Well, you've read the notes, the notes went to the dogs, and now it is time for you to post until the dog day cows come home, which might be in the dog day afternoon.
-
And the word of the day is: MENTOR!
-
Notes dogged. Barked.
-
Cute picture of Sophie the Dog!
-
And the fettuccini with sweet Eyetalian sausage, onions, and peas, in a pink sauce really did look good (except for the peas ::) ).
;)
-
What are you, DR George: Princess Winnifred, all of the sudden? :)
-
Good morning, friends.
-
CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN, DR vixmom! So thrilled for you.
-
That pasta in the Notes looks amazing. It would eat it all right up, too.
-
TOD: my first pet growing up was a black and white cat. I named it Figaro. (Disney's Pinocchio had just been re-released in theaters)
-
Since then, I have had various dogs and cats, all beloved. And a hamster. I don't need to do that again.
-
Currently no pets, but eventually there will be more.
-
But I would never get a puppy again. Way too much work.
-
A mature shelter dog will do fine.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept solidly until 1:45am. I was then wide awake until 4:30 or so. I was asleep when the alarm rang at 5:10, something about evicting a roommate and we seemed to be licing in a subway station.
-
Our first pet was a collie-shepherd mix named Sandy. After him we had a series of dogs, mostly beagles and hounds and two cats named Fred and Ethel, who behaved badly ad ended up as barn cats on my Aunt Lois' farm in Columbus, Ohio. For my14th(?) birthday. I was given a six-week old Siamese kitten I named Ming, who lived sixteen years. When I was thirty, Ming took a piece of calf off the leg of one of my mother's more stupid friends. There was blood on the carpet, and the next day my mother had Ming euthanized. By 1970, my brother Randy had collected hamsters, gerbils, and many small excitable dogs who peed everywhere when company approached the door of the house.
-
And we had a tortoise who lived for years in the basement.
-
Severed Toe, or Baby Jesus?
-
You decide.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Had to rise and shine early to feed Mikey early to get a crushed Gabapentin tablet into him in order to have him somewhat more calm and manageable for his visit to the vet at 10:00 for his bloodwork at the 4-week checkup on his thyroid condition.
It wears me out just saying that. I’ll be glad when we’re back home.
(Speaking of pets!)

Topic of the Day: we've always had cats while I was growing up. And living on my own, I've had two hand-me-down cats (at different times): Ebonie and Neve (pronounced "Nev").

DR Jeanne thanks for the suggestions. I forgot to look for the drops at the market though their website is no longer showing them. I should try Walmart.

It's been a loooong day. I had a lot of fun going through "Yesterday I Loved You" with Joshie. We work very well together, and we have a good time. I think we will meet on Sunday to work on the overture.

My Access-a-Ride drivers were both wonderful today, although the second was 25 minutes late. He took me to Quest Diagnostics, where I had to drop off stool samples. I was told my efforts were lousy and to do it over. When I came out of the office, a very kind lady and her daughter stopped their csr and helped me flag a taxi and get myself and the walker into it. The taxi driver was also wonderful.

Has anyone read The Book of Charlie? It’s about a 109-year-old and all he experienced in his life?

Barry Fitzgerald is starring in the holiday episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents called Santa Claus and the 10th Avenue Kid.

Has anyone read The Book of Charlie? It’s about a 109-year-old and all he experienced in his life?
No, however, I read Having Our Say: The Delany Sisters' First 100 Years. One sister lived to be 104 and the other to 109.

Having Our Say was wonderful.

This one is good but not quite at that level.

I did send a copy to Mom.

I did send a copy to Mom.
Does she give you feedback on what she likes and doesn't like to help in future book choices?
-
She’ll take anything, as long as she can complain about it. She’s getting into her holiday spirit of disagreeableness.

Five!

Dog dinner has been served, walk has been taken, pee has been peed (I suspect the other business will be when I get back), treats have been given, dog's on the couch and comfy and I'm sure will sleep the entire time I'm gone. I'm leaving in about then minutes, as I have to stop and pick up something at the mail place.

Amazing!

Watching the last season of Riverdale. The first episode is brilliant.
-
It’s a slap in the face of racists who want to prevent students from learning the truth about black history.
-
It’s also wack because the cast has somehow gone back to the 1950s.

TOD:
My first pet was an Eskimo Spitz named Dinky-Boo. He was a small dog with a low tolerance for anyone not me or my folks. His name was supposed to be Dinky, but one of my favorite things was to try to scare Dinky and always said "Dinky...BOO". Thus, Dinky-Boo was called that for as long as we had him.
A trade-in happened a few years after we got him. As I said, he wasn't friendly to anyone but me and my parents, but we had many children in the neighborhood and fears grew. So, off he went to a farm (I was told), and on fine Christmas morning, I found two Cocker Spaniel puppies in my Christmas presents pile...a blond one and a black one, both in a decorated box. Toby was the name for the blond, and Blackie (quelle surprise) for the other. My folks were giving me only one pet, but wanted to see which one I took to and which one took to me. In both cases, it was Toby, and he was my pet for the next 11 years.
As an adult, I have had only cats. My first was a gorgeous white cat named Punkin. I was in Italy, and the lady who let me have her asked me to let her have Punkin back if I could not take her with me. I had her for two years.
Much later in my adult life, while I was stationed in Naples, Italy, I was blessed with Dickens, who was all of four weeks old when I got him. He was, and remains, the love of my life, cat-wise. I later took in Miss Vickie as a companion. Dickens and Vickie both returned to the U.S. with me after my five years in Naples. My parents took care of them while I finished my Navy time on an aircraft carrier. When I was getting settled in a condo after retiring, my mom informed me Dickens had been hit by a car and died. When I went home at Christmas, I brought Vickie back to Oakland with me. At that time, she was about 8 years old. She lived another 14 years.
I have had no other pets since.
-
Encapsulation began on my house this morning. The entirety of my home's "underneath" is being encapsulated Thursday, electricians will come to connect a dehumidifier and small sump pump that will treat moisture under my house.
It was not inexpensive, and it is not a Merry Christmas to me at all.
However, it must be done.
-
As an addendum to me TOD story:
If any of you know the game of figuring out your "drag" name by using the name of your first pet and the street you first lived on, you will be amused to learn I lived on "Young" street.
So, Dinky-Boo Young is stillborn.

I do not care for page seven.

Back from the staged reading - interesting premise, some good scenes, but not quite ready for prime time.
-
This dog is soooo weird. When I got home, she sat right up and that meant to me she needed to go outside and so we did. She was out there for about twenty seconds, didn't do any business and wanted to go back in. I'm having to be tough about that stuff. She finally found a spot she liked for peeing, then we came back in.

Yum...I went down the rabbit hole of America's Test Kitchen (a.k.a. Cook's Country) and watched their episode of Italian Sweets (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=axZHZcFuf_s)! ;D

The Cook's Country channel, however, seems like a knock-off channel that reposts original episodes.

The two featured recipes look really good. :)

People who go down rabbit holes WILL be held accountable.
