Well, you've read the notes, the notes were so 2024, and now it is time for you to post until the 2024 cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: BONANZA!
-
We closed out 2023 with 31,000 more postings than 2022. Over 13,000,000 visits.
-
Yes.
-
Notes contemplated. Templated.
-
I am personally responsible for a fraction of the increase in posts as I was not around for 2022.
-
Bonanza story. David Canary said Dan Blocker used to hide a transistor radio under his cowboy hat, and the soundman on set would be going nuts trying to figure out where this faint broadcast was coming from.
-
This is my absolute favorite version of Auld Lang Syne, sung by The Barra MacNeils:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=80PlTeDollo (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=80PlTeDollo)
-
They sing Burns's original Scots version (at least, according to the Wikipedia page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auld_Lang_Syne)):
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and auld lang syne?
Chorus:
For auld lang syne, my jo,
for auld lang syne,
we'll tak' a cup o' kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
And surely ye'll be your pint-stoup!
and surely I'll be mine!
And we'll tak' a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
Chorus
We twa hae run about the braes,
and pou'd the gowans fine;
But we've wander'd mony a weary fit,
sin' auld lang syne.
Chorus
We twa hae paidl'd in the burn,
frae morning sun till dine;
But seas between us braid hae roar'd
sin' auld lang syne.
Chorus
And there's a hand, my trusty fiere!
and gie's a hand o' thine!
And we'll tak' a right gude-willie waught,
for auld lang syne.
Chorus x2

We watched the neighborhood fireworks at midnight from our front door
-
They are, of course, strictly illegal here but the skies looked like 4th of July at Disney
-
Then we went to bed and to sleep after a quick phone call from the Vixter
-
She sounded exhausted and was on the way to bed herself
-
I am looking forward to holding my grandson in 2024 and praying he will be a happy and healthy child.
-
I woke up at 3:33
-
Wide awake and with a craving for hot cocoa
-
I hoped it would make me tired but I’m still feeling wakeful
-
But I shall try once again to get some sleep
-
Vixdad and I are meeting friends for brunch
-
We’ve all known each other for between 48 and 51 years .
-
Vixdad is the newcomer , only around for the past 37 years or so
-
We’re going to a lovely place where they have a large and delicious buffet
-
We went there last year and liked it very much , so I am very much looking forward to both the meal and the conversation
-
Be back later!
-
You're nearing a posting millstone, Vixmom! Hopefully, someone can capture the momentous moment! ;D

Good morning, friends.
-
I didn't know about The Barra MacNeils. Thanks, DR George!
-
One more.
-
All that, and PAGE TWO!
-
MOM: You don't need a new year. We have a perfectly good year at home.
-
WIFE: Can you walk Fido again, please?
HUSBAND: Sure; it's the leash I can do.
-
Good morning. And Happy New Year to us all.
-
I was wrong; they didn't move. The noise went on until around 3 a.m.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I went to bed around 9:00. slept soundly until about 10 minutes after midnight. It was quite noisy: sirens, shouting, and fireworks. I think the noise spooked the cays, and that's what actually woke me. From then on, I slept poorly. The temperature dropped, and my 2:30, it was quite chilly in the apartment. From that point on, my bed was a warm-up location for three playful cats celebrating the New Year.
-
I remember bits of one dream: I was back at Goodspeed after an absence of some time. I needed to use the phone, but I couldn't remember the code to get an outside line. At one point, a rather attractive man dressed in medical attire came through the lobby while I was trying to get the receptionist to help me with my call. The man - maybe early 40's, maybe vaguely familiar - spoke my name and started talking to me. I didn't know who the hell he was, but I was sure we had met before, so I kept looking at the badge on his shit for a name. Everything he said - mostly thanking me for telling him he was an okay, maybe too gay, chorus boy but he'd have a better life if he followed his parents' advice and went to medical school - sorta got my memory working, but I just couldn't place his face. I walked to his vehicle with him, and we might have set a date for dinner. Then three roping cats woke me.
-
I have no idea what 2024 has in store for me, but here are my hopes:
1. Annabelle and Thatch has a successful life as a book; it would be wonderful if something fantastic came from it but I wrote it to amuse myself and a few friends. I hope others enjoy it, too.
2. The March ballet performances are a big success and lead to more work; I need a steady income to supplement the Social Security and pension which are not enough to survive on in NYC.
3. My health improves.
My biggest fear: I don't live to see 2025.
-
You're nearing a posting millstone, Vixmom! Hopefully, someone can capture the momentous moment! ;D
Wow, that is quite a millstone coming up for vixmom!
-
I am looking forward to holding my grandson in 2024 and praying he will be a happy and healthy child.
A wonderful milestone!
-
Larry is very close to an HHW posting millstone as well!

