Well, you've read the notes, the notes were so far yet so good, and now it is time for you to post until the so far, so good cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: RESPLENDENT!
-
Notes pondered. Squandered.
-
Congratulations, singdaw, on your fabulous new posting millstone!
-
Good morning, all!
-
BK, I was thinking yesterday was your eye procedure! I'm happy your physical went well, and I'm even happier that your drive home was not disastrous for you or anyone else on the road.
-
I think I slept well. I have no memory of waking up at any point for a bathroom break, so that's a very positive first in a very lopnmg time.
-
With all of Trump's idiotic tariff fixation, you'd like to hope there's someone in MAGA Moron Land who could explain to him he's only hurting American consumers. There's going to be a lot of buyers' remorse from the nitwitsa who voted for this felon.
-
I need work. Seriously, I need a job.
I am very grateful for the Gypsy work, although the comments on the Musical Theatre Orchestration vanity page is already in an uproar. I'm grateful to BK for at least offering some sense.
Still, I need a job. I cannot wait around for Moonshine & Mistletoe, the balle, or the book to start generating income, if any, and no matter how much I plead, Annabelle, Thatch, and Stella refuse to get jobs.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
And others.
-
I certainly did not know about chili crisp before today.
-
But now I do.
-
Thanks, DR George!
-
Last work day before an extended break.
-
Good morning.
-
.
-
If you tie one one, does a Bavarian cream pie fight ensue?
-
It probably must do.
-
BK, be sure to go to your pharmacy and get caught up on immunizations. They have approved a few new ones for seniors. They might all be banned soon.
-
Glad your physical went so well, BK.
-
And that you arrived home safely.
-
~~~CONTINUED MEDICAL VIBES~~~
-
BK, be sure to go to your pharmacy and get caught up on immunizations. They have approved a few new ones for seniors. They might all be banned soon.
I can't get the latest COVID booster until January, but I've scheduled it before Jan 20, just in case.
The thought of BK and DR Jeanne dining together for Thanksgiving makes me happy.
The tables are turned. :)
There's an updated pneumonia shot (Prevnar 20), Shingrex, RSV. And always good to keep up with the tetanus/whooping cough/diphtheria shot every 10 years.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Laura, there’s no message under your post. Seems odd and incomplete. Like a burrito without watermelon. Or gravy sans cashews.
-
Onward!
Excellent!
There you go, John G.
This inspired me to run to the CVS site. I'm scheduled for Covid, Hepatitus B, and Shingles vaccines on Dec. 19. The CVS is five blocks from m,y apartment.
-
There you go, John G.
Thank you. I think.
-
I can't believe I left James Joyce's The Dead, story and movie, off my ghost story list.
Good morning, all.
-
A couple of blessed days off.
And a turkey dinner in there someplace.
I'll take it.
-
There you go, John G.
Thank you. I think.
Is that anything like "Wherever you are, there you are"
-
I got my flu shot, but I still need the latest covid booster AND the shingles vaccine AND the RSV which my doctor advised me to go ahead and get.
-
Chili crisp sounds interesting.
-
I thought Tie One On Day was yesterday so I'll have to celebrate again today.
-
A big famale what?
Tooth cap and finding a dentist vibes for MR BK.
It sounds as if the physical went well with good results. It is very nice that test results are available online to see. And if some numbers can't be understood, there is always GOOGLE....for the most part.
-
Important envelope vibes for MR BK.
-
DR CHAS SMITH enjoy your time away from the theeder.
-
Wednesday morning greetings! We have a quiet holiday because I have to check every day this week and next to see if I need to report for jury duty. So far I’ve dodged 3 bullets and it’s probably safe to assume that I won’t be needed tomorrow or Friday.
-
Jrand, I can definitely imagine the guy in your current avatar doing the ride-the-other-car's-bumper thing mentioned in last night's posts!
-
My sister Myrna tells me that my genius niece is learning to play the piano.
I don't think she is taking lessons, she is playing by ear.
I just remembered that I had a Yamaha PS-130 keyboard....so I think I will offer it to her for her niece (my great niece)....unless they have a piano, which I am pretty sure they don't.
The HepB really made my arm hurt; the shingles shot will make you feel crummy. Plan on staying home and doing nothing the next day or two. Pamper yourself.
