Well, you've read the notes, the notes approved, and now it is time for you to post until the approved cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: VIVACIOUS!
-
That's really cool about The Faculty, BK. Do you have an idea of when they'll Zoom you for that?
-
Last night, I got an e-mail from my friend (and TAO's artistic director) pug asking me to get the rights for TAO's next show (a play which shall not be named...yet). So, I will get the rights. They're from Dramatists Play Service.
-
Good morning, all!
-
The sleeping problem is my legs. If I could ease the pain, well, I'd be God. It was a so-so night. Thatch and Stella wandered to and fro while Annabelle settled beside me and never moved until around 4:30 when she crawled under the blankets to cuddle.
-
I remember bits of two dreams: I was walking up Broadway when I ran into DR Laura's donut-loving friend Ben Davis who was biking up to the big multiplex at 84th Street. We talked a bit ad I asked him if he had any plans after the movie. He did not, and I asked him to come by my place and maybe we could get some dinner.
-
In the second dream, I don't know if I was backstage or at a rehearsal for the NYC Gay Men's Chorus. It was as if I had been away and was catching up with friends I hadn't seen in some time. Then we were all on the No. 7 bus riding up Amsterdam Avenue, and I was telling the person I was talking to, I was working steadily until the pandemic; now I'm forgotten." My stop came, and I stepped off.

For the past twenty years, since I began working on the Babes in Toyland edition for the Packard Humanities Institute, I have toyed with the idea of writing a history of the show. At one point, someone told me I should write a biography of the spectacular rise and epic fall of John McGlinn, but I always felt I would be better suited as one of the sources.
-
I want this new edition of The Faculty!
-
Good morning, all.
-
DR Elmore definitely has a few books to write.
-
I want this new edition of The Faculty!
So do I!
I was actually rather hoping it would show up in my mailbox today. I really don’t want to have to open a trouble ticket so soon. But if I must, I must.
-
Safely home via plane to Seattle and 3-hour drive from there.
-
I’d read Elmore’s McGlinn book in a heartbeat!
-
Good morning, all.
-
TOD:
A book on The Book of Judges
A cookbook with my friend from Kos
-
I’d read Elmore’s McGlinn book in a heartbeat!
I would too.
-
Glad you’re home safe, Rodzinski.
-
There seems to be sunlight filtering through the blinds.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Glad to read of the safe return of the family Rodz.

~~~CONTINUED TRAVEL VIBES~~~ for the family VIX
-
Six years ago today I took Thatch to City Vet to check out his heart murmur via echocardiogram. I posted on Facebook: a problem with the muscle controlling the left ventricle of his heart, which is already too thick, will continue to affect his blood flow. He will be on a daily medication for the remainder of his life to slow the heart rate to slow down the muscle's thickening, eventually closing down the ventricle and killing him.
I have no idea what this means for his mortality or his longevity, but a part of me died today. I will love him, care for him, and pray to God that he has a long and healthy life.
He's now lived longer than I expected, and I hope this continues for a lomg, long time. I will admit that every morning I look for him first thing to assure myself he's still with me.
BK is The Faculty.
DR elmore3003 is The Source.
As for the rest of us, only The Shadow knows.
DR vixmom, you and Steve are traveling in two cars? Are you not speaking?
-
Notes absorbed. Soaked.
-
Hugs to vixmom.
-
It was my dream to write a bio of George Segal but I waited too long to get in touch with his people. Not that it couldn’t still be done.
-
Glad you’re home safe, Rodzinski.
Thanks! Lot of rainy driving but airport stuff was all good.
DR ELMORE the Dream-O-Matic 6000 says that your dreams indicate that you may soon have an opportunity presented to you through friends in a new, exciting, and unexpected area of your expertise.
I would write a book about community theatre - but then of course I would be persona non grata and would have to retire.
Thursday morning greetings! I’m all dressed to meet some Dayton friends for lunch, but my stomach is misbehaving so I’m staying home. Nothing life-threatening.
-
Travel vibes for the Vix caravan!
-
TOD - I would write a memoir titled “SOMEBODY Has To Be Martha!” That was my response to Richard one Christmas season when he accused me of being more Martha than Mary in my preparations. That’s the biblical Martha, not the Stewart one. Refer to Luke 10:38-42.
:)
More travel vibes for vixmom and vixdad!
Happy to hear Rodzinski and family got home safe and sound!
Good morning.
