Well, you've read the notes, the notes were 109 in the shade, and now it is time for you to post until the 109 cows come home.

Topic of the Day:
Living comedians:
I love Kathy Griffin (https://www.youtube.com/@officialkathygriffin)! I saw her live in Seattle! ;D I also really like Gianmarco Soresi (https://www.youtube.com/@GianmarcoSoresi) and Josh Wolf (https://www.youtube.com/@JoshWolfComedy) and Elayne Boosler
Old school:
I really liked Robin Williams, Joan Rivers, Totie Fields (I barely remember her, but I do remember seeing her on TV and laughing), Phyllis Diller, George Carlin
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept rather well, and there were many dreams, none of which I now remember. It's been so cool the past few days that I turned off the AC, and I do sleep better in a cool room.
-
Today is laundry day. I've alerted Jen that I might need help gettng the bedding back onto the bed, but I hope I can do it alone.
-
I hope I can stay awake for tonight's debate.
-
TOD: The ones that keep getting me watching on YouTube these days are Jessica Kirson and John Mulaney.
Favorites of previous eras have included Rita Rudner and Shecky Greene.

Ants on a log. An idea before its time.

But you probably won't find an ant on a log in a TV dinner.

As they don't re-heat well.

Remember how you were supposed to cut away the tin top covering "the dessert"? So that it heated extra well?

Just what, exactly, am I going on about?

Didn't Ethel Merman sing "Call me Miss Birds-Eye. The dinner is frozen" - or at least say it?

Would Gloria Swanson have ever said "Call me Miss Bird's Eye"

The show actually went well last night.....and our production photographer got teary eyed at the end.....so that's a good sign.
Between 5 - 7 p.m., I sold 25 tickets, reserved another 9, and exchanged 6....so we did okay.

DR FREDDIE call time on performance nights is 7 p.m. - for rehearsal it's 6:15 so we can get started at 7 p.m. - so all will be fine.

I loved the ones in my own years of discovery: Bob Newhart, Woody Allen, Shelly Berman, Lenny Bruce, George Carlin, Joan Rivers, Phillys Diller, Robert Klein, Jonathan Winters, Don Rickles, Mort Sahl... Robin Williams a bit later...
Nowadays I don't try to follow them at all. Nathan and Kristi sometimes find a channel that has a bunch of current ones and they all sound alike to me.
I do like... let's see... Wanda Sykes? Sarah Silverman? Who are some other ones? I don't know.
-
Very nice, DR Jrand74. I hope the run goes well.
-
I am so angry: I finished the two loads of laundry in the washers and went to the dryers. One is out and whoever used it last did not bother to report it to the service company. So, I will be stuck another e45 goddamned minutes at least in the basement waiting for my laundry to dry.
And I have more to report when I finish.

Really excellent write-up!
-
It looks like Masterpiece is going to be doing a new Maigret series. I’m sure it’ll be better than the Rowen Atkinson version, which was perfunctory.
-
I saw Eddie Murphy live as he was working on Raw. He was absolutely hilarious, vulgar and unforgettable.
-
Lily Tomlin’s shows were more theater than standup, but she was always brilliant on stage.
-
I always loved Bob Newhart and George Carlin, but I don’t know much of their standup work beyond a few filmed routines. Same with Richard Pryor.
-
An orange and white cat came into the backyard today and wanted to play. Sweetest cat imaginable. Lots of personality.

I am sad I will miss the debate tonight - but I am sure there will be lots of clips to see.

The bed is made, and I did not need to ask Jen for assistance.
While I was sitting in the laundry room, waiting for the washers to finish , a woman I did not recognize came in with a big shopping bag. She walked past me without saying anything, opened a dryer and started putting clothes into it. I told her I was doing laundry and she should get the hell out. She left with her shopping bag of clothes.

Starting the last of the mountain this 18-movie box set. It's The Hitch-hiker. Directed by Ida Lupino. As I recall, this a taut, brutal little movie.

On my way in a bit....and my wish is that I return as full of hope for the show that I was last night.
Two of the young girls came to be last night and finally said....that the dresses that they were given to wear to the "teen" party really didn't fit....and could they look for others in the costume dept.
I said sure.....and they later came down with two very cute and flattering dresses that were much better choices....I was glad to give them permission to switch them out.
I think they felt I would listen to them because last night I brought them both a few pieces of fancy costume jewelry to wear to the "cocktail" party they are a part of.....
Fun young actresses who are both really doing a nice job and take direction very well.
-
I may get a photo of them in their "new" attire.

Back to The Human Condition.

I've started a coffee table book called The Tonys. It's short statements from winners and plenty of interesting photos. It's not very deep. There are no statements about Two Gents winning over Follies or either Guspy or Chicago going empty handed on their original productions. But it is fun.

I finally finished Lempicka all the way through. At the end of a song about us not knowing when our time will come. And yrs, they song "our time." It felt like they were commenting on Merrily We Roll Along.

Started the second to last film of The Human Condition. Only two more hours to go.
-
I watched the whole debate.
I was so very disturbed at how bad Trump looked...how his pompadour had been arranged and colored, and how he was wearing foundational makeup, and didn't look any younger for it although that was the intention (I'm sure).
He was the very definition of overstated bluster, derisive personal attacks, and tired, false and misleading, and ridiculous comments.
I knew Kamala would shine, even against the bluster.
Lots of delusional comments from Trump.
-
We are going to watch the debate, at least part of it.
I listened to it as I was driving up to the first read-through, which went quite well...even though three of the seven actors weren't there. ::)
-
I'll watch it on YouTube when I get home.

I sit at the Vancouver airport awaiting a jaunt to Chicago, from where I was spawned as a babe.

-
I saw no debate but had one on the phone - not political, but just as irritating.
-
From everything I've heard, Kamala did very well.
-
I do hope Trump was fact checked live.
-
I suppose I'll watch some highlights.
-
And I'm sure the highlights will include some low lights.
-
Oh, and one other thing - I do not care for page seven.
-
I really don't.
-
Page eight has made its entrance, which is more than I can say for George.
-
MIA for George.
-
Perhaps he stopped somewhere for a burrito.
-
Or some borscht.
-
Does anyone still eat borscht.
-
I hate to say it, but I used to enjoy a very cold bowl of borscht every now and then.
-
My mother made very good borscht.

I never has made borscht.
-
Is George still driving?
Nope. Got home after a pretty good read-through, then napped inappropriately. ::)

Not anymore. :)