And the happiest of new years to every one of us!

I knew Gretchen Cryer. I liked her very much. The last time I saw her, she was moving to California to be close to John. I arranged "Old Friend" for the cabaret act "Just Good Friends," and the New York City Gay Men's Chorus recorded it on their album "Love Lives On." It isn't on YouTube, but the Orlando Gay Men's Chorus performed, although I am not credited for the arrangement and that pisses me off.The arrangement begins 1:24 into the video.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WuQtLOLFMoM&t=263s
The arrangement was "inspired" - if that's the correct word - by my friendship with actor Time Winters, my oldest living New York City buddy.

I met her once. I interviewed her about a business she started up in the Hudson area. It was a gourmet frozen food business. She talked about the business and was surprised O knew her stage work. I think I had an autographed copy of The Last Sweet Days of Isaac.

"I'm as social as a Singdaw on a chat site"

Gretchen Cryer met her husband David when they were both students at DePauw.
Of course years later they divorced and David married Britt - a lovely dancer he met when they were doing a Broadway play with Ray Bolger.
When he came back to DePauw years later to receive some kind of honor, Gretchen & Britt were both with him.....he stood up and started his speech with: "I am the most nervous man here tonight, my wife and ex-wife are sitting together in the front row."
Of course back in 2012 I did THE CRUCIBLE with David & Britt at....DePauw.

Yes DR JANE is approaching a millstone.

I'm up, I'm up - eight and a half hours of sleep. Weird dreams having to do with the new book.

Guess I'll do a little writing - although I'll admit to having written two pages before going to bed - and then start preparing the spaghetti sauce.

We are having a beautiful first day of the year. Our walk was lovely, with clear views of Mt. Hood and sailboats on the river.

All is ready. Sauce is good, tuna pasta salad is out and ready to be eaten, and pasta is cooked and ready for plating. All we need is someone to show up and I hope it's soon because I'm HUNGRY.

I just deleted some from February that I never read-fortunately they weren't important.

DR Ginny it was a good first half.

DR Ginny, I posted and then the game got exciting again :)

Thus far the Do is a Dud. Even the usuals who are always here on time aren't here and we're thirty minutes after five now. I wasn't about to wait, so I had a small helping of spaghetti and tuna pasta salad. I should have made this an hour less and said to get here on time.
-
I'm sorry. Maybe they are watching the Rose Bowl which has gone into overtime.

Coming up on a millstone of my own, but not today, I don’t believe.
-
My cousin's lunch today was scrumptious!
She had fried pork chops and ribs;
Sweet potato souffle;
Black-eyed peas (with stewed tomatoes and chopped onions);
Macaroni and cheese; and
The most delicious collards I have ever tasted!!!!
Also, cornbread!! She makes it with buttermilk and without sugar, which is my preferred cornbread.
The entire meal was absolutely delicious, and I very much enjoyed all the company - her son and 12-year-old grandson and her daughter, son-in-law and two-year-old granddaughter.

As am I!

I’ll miss ol’ be-wigged me, my avatar that I uploaded sometime in the early ‘00s, but the new year brings new changes, beginning with my new avatar.

Thank you, Ron!

Count me impressed with the polar bear club initiation. I myself went into 100-degree water yesterday.
-
Love the avatar, sir.
-
Starting Stage Fright. I will likely finish it tomorrow.

Love the avatar, sir.
Thank you, thank you.