-
I'm glad Thatch is doing ok, Elmore. I'm glad they are all doing ok.
Leonard is doing ok. I've gotten to where I really worry about teeth now more than anything. Joshie had to have all his removed. Rex had to have several removed.
-
When I took Leonard to get shots before we fostered the kittens, the vet said his teeth were in good shape.
-
I looked at the program for Mattress. Why did they delete "The Minstrel, the Jester, and I"?
Thanks, DR George. So far, so good after a cautious lunch.
-
I looked at the program for Mattress. Why did they delete "The Minstrel, the Jester, and I"?
Because the PC folk now running Encores! determined that the Minstrel was a politically incorrect racist issue and cut the character from the script.
-
The Minstrel in MATTRESS is a racist issue??? Has the world gone mad?
-
I'm up, I'm up - about seven and a half hours of sleep.
-
Minstrel: a medieval singer or musician, especially one who sang or recited lyric or heroic poetry to a musical accompaniment for the nobility.
-
So who is singing the minstrel's part? You can't just delete the narrator.
-
When they did the tv version, they deleted Sir Harry, didn't they? That was dumb.
-
Nice.
-
Food distribution was relatively easy. And demand was heavy.
-
Stirring from a nap. The sun is still shining. Temperature up to 64.
-
Odd day.
Muggy, high humidity that sticks to/coats windows.
Had pest control come this morning.
Ate lunch at Triangle (cubed steak!!!)
Received my first dosages of Dupixent from VA. Confusion abounds. Family allergy clinic must administer first two doses, and I'm guessing they're the dosages I got in the mail today.
I have to make appointment to go to allergy clinic to get the first two dosages, and I am waiting for a call-back.
Sigh.
Lots of stuff to do, low on energy to get it done, and wheels spinning virtually as I sit and wait. And wait.
And wait.
-
Otherwise....
...I had a wonderful night's sleep! I awakened fresh and ready for coffee!
There are things I truly MUST get to.
I have bought a mini refrigerator from Sam's Club. It is an Igloo brand. I am going to use it for my meds that require refrigeration.
I have opted for curbside pickup. I cannot pick it up until 7 p.m.
-
The Minstrel in MATTRESS is a racist issue??? Has the world gone mad?
Exactly. You know, "minstrel shows"? I cleaned up the number in case the powers-that-be changed their mind, but it was decided before the Dec. 21 orchestra reading. I have a low opinion of the ladies in charge now, and I'm really sad that Mary Rodgers wasn't around to tell them to fuck off. Encores! has always treated living authors more cautiously.
-
Whaddayaknow!!??
The sun has broken through the miserable cloud layers and is shining brightly upon my house...at least for now.
-
It was bright while it lasted.
Still, the cloud cover IS breaking up, so sunny days may be ahead until the weekend when more deluges are expected.
-
So who is singing the minstrel's part? You can't just delete the narrator.
The Jester sings "Many Moons Ago" now.
We have a great day in Portland. First of all, it did not rain :)
-
We spent the morning at The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, OSMI. The current exhibit, Staying Alive: Defenses of the Animal Kingdom. My favorite was watching the sloth. There was someone in his large enclosure taking him for a "walk". She would encourage him to move several inches at a time bribing him with a treat, very entertaining.
At noon we went to the Big Bird show at the little planatarium at OSMI.
We also walked through the AIDS Memorial Quilt show. I noticed boxes of kleenix on a couple of the benches so I gather it can be very emotional for some. Fortunatey it was empty when we were there since the little one was with us.
-
FIVE!
-
We drove over to 23rd street and had a delicious lunch at Top Burmese. Now I know where to eat when we are there.
Do any of the reviews mention the minstrel and the reason it was cut?
-
One-half point separates Isabeau Levito from Amber Glenn in tonight's women's short program at the U>S> Figure Skating Championships.
Both skated exceptionally well.
-
Both were very good routines. I also would have given Isabeau the edge.
Just looking at them and their demeanor you might think Isabeau was from Texas and Amber was from Joisey.
-
DR JANE I loved reading about your day and seeing the photos.
Now you know what little surprise you can get for her.
I would be interested to see if any of the reviews mention that The Minstrel is NOT A minstrel.
Certainly that’s the case, but you know, educate the masses, don’t just live in fear of offending them to the point where you can’t say the word “minstrel.”
-
“A wand’ring minstrel I, a thing of shreds and patches…”
Oh, would you mind changing that to “a wand’ring singer”?
