Well, you've read the notes, the notes had fireworks and wieners, not necessarily in that order, and now it is time for you to post until the fourth of July cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: SOCIABLE!

To continue from last night: after the fireworks, which were enjoyable (except for the screamers ::) ), I drove the German family back to my mom's house and we discussed what they wanted to do this morning.
-
The city of Tumwater is having its own Independence Day parade and they'd like to see it, so I took the chairs that we had for the fireworks and set them out on the street near the beginning of the parade. Then, I'll pick them up at my mom's (who doesn't want to see the parade) and drop them off at the chairs, then I'll park (hopefully close by) and go back to them and we'll all watch the parade together.
-
After we're done watching the big parade go by (a Maltby and Shire reference ;) ), I'll get the car, pick up them and the chairs, and take us all to my sister's for the big 4th of July get-together!
-
Then, my mom can drive them back to her house.
-
Happy to hear the Rodzette is doing better!
-
George, it was enjoyable to read of all that activity you had going on last night!
-
vixmom, sorry to read that your team lost the game last night, but it sounds like it was quite a nice get-together!

Good morning, all!

I slept well until some time around 4:00 when I woke from a dream in which my friend Alan Gomberg and I were trying to convince Judy Kaye to play the Queen in a production of Jubilee. Then, as I was dozing back off, Annabelle jumped from the bookcases onto the bed in front of my head. The shock woke me right up and I spent the next two hours trying to sleep, thinking about a possible production of Jubilee, and playing with Thatch and Annabelle.
-
I have absolutely no plans for today and that suits me fine.

Yay! It’s a holiday and a day off from work!

I can sleep in!

Alan Gomberg has such wisdom as a commenter and as something of a scholar and historian on musical theater, in the Times theater section reader comments and (as "AlanScott") on Talkin' Broadway.
Maybe he would have the right level of knowledge and thoroughness to be an asset in real life in projects like the one you dreamed about?

Good morning, all.

Good morning, friends.

DR George has been (is being?) a busy bee.

Who decides these things?
-
I have no plans for today, too, and I hope it stays that way.
I loved fireworks as a kid, and off and on as an adult. But honestly, they bore me now.
The times that I've gone anywhere to see them, say, in the last ten years, what I've enjoyed is the company and the food and other things that are going on. And these have truly been some fun times. But when it's time for the fireworks, I let everyone else ooh and aah while I sit there bored and counting the minutes.

They have a pool, but I will not be jumping in.

Independence Day greetings! No plans here, either. We’d like to go out for burgers, but will have to time it to avoid the predicted thunderstorms.

Yes, rain predicted here - many of the fireworks displays have been cancelled.

Good morning, all.
-
Got about six hours of sleep. I think I was too exhausted to do otherwise.
-
I think Judy Kaye would make a great Queen in Jubilee, especially after playing the real queen in Diana.
-
Do you prefer just taking in the sun, or just don't care for swimming?
I just wouldn't subject anyone to my body in a swimsuit at present. Even family.
-
Judging by my email inbox, July 4 has become just another excuse to sell people stuff. It ain't working.
-
Yes, rain predicted here - many of the fireworks displays have been cancelled.
The local parade has been cancelled due to the stormy forecast.

Rain here too.....but it is supposed to clear in the afternoon.

Happy INDEPENDENCE DAY!!!
Today may be the last one we will have as our founders intended!
1. We have no king.
2. We have freedom of speech.
3. We have freedom of, as well as from, religion.
4. We have freedom of assembly.
5. We ARE the government: We elect those we think may govern us fairly and in consonance with our Constitution. We all have the right to vote and be counted.
6. We are ALL IMMIGRANTS from different periods of history (since there were no Native American signatories on the Constitution, this remains true).
7. We have a government of checks and balances, with the President and the Executive Branch, the Congress and the Legislative Branch, and with the Supreme Court and the Judicial Branch. None is superior to the other, and each is bound by oath to serve the needs and will of the American people.
Never in our history have these things been so perilously close to utter collapse.

I think Judy Kaye would make a great Queen in Jubilee, especially after playing the real queen in Diana.
AND she at least sang the roles of three more (Catherine of Aragon, Anne of Cleves, Catherine Parr) for the concert recording of Six Wives (https://castalbums.org/recordings/Six-Wives-2013-Concert-Cast/37397/).

It's telling that Huston stole one of Victory 's most emotional moments from the best. The game between the Germans and the Allies is pure sports movie magic, but then the French start to sing Le Marseillaise and it moves on to a new emotional level. What fun.
Also, watching Pele play soccer is like watching a fine dancer.

Round one of a "have-it-out-with-a-relative" has been completed.
I posted my Independence Day post here also on Facebook.
Please note that there is zero mention of political party or person or any reference to liberals or progressives in that post.
Yet, one relative's post was so condemnatory of liberals, and she said "Democrats lie" and all sorts of Fox News crap.
Not one reply to my post mentioned any news channel or report, yet she had to post "You are watching the wrong news network".
I deleted her comments and messaged her that I've had enough of her rancid posts. I said the same things to her I said above, and I invited her to spread her Fox News-obtained disinformation on her own Facebook page. i said I wanted to remain friends, but there is no room for her proselytizing what I consider nonsensical fake news.
Haven't heard any feedback yet, but I expect there will be some. And more from her husband who is actually related to me.

A very happy birthday to DC Leonard!
This week we got the vet's automated birthday greeting for Mikey, who is 16. Sixteen! It seems like we just adopted him maybe five years ago, but in fact it was in 2010. His age was a guesstimate, but a pretty good one, based on the observations of his original rescuer on Lawn Guyland back then.

And hello, page 5!

