Happy Birthday to (former) DR Kate, who is DR KevinH's sister!
I remember a musical call Theda Bara and the Frontier Rabbi. Jeff Hochshartner was one of the writers. It had promise but just disappeared.

On This Day in 1933, the Lone Ranger was introduced to radio audiences on WXYZ in Detroit, Michigan.
That song, which I learned from George Segal’s LP “A Touch of Ragtime,” was my intro to Theda Bara.
Here's the link to the New York Times obituary for Chita Rivera. R.I.P.

I went down to visit my knee-replaced brother. He seems to be doing okay. It's been six days since the surgery.
He is in some pain....but he has some medication and recovery time is about six weeks, they tell him.
He declares that he is going to mow my yard next summer because he kept watching me all last year and it inspired him to get his new knees so he could get around as well as I do....
Just tried a new egg salad recipe. Not sure yet how I like it:

It was also just reported that three-time Tony winner Hinton Battle passed away yesterday at only 67. He won his three Best Featured Actor in a Musical Tonys for "Sophisticated Ladies," "The Tap Dance Kid" and "Miss Saigon."

That just looks too complicated for me, and I don't have half the ingredients anyway. ::)

I was woken this morning by being presented with a hot cup of tea and a warm Krispy Kreme glazed donut .

Did he sneak out this morning and buy the donuts? Are glazed your favorite?
The young lady at the insurance agency said "they've been having problems with their printing machine" so she was happy to take my check and give me a receipt.
I just read that Chita Rivera has died. She was 91.
I just learned that Betty Auman, who was in charge of acquisitions for the Music Division of the Library of Congress, when I met her in 1987, has died. She was a dear friend until our friendship fell apart in 2010 in a disastrous concert and recording debacle of Life Begins at 8:40 and her failure to replace an incompetent conductor. At the moment my emotions are all over the place, remembering both the great times in London and the various concerts at the Library of Congress and the frustrations, betrayals, and ugliness after 2010.

So I was to be spending the day with the Vixter
Here’s Hinton Battle and a young Alfonso Ribiera tearing it up on the Tonys:

Today is the birthday - number 70 - of my closest in age sister Paula.
She was born when I was three years and five months old.
I we were so excited when she came home and so happy -- until she starting crying EVERY night ALL night....ALL THE TIME.....

Is that the right link for Hinton Battle?

Chicago was the first thing I saw her in, on tour in L.A.
Kiss of the Spider Woman was my Chita pinnacle. Saw her in it on her last night before the cast change.
When I return I will be making egg salad.

Mmm...egg salad. ;D I need to make some. My mom gave me some hard boiled eggs and I don't want them to go to waste.

Can people really do that eight times a week?
I think that was largely for the Tonys, as the song Fabulous Feet only seems to come in at the end. I think that kept the show going for a few more months. I always loved that score for Tap Dance Kid. And I got to see the national tour with the great Harold Nicholas as Daddy. One of the thrills of my theater going life. Got to meet him afterwards too.
My HMO just called to cancel Friday's colonoscopy. I need to reschedule. Damn!
HHW is rapidly becoming COLONOSOPIES R US.
The last time I watched the Birdie film was when the Twilight Time Blu-ray came out.
It's a great Sony product, but now, seeing it in all its glory on a 38-foot screen...
I do believe I was teleported right back to 1963.
There's much to say about this film, but it's late, many things call, and I must be off to bed soon.
Maybe coincidentally, the next day in 1933, there were the first reports of someone interrupting the William Tell Overture with "Hi-yo, Silver!"

Sorry, DR elmore3003. I just picked up my prep materials for mine. In May. Don't know why the Rx was called in so early. But there it is.
Since I only have one kidney, they want me to do a prescription prep which is easier on the one remaining.
In other news, my mother had her post-surgery check in. They are very pleased with her progress, and within a week she'll be cleared for driving again.

I didn't realize that Harry Potter and the Cursed Child (the play) is being released as a movie.
Actually, it's not in development. But some fan created a fake movie trailer that looks pretty convincing.
Tomorrow morning, they are removing the last suture from my mouth. Can't wait to be rid of it!

And yet, we plunder* along.