Hello, everyone.
-
HappyNew Year to all!
-
Tuna was a big choice for the Do. Some people can have strong feelings about tuna. I pray it was a success.
-
Jeanne!!
-
Happy New Year, Jeanne!
-
I spent the day at home, doing a load of laundry, then some work here. The day flew. Of course, sleeping until 8:30 didn’t help, but I fell asleep late and needed the sleep.
-
Hi, Rodz! Talk about changing your image! Nice photo, though. Friendly and congenial.
-
Bruce always serves tuna pasta salad. It seems pretty popular.
-
I imagine that your neighbor who had the NYE do was a bit frantic trying to get ready, then someone rang the door bell. Eek!
-
I was accustomed to needing to be on time for school, for business meetings, etc. One day, not too long after I moved East, a neighbor invited me over for some do. I arrived 15 minutes after the stated arrival time time, trying to be considerate in case they were running a bit late. I was the first guest to arrive and no, they weren’t quite ready. It was a while before the others arrived. There did seem to be quite a few unstated rules that I, a Californian, was unfamiliar with.
-
The remote control for my sound bar stopped working after I changed the battery - one of those small round ones about the size of a nickel.
So after all of these weeks, I took the battery out and turned it over.
And now it works. I had put it in upside down.
I've done that myself far too many times. ::)
-
And now that we're so close...

I must admit that I have some apprehension about the coming year, primarily because of the November election. A lot can happen between now and then, and I truly hope things change for the better. It will be an interesting year. Buckle up.
-
Chances are the photo is too big, but I'll give it a try.

Wonderful picture, Jane!
-
We are having a beautiful first day of the year. Our walk was lovely, with clear views of Mt. Hood and sailboats on the river.
Very nice!
-
As are your other pictures, Jane!
-
Hi, George.
-
Hopefully, people will arrive on time, as I really do want to be done by nine if not earlier.
Hope everything's going well and everyone is enjoying themselves!
-
Hi, George.
Hi, Jeanne.
-
Good night.
-
Jane is only 2 posts from a truly amazing millstone!
Congrats, Jane!
-
Good night, Jeanne.
-
I guess I must post it.
That works! ;D
-
Spaghetti-stuffed garlic butter rolls. In case you don't have enough carbs.
Who'd thunk it?? :o
-
And, of course, why??
-
I think those would be real good just with whatever sauce was used and not the actual spaghetti.
-
Why hasn't someone thought of that?? ???
-
Oh, wait... (https://www.joshuaweissman.com/post/homemade-calzones)

Do is Done and was Fun with a capital F.
-
I've cleaned up everything but the sauce and pasta pans and I'm just leaving those covered and will eat more of it tomorrow.
-
We had Barry and Cindy Pearl, Adryan Russ and Dale Cooke, our own Amy and Mark, Alby Potts and his gal pal, Marshall Harvey, and Kay Cole.
-
Sounds like a delightful do.
-
Good night, all.
-
Congratulations on your amazing new posting millstone, Jane!
-
I loved the pictures , very pretty
-
Speaking of pretty, Rodzinski your new avatar is excellent!
-
Congratulations Bruce that the Do done did!
-
Rodzinski, I don’t know how you walked into that freezing water, I have trouble with a tepid shower
-
Ron, that repast sounded wonderful! No wonder Debra is your favorite cousin!
-
Dishwasher is washing. Trying to decide if I should put the sauce in a container and in the fridge - that's probably the smart thing to do. Then I could just save the pasta and cook the sauce tomorrow.
-
I'm close to a new plateau myself.
-
Page ten it is.
-
Did a bit more writing - twelve pages so far, which is fine for a first day. I'm still finding the tone I want and still finding how long and short I want things before we get down the both the nitty and the gritty.
-
Congratulations on Do Success!
-
I imagine that your neighbor who had the NYE do was a bit frantic trying to get ready, then someone rang the door bell. Eek!
Yeah, I wasn’t really too mad, it just became a good excuse to not go back to a party I didn’t want to go to in the first place.
-
No posts in an hour there. George not around. The “holidays” have nigh concluded.
-
George Not Around - that's the title of my next novel.
-
Nine posts away from a new plateau.
-
Exciting.
-
We had Barry and Cindy Pearl, Adryan Russ and Dale Cooke, our own Amy and Mark, Alby Potts and his gal pal, Marshall Harvey, and Kay Cole.
That's great, BK!
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.

George Not Around - that's the title of my next novel.
Cool! I'll buy it! ;)

Here's my new plateau!