So sorry about your dental predicament, Vixmom. Do you know of any holistic dentists? I had a problem some years ago with major erosion of the enamel of eight teeth (tongue-side). My dentist could only offer a coating, which I tried but it barely lasted six months. She said nothing else could be done. I found a holistic dentist, who made eight “reverse veneers” for me. Not cheap — about the price of eight crowns — but I’ve had them for ten years or so with no issues. This won’t solve your bone structure problem, but they may know of something that will. Holistic dentists have the all training as traditional dentists, but have taken additional coursework and can offer additional services as a result. My advice would be to do some digging and don’t give up!
-
Happy 4th to you, too, Freddie, and to all DRs!

Today was meant to be a major tossing day. I did some laundry, but am now worn out. So many decisions! Keep this? Toss it? Will one of the charities take it? I just took another trunkload to Goodwill last week, but you’d hardly know it. Much yet to do!

It’s a lovely day here, in the 70s with a breeze. The 4th of July is always so hot, but today we lucked out.

This week’s Tales of the Condo Hunt:
On Sunday I received an email listing of a condo in a building I like. I contacted my agent that day, requesting a viewing on Wednesday afternoon at 2:30. No word back from the listing agent. On Tuesday my agent asked again. Nothing. Yesterday at 2:15 I contacted my agent again, saying that I assumed it was not on. He replied that the seller is doing some “upgrades” and it won’t be available to be viewed until next week. Surely one of them knew this. I was in the building anyway for a hair appointment, but find their sloppiness off-putting. Why list a property when you’re not prepared to show it? I wasn’t in love with the place, but I am a serious buyer.
-
Yes, DR Chaz, I’m looking in LA’s Westside.

DR Ron posted some interesting options for President Biden. I know Liz Cheney and Constitutional scholars are not at all happy with the SCOTUS decision, but have not heard on any real plans of attack. Her website — www.greattask.com — didn’t mention anything. Anyone heard of any organized efforts?

If there was an open house for realtors they might be doing upgrades based on feedback. Still, that is annoying. We have also dealt with issues getting into homes for sale.

I was in the building anyway for a hair appointment, but find their sloppiness off-putting. Why list a property when you’re not prepared to show it? I wasn’t in love with the place, but I am a serious buyer.
Darn...that is quite inconsiderate. :-\

DR Laura love the new avatar.
I saw the mother of the guy who is playing Hook in the Peter Pan tour. She went to Phoenix to see him and was surprised to find the understudy in the part. Her son lost his voice a few hours before showtime.
Oh, no! That's terrible! :o

I like the math here. From an Amazon description: This casual Hawaiian shirt is made from a soft and cool fabric with a main component of 95% polyester and 17% Elastane.
WTH?? :D

This is a metal chicken.

That's pretty cute!
-
It shoots fireworks out of its ASS.
:))

There was a feast tonight to celebrate, all buffet style. We especially enjoyed the pigs heads.
Your cruise sounds lovely, but I am confused about the pigs’ heads.
😕
Real roasted pigs head at the barbecue :P
Ew! :P

Finished with my viewing.
-
Lots of thuds and bangs still going on. I will never ever understand people who do this.
-
Selfish is selfish.
-
Then again, shellfish is shellfish.
-
Other than a brief trip to the garage, I haven't left the house.
-
I do need to cool it down again.
-
Then again, who doesn't.
-
Isn't it time for the return of George?
-
Isn't it just?
-
Or is HE the one shooting off fireworks.
-

It seems like the fireworks around here have ended.
-
Isn't it time for the return of George?
I has returned!
-
Or is HE the one shooting off fireworks.
Never!!

Gratuitous Post #200!!
-
So, I just realized that this happened to me:
-
The sun was behind us and to the left, so my left arm got the sun, but my right arm had the shadow of my body protecting it,, so it didn't burn.
-
So, I've been making DVDs of a few of my VHS tapes that I kept.
-
...and one laserdisc.
-
...so far. :)
-
The laserdisc was for the live London concert version of On the Town:

(The image below is a stock image.)

So, you didn't eat anything after seven-thirty, the time of your last post before this current batch?
-
One of the (purchased) VHS tapes that I recorded was this other version of The Phantom of the Opera:

Yikes! :o I've been talking on the phone with my friend David who lives in Seattle and I totally forgot!
-
PAGE EIGHT DANCE!!
-
At my sister's today, my mom bought some steaks for the steak eaters (not me nor my vegetarian sister and niece), and my cousin Thomas cooked them on the barbecue.
-
Everyone said that he did a great job cooking the steaks.
-
I cooked the hamburgers (preformed patties) and they turned out quite good, also. :)
-
We also had corn on the cob, vegetarian baked beans, a jar of sauerkraut (my sister's boyfriend brought that), a pasta salad that my friend Shelly really liked, potato salad, and two kinds of pie for dessert.
-
We had a cherry pie and an apple pie.
-
Everyone wanted the apple pie (and since we got it at Costco, there was plenty of it), except me.
-
Don't get me wrong, I like apple pie, but it's been several years since I've had a cherry pie, so I had the first and only piece.
-
It was very good, as was the apple pie...I tasted a stray apple piece. ;)
-
As usual, there were lots of leftovers, so pretty much everyone local went home with something.
-
We all had a great time and chatted (in German and English and a mishmash of both ::) ).
-
I came home and napped for a couple of hours.
-
I was really tired from being out in the heat all day.
-
Well, crap! More (and LOUDER) fireworks are being set off! >:(
-
Oh, and the other (purchased) VHS tape that I recorded to DVD (since it also wasn't copy-guarded ;D ) was a concert celebrating Leonard Bernstein's 75th birthday:

Both Leonard Bernstein Place and On the Town came out in 1993, and a few people are in both.
-
Cleo Laine is in On the Town. ;D
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
