeder with varied results.
There is also The Goes Wrong Show, a television series with the same folks.
Much can be viewed on YouTube, of course.
-
Yesterday I watched a community theeder production of The Play That Goes Wrong that had just been posted on YouTube.....it was not good.
As we are told in the forward of the script: "...the actors of the Cornley Drama Society are not bad actors but victims of unfortunate circumstance.....[it is] the play that goes wrong not the play that's being done badly....."

DR Ron, I am very pleased all went well with your podiatrist appointment.
-
DR Jrand you were correct, my corn on the cob was free of butter.
-
DR Jrand, congrats on your wonderful show and audience.
-
Bruce, congratulations on 130,000 postings.

TOD:

Amen, brother.
-
So yesterday’s was called Ruby Gillman: Teenage Kraken.
Telling the coming-of-age story of Sidney Powell?
-
...[it is] the play that goes wrong not the play that's being done badly....."
Good point!
-
DR Ron Pulliam is cleared to participate in the Hokey Pokey.
-
My review is completed. I was deemed practically perfect in every way.
Thanks for the vibes!

I'm up, I'm up - another night of four hours of sleep. I think i need a new supply of Mellow Tone In. Was up at six or so, tried to fall back asleep, got up and answered e-mails, went to Ralph's to get some Diet Coke and glad I did - three for fifteen bucks, so I got six twelve-packs. Cheaper to do that than their 18 pack which is also on sale but would have resulted in twelve less cans for the same dough.
-
Food is ordered and should be delivered around eleven-fifteen.
-
Tried to go back to sleep.
-
Wasn't happening, so guess I'll try for later. Meanwhile, I suppose I'll begin futzing and finessing.

TOD

-
DR Jrand72 - I know it's too late now, but how about this for an advertising campaign:
"If the play goes wrong, I don't wanna be right!"
-
FOUR
-
Thanks JRand for that explanation.
Kinda seems like an idea I wouldn’t want to get too big. In the wrong hands, it could get old quickly.
-
Wrote four new pages. Taking a break until food arrives. I haven't eaten since noon yesterday.
-
I was wondering about that play series, too, as far as how much difference there'd be from one to the other. I think the Peter Pan one is a no-brainer, but ... well, y'all already said it about how original can they be after the first one or two.
Does it overlap, at least a little bit, of some of the setups in Noises Off?
-
Congratulations on the milestone, BK.
-
Yes, congrats to BK!
I wonder if someday there'll be a chip implanted and a li'l LED readout or some such that everyone will have on their foreheads, counting out their posting totals for all to see.
-
This morning I've been getting familiar with a couple of the songs in The Light in the Piazza because I'll be playing at least the title song for someone on a recital thingy in August, and maybe also "The Beauty Is".
Holy moley, this music doesn't exactly play itself. You gotta, like, read the notes, man.

Access-a-Ride was two rides from hell today. In both trips I had to share a ride with another passenger.
The first trip down to East 22nd Street was on time. The passenger who was going to Fifth Avenue and 15th Street was a problem. first of all, he was mostly a speaker who mumbled so I understood less than half of what he was saying. The driver was very cautious, and for some reason took Fifth Avenue - a very heavily trafficked street - so we moved at a snail's pace. The other passenger kept berating the driver for being too slow, for being incompetent, and I was afraid the driver was going to evict us both, It did take forever to get to my destination.
-
The HMO is on East 22nd Street, and construction had most of the street in front of my HMO closed off. It was a lousy and long walk to get where I was going once I was dropped off.
The second ride was on time, and thew passenger I was reaveling with was going to West 75th Street. Instead of going to the West Side,m the driver took Madison Avenue, the uptown version of Fifth Avenue, and it took over thirty minutes to get from East 25th Street to East 65th Street to cross through Central Park to the West Side. The passenger was dropped off first, so it took me about 45 minutes to get to Staples It's been hell today.

I'm really looking forward to Mary Poppins Goes Wrong!

Yes!!!

