Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of events that were uneventful, and now it is time for you to post until the uneventful cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: SUBLIME!
-
Must take a Melatonin, shower, and then get to bed.
-
I really must.
-
I'd like to be in bed by one or one-thirty.
-
And I will be.
-
Truly.
-
Scrumptious.

Good morning, all!

I had a very strange night. I slept well from 8:30 to 10:30. Then, during that bathropom break -which was really early; I usually aleep for three hours - Thatch decided he wanted to sleep in my usual spot. So, we had to move about on the bed. Annabelle and Stella remained in their usual bed positions. Thatch was clearly happy with his new place on the bed because he stayed there for the remainder of the night. I, on the other hand, was awake most of the remaining seven hours with short bits of sleep and dreams, none of which I remember.
-
This morning, after kitty cleanup, I'm making chili. The remainder of the day will be taken up with "From Seattle to Los Angeles."
-
DR Laura, I looked over the credits for the tour of Funny Girl. I have met the director, Michal Meyer, years ago, but he was the only name I recognized beyond Melissa Manchester. I do not know her. I'm sorry.
-
Good morning
-
Thanks, Elmore. I was wondering if I should get out my saguaro cactus cookie cutters.
-
Thursday.....I have some shopping to do......but I shall return anon.
-
448 Guests are viewing this board - that could be a record for so early in the morning.
-
Good morning, friends.

And others.

WERE there any leftovers, DR Laura? :)

~~~CONTINUED MULTIPLE MODERN MAJOR MIRACLE VIBES~~~ for the likes o' BK!!!!!!!
-
Yes, more modern major miracle vibes for BK!
-
Happy 10th of October 2024!
-
I am delighted to say that it is sunny, cool and only a little bit breezy here in Johnston SC.
Two weeks ago, we had already had six inches of rain from an approaching storm. Tonight will be the two-week anniversary of the scariest night I have lived through.
-
Thanks to all who commiserated with one of my posts yesterday.
On reflection, I have to say my friend probably is feeling sad and was reaching out to seek some positivity.
He talks a good game of loving his life, his partner and retirement, but I think the truth may be something far different.
-
As I am neither Carl Jung nor Sigmund Freud, I must accept the opinions others offer.
-
For whatever convenient reason I have managed to forget, until this week, how many "things" are coming due in the next couple of months.
To wit, two vehicle registrations, homeowners insurance and property tax. Capping it, of course, will be annual income tax.
-
All my kvetching has brought us to page two.
My work is done for now.
-
Good morning, all.
He may be trying to convince himself that everything is good.
I laid awake for a while watching hurricane coverage last night, then had an okay but on-and-off sleep. This morning I'm having a recurrence of my nose running and sneezing. What a season.
Sometimes, after talking something out, you can see things more clearly.
Thanks for kind thoughts on my neighbor.
-
DR Ron, you can feel for the guy and also not want to be in the cone of his self-absorption. How different you would feel if he asked even a few questions about you and your life!
-
Good morning, all.
-
Today’s word really is sublime.
-
I had a weird night of sleep and dreamt of being back in the USAA campus, only without a badge. I remember my former supervisor calling security on me. But since I was invited, it wasn’t a problem.
-
Very nice attitude, Ron.
-
Any word on the Vixter? Saw a photo of destruction near Orlando.
-
I think we should have show an HHW badge when we sign on.
-
The Cone Of Self Absorption sounds like a Rod Serling Twilight Zone episode.
-
I think we should have show an HHW badge when we sign on.
How about the hundreds of Guests?
-
I like a lot of Clint Eastwood movies....
The Italian trilogy.
My favorite Dirty Harry is Magnum Force.
But my FAVORITE FAVORITE is Where Eagles Dare.
-
The Cone Of Self Absorption sounds like a Rod Serling Twilight Zone episode.
LOL, but well, maybe it's correct that we're most focused on ourselves, our immediate families, and our closest friends.
For most of us, even the places where we work, which seem so crucial and where we might spend most of our waking hours, can change - and then a place which was the focus of our lives does after a while leave our frames of reference.
-
I guess even our immediate blood relatives, who might have been such an important part of our day-to-day lives, can leave our daily frame of reference.
-
I'm really getting remiss about not spreading long posts out over several posts.
-
"Blood Relatives" - that's a sinister sounding phrase for something that should be warm and cuddly. :)
-
Ron, our mutual friend in Tampa has (on Facebook) marked himself safe from the hurricane.
-
Good morning!
-
Wordle: 6/6 (again!)
