Well, you've read the notes, the notes were eye candy, and now it is time for you to post until the ear, eye, nose, and throat cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ADVENTURE!

Good morning.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
What a wacky-sounding production of Peter Pan.
-
Happy Father's Day to all.
-
.
-
If only I had known National Fudge Day would be today, I'd have made some.
-
Happy Father's Day to all!
-
i am having lunch today at the Olde Edgefield Grill just off the square in Edgefield.
I will be with Butch, Sharon and Butch's son Benjamin (who is soon to graduate from Wofford Universityh and then go to medical school).
-
This time next week, I will be awakening in the Hampton Inn of Raleigh in Wake Forest NC.
I have my cousin's reunion (father's side) next Saturday. I will drive up to Wake Forest on Friday where I have reserved my room.
It's a four-hour drive (plus a half hour or so) and I don't plan on beating myself over the head with road fatigue.
-
Good morning, all!
-
And happy Father's Day!
I have no idea what surprise, if any, the cats have for me.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Happy Father's Day
-
I'm helping serve communion this morning, so I am up early.
-
I did sleep well last night, and Thatch had fun this morning playing with me. He likes to jump onto the bed, check my face to be sure it's whom he expects to see, then he walks in circles before he literally throws himself at me. At contact, he ends up lying next to me where he gets lots of pets and cuddles. This went on for some time this morning between 5 and 6:00. When he got bored with that, I fell back to sleep and woke at 7:10 to find him sleeping beside me.
-
I did have a dream for the first time in weeks that I sorta remember. It was something about a college apartment, roommate, and a carton of music that had been thrown out.
-
Cool! I got Wordle in 3...two days in a row! ;D
Congratulations, George!
-
Good morning.
Laura, thanks for the repor on the revised PETER PAN. Sounds like you're happy you saw it.
-
Happy Father's Day!
-
singdaw, glad the family appreciated your being at the wedding.

Thanks, DR Freddie.

If they would each post a post, we could be on page 5 in no time!
-
Good morning, all.
-
I stayed in bed as long as the cat would allow me to.
Which of course wasn't terribly long, but it was a little better than on a normal weekday.
-
Happy Father's Day!
-
DR singdaw:
I enjoyed your repor on the wedding, but I have to express amazement and disappointment that the pastor "stopped short" of condeming gays. What the hell kind of wedding was this?
Pastors, for what it's worth, are NOT supposed to be in the business of condemning anyone. They are expected to offer compassion and prayer to everyone.
-
And happy Tony awards day!
I have set my DVR to record the show, because... alas... (and alack, while I'm at it)... I will not be around to watch it live!
I know none of you will believe this could be possible, but it's true: I'm playing auditions--both this evening and tomorrow evening--for one of the local theeders. And as far as I can tell, this place actually attracts a large turnout, so I don't expect we'll be sitting around twiddling our thumbs.
-
Does anyone... still twiddle... their thumbs?
-
Good stumble-through vibes for BK & Co.!

Couldn't agree with you more, DR Ron Pulliam.

Love it.

A Sunday question for DR Elmore or whomsoever has a clue:
When the Lerner & Loewe shows went from Tams-Witmark to MTI, Tams (and then Concord) retained the overseas rights and MTI handles the domestic. Okay, fine. But it seems that the rights to performing the two-piano score to My Fair Lady (I don't know if there are additional L&L ones) are limited to overseas, and they're verboten in the U.S. at this time.
Am I correct about that? If so, how/why would such a restriction based on one particular scoring of the show even come about? The MFL arrangement is Trude Rittmann's, and it looks really good.
-
DR ChasSmith: in answer to your question from yesterday about CASTRECL, I get individual emails, so the repetition doesn't bother met, but if I got the digest, that would bug me big time.
-
DR George - for someone who is always helping others, it pleases me that you are on the receiving end of some help.

I had to get out early this morning lest I be trapped in my house and miss church

Every Father’s Day there is a run in honor of FDNY Chief Raymond Downey who was killed during rescue operations on 9/11
https://www.fdnyfoundation.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/September-2021-Deputy-Chief-Ray-Downey.pdf
My street and local post office were renamed after him.
-
The run doesn’t last long and by time I’m done with church I can generally get right back home
-
If I were running, it certainly wouldn't last very long.

The youth have been raising money for their trip to the national convention next month but they still had a shortfall.
So in order to raise the last of the needed funds our Pastor has agreed to dye his hair either platinum, pink or blue.
The congregation can vote on their color of choice for $1 a vote, but you can vote as many times as you wish .
-
There was quite a bit of enthusiasm for this fundraiser and people were lining up at the voting table after church with fistfuls of dollars.

