Well, you've read the notes, the notes had a little Latin in them, and now it is time for you to post until the little Latin cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: RESOLUTE!
-
Another word used in a lyric by yours truly.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept rather well. Sometime after 1:30, I had all three cats in bed with me, but by5:00 or so, Stellas had wondered off to oter locales and only Annabelle and Thatch stayed with me.
-
I think this whole Rainbow/Etude nonsense, which was begun by the pianist who recorded the Etude 38, is primarily self-promotion.
-
After the ballet rehearsal, I spoke to my colleague Doug, who is staging the ballet with our other colleague Phil. He told me that I saw the Saturday night March 30 cast, There are two other casts, one for Friday night and the other for the Saturday matinee. I then sent Sarah Wroth, who runs the ballet program, a thank you note for asking me to the rehearsal. This morning she sent me an email asking if there was any way she could get me to Bloomington. I appreciate tat, but I really do not want to hobble onstage on a walker with the rest of the creative team. Perhaps if we were all on walkers I might reconsider.
-
After the rehearsal, I watched the ballet's dept. December production of The Nutcracker. It coast a fortune, but I really dislike it. I'll stick with Balanchine's NYC Ballet production.
I don't knopw if this link works, but here's the IU site where you can watch Nutcracker, other dance and mtions, or my ballet on March 29 and after:

Thanks for that information, DR elmore3003.
-
It's all very exciting.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Nothing exciting happened to me during the night.
-
Which is a good thing, I guess.

~~~WHEELS NOT FALLING OFF VIBES~~~ for DR John G.!!!!!
Modern major miracle or two and telephone call vibes for MR BK.
-
Good news from DR ELMORE!
-
I watched the first 4 episodes of Mary & George last night which were most entertaining....I have 3 episodes left.
-
Pit maneuver videos - is that as in racing pit or orchestra pit?
-
I watched about 45 minutes of the State of the Onion address last night....the behavior of some of the dolts was infuriating....but it was a pretty good speech and told it like it was......
-
There may be some similarities...
-
Today at 1 p.m. the Indiana State Sycamores are playing their first game in the Missouri Valley Conference to see who goes to the March NCAA Championships....I think they play at least one more game this weekend if they win.....maybe two.
-
Congrats to our newest Junior Member DR MICHAELG.
-
Yes....re:the Etude in question......I think this year music copyrighted in 1929 goes out of copyright - so music written/copyrighted before then has expired already.
-
~~~CONTINUED MULTIPLE MODERN MAJOR MIRABLE VIBES~~~ for the likes of BK!!!!!!!

DR singdaw - former DR CILLA LIZ has been interviewed a couple of times by MSNBC, I think. She has some interesting questions for the former president and is used as an example of a former supporter who has moved on to an extent.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Thanks for the link, Elmore.
-
Today is Friday, you know what means...
Do you remember what it meant on The Mickey Mouse Club?
IIRC, isn't Friday "Talent Roundup Day"?
Around these here parts, it means it's fried fish for lunch in all the major eating establishments.
Given that we are all basically southern Baptists or other non-Catholic denominations, it seems rather odd to me that this "fish on Friday" tradition resonates so strongly. Even the Catholics have moved on from it, so I believe.
-
A great night's sleep, but a weird dream.
It involved a car and me getting ready to drive somewhere.
I got in the car and turned the key. Nothing happened.
I opened the hood (as if I could do anything that would help the car run) and found a huge pile of paper rubbish. There was no engine block at all. At the bottom of the rubbish was a piece of plywood.
I woke up at that point and wondered "what the frell" was that all about/
Ah me!

A big storm is predicted to roll into our area tonight and tomorrow with flash flood warnings already in place.
I suspect it will rain, but it may also miss us altogether.
-
In the event you did not know this, Johnston SC proclaims itself "the Peach Capital of the world." We have thousands of acres of peach orchards around here, and they are all in bloom. It's a beautiful sight, but the worry is, as always, that a cold snap with lingering sub-freezing temperatures might destroy the crops.
In other words, the trees are blooming way too early to have much confidence in the annual crop. If the weather stays mild, all is good.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Growing up in Columbus, Ohio in the 50s and probably continuing in South Florida in the 60s, Friday meant fish sticks in the school cafeteria because of those strange and exotic Catholics, of which there was precisely one (1) family and school chum on our block.

Thank you for the link, DR Elmore. I’ve got it bookmarked.

Once again, hardly anything. I’ll be too busy in the next two weeks for much watching or listening.