TOD
the Italian trilogy
Play Misty for Me
I recently bought a copy of Paint Your Wagon ($2), but I would hardly call myself a fan.
-
Watching the rest of We Were Strangers. It's excellent. It's also easy to see why it was banned or withheld from distribution during the Cold War.
-
It has the same great black and white look that Night of the Iguana has.
-
It's time to leave this page.
-
Only two posts.
-
Onward!
-
Three!
-
Congrats to DR JANE on her millstone.
-
How could I forget Play Misty For Me.....
-
And of course there's the one about trying to cast the female lead to play Ms. Gaynor in "The Making of South Pacific" -
called PLAY MITZI FOR ME
-
DR John, congrats on getting Wordle in three. Wow on three letters in the first guess.
-
From DR Vixmom:
This morning I called a few phone screen repair places and was given quotes between $400 -$500
Ouch. So your phone still works, it is "just" the screen that is broken.
-
DR Ron, you can feel for the guy and also not want to be in the cone of his self-absorption. How different you would feel if he asked even a few questions about you and your life!
It is a pet peeve of Keith's when someone never asks a single question and only answers questions about their life.
-
Wordle: 6/6 (again!)
Oh my, good luck tomorrow.
-
Congrats to DR JANE on her millstone.
Thanks. I already forgot about it ;D
My Dad's place reports that all residents are safe with no injuries. The building has power, but phone and internet are still out.
-
TOD: Unforgiven with Eastwood acting, Mystic River without. But there are so many of his movies in both categories that I haven't seen.
-
WERE there any leftovers, DR Laura? :)
Sooo many leftovers. Most people stayed home to watch the debate. Only about 10 out of 50 people showed up.
-
And the next meeting is on Election Night, so I expect the same turnout.
-
My Dad's place reports that all residents are safe with no injuries. The building has power, but phone and internet are still out.
That's (mostly) great news, MichaelG.
-
My Dad's place reports that all residents are safe with no injuries. The building has power, but phone and internet are still out.
Excellent, and it is nice they reported the news.
-
Yay!
-
TOD: Unforgiven with Eastwood acting, Mystic River without. But there are so many of his movies in both categories that I haven't seen.
I think I respect Unforgiven more than anything else. It's a brutal film. But very well made
-
I'm mostly finished with Sinful Davey, John Huston's attempt to capture the magic of Tom Joes. it's a true failure, unfunny from the get-go. I have laughed twice.
But the score by Ken Thorne is a delight, almost as good as what he did for the film of A Funny Thing ...
-
The only odd thing is that this Scottish period movie has no bagpipes in it.
-
Although time, that's a plus.
-
Seven minutes left and the pipes just showed up.
Now, for more important matters.
Let’s move on …
My friends on Siesta Key are safe. A limb barely missed his house, and he has no power. But he’s safe and so is the mutual friend he was sheltering for the storm.
Good news, especially being on Siesta Key. Mainland Sarasota seems to have gotten off lighter than they expected, but I haven't heard much about the barrier islands yet.
TOD
the Italian trilogy
Play Misty for Me
I recently bought a copy of Paint Your Wagon ($2), but I would hardly call myself a fan.
I listened to his songs on the soundtrack recently and was pleasantly surprised to hear his singing. No great singing voice, but it seemed effective enough in the recording. I don't know how it played in the movie though.
-
Gran Torino is fun to watch as a Detroit native. The barbershop used in the movie was on the way between our house and the music store where I took trumpet lessons.
-
If you find it a political post, as someone on castrecl did, then so be it.
Boy, did it generate a lot of discussion, though! Some of it got quite heated.
-
If you find it a political post, as someone on castrecl did, then so be it.
Yes, and I noticed how he complained about a political post (which it wasn't) and then threw out links and opinions which did make the discussion much more overtly political.
Wonderful news.
-
Any word about the Vixter?
No, however, I don't believe she is in an area that was hit hard.
-
Gratuitous post 101!
-
I’m sorry it’s been a fraught 48 hours mixed with good stuff
-
First the good stuff, the Vixfamily is still here with us, they don’t go home until tomorrow morning
-
They have been informed by friends in the area that the flooding did not extend to their homes, although roads were flooded, and power has remained on.
-
The other good news is that I thought to call AT&T and it turned out I had bought insurance on my phone and the screen was covered.