I have no information to help you. Emily Altman, who runs the Frederick Loewe Foundation, is not particularly fond of me, but you might send the foundation a message on their Facebook site. Also, contact Jody Edwards at MTI and tell him I told you to ask him. As far as I know, My Fair Lady is the only L&L show with a 2-piano arrangement.

So, I've got that and just got another 50% off coupon for UberEats. I'm set for this week :)

From DR Singdaw:
There was a moment where I though the pastor was going to start condemning gays, but he veered away from this course at the last moment.
A wedding seems an innapropriate time, not that I think any time is good. I'm glad he didn't go there and that the relatives appreciated your going to the wedding.

Yes, a hug is appropriate on Father's Day.

-
The latest Cary Grant flick is called Dream Wife with Deborah Kerr and Walter Pigeon. Lots of sexist jokes that fall flat. Written and directed by Sidney Sheldon, around the time of Redhead.
-
So, the Tonys have started.
-
So far the awards are across the board. Suffs, Gatsby, Merrily, Cabaret, Illinoise have each won an award.
-
So the show is already airing but not here??? That's weird.
-
They start at five here.
-
Stumble-through was really fun - a few lyric fumfers, then a few notes to address and that was that.
-
Chinese chicken salad should be here in twenty minutes.
-
I’m going by a WaPo list. This is the preshow.
-
The Outsiders won one too.
-
Outsiders for lighting design of a musical.
-
Suffs for best book of a musical.
-
Jonathan Tunick for orchestrations. Merrily.
-
Gatsby for costumes/musical.
-
Justin Peck for choreography/Illinoise
-
JaJa’s African Hair braiding for best costumes, play.
-
Cabaret for scenic design, musical
-
Stereophonic for scenic design, play
-
That’s it so far.
-
I think Merrily will be the big winner tonight.
-
Variety says Merrily won best revival.
-
Appropriate for lighting design, play.
-
Jack O'Brien's speech for Lifetime Achievement was especially moving.
-
Nice to see Tunick win his first, and as he said, "for a Sondheim musical."
-
The "pre-show" ended 15 minutes early.
-
Also, when one of the winners used the f-bomb in his acceptance speech, Pluto TV blacked out for about a minute.
-
Snafu with the teleprompter for Billy Porter's acceptance of the Isabelle Stephenson award.
-
Variety says Merrily won best revival.
I didn't see this presented.
-
If Stereophonic is a play, why do they have a cast album?
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Happy Father’s Day to bk and all our HHW dads.
-
Ron, that was an excellent summary you posted about earthing. Not an easy thing to describe.
-
John G, I’m pleased the muscle relaxer gave you some relief. I hope you can soon find a better long-term solution.
Also, I tried earthing, but didn’t feel it was helping me. I should probably give it another try.
-
I’m currently looking into Life Wave patches. Anyone have experience with them?
-
What the HELL did i just watch - worst opening number in the history of the Tonys. Then we get preached at by this non-host. We need someone who knows what they're doing and can bring back the glamour of B'way and this show. Do NOT preach at me. That choreography was everything I HATE. But not as much as the rubes in the audience in the rafters who are told to do what they're doing, which is behave like American Idol.
-
John G, I’m pleased the muscle relaxer gave you some relief. I hope you can soon find a better long-term solution.

