Well, you've read the notes, the notes were spry and had a spring in their step, and now it is time for you to post until the spry cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: IMMINENT!
-
Topic of the Day:
70, Girls, 70 (only know the score)
Driving Miss Daisy
Follies
The Gin Game
Trip to Bountiful

So, back in July, I ordered Brian Tyler Cohen's first book, Shameless: Republicans' Deliberate Dysfunction and the Battle to Preserve Democracy (https://www.amazon.com/Shameless-Republicans-Deliberate-Dysfunction-Democracy/dp/0063392887/). It was just released and it arrived a couple of weeks ago:

-
Well, if you pre-ordered the book, you could've signed up online to get a signed bookplate for Shameless, and I did, and that arrived yesterday! :D
Here's the bookplate:

Good morning, friends.

That is all.

Good morning, all.

Get well vibes for DR singdaw!
-
Spitfire rehearsal was fun last night. I look forward to seeing the show.
-
This coming Sunday and Monday I'm playing auditions for another theeder's Jesus Christ Superstar.
And...it's hard to believe, but...on the following Sunday and Monday we have auditions for our own Snoopy.
Excuse me, where did the year go?
-
I have to have played more auditions this year than ever before.
Like, ever.
-
EVER???
Well.....hardly ever......
-
Vibes for DR GINNY.
-
Feel better vibes for Boss Daddy DR singdaw.
-
Well.....last night the show went well....I can only credit the HHW vibes. I didn't feel like lying on the theeder floor and staring at the ceiling instead of the stage.
I set the show in 1985 and the costumes are fine.
I have come to terms with the fact that the first act in 82 minutes long and the second act is 70 minutes long....it moves right along with no breaks between scenes....only a couple of blackouts....mostly lights fading from one part of the side to the other.
The stage crew are dressed as lab technicians in black trousers and white lab coats so when they do their thing it kind of looks like clinic/hospital stuff is happening...
And the music/sound is good....as is the lighting....so there you are.
-
Now if everyone would just learn his damned lines!
-
Tonight is another dress rehearsal....that last until Monday.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I had a very restless night, with one long dream about working at The drama Book shop. I cannot remember at this point anything about the dream.
-
I did have a strange occurrence early this morning. I woke around 5:00, and there was a figure - could have been a man or woman - dressed in bright white standing a bit away from the bed. At first I thought it was a nurse's uniform, but then it vanished as soon as I blinked my eyes.
-
Joshie may stop by this morning with "Have an Egg Roll, Mr Goldstone," and I will give him "Small World," which is quite interesting: Merman's orchestration for the song on the original Broadway cast album is not the orchestration in the band parts or published vocal score.

Inneresting. Very inneresting.
I must go back and listen to that. It's been a long time.
-
I am reminded that I had one of my lost-car (this one was actually a stolen-car) dreams last night. I awoke from it at 2:33 a.m. What a bloody relief it is when you're awake enough to realize something like that was but a dream.
The car was a powder-blue one of some vintage. I've never had a blue car. The color was based on something seen on Facebook yesterday.
-
DRT John G, I have not read Water for Elephants, but I really enjoyed the movie adaptation. My friend Jim Norton, who played Finian in the 2009 revival of Finian's Rainbow, has a wonderful role as a circus roustabout.

BK wrote in the Notes: "I need to get the damn blood flowing and my metabolism working and in shape for the show I’ll be directing early next year."
BK, when will this be announced?
-
On the subject of GYPSY -
This was the duet Patti LuPone did with Randy Rainbow just before the 2020 election.
And it seems to have worked - Donald lost that election!

Nikki Renee Daniels is an astonishing actress/singer. I highly recommend her album.

I saw Thelma recently, and agree with BK - it was enjoyable, but didn't quite deliver on the premise. I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but BK has succinctly summarized the pluses and minuses.

Kitty cleanup is over and I am back from the basement. This morning kitty cleanup was particularly nasty. One of the cats, and I suspect it's Stella, had diarrhea all over the basin of the bathtub, so I had to clean out the mess and scrub the tub down with scouring cleanser; this added about fifteen minutes to the usual task.
I have got to land a job that pays me enough to get the three cats to a vet in the very near future.
-
I would add:
Tea with the Dames
The Trip to Bountiful
The Whisperers
-
I had a bad night of sleep, including a recurring dream of having to pack up someone's flag collection as part of a job. The first time I woke from that, I realized I was glad to be retired and that it was only a dream.

Then I had it again

A highlight is their dog-friendly approach :)

The plot of "Thelma" sounds a lot like something that happened to one of my mom's friends here about 8 years ago. She had a grandson in California, and he called her and told her he needed money to pay a fine and begged her to not tell his parents. She truly thought it was him. It wasn't. Her grandson didn't even know the guy who was later caught.
Turns out he was a computer hacking whiz who learned all he needed to about students at a local university by hacking their Facebook accounts and getting enough info to carry out his scam.

Most important, my eyes look good and I can stop using the after surgery drops.
-
No change in my vision in either eye since the last visit, meaning my right eye is not as good as the left which is disappointing.
-
He double checked for issues in the right eye since it still bothers me. All looks fine so hopefully it will improve. I do tend to have issues with that eye.
-
I was given a script for reading glasses. I could get regular glasses, except as prior to my surgery, they would not be able to correct the right eye to match the left eye.

Currently, the temperature outside is - 107-degrees. So glad summer is over and that so many people think this is normal. It's not normal.
It is 98 here, high for us. I remember every year there would be a heat wave after Labor Day. Our classrooms did not have air conditioning back then.
-
On September 11, 1959 is was 103 degrees, better than 107.
-
This was from a chart showing the highest temps of the year.
-
In 1960 it was 92 degrees on September 13th.
-
In 1955 it was 108 on September 1st.

What's funny is that when we put it together, there was supposed to be a floating ladder thing between the two shelves above the door, but my sister didn't want to put that on, thinking that the cats wouldn't like it. ::)
-
Weird Flowers and Madam. Hilarious puppetry.

Well, look what picture she sent me today:
