Well, you've read the notes, the notes had the brew that is true, and now it is time for you to post until the pellet with the poison cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PIQUANT!
-
Good morning, friends.
-
And others.
-
:)
-
In other words, Shut the front door!
-
.
-
Who decides these things?
-
BK, have you considered creating your own Kritzerland index?
A simple spreadsheet with the songs and the date of the show would be searchable, and then you'd always know which Commentary you need.
-
It's a shame that Spotlight doesn't work the way it's supposed to.

~~~IMPORTANT ENVELOPE VIBES~~~ for BK!!!!!!
-
Good morning, all!
-
It was another too-restless night. I'll be glad to get to "Some People" in a couple of hours.
Last week, I ordered litter from Petsmart. When I checked on the situation Tuesday, the site told me the order had expired, so I called customer service who told me they had been having computer/shipping issues so they would credit the order and I should reorder. The credit came through Paypal ASAP and I reordered. Since then, I have had two additional Paypal Petsmart charges for the same amount sdhow up on my bank ledger. So, this morning, PPetsmart Customer service and I need to have another talk.
-
Good morning, all.
The same thing happened yesterday with Amazon: in June, I order5ed two pet odor candles; they're essentially apple-cinnamon scented candles inside glass jars. Wewll the carton arrived with both glass containers broken, so I foolishly tried to report the issue to Amazon and they sent me a return label. I then called - it's a major pain in the ass trying to find a phone number for Amazon - Customer Service, told them the problem, and explained that with my mobility life was difficult getting aboput. If Ann oand Jen had been in town, I would have asked Jen to drop it off at a UPS store when she walked Oscar.
-
I'm aware of my grief and will be even more so this afternoon and tomorrow, thank you very much.
So, Customer service sent me two more at No Charge. On Monday, Aug. 19, Amazon sent me an amail saying they wanted that return or they would charge me for them. I called customer service and the younf man I spoke to assured me all was good.
Well, it wasn't. Yesterday, Amazon charged me for those candles, and I had to deal witrh another Customer service rep. They've issuied a credit for the charge. Why are sych simple things so god damned difficult?
I send my condolences, DR JohnG. I hope the next days go smoothly for you and your family.
Good morning, all.
Condolences and vibes for DR John G. and family.
-
Good morning.
-
I'm sorry to hear the sad news, Ginny and John.
-
Last night I was in the mood to have something on the TV to get drowsy and fall asleep to. I just have cable in the bedroom, and TCM didn't have anything that interested me so I pulled up the guide. Some channel right next to TCM was showing The Color of Money, and I watched the second half of that. I'd forgotten how old that is, and Tom Cruise is ridiculously young in it. When that was over I was still wide awake. Next up was Shutter Island (must have been Scorsese night). That's such a weird uneven movie, but I like the setting and style so I watched some of that before finally falling asleep, waking up just before the end and shutting it off. Then of course I woke up way too early in the morning. And so it goes.
post until the pellet with the poison cows come home.
I may have read somewhere on the internet that that might have been the origin of the expression "Pellet Surprise."
-
Not to be confused with the expression about unexpected chicken dishes, the "Pullet Surprise"
The romantic goings-on of the cast of FLOWERS FOR ALGERNON could have been fodder for delightful press coverage by an Earl Wilson or Rona Barrett in a different time and place!
Or maybe a modern-day locally-based Rex Reed.
Ron, thanks for the explanation about Cotton Candy Grapes yesterday!
They sound like they must be delicious.
This is a day where I know exactly why a person takes a gun and starts shooting. Thanks to a Paypal/Petsmart screw up, two bogus charges totaling $80.32 - already paid - sit in my checking account ledger until Sept. 7, 2024, when the bank will hopefully drop them. The fact that I have $80 I need and cannot access has me furious, wanting both the bank and Petsmart who created these charges, dead at my feet. The fact that I had to wait till 9:00 for a phone call at a PST of 6:00a.m. only increases my fury.
-
As far as the other $85 charge pending from Paypal eight days ago, Paypal says it should have cleared already. WTF?
-
And I keep getting harassing emails from MacPaws, which handles Clean My Mac, for a subscription renewal of $34.95.
Well, Paypal paid it on Aug. 24. WTF?
From a column mentioning author James McBride:
Speaking about the Black and Jewish characters in “The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store,” McBride said, “There are places where we have common ground, and this common ground is wide. It’s a big world. And as a writer, if you don’t take advantage of that, then you’re missing the stuff that people get out of bed for.”
His goal, he said, is “to continually evolve and look toward the goodness of people because when the good comes out — it takes a while — it just bursts and shines with the most beautiful light. . . . All of us were young at one time; we were all young once and pretty and beautiful and handsome. And you know what? We still are. We just have to relearn to see that in ourselves. So, my goal as a writer is to just find that in another way and say it in another way.”
You are right DR FREDDIE.....I am thinking of writing a blog about local theeder under an assumed name.....
Back in the 1990's - the Indianapolis theeder was plagued by such a column on one of the various free Gay newspapers....they writer was nearly always accurate and caused lots of distress among those in relationships in the community....
In the movie Disobedience, Rachel Weisz's character visits Willisden cemetery in London, and I thought, "Hey, I've been there!" You can tell a genealogist when the one London location shot he recognizes is a cemetery :).
Since we often explore cemeteries I checked to see if we have been to this one. I don't think so. My grandmother is buried in a different Jewish cemetery in London.
One of my treks was to the AutoZone to buy new windshield wipers for Petey the PT CRUISER.
And as luck would have it - I was caught in a torrential downpour going to the theeder yesterday afternoon.....made much easier and much safer because of the new wipers....
I did find out yesterday that the pair of keets enjoy the music of The Brothers Four very much.
I think they were singing in harmony along with the BF.
Yesterday the gentleman playing the lead brought in the "hospital bed" that is used in one scene - to bring him in after the operation.
As I was talking before the rehearsal I said thanks....and he mentioned that it came from his job. I kept talking....and then I realized.....and hesitated.....
His job is at a funeral home.....which means....that the device he brought.....is used for......well.....
I stopped another moment....and told him I just realized what he said and he replied...."It's the most action it has ever or will ever see......"
Which one? I've been to most of them on my visits. Willesden makes a lot of sense for this movie, both due to its beauty and its location.
No, but it’s next to the one I meant, the United Synagogue cemetery. I haven’t been to the Liberal Jewish cemetery, I wonder if I have relatives there too?
Been working on The Spitfire Grill for the couple of rehearsals I'm playing next week, and it's really grown on me.
The little I know of its history and its story is that it takes place in rural Wisconsin. But prior to knowing that, the songs and the scoring said "Appalachia" to me from the get-go. They still do. Am I so wrong? I'm sure I'm not supposed to think that a "rural" sound in music is always supposed to mean it's Appalachian, but...
DR Elmore, do you know this one?
EDIT: I've never yet seen the original movie, but will make a point of doing so.
Interesting. My father's mother's first cousin was religious. I wonder if he was buried at the United Synagogue Cemetery.
My grandmother, my mother's mother, was not Jewish. My Jewish stepgrandfather buried her there, which I'm sure she was fine with. It is a very nice place. There were green glass stones in a decorative area in front of her headstone. I have one on my desk I brought back with me.
Yes, United Synagogue is Orthodox so your maternal grandmother wouldn't be buried there.
You can find who is buried at United Synagogue cemeteries online: https://theus.org.uk/what-we-do/burial/find-a-grave/
I'll have to see if there's something similar for the Liberal Jewish cemetery; I suspect there is.
I was up until two-thirty with the commentary - I refuse to write again what I've already written, but the searching is beyond frustrating. One thing I was able to do that worked was find a video on YouTube that identified the show number and theme and from there Spotlight finally found it under the show number.
DR RON PULLIAM the program copy has already been submitted, so it will have to be announced in the curtain speech or on a notice in the lobby......
-
Now I am curious where the cousin is buried. Unless there is another Orthodox cemetery I expect he is at United Synogugue. Once Keith is free I will ask him if he has the information in his records.
-
My cousins, like my family, changed their last name. I'm not sure which generation made the change. I'll find that out before looking for his grave.
We had appointments today for our flu shots. Since the Pfizer covid vaccinations were available we got those instead.
I'm not getting two shots in the same arm (can't do the right arm), and don't long doing more than one vaccination at a time anyway. We will get our flu shots next week on the day we booked for the covid ones.
I'm definitely getting both shots, but I am hesitant to get them so early in the season.
Covid is here. We also have a reason to get them now. We are attending a wedding and don't want to catch covid or the flu before our Southwest National Parks trip.
Thanks for the link. Keith does genealogy and I know he looked up where my grandmother was buried before we went there.
Unfortunately we cannot find his communication with someone at the Liberal Cemetery.
Thanks for checking! No worries, there's an amazing Jewish London Genealogy & Family Research group on Facebook where I can ask. One member of the group got me into a cemetery that's usually closed to the public, where I found my great-grand-aunt and confirmed she really was my great-grandfather's sister.
Hiya, G!
-
I was inspired by BK to watch You’ll Never Outfox the Fox from the Court Jester.
-
And I made a most unseemly discovery.
-
The home test revealed: positive for COVID.
NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
The Fox rhymes “derring-do” with something like “you’ll wind up in the same position herring do.”
-
I am not feeling ill right now, but I think it's inevitable.
~~~Feel Better Quickly Vibes for Singdaw and His DH!!~~~
-
You see the problem, music theatre lovers?
-

“Deeds of derring do.” Rhymed by Max in “No Way to Stop It” with:
“Up against a shark what can a herring do?”
-
Scandalous!
-
i love the score for The Spitfire Grill (the musical).
I have the printed libretto.
I <ahem> procured a PDF copy of the full score with parts. ::)
;)
-

A woman who met Mom through Meals on Wheels made Mom's recipe for Chocolate Surprise Cookies and brought them to the visitation. They tasted like Mom's. It was a sweet surprise.
Very nice!

Hiya, G!
Hello, R!
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
But I recently heard that I do not care for page seven.
-
And yet, here we are on page seven.
-
“Deeds of derring do.” Rhymed by Max in “No Way to Stop It” with:
“Up against a shark what can a herring do?”
WTH?? :o
-
And here we are on page ate.
-
We can now breathe easier.
-
It's not the first time a rhyme has been "reused." ::)

Why, yes, you are, BK! :D

Sylvia Fine was a terrific lyricist.
-
Or, better yet, Sylvia Fine was a fine lyricist.
-
There, that's better.

Hang tight while I change the topic.
