Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of auctions and madness, with an emphasis on the latter, and now it is time for you to post until the mad cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: BRAINIAC!
-
Just a few more postings until a new number.
-
Here it comes now.
-
Perhaps George can immortalize it.
-
Perhaps he just can.
-
And will.
-
Like now.
-
And here it is! :D

Is sauntering more relaxed than skedaddling?
It is indeed
-
I rarely saunter
-
But often skedaddle
-
And what about canoodling?
-
So many verbs.
-
So little time.
-
Thank you, DR vixmom, for your care of WFO.
-
Good morning, all!
-
BK, that design for Great Expectations is glorious!
-
I did not sleep well, although al;l three cats behaved very well. Stella, who's lately been sleeping elsewhere, has decided to return to me, Thatch, and Stella. There was no fighting, thank God, and they behaved civilly.

When remodels go bad...
-
This is a day of suspense: will the IRS refund land in my account tomorrow? I'm sure hoping so!
-
Me, too!
-
Another gray day here. We haven't seen the sun in almost a week.

And here it is! :D
Congratulations, BK, on your new posting millstone!

IRS refund vibes for Larry!

DR singdaw, Juneteenth is not, yet, a federal holiday.
-
Thanks, DR Ron Pulliam.
-
Behind the scenes...
-
Good morning, all.
-
Coffee!!
-
I got a second wind last night and pulled a late-nighter, and slept in an extra hour this morn'.
-
I know why they call me a grown up.
-
I groan every time I get up.
-
~~~MEDICAL VIBES~~~ for DR John G.!!!
-
When BK gets the computer freeze, he usually says it takes a long time to reboot. I wonder if it's configured to open some things automatically, because it seems like it takes an exceedingly long time.
I don't let anything start automatically, and my 2015 MacBook Pro takes 20-30 seconds, tops. But - and it might be a big but(t) - I also keep it on an older OS now (Catalina) because when I got up to Monterey it was notably chugging away harder at certain things. So I sacrifice a few newer bells and whistles to have a stable system.
Waiting for one's computer to "come up" can be one of the more nerve-wracking things to endure. I do need to make more frequent backups, though. I don't let that happen automatically, either.
-
HA! Congrats to MR BK on his new lofty millstone.
-
Page Three.
-
I enjoyed reading about DR GEORGE's treasure hunt among his own possessions. And the photos.
-
It looks like the Arena Theater was a movie theatre......in NYC.
-
DR JANE soon after the discovery of the wreck of the Titanic, there was a full page ad in the Indy paper that you could buy a piece of coal from the debris field.
No other items were being brought up at that time - I think there was a dispute over who owned the stuff.
The piece of coal was $39.95 and was mounted on that little base with a gold plated plaque that has our name on it....and a certificate of authenticity. I bought the clear plastic cover to put over it.
Now and then some show up on EBAY.
I look at it now and then and think about that night.
-
The director asked me to run the sound cues on a CD player last night....and I was also reading Fassbender who is in Puerto Rico for the week.....so it was rather hectic.
Our female lead - who is also the director's daughter - has decided that her ad libs and business are hilarious and continues to be a lowlight of the evening....
-
She is also giving invaluable advice to the stage managers, the costumer, and line readings to the other actors.
The last time she appeared onstage was as one of the orphans in OLIVER! a few decades ago.
-
It looks like the Arena Theater was a movie theatre......in NYC.
I thought of Arena Stage in the DC area, but how long has that been around? It also says "rain check"...?
-
The movie Film is Dead. Long Live film! last night was excellent, as was director Peter Flynn's and Robert Harris's discussion and Q&A afterwards.
It's about film preservation, and revolves around some of the notable film collectors of the recent and not-so-recent past. He has an earlier one called The Dying of the Light, about film presentation which revolves around some of the notable projectionists, and we all want to see that one, too. RAH will see about bringing it in and having Peter back for it. He's a very entertaining talker and was right at home with RAH.
Jason Scott of the site Internet Archives was there to see it, too, and it seemed like they all had plenty to talk about. Me, I can listen to all of that stuff until the cows come home.
-
She is also giving invaluable advice to the stage managers, the costumer, and line readings to the other actors.
The last time she appeared onstage was as one of the orphans in OLIVER! a few decades ago.
Is she financing the production, by any chance?
-
Good morning, all.
-
All the devices are charging. Wish I could do likewise.
-
I'm going to watch Origin this morning in honor of Juneteenth. I had read the book Caste a couple of years ago. This is about the writing of that.
-
Our libraries are closed today.
-
I, of course, have something I want to pick up, namely Hitchcock's German version of Murder! (It's like Oklahoma! Exclamation mark included.)
-
DR singdaw, Juneteenth is not, yet, a federal holiday.
It has been a federal holiday for three years now.
-
At least according to what I just read.
-
And I believe everything I read on the Internet.
-
Congratulations, BK, on your milestone.
-
More vibes for WHO. Great news about him being off oxygen.
-
ChasSmith, the film presentation sounds great. Thanks for the repor.
-
John G, any updates on your insurance covering the MRI?
-
I've decided to jump into the sourdough craze several years after it started. I'm on day three of my starter. It has bubbled and foamed and shot up in the glass and is doing everything it's supposed to.
-
John G, any updates on your insurance covering the MRI?
Not yet.
-
DR FREDDIE you would think she was.
-
DR CHAS SMITH perhaps it was a stadium.....it has a section number on it....and yes RainCheck.....so it was something outdoors.
Perhaps DR VIXMOM can tell us.
-
And DR CHAS SMITH I am reading a book from 1957 titled Broadway In A Barn by Charlotte Harmon about a stock theatre in Connecticut that she and her husband ran....in a town called Guilford called The Chapel Playhouse.
I am assuming it's a real place.
-
Didn't know about it but it appears to be, or to have been, real.
Meanwhile, DR George needs to flip through those Playbills and find the Arena! :)
-
DR Jrand73, please keep us up to date on the various improvements this woman is able to bring about. Isn't it great to have someone on board who, um, knows so much???
-
Onward!
-
Four!
-
More coffee!!
I just realized why I'm moving slowly today. I took a Benadryl late last night to dry me up, and it's a good sleep agent as well, but it can sometimes leave me feeling kind of groggy, too.
-
Has anyone read The Thirteenth Tale?
-
And here it is! :D
Congrats Bruce!
I loved this commentary on the Cabaret number on the Tony's. From Vulture:
On Sunday night?s Tony Awards broadcast, the Best Revival of a
Musical?nominated production of the
so-good-and-classic-it?s-honestly-hard-to-fuck-it-up-this-bad Kander and
Ebb show staged a performance of its opening number, ?Willkommen,? without
so much as a trigger warning. Redmayne?s portrayal of the role made iconic
by Joel Grey is scary in all the wrong ways. The Emcee should definitely be
a menacing, uncanny figure, but he?s also actually supposed to *lure the
audience in *for the show?s knife twists to work. This song is an
invitation and an induction. The Emcee must have a degree of charm, or sex
appeal, or feeling of camaraderie, so that you get that gut-sinking feeling
of complicity as the fascism closes in.
But Redmayne is repulsive and confusing, igniting a fight-or-flight
response in thousands of innocent viewers who did nothing to deserve this.
Looking like a waxy *Five Nights at Freddy?s *malfunctioning animatronic
stripped of its fuzzy bulk and coated in a taut layer of borrowed human
skin, he is shot in extreme close-up as he makes direct eye contact through
the television screen into your living room. He can see you. He can eat
your thoughts.
DR FREDDIE yes having her on board will relieve a lot of the pressure on the rest of us.
I keep forgetting to mention that I listened to the new Broadway cast recording of The Wiz.
While it is not my favorite style of music, I think they did a great job.
-
The Follies concert at Carnegie Hall is imminent...
Don't imagine they'll record it again.
But you never know.
Spellcheck must have “fixed” that for me.
I was hoping for a recording from the Titanic that DR ChasSmith will be seeing this weekend.
But since they released a DVD/Blu Ray from the recent movie presentation from the UK, probably not.
I suppose the director agrees that she is hilarious ::)
She is also giving invaluable advice to the stage managers, the costumer, and line readings to the other actors.
The director is not doing her any favors by letting her get away with this behavior.
I've decided to jump into the sourdough craze several years after it started. I'm on day three of my starter. It has bubbled and foamed and shot up in the glass and is doing everything it's supposed to.
Years and years ago I made a sour dough starter and couldn't stand the smell. Since we lived in California getting good sour dough bread wasn't a problem.
-
When we lived in Michigan Bryan wanted me to make sour dough bread so I made another starter, and the bread a few times. Again the smell really bothered me so I stopped.
-
Bryan now has his own sour dough starter and there is always bread sitting on a cutting board.
-
For us, we discovered that Fred Meyer near us sells the excellent sour dough bread from the Portland bakery I love.
Wednesday evening greetings! Yesterday I braved the heat and humidity to shop in Cincinnati with my friend Sue. We had a good time, but I was glad today to stay home in the air conditioning.
DR Jane, we have temps in the 90s, with humidity that makes it feel 10 degrees warmer and an air quality alert to boot. It’s just plain nasty outside.
So far, only the lead has responded and thanked me and told me how excited she was to be involved....we shall see if I get more responses tomorrow.
About a new water heater...my mom has a tankless water heater, and I've been wondering