it didn't last long.
-
May be back later.
TTFN.
-
If Stereophonic is a play, why do they have a cast album?
I wondered the same thing. According to Isabel Yip on NBC: "But the music in the play itself does not drive the plot; instead, it acts as the product of the band’s turmoil. Only two of the band’s songs are played in full to keep the audience's attention on the details of the recording studio."
-
Okay, hopefully the speeches won't all be like this. Just shut up already.
-
Jeremy Strong, no surprise
-
Father’s Day evening greetings! I prepared one of Richard’s favorite meals - bacon-wrapped filet mignons, baked potatoes, and peas. And strawberry shortcake.
-
Now we’re settled in for the Tony Awards. So far, I’m not impressed.
-
Ten minutes to one musical? I'm just done with musical theater, I guess. I know that show got raves, but I'm the wrong age, and the wrong everything else.
-
Where IS everyone? Where are the comments?
-
This is weak even by our recent Tony standards.
-
What show? I'm not watching
-
You'll note, however, all the play-ons are classic B'way music.
-
Hell's Kitchen, which is an Alicia Keys jukebox musical. I like Keys's songs but wow was that too long.
-
Stereophonic looks like fun, and Will Brill won for best featured actor in a play.
-
This guy doing Pinball Wizard is OK, but he's no Elton John. Fun to see and hear Pete Townshend though!
-
Ooh, the Merrily company is next!
-
Wow, what a concept - a rock musical with actual melody. I don't know from Alicia Keys. I didn't love the staging on the Tommy thing - but the music is as good as always.
-
Kara Young for featured actress in a play for Purlie Victorious.
-
Why don't actors know when the HELL to get off?
-
Loved "Old Friends"!
-
Waiting for JRand to be announced.
-
Finally, an actual B'way song done by people not screaming high notes and begging for screams. I have the feeling that nothing else will reach that apex.
-
Yes, I'm expecting that to be the musical highlight. Hope all 3 win!
-
STOP PREACHING.
-
Daniel Aukin wins best play director for Stereophonic.
-
Was it as good a version as this? Sammy Davis can't remember his lyrics.
https://youtu.be/1gLTKs15SJg?si=dNRNOXX2VX0AbZ4o
-
And a speech that didn't go on forever.
-
Good evening.
-
Danya Taymor for best musical director for The Outsiders.
-
I'll watch clips on Youtube later this week to see what will tour in the next couple of years. I hope there are some good shows coming.
-
Water for Elephants - have no idea what it actually is and from what I just saw, don't care.
-
Ah, another movie adaptation (movie was a book adaptation). Certainly, the movie was not a big hit. But this seems to be a trend.
-
Maria Friedman lost. That was a surprise.
-
Daniel Radcliffe wins for Charley in Merrily!
-
I'm watching a Richard Linklater movie called Everybody Wants Some!! It's ostensibly about college guys wanting to get laid, as the title suggests. But it's also a musical of sorts in that the guys go to a ton of bars, dancing until they find someone to have sex with. The music is nonstop. It's interesting.
-
Dare I ask - where are ChasSmith, George, elmore, Jrand, etc.
-
Kecia Lewis for featured musical actress in Hell's Kitchen. Speech includes a shout-out to her ENT.
-
Singdaw, Jane, who else?
-
I was hoping that Lindsay Mendez would win. I thought she was great in Merrily. I'm so glad that Daniel Radcliffe won.
-
I'm rooting for all the Merrily folks, but it's the only eligible show I've seen so I'm biased.
-
No Justin Peck fan, sorry. Jerome Robbins, yes. George Balanchine, yes. Even Stroman's all dance piece, yes.
-
I saw The Mother Play, Cabaret, and Merrily in April.
-
Those who are missing WILL be held accountable.
-
I remember the glory days - the best of which is when we had over 2,000 posts. Or was that the Oscars?
-
Oscars. Highest Tony tally was about 1260.
-
Suffs for best score - Shaina Taub.
-
Thanks, DR MichaelG, for explaining about Stereophonic.
-
"Old Friends." I guess I understand why, but hasn't it been done a zillion times before?
-
I think Suffs may be the closest thing we have among the new musicals this season to a traditional Broadway score.
-
I saw The Mother Play, Cabaret, and Merrily in April.
What did you think about Cabaret? They just did Wilkommen on the show.
-
I read somewhere that they may film this production of Merrily.
-
I think Suffs may be the closest thing we have among the new musicals this season to a traditional Broadway score.
I think you're right.
-
Cabaret - calling Hal Prince and Ron Field.
-
"Old Friends." I guess I understand why, but hasn't it been done a zillion times before?
Probably not the full song and the show staging, though. That Emmy thing was cute but so slow and not exactly in tune.
-
Dear Lord, these CBS shows they're pushing look AWFUL.
-
I read somewhere that they may film this production of Merrily.
From your mouth to God's ears.
-
Did I miss the Emmy thing???
-
That was linked in a JohnG comment.
-
Yes, Merrily is being pro-shot tomorrow and Tuesday. It is not known yet where the footage may ultimately become available.