Re BK's checkup:
My three words two weeks ago were village, kitchen, baby. But when I was asked to draw the clock, I had the feeling they'd asked me to draw the same time of day the prior year. And do you want to know what it was both times?
11:10.
I kid you not.
Two years in a row for me, and then for BK on the opposite coast? What's with 11:10, anyway? The only difference is that it sounds like they gave BK a picture and he had to fill in the numbers and the hands. Both of my times, I had to draw the clock face and everything on a piece of scrap paper.
I'll keep the PSS-280 for myself.
When I opened up the box, I found the receipt from Service Merchandise dated 9/22/1989 for a cost of $108.88.
"Your name will be called at our Merchandise Pick Up Counter before 07:18 p.m."
-
One thing that always used to annoy me at certain department stores is that merchandise could only be rung up in its own department.
You couldn't walk around the store and find things and then pay for everything all at once at one register.
ANNOYING.
-
I don't think that's a thing anymore, although it might be.
-
It is 44 degrees here headed for 46 degrees with some rain after 3 p.m.
In ALL departments.
-
If Yamaha PS-130 is in the series I'm thinking of, those are nice pianos.
I like them better than my Casio Privia - which is the best in the line they had at the time - and even with the additional bells and whistles mine has, I decided those Yamahas have a better touch and are a better sounding piano.
But they all get the job done. I'm playing the Privia in Wonderettes, rather than lug in the Kurzweil.
-
I hear you can walk to Privias in the rain and never wet your feet.
-
If you have to lug it, size is a consideration.
Here is my PS-280.....the 130 is the same only smaller, no headphone jack, and a few less voice choices. The pic is from the inner web, mine doesn't have to note notes on it - I rarely play it in the driveway.
Not even sure if Yamaha makes these portables anymore.....
BK's drive was harrowing to read about. I've had far too many of such experiences, and know it all too well. I think I see the road BK turned on and had to endure until it reconnected with Nichols Canyon near Mulholland. And in browsing the maps and satellite images, I'm now amazed after all of these years to renew my acquaintance with how long (from north to south) those canyons are. Especially, say, Beverly Glen and Coldwater which are farther west where the mountain range is wider.
Anyhoo, my night driving in the year or so before my cataract surgeries was rather like that, and I, too, was keeping to the roads I knew best, just waiting it out till the surgeries could happen. Man, I wouldn't return to that for anything.
-
DR Jrand74, should we be seeing pictures or links in those posts? I don't see anything...
-
Oh, my mistake. I was remembering wrong. The Yamahas I was comparing with the Casio were in the P series, not the PS. I know I played a P-125 for one show, and it is indeed a fine digital piano.
-
But most everything Yamaha makes is more reliable than the competition, in various other instruments and equipment as well.
-
LOL DR FREDDIE yes he was the one.
My niece is 8 years old.
-
Should be a picture DR CHAS SMITH.....but click if it's a link and you'll go to an EBAY listing.
The PSS series was not a FULL keyboard......or I guess I should say IS NOT.....
Ah, okay, I see the link if I hit "Quote" on that reply, but Safari isn't displaying it at all on normal view. Hmm...
MR BK I think that DR LAURA's advice about shots and vaccines is very wise
Our health future looks bleak right now...and even more precarious in the near future.
I would never consider it a ghost story, and I love it and the film version.
Thanks for the link DR ELMORE.
There was a story in Indy yesterday that said a school secretary had been fired and that the principal was under fire for being a bully.
One senior at the high school was talking about the popular secretary and was quoted as saying: "Her and her husband are great....."
And all I could think of is: "Her is?"
DR Rodzinski, yay on the headlights!
-
Bruce I'm glad you made it home from your scary drive.
It is very rare that my appointments are not in the mornings.
-
Bruce, did you eat the leftover mac & cheese yet? Maybe your top loose porcelain cap is in there.
Good afternoon
-
I woke up at 3 for no apparent reason
-
Laid in bed until trying to will myself into unconsciousness
-
Picked my ipad and looked at old photographs until after 5
-
AM
-
In the morning time
-
Finally tried to enter the land of nod again
-
Managed it at some point but was up again by 630
-
Gave up and showered dressed and went to the BJs
-
And waited for them to open at 8
-
Then I went in and bought a pumpkin pie, an apple pie and a blueberry crumb pie
-
I also ran into a former co-worker, a throughly unpleasant woman who thrived on making my life as hellush as possible
-
She greeted me like we were long lost friends
-
Not lost long enough methinks
-
But I was civil, explained I needed to go to work and vamoosed
I can't believe I left James Joyce's The Dead, story and movie, off my ghost story list.