Carlin Glynn has died. She was the original Miss Mona in Best Little Whorehouse. And Mary Stuart Masterson’s mother.
-
Well NOISES OFF is a bit different because you meet the actors first...and watch them rehearse the play.....in the GOES WRONG series you just see the play.....
But how wrong it can be done is certainly well represented on YouTube.
I do not claim under in circumstances that we are definitive- however except for a couple of bozo moves by the expected parties - we are true to the direction.
-
Thanks to all for the comments.
I shall be off in a moment for performance number five.
Our leading man Chris has said on Facebook that he has a bit of trouble with his voice.....so I am taking him some Satori....which probably won't do much actual good - but I have seen it work miracles psychologically.
-
Sorry you had such problems DR ELMORE.....hopefully the rest of your day will be better.
-
Congrats to DR singdaw on his review.....hopefully a raise in $$$ will be forthcoming.
-
Diet Coke jackpot for MR BK!
-
Billion dollar Powerball - won! Right here in downtown LA.

Carlin Glynn has died. She was the original Miss Mona in Best Little Whorehouse. And Mary Stuart Masterson’s mother.
A college friend was the wardrobe mistress for the original production of Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. Carlin was a beautiful and gracious lady, and she and Henderson Forsyth were absolute perfection in the show.
-
Back in 1978, I believe we were the first show to ever do a Noises Off/Play That Goes Wrong thing. End of act one and some of the biggest laughs I've ever heard. The reason it worked so well was, we first saw it done perfectly. The bit, a Victorian murder melodrama, lasts maybe ten minutes. So, the audience has seen it all work. Then opening night, everything that can go wrong goes wrong. So, they know where the mistakes are and that's the fun - they know how it should go and they see how it goes off the rails and how the actors deal with it - including sets that fall, guns that don't fire and then suddenly fire when they shouldn't, all of the stuff that came later. I don't know of any show anywhere that did it before we did, but there sure have been a lot since. Just like in 1981, long before all the musicals that meta-referenced other musicals, which continues to this day and which has become a winky-winky bore, we had a musical number called Ode to the Musical or I Hate Musicals - yes, long before Ruthless - which made fun of other musicals.
Does anyone know this? Noooooo. Does anyone care? Noooooo. But we were absolutely ahead of our time.
-
I has spoken.

My pleasure!

Did anyone win the Powerball?
Yes...but not I.
-
Of course, I didn't buy a ticket, so there's that. ::)

Singdaw, may your performance review be overflowing with compliments and end with a salary raise that makes your eyes widen!
Ditto!!

A good question would be, what is the last movie I saw in a theater that was not a cartoon? I guess Paddington 2.

I saw Avatar 2: The Way of Water in IMAX 3-D. :)

Holy moley, this music doesn't exactly play itself. You gotta, like, read the notes, man.
Don't you hate it when that happens? :o
-
I truly love listening to "The Beauty Is."
But I sure as heck would not want to have to try to play it.

One of the many cartons in DR Elmore's abode? (God forbid he doesn't open and check the contents of each one before letting the troops have at them.) :)
-
If your home is made of adobe, do you have an adobe abode?
-
And if it's adorable, do you have an adorable adobe abode?
-
Page five? Really?
-
Barely.
-
Watched a motion picture and food was excellent - tri-salad from Art's, really the best thing they do there.
-
Back to writing.

:)

I think I have had breakfast there.
-
Breakfast at a deli is usually a toasted egg bagel with lox and cream cheese or soft boiled eggs.
-
Any time of the day I want Kosher New Pickles along with my meal.
-
I'll have your pickle juice, DR Jane.
-
I'll bet aliens ride past Earth and lock their doors.
-
I'll have your pickle juice, DR Jane.
Not much juice on a plate of sliced pickles ;)
-
Maybe enough to stop a cramp.
-
I like good coleslaw at a deli.
-
When I was young I often ordered chopped liver at a deli. Then I had Keith's mother's and could never eat it out again. That is how good her chopped liver was.
-
Not that I ordered blintzes at a deli, they just weren't my favorite food. Then I had Keith's mother's blintzes, OMG they were delicious.
-
A good turkey sandwich on rye has also been a favorite. At Nate 'n Al's, that once had by far the best deli coleslaw, I would put it on my sandwich along with mayo.
-
I mustn't forget the fresh slices of marble halvah.
-
I also like a good egg sandwich on challah.
-
I have so many happy childhood memories at Juniors, Factor's, and Nate 'n Al's.
-
I also have very nice adult memories at the same delis.
-
I have a hankerin' for some deli, now.
-
Strange, that.