Whoo hoo!
-
"Appropriate" for best play revival.
-
I saw The Mother Play, Cabaret, and Merrily in April.
What did you think about Cabaret? They just did Wilkommen on the show.
I enjoyed it but it wasn't my favorite version. I know that the Emcee is "out there" but I thought Eddie Redmayne's characterization was very odd.
-
Having the ceremony at Lincoln Center allows more folks to attend, I guess.
-
Oh, dear Lord - when will the put a stop to the parade of producers who had nothing to do with the show other than putting in a certain amount of money? It's ridic.
-
I enjoyed it but it wasn't my favorite version. I know that the Emcee is "out there" but I thought Eddie Redmayne's characterization was very odd.
It sure looked odd in that number.
-
Is the orchestra even in the building, I wonder?
-
If you're feting Chita, why not do the choreography that Mr. Fosse actually did, rather than the revival, which pretended.
-
It's hard to imagine the band sounding more muffled and poorly mixed. Not something I understand, given the amount of dough poured into the broadcast.
-
Have I mentioned that those in absentia WILL be held accountable?
-
Just a couple of the guys, out for a joy ride.
-
They have Gypsy playing on the car's stereo.
-
What are they smoking?
-
And in the biggest surprise of the night, Stereophonic wins best play.
-
And in the biggest surprise of the night, Stereophonic wins best play.
I'm all agog.
-
Are the hordes of others NOT on the stage - yet more producers.
-
In the pre-show, all of the designers took forever to get to the stage because they were seated at the back of the house.
I guess they saved all the seats close to the stage for all these rafts of faux "producers."
-
How is this show getting to three hours? by having thirty minutes of commercials.
-
Is Ms. Clinton wearing one of Allan Carr's originals?
-
Shouldn't we be on page fifty?
-
The sign behind Hillary looks like they printed it out on a dot matrix printer and duct-taped it to cardboard.
-
Whoever directed this and is having performers turn away from the audience - this isn't The Carol Burnett Show - it's B'way MUSICAL - shoot it from the front.
-
Ten!
-
Do the producers really think that having a few movie stars and pro athletes on hand is going to draw in the viewers?
-
Your Father's Day repast sounds spectacular, DR Ginny.
-
Do the producers really think that having a few movie stars and pro athletes on hand is going to draw in the viewers?
Always
-
At least the Suffs song sounded like a song and had staging that was simple and to the point.
-
Let's get all the football fans to watch the Tonys!
-
At least the Suffs song sounded like a song and had staging that was simple and to the point.
Indeed.
-
Yes, they really think it will draw in younger viewers. The fact that they've been proven wrong for decades doesn't seem to matter.
-
Can you even imagine what that Great Gatsby spot cost?
-
I will have to go back later and see the first few hours of the broadcast proper.
-
Do the show producers have to pay for their air slots even if their shows were nominated for best musical?
-
Can you even imagine what that Great Gatsby spot cost?
Can you imagine how scared the producers are that the other Gatsby got rave reviews?
-
Do the show producers have to pay for their air slots even if their shows were nominated for best musical?
Yes.
-
STOP PREACHING.
-
STOP PREACHING.
Testify, BK.
-
Playing to the camera - I just don't get it. And the director will win an Emmy.
-
STOP PREACHING.
But how else will we get THE MESSAGE?
-
Well, I couldn't stand the movie of The Outsiders and so typical of today's songs - lyrics that sound like statements instead of coming from character - cannot stomach it. And it's a hit, so what do I know.
-
I guess I was right - they get to three hours by having thirty minutes of commercials.
-
But at least one was a Wicked commercial!
-
I love when they do medical commercials and then have to do the litany of side effects.
-
This commercial was brought to you by ...
-
I'd see Stereophonic, simply because I basically lived in recording studios for seven straight years. I wanted very much to write a musical that took place in a studio and I envisioned a set just like they had.
-
I might see Suffs, even though it's probably too preachy - but at least it has something resembling a song.
-
Here comes musical revival.
-
Merrily!
-
Yay!
-
Is Sonia related to Maria?
-
Ah, yes. Sisters.
-
Onward
-
Eleven!
-
Sarah Paulson for best leading actress in a play for Appropriate.
-
And I have to take off for dinner before our Mexican jernt closes.
-
See ya, Michael G
-
What ever happened to just thanking people?
-
So glad the horrid kate shindle is out of Equity.
-
Nice to see they included Richard Sherman in the In Memoriam segment.
-
Yes. Hard to tell if we missed any names because of camera cutting.
-
Nice to include Richard Sherman. Had no idea a few of these folks passed on. I worked with several.
-
Yep, 8:00 is now in sight and they may even go over it if they have two or three more six-minute commercial breaks.
-
I agree with Seth Rudetsky that there should be separate directing awards for revivals versus new productions.
The director's job is completely different bringing a new work to the stage (collaborating with the writers).
-
Best Actress winner should have time deducted from her speech for digging through her purse to try to find her acceptance speech.
-
Watching the extras on Nothing but a Man, a new Criterion release.
-
Maleah Joi Moon, Hell's Kitchen.
-
I have to head to bed soon.
-
Best Actor in a Musical:
Jonathan Groff.
-
Just Best Musical left, I think.
-
I don't understand why there are different numbers of nominees in each category.
-
Best Actor in a Musical:
Jonathan Groff.
Hooray! I’lll have to watch his speech later.
-
Just ordered some won ton soup - need to soothe my poor voice. No talking from now until sound check and I probably won't sound check myself.
-
Wasn't it a strict four per award at one point? Then five? But now, it's spin the wheel, it seems.
-
Groff seems like a very nice chap.
-
Best Actor in a Musical:
Jonathan Groff.
Hooray! I’lll have to watch his speech later.
It was lovely and heartfelt.
-
I'm not sure I've mentioned it, but those absent WILL be held accountable.
-
The Outsiders.
-
How can they give you best book and best score but not best musical?
-
I'm with BK. Pop culture has passed me by.
-
How I long for the old view.
-
Get off my lawn.
-
One more.