I forgot about Friday talent day.
When I was young my parents often traveled to conventions so we had live in help. Fridays meant fish for dinner, which for me meant tuna salad or a lot of tarter sauce over something small-lol

I woke up when my sister texted me, and it turns out that a big area is without power!

Eating a slice of pizza at Costco. It’s better than last time, but I need to bring salt.
-
I like the idea of a Thin Mint diet. I just bought some dark chocolate-mint pretzels, which are like Thin Mints, but with a touch of salt to balance the sweetness
-
Kit Kat Dark Chocolate with Mint, the only one of theirs I really like, does a good job for me in providing that near-Thin Mint flavor for those desperate times.

And I believe we all know from desperate times.

Wow so many things happening around here today.

DR JANE you may be right about our former DR.....but there is always hope.

On my local noon news, one of our Indiana congresswomen was interviewed and she certainly heard a completely different speech than I heard last night......if so many people didn't think the same way - it would be funny.

Why is March 8th Oregon day?
NATIONAL OREGON DAY - March 8 - National Day Calendar
Founded in 2017 by National Day Calendar® to celebrate Oregon as the 33th state to join the Union. National Day Calendar is committed to celebrating every aspect of our nation's diverse culture and history, which is why we proudly introduced National State Days.
-
Not much of an answer to the the why. IMHO it should be on February 14th.
-
I didn't retest yet Jane, I'll do that on Sunday,.
Good luck you are covid free.

I am currently reading a book that I was first in the hold queue before the book was released, The Hunter by Tana French. I love when I am first for a favorite author.
-
I just now snagged the first spot in the queue for The Hazelbourne Ladies Motorcycle and Flying Club by Helen Simonson which will be released on May 14th.
-
It makes me very happy when that happens :)
-
Looking at my holds I am first in line for another book that will be released in April.

Been listening to Melissa Errico’s Sondheim in the City album. I am enjoying most of it very much. I especially like her versions of Dawn, Anyone Can Whistle and Good Thing Going.
-
I’m not too fond of the way she pronounces “mizz rubble” for miserable.
-
I was slow and only managed 2nd in line for Erik Larson's The Demon of Unrest: A Saga of Hubris, Heartbreak, and Heroism at the Dawn of the Civil War.
-
First or second on that one doesn't really matter. I already know that I will likely wait to read it. We will be in Ireland and I might want to read that while traveling when I will have little time to read.
-
It looks like it will be another six weeks before I can finish the book I accidentally returned.
-
This afternoon I watched the opening night cast rehearse. They were very good, but I'm still not much of a fan of classical ballet beyond Tchaikovsky.
-
Congrats to DR JANE on her hold success.

The night is fleeting
And all because of the hour that got away

It is 59 degrees right now, and it is raining.
Tomorrow is more of the same, hopefully clearning out tomorrow e'en.
I do not believe I am ready for the time change. It seems we only fell back November 5th, so we are springing forward after only after four months of standard time.
I think the time change is awkward and has served no useful purpose for a long time. Let's just pick a time and stick with it.
Like...supper time!
-
I have done nothing useful all day outside of picking up my mail and getting lunch at Third Generation. Catfish, greens, lima beans and grits were my meal, with a tall cup of iced unsweetened tea.
-
Went to a surprise birthday party for a friend who is turning 70. Nice evening. The restaurant service was excellent. The food fine.
-
During the time we were there, the temperature dropped 20 degrees and the wind picked up. Windy and cooler all day tomorrow.
-
I’m now home and starting The Three Musketeers.
-
I think I need to reread the novel. It’s been since fifth grade, I think.
-
I love this verse from Carolyn Wells:
A tutor who tooted the flute
Tried to teach two young tooters to toot.
Said the two to the tutor,
“Is it harder to toot, or
To tutor two tooters to toot?”
-
Oh, and the power is back on at my house!
Were you at work all day where there was power? If so, how did you know when the power went back on?
If it is known that the power will be off for two hours or more, they let everyone go for the rest of the day, even if the power does come back on later.

So, after playing cards at my mom's (where I did not win ::) ), I drove through Taco Bell and got a Burrito Supreme.
-
And here it is:
-
I got a Burroto Supreme with extra beef.
-
They always ask if you want extra beef or sour cream, but the extra sour cream actually costs more than the extra beef! :o
-
What's that all about??
-
I can almost buy an entire 8-ounce container of sour cream for what their "extra" sour cream costs...and it ain't a full 8 ounces!
-
I also got a Double Stacked Taco.
-
It was pretty good.
-
Not as good as their no-longer-available Double Decker Taco Supreme, but still pretty good.