Tired.
-
Not even halfway through Rudnick’s book. He’s st a section inspired by I Hate Hamlet.
-
It’s just not as fresh as his earlier work.
-
Not fresh, you say?
-
You need WOOT.
-
I rely on WOOT.
-
It's the only way.
-
A WOOT in need is a WOOT indeed.
-
I'm tired, too.
-
Do you suppose it's catching?
-
Had a very nice video chat tonight with a good high school friend that I hadn't caught up with in ages.
-
I think this is it for me.
-
Good night, friends.

Billion dollar Powerball - won! Right here in downtown LA.
Will you be sharing with the rest of the HHW family?

I am so tired
-
I need to go to bed
-
I’m sorry
-
I’m following you in a minute, Vixmom.
-
Sleep well.
-
We need to get to seven first.
-
Seven is a favorite here.
-
I lie.
-
Seven!
-
Good night, all.
-
I forgot to say how much I enjoyed MR BK's answer to my Perfect Book query.
All three he mentioned were books I was introduced to in high school....a teacher mentioned Lord of the Flies in passing.....and at the end of the class I went and asked her for the title again and went to the library to get it.
Mockingbird and 1984 soon followed.
-
I enjoyed reading about MR BK's firsts.....who is "we"?
-
Nice performance tonight.....audience was a bit quiet during Act One - but they livened up for Act Two.
-
TOD:
Turkey sandwich on rye
Corned beef!
Potato salad!
When Mr BK was here, we introduced him to Shapiro's Deli in downtown Indianapolis because he was interested in meeting some Indiana Jews - and so we did.
-
I do not care for page seven.
-
Watched a second movie, which ironically was directed by the same person as the first movie I watched.
-
We as in me and the folks who put on those shows.
-
Wrote more pages.
-
Oh dear, please tell me this isn't going to be another one of THOSE nights.
-
Don't tell me George is going down some damn rabbit hole.
-
Don't tell me he's going to have another three-hour conversation about eating free tacos.
-
Let's just not do that.
-
Or there will be a reckoning, oh, yes, there will be a reckoning.
-
I'm so overtired that my eyes will not focus anymore, which makes writing somewhat difficult - not the writing itself or even seeing it on the Word doc, but finding the symbols on the keyboard. I have to constantly put on the reading glasses and even those aren't working as well as they used to.
-
Okay, I am super duper irritated right now.
-
And I think we all know why.
-
Other then me, the last post here was at eight-thirty.
-
An d for the third night in a row, George is a no-show.
-
Again.
-
What's it tonight?
-
Phone call?
-
Out stuffing his face with free tacos?
-
Down some damn rabbit hole.
-
I think it's being done on purpose now, yes I do, because why would anyone do that three nights in a row, that's my question without an answer.
-
But here we are on a page I do not care for because no one's in the jernt but me.
-
That is why I am currently irritated.
-
I have a good mind to just not change the day until morning.
-
Yes, I have a good mind to do that.
-
George needs to go in the corner and flog himself, like Judge Turpin.
-
Well, I got us to page eight.
-
Will he show up before midnight?
-
Does he even care?
-
Should I send Guido Fantucci to have a little conversation?
-
I think it's being done on purpose now, yes I do, because why would anyone do that three nights in a row, that's my question without an answer.
I can't help it!
-
:-\
-
A friend was visiting from out of town, so we visited.
-
George needs to go in the corner and flog himself, like Judge Turpin.
Sorry...that's not my thing.
;)
-
Will he show up before midnight?
I have.
-
I didn't even pick up a call from my sister.
-
Anyway, my friend has left
-
Well, at least you showed up.
-
I'm guessing this will now be a nightly thing.
-
What, he left already?
-
No...potty break.
-
So, another thing I did today was finish burning Blu-rays of SitPwG that I was in.
-
It was filmed and put up on YouTube in a private link (that I shared with Hainesies and Kimlets who requested said link).
-
But I also put it on a Blu-ray (or DVD) and finished burning the requested discs.
-
I had done it a couple of weeks ago, but something went wrong and the arrows to go between the chapter screens were all wonky and I had to fix it.
-
I didn't really know what to do, so I added music to the various chapter screens and that seemed to have fixed the problem...whatever it really was.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