DuBose choreographed that hideous opening number??? Did I read that right?
-
DuBose choreographed that hideous opening number??? Did I read that right?
Yes
-
She claimed credit for the choreography right at the end of it.
-
Well, I didn’t see anything tonight that made me want to jump on a plane and fly to New York.
‘night!
-
Must head to bed.
-
Can't wait for the fun excuses - here they are in advance. See if you can assign them: "I went to bed." "I watched the Tonys at a friends so couldn't post." "I was at my mother's." "I don't care about the Tonys." "I thought about coming." "Sorry, was doing other things." :)
-
Good night, all.
-
We should be on page fifty by now.
-
Can't wait for all the Facebook usuals who'll proclaim this was the BEST Tonys ever, just as they do every year and then they look down on those who didn't like it.
-
I don't respond, of course.
-
I could - but I don't.
-
After soup, guess I'll explore what's on Paramount + and Showtime, since I now have it for a week.
-
I subscribe to the top tier of Paramount+, and even now I can't find a way to watch the Tonys there.
I switched over to CBS.
-
I see that Paramount+ now has tonight's Tony pre-show archived.
-
And they have all the previous Tony broadcasts going back about 10 years.
-
Just not tonight's.
-
Yet.
-
I'll check back tomorrow.
-
Soup. Yum.
-
Good night, friends.
-
DR Vixom what color are you voting for?
I put $30 on pink
-
We went out to dinner for Fathers Day
-
Nothing fancy, but a pretty expensive hamburger place we only go to when we want to be fancy
-
Nearly eighty dollars for two burgers, one order each of fries and onion rings and 2 soft drinks,
-
But it was delicious and Vixdad was happy
-
We went for a drive out east earlier in the day, then had a nice long video chat with the Vixfamily Florida branch
-
Vixson was very interested in watching the screen and laughed whenever we said his name so that was fun
-
Then we went out for the aforementioned dinner
-
And then for another drive , the weather really was lovely today and tomight
-
We got home and turned on the tv about 1030 so just caught the end of the Tonys
-
I did a little search through YouTube to try and see what I missed
-
I saw Merrily at the New York Theatre Workshop and then again on Broadway and loved it .
-
I was so glad the show won for best musical revival
-
Also really pleased Daniel Radcliffe and Jonathon Groff won, but quite disappointed Lindsay Mendez didn’t win her category, she was brilliant.
-
Gratuitous Post #365 (days of the year)! :D
-
I have a lot of posts to ketchup on!
-
Otherwise, today was a day.
-
I got one of the two deliveries that I was expecting, so hopefully, the other one will come tomorrow.
-
I then went to my sister's with the family to celebrate my mom's birthday after picking up the large amount of food from the local Panda Express.
-
My sister ordered it online, but put in my information (name and phone number) so that I could pick it all up.
-
My friend Shelly joined us and we all ate and chatted and had a good time.
-
Then we played Phase 10 and my mom won!
-
After Phase 10, we all went to our respective homes, except my sister, since she was already at her respective home. :)
-
The only problem was with the food.
-
A problem with the food?
-
Was the food rude?
-
Nude?
-
Lewd?
-
Did the food have attitude?
-
Did the food know the score to Edwin Drood?
-
Was the food in a mood?
-
My sister had ordered two family meals (three large entrees and two large sides, times two), and Grilled Teriyaki Chicken was one of the items, so we should've gotten two large entrees of them.
-
Only we didn't get two large entrees, only one...and nothing else was missing, nor was there anything unexpected. :P
-
So, after I drove Shelly home, I went back to Panda Express and explained that we didn't get both containers of the Grilled Teriyaki Chicken, and if it wasn't too late (since I didn't notice that when I picked it all up), could I get it now, and they had no problem letting me get another large order of the Grilled Teriyaki Chicken.
-
That's my mom's favorite item, so I brought it to my sister's and my niece will bring it over to my mom's, probably on Tuesday.
-
And then, I did a little shopping at Fred Meyer and then I came home. :)
-
And NOW I need to ketchup on today's posts.
-
I didn't get to see any of the Tony Awards, but I'm sure that I'll be able to see clips online, or maybe at my sister's since she has Paramount+.
-
And now, since we're so close...