I would never consider it a ghost story, and I love it and the film version.
But they are already ghosts in the narrator’s eye and soon to be ghosts in the present. I was reminded of that in reading s wonder review of Irish Rep’s immersive The Dead, 1904.
Here was the quote: “We are living in a skeptical and a thought-tormented age,” Gabriel (or is it James Joyce?) tells us. “One by one we are all becoming shades. Better pass boldly into that other world, in the full glory of some passion, than fade and wither dismally with age.”
I have surprisingly fond memories of Service Merchandise in the mid-late 1980s.
I don't think I ever bought a lot there, but definitely a few things, and there was just something enjoyable about the process and the stores themselves. I guess the merchandise was appealingly displayed.
It was part of that world we used to know. Ya know?
While I was out running errands this afternoon, I had plans to pick up something entirely different to eat, which never worked out, so I had something I haven't had in a while.
At McDonald's:
The double (yes, double) quarter pounder with cheese, with extra onions on the burger, large fries, and large Coke. (I always ask for extra onions because, for one thing, it's just better with them, and the burger comes out fresher when they have to do something special with it.) I went through the drive-thru, parked, and ate it all hot and fresh in the car. A welcome respite. And a shameful indulgence. And thoroughly delicious.
Bruce, Keith can relate and really feels for you needing an MRI of your head. He also doesn't think there is much benefit to an open MRI when your face will need to go in to the machine. You lose clarity with an open MRI and this is your eye. You need the best image possible.
If it were him, he would take drugs (lorazepam) to get through a closed MRI.
-
Bruce do you know if the MRI needed requires a contrast dye? You want to know this before you have the MRI.
-
I'm up, I'm up - almost eight hours of sleep.
-
But the minutes I got up I had a call with a denist recommendation close to here, so I got up, got dressed, and went over there for a 12:30 appointment. Insurance will only cover some of it, which is too bad, but better than nothing. After perusing their In Network DDS' and looking at feedback, I was not comfortable with any of them. This guy was really good. He said because the two crowns were loose for so long, my gums there were horrifying and a huge amount of tartar sauce had built up.
-
So, he numbed me up but good (still numb), got that nasty tartar off that entire area, re-cemented the bottom crown, and put in a temporary top crown. Then I go back in two weeks and get the permanent and then after that he'll do a really serious cleaning, then we can discuss the bottom center tooth that's now crooked and what to do.
-
So much novocaine but he was very good about it. I can't even really drink well at the moment as the entire left side is completely numb.
-
He still suggested not chewing much on the left side until the permanent is in.
-
I'm starving, but can't eat yet.
-
Went to the mail place and picked up the first Christmas card of the holiday season.
-
I'm going to drive to Gelson's shortly and see if they have any soup I like (hoping for the creamy tomato) - I'll get that and then something easy to chew - not sure what that would be, though.
Glad you enjoyed it, ChasSmith. The double QP is just too much for me. I do like most of their other double burgers with the small patties, though.
Yes DR GEORGE & DR JANE I think paying only in the department has gone the way of the dodo bird.
My experience happened in a store that was closing and when I was told the circumstances - I just put my armload of items on the counter and walked off. And I am sure that made a clerk's bad day even worse.
Congrats to MR BK on the successful dentist visit.
After I read last week about DR ELMORE reading the book by Grover Dale, I ordered it from Amazon.
It arrived today and I spend a nice 5 hours or so reading it.
Lots of gaps, but a nice look at the inside of some terrific shows.....and folks.
-
I'm enjoying the series TRACKER, even though every now and then, meaningful mentions by the starring character of his childhood feel awkwardly shoehorned in. The show stars Justin Hartley from THIS IS US.
-
It does look to me like Justin Hartley may have done quite a bit of working out and muscling up between Season 1 and Season 2 - or maybe they're just dressing him to show that off more in season 2.
There is at least the Pittsburgh Irish & Classical Theatre cast recording (https://castalbums.org/recordings/James-Joyces-The-Dead-/4954), so there's a recording of the show but that's not the Broadway cast. :-\
DR Freddie, last night we watched episode 6 of season 2 and thought it was the best episode of the show.