-
Good thing because the screen stopped working so the phone was unusable
-
So for a $29 co-pay the phone was fixed
-
I dropped it off at lunchtime and got it back last night
-
Last night the Vuxfamiky 3, Vixdad , my mom and I went out to the local diner for dinner and a fine time was had
-
This morning the same group ( minus my mom) went to the ihop for breakfast
-
Then we stopped at the Costco gas station where I used my Costco card so the kids coukd fill up their tank
-
Then we went to a pumpkin farm where we enjoyed ourselves
-
We came home and around 530 I realized I didn’t have my wallet
-
The last time I saw. It was at the gas station
-
Tried calling the farm but they closed at 5
-
I couldn’t find a phone number for the gas station so we drove there
-
They didn’t have my wallet
-
Nor, for reasons unknown, do they have a phone
-
Then we drove over to the farm hoping to find a security guard, but no such luck
-
They don’t open until 1130 tomorrow
-
So I have been calling and freezing my credit cards and debit card
-
My license and subway pass are in there as well
-
What a pain
-
The other good news is that I thought to call AT&T and it turned out I had bought insurance on my phone and the screen was covered.
So does this mean the pressure to win the lottery is off?
-
Uh oh!
-
What a pain
:(
Sorry you're going through that.
-
My license and subway pass are in there as well
Vibes hoping that at least your license will be found.
-
First the good stuff, the Vixfamily is still here with us, they don’t go home until tomorrow morning
That was a wise decision. Did did they originally plan to drive home?
DR Vixmom, vibes some kind person returns your wallet.
-
DR vixmom, so glad for the various pieces of good news, but so very sorry about your missing wallet.
-
A pain, indeed.
-
DR Rodzinski: I have questions. :)
-
Hmmm.
-
DR Rodzinski: I have questions. :)
Ketchup is a vegetable, according to the US courts. So could these be healthy cookies?
'night
-
Good night, Jane
They always planned to stay a week, luckily it just coincided with being out of town for the storm.
They are driving
-
Well the wallet has been found, here in the house in the pocket of my hoodie which I checked at least three times
-
So now I unfroze all the cards
-
Ai yi yi
-
That is great news, DR vixmom.
-
So all in all, a very good day for you.
-
With just a little anxiousness.
Good night, friends.
Yay!
-
I do not have covid.
-
I was worried because my taste buds seem wonky.
-
I had some chocolate and it had a fishy aftertaste.
-
In case you didn't know, chocolate should not taste like anchovies.
DR Ron, you can feel for the guy and also not want to be in the cone of his self-absorption. How different you would feel if he asked even a few questions about you and your life!
True enough.
-
Good night, all.
-
Great news about the Vixfamily.
-
A post for post-erity.
-
Guess we worked overtime yesterday and posts are hard to come by today.
-
Page six?
-
Not very sporting.
-
No George, nor his jam.
-
Probably out there somewhere eating a burrito.
-
He sure as HELL isn't here.
-
We've looked everywhere.
-
We've looked hither.
-
DR Ron, you can feel for the guy and also not want to be in the cone of his self-absorption. How different you would feel if he asked even a few questions about you and your life!
It is a pet peeve of Keith's when someone never asks a single question and only answers questions about their life.
I can be like that. ::)
-
We've looked thither.
-
We've looked yon.
-
And he's gone, girl, gone.
-
Oh, look who arrived after I looked yon.
-
No George, nor his jam.
My computer is not coming out of sleep mode! :o
-
Better late than never.
-
Or never better than late.
-
I think I'll need to manually restart it, so that'll take a few minutes.
-
We are NOT going to regress back to page six.
-
Ah, finally, the page that shall not be named.
-
Although it could be blamed.
-
And shamed.
-
And defamed.
-
And gamed.
-
Tonight, we ran the whole show and worked a couple of scenes...and finally ran the fight call.
-
And maimed.
-
Gone with the Wind.
-
For the last couple of days, both the director and I kept forgetting to run it.
-
That theme is currently playing, performed by George Greeley.
-
As a concerto.
-
I'll take a Melatonin soon, then a hot shower, then bed.
-
But last night, I wrote myself a note on big letters to remind myself and that worked.
-
Had some soup and potato salad for my evening snack.
-
I do NOT care for the page that shall not be named.
-
I would like to get off it, but I fear that will not happen.
-
Not at this pace.
-
That said...
-
New notes are up.
-
I'll take a Melatonin soon, then a hot shower, then bed.
My friend Shelly has to take it about five hours before her bedtime because that's how long it takes for it to kick in for her. :-\
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
We're almost to the next page!
-
Well, maybe we can squeeze by.
-
I think we can make it.
-
So...
-
If there's no gaslighting going on.
-
See?
-
PAGE EIGHT DANCE!! :D
-
Page eight has made its entrance.
-
Whew!