I don't know (yet) if anyone's posted this, but here it is!
-
Happy birthday to George’s mom!
Thanks, John!
-
DR George, nice birthday gift you found for your mother.
Thanks, Jane. Too bad I didn't think of it earlier. ::)
Did you print a photo of it and put it in her card?
No, I told her that I had ordered "something" and that it was coming within the week, and that it was a surprise. ;)
-
Since I had my father much longer, I think I miss my mother more on this day, which would have been her birthday. She has been gone for 42 years now.
{{{HUGS!!}}}
I corrected that to having my father much longer instead of mother
And so did I. :)
-
Variety says Merrily won best revival.
That's great!
-
Also, when one of the winners used the f-bomb in his acceptance speech, Pluto TV blacked out for about a minute.
Oh, the horror! ::)
-
;)
-
Snafu with the teleprompter for Billy Porter's acceptance of the Isabelle Stephenson award.
That's too bad. :-\
-
Loved "Old Friends"!
Someone posted this on Twitter X, so I did see it. :)
-
Deliberate Post #400!! :D
-
Here I am! Has a Father’s Day meal with the father in law to attend.
-
Glad you sorted out your teriyaki, G.
-
Maria Friedman lost. That was a surprise.
Darn. :-\
-
Daniel Radcliffe wins for Charley in Merrily!
Yay!!
-
I’m flying to Providence, RI early in the a.m. for a staff meeting.
-
Flying out early, landing at 8pm if all goes well.
-
Glad you sorted out your teriyaki, G.
Thanks, Rod...me, too.
-
Good for Radcliffe.
-
Maria Friedman lost. That was a surprise.

What was she up for?

All the way to Rhode Island JUST for a meeting? :o How long is it supposed to last??

What was she up for?
Director.
-
I'm watching a Richard Linklater movie called Everybody Wants Some!! It's ostensibly about college guys wanting to get laid, as the title suggests. But it's also a musical of sorts in that the guys go to a ton of bars, dancing until they find someone to have sex with. The music is nonstop. It's interesting.
Richard Linklater is directing a film version of Merrily We Roll Along that will be filmed over 20 years, so that the actors will REALLY age during the film.
-
Dare I ask - where are ChasSmith, George, elmore, Jrand, etc.
Today was my mom's birthday. That's where I was. :)
-
Maria Friedman lost. That was a surprise.
Darn. :-\
What was she up for?
Director.
Of what?
-
I was hoping that Lindsay Mendez would win. I thought she was great in Merrily. I'm so glad that Daniel Radcliffe won.
Oh, no. :-\
-
I read somewhere that they may film this production of Merrily.
That would be so cool! :D
-
I’m flying to Providence, RI early in the a.m. for a staff meeting.
All the way to Rhode Island JUST for a meeting? :o How long is it supposed to last??
It’s planning meetings, plural, I should say. Three days worth.
-
I think Suffs may be the closest thing we have among the new musicals this season to a traditional Broadway score.
I think you're right.
I haven't heard any of them.
-

And with that…

-
Yes, Merrily is being pro-shot tomorrow and Tuesday. It is not known yet where the footage may ultimately become available.
Hoo and Ray!!
-
Planning meetings for improving a cemetery magazine? What could not be fun about that?
-
Just a couple of the guys, out for a joy ride.

Well, I'll be in my 70s, so there's still hope for me. ;)

I wish I had saved a meme I saw on X soon after Merrily won best revival. It was from the scene in Lady Bird where the director of the high school production of Merrily says "They didn't understand it." But now he has a smile on his face and says "They understood it." (The meme works better, I'll look for it again.)
-
How can they give you best book and best score but not best musical?
It's not the first time. Into the Woods won best book and score, but Phantom of the Opera won best musical. :-\

I've read them.

I wrote them.