'night
-
DR Freddie, last night we watched episode 6 of season 2 and thought it was the best episode of the show.
Great to hear! Looking forward to it. I think we just watched episode 4 of season 2.
-
Good night, Jane
-
Page Seven!
-
Good evening.
-
Jane, I have never made a roll cake. Somehow, I think it would turn out to be a disaster.
-
Maybe I should attempt one at Christmas. It will probably turn out to be one of those Expectations/Reality things.
-
I'll keep the PSS-280 for myself.
When I opened up the box, I found the receipt from Service Merchandise dated 9/22/1989 for a cost of $108.88.
"Your name will be called at our Merchandise Pick Up Counter before 07:18 p.m."
Service Merchandise, now there’s a name from olden times.
I bought all my Corningware from Service Merchandise
-
I still have it all
-
Good evening, folks.
-
I sang at a Thanksgiving church service tonight. Not as a soloist; just part of the choir.
-
The musical selections were quite trashy, to be honest.
-
And they had promised pie afterward during the fellowship time, but I guess someone didn't get the memo.
-
There was no pie.
-
I though, "If DR Laura had been in charge, there would have been pie."
-
:)
-
Great news that you were able to get into a good dentist so quickly, BK.
-
One thing that always used to annoy me at certain department stores is that merchandise could only be rung up in its own department.
You couldn't walk around the store and find things and then pay for everything all at once at one register.
ANNOYING.
I've never been to a store that worked like that. :o
Sears, JC Penney’s, A&S, Macy’s, Gertz, Gimbals, Sterns, Saks, all the department stores around here in fact were set up that way
The Targets and Walmarts here have separate checkouts for electronics and for gardening
-
Maybe it’s a regional thing
-
The musical selections were quite trashy, to be honest.
:) Can you give any examples?
-
Nothing you would know. Just trashy choir anthems that were probably written in the 70s that were trite and boring.
-
Not worth the effort of preparing them, at any rate.
-
But the choir did pretty well.
-
And mercifully, the sermon was quite short.
-
So there's that.
-
Nothing you would know. Just trashy choir anthems that were probably written in the 70s that were trite and boring.
Any Spirit in the Sky type stuff?
-
I'm not sure what that is, but I don't think so.
-
.
-
Is "Spirit in the Sky" like "Castle on a Cloud"? :)
-
Page seven is waning.
My.... that's.... Something.
-
PAGE EIGHT!
-
DR Freddie - I would say our songs didn't have as strong a beat as that.
-
Nor the enticing visuals.
-
Good night, friends.
-
And others.
-
DR Freddie - I would say our songs didn't have as strong a beat as that.
From wikipedia:
"Spirit in the Sky" is a song by American singer-songwriter Norman Greenbaum, originally written and recorded by Greenbaum and released in late 1969 from his album Spirit in the Sky. The single became a gold record in the United States, selling two million copies from 1969 to 1970, and reached No. 3 on the US Billboard Hot 100 where it lasted for 15 weeks in the Top 100.
-
I never miss a Norman Greenbaum song about Jesus!
-
My view of Hudson Yards during my recent trip
-
I have returned from an excellent Thanksgiving Eve dinner with friends.
-
“Marcy” is a song I like by Norman Greenbaum.
-
Sorry the pie was a lie, singdaw.
-
We went to an Italian restaurant. We started off with shrimp in a lemon butter sauce and fried calamari. I had lamb chops with mashed potatoes. Dessert was lemon blueberry pie with a topping that was like a heavy meringue mixed with cheesecake. I didn’t eat the topping.
-
There was no pie.
How rude! >:(
-
Good night, all.
-
Page eight.
-
Very nice.
-
But it's not over yet.
-
I'm STILL feeling a little numbness. He must have used an entire vat of novocaine.
-
My blood results came back. Doctor hasn't viewed them yet.
-
From what I can tell, 90% of me is fine and dandy. The 10%, after researching each thing, is all because of the fifty pounds I put on that I cannot seem to take off. My glucose level is a little higher than it should be.
-
And all the few other things all stem from that and have the exact same comments.
