I made sure no one from church was on my friends list. I didn't want them all to know what I was doing.  That held for many years ... until we got this new minister. He found me on Facebook through one friend. And then others found me through him.

Two more opera reviews came in. The Chronicle was a mixed review, focusing more on the opera rather than the performances, as is appropriate for a work that hardly anyone knows. We don't often get reviewed in the Chronicle, just for new or rare repertoire, so the publicity is welcome. Another blogger also came in with a rave review. I haven't seen anything from Classical Voice yet, but maybe that's just as well given their recent track record with reviewers.

DR Jrand73, that completely sucks. As I'm understanding it from you and others, there is pretty much NO WAY to adequately communicate regarding that kind of problem or anything of the sort with Facebook. My impression is that you can only report things in whatever ways they have set up, which means you get one canned response after another, pretty much regardless of the nature or severity of the problem. Such as, you know, little things like identity theft. I do not know why they're allowed to continue operating that way.

A mutual friend - BK knows him in L.A., Michael Gabiano - has been going through this with them, and they do NOTHING. Again, the problem is that you cannot properly communicate with them.

This is probably a stupid question, but in cases like this, DR Jrand73, is it feasible to go through the process of deleting your account entirely (which I think originally couldn't be done, but it's possible now?), and completely start over? You'd first want to make sure you know everyone you're FB friends with so you could contact them and say what you're doing, know what groups you're in that you'd want to rejoin later, etc. etc. etc.  Anyway, pardon me, I'm just rambling, which is what this kind of unjust thing tends to make me do sometimes.

EDIT:  I apologize for the question. I just reread your post. Holy moly on rye.

I also just remembered I have another friend with years of good history on Facebook, who got hacked in some way several months ago, and they have NEVER been able to restore her account. People are getting away with this shinola every day, and you have no recourse.

As for the app...  I hate most "apps", of just about anything, and the only time the FB one gets used is when something directs me to something that opens it by default. And that's a rare occurrence. I go for the desktop versions of everything I can, all the time.

The Facebook HELP wants to send me a code at the email address of the hacker.....which isn't clear to me....or complete. It will no longer communicate or recognize the account email or name that my page is registered to.  The phony account email and password is the only one they will recognize.

I will have to rebuild my entire account.

If you are friends with me on the Facebook please send a friend request to Jackrandall Earles at Facebook and DELETE the account at Jack Randall Earles on Facebook.....

SORRY for the trouble.

I will have to rebuild my friends and groups list at my new account, but I will certainly NOT use Facebook as I used to.

Anybody know anything about Saint-Saens' opera Samson & Dalila?

It's great! I haven't sung it but I've seen it. Are you looking for something more specific?

Getting lost in Samson et Dalila. Lush music. The original story was about lust. Samson for her and Delilah for money. Not so dramatic. The opera is about love. Admittedly, it’s one sided, but his love for her seems genuine given the nature of the music.

Two more opera reviews came in. The Chronicle was a mixed review, focusing more on the opera rather than the performances, as is appropriate for a work that hardly anyone knows. We don't often get reviewed in the Chronicle, just for new are rare repertoire, so the publicity is welcome. Another blogger also came in with a rave review. I haven't seen anything from Classical Voice yet, but maybe that's just as well given their recent track record with reviewers.

Congratulations on the good reviews. A rave is always appreciated.

I received my Girl Scout Cookies order this morning.

My order contained the usual suspects:  Thin Mints (2 boxes), Do-Si-Dos (2) plus Tagalongs (1) and Adventurefuls (1).

I thought Adventurefuls were new.  I've never had one.

They are new to me.  I bought one box...but I haven't tried one yet.

I have heard from security people that the one app you should delete from your phone is Facebook.

I don't have the app anymore.  I had it for a short while, but I just prefer using a browser, even on my phone.

Do you have to sign in every time you use it?

No.  I set my browser to remember passwords and automatically log in.

Yes, in case someone has sent a private message.

I have a separate messenger app on my phone.

I do have the Messenger app, but that's just for directly texting Facebook friends.