-
Which are - pre-diabetes. Now, no one in my immediate family has ever had diabetes. They say it may never happen, but to bring the glucose levels down, I must get a little exercise every day and eat healthier and less red meat. I can do that. I'm perfectly happy with salads with chicken or shrimp or whatever, fish, I always eat vegetables if they're on the plate. And certainly knock it off with the late-night eating.
-
I can do that.
-
And I WILL do that.
-
Damn them, damn them all to hell.
-
I gather all this is very common if you're packing extra weight.
-
That is THE most common thing with pre-diabetes. So, change of lifestyle. I'll do omelets, I'll do salads, I'll do faux chicken stroganoff, I'll try to do less pasta and potatoes and bread, if I do early evening snack, I'll try to do shrimp cocktail shrimp, I'll try to stay under 1200 calories, and I'll start walking more. That should all help with weight loss and lowering glucose level.
-
I'm actually barely over.
-
I think page nine may be lurking in the wings.
-
Waiting to make an entrance.
-
See?
-
Enter page nine.
-
Guess I'll write some damn notes.
-
Notes are written.
-
Nobody here but us chickens.
-
Tomorrow it won't be chickens, it'll be turkeys.
-
It's almost turkey lurkey time.
-
Tom turkey ran away but he just came home. Whew!
-
He's really home to stay never more to roam.
-
And that's a good thing.
-
Nothing worse than a roaming turkey, especially when you're trying to eat it.
-
And remember, hope is the thing with feathers.
-
And feathers is the thing with hope.
-
Be back shortly.
-
Perhaps George will grace us with his late-night presence with tales of sugar plum fairies and burritos.
-
I'm STILL feeling a little numbness. He must have used an entire vat of novocaine.
Better than not enough! ::)
-
Tonight, I made the 1914 Texas Pecan Pie for tomorrow's Thanksgiving feast at my sister's!
-
Here's the pie:
-
And here's a close-up:
-
The filling seeped out of the pie shell, but at least nothing overflowed out of the pan.
-
George has arrived early.
-
I do hope he's Fed Exing that pie to everyone.
-
Even though I followed a recipe, this totally was an experiment...I can only hope that it tastes as good as it looks.
-
I do hope he's Fed Exing that pie to everyone.
Sure! Just $100 each! ;D
-
Did some leg exercises.
-
Welcome, 255 GUESTS!
-
I might have some humble pie.
-
Or some pie in the sky.
-
And not a word about a burrito.
-
A burrito pie?
-
Calling page ten.
-
Page ten has made its entrance.
-
Page ten is the berries.
-
The berries is the rhubarb.
-
The rhubarb strangled the rutabaga, and rued the day.
-
A burrito pie?
Someone posted a video short of a pizza-topped pizza! They made a few little pizzas and then cut them into small pizza shapes, then made a big pizza with sauce and cheese, and used the small pizza pieces as the topping for the big pizza! It actually looked really good!
-
It's so nice not to have the crowns rattling around and falling out.
-
A crowning achievement.
-
And here it is!
The farmer and the dell.
-
The farmer and the iMac.
-
The new Mac mini or the new iMac?
-
Tough decision.
-
And here's an article about Vinnie's Pizzaria:
Get a Slice of Vinnie's Internet-Famous Pizza-Topped Pizza in Williamsburg Today (https://ny.eater.com/2015/5/29/8687941/vinnies-pizzeria-pizza-on-pizza-slice)
It's probably even more mind-melting in person.
-
But one I must make this coming month because it's becoming too dangerous with this wonderful but elderly computer.
-
Maybe the mini in my quest to be the skinny.
-
The farmer and the iMac.
I've never owned a Mac Computer. Windows all the way.
-
Minestrone is supposed to help lose weight - never knew that. I may start doing a bowl of that every now and then. Jeanne told me.
-
Unfortunately, I had a Dell and Windows and after the fourth disaster, I literally stomped it to death and switched to a Mac and have never looked back or gotten off the Mac track.
-
And I don't care how knows it.
-
I'll try to be in bed by one.
-
I'm pretty zonked and zoned from the teeth thing.
-
Zonked and Zoned - that's the title of my next novel.
-
And speaking of burritos, Sam the Cooking Guy just posted this video earlier today:
THE BEST POSSIBLE THING YOU CAN DO WITH YOUR THANKSGIVING LEFTOVERS (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=i4Mq8k3XrWM)
We all know the wonders of a Thanksgiving leftovers turkey sandwich...but what about a Thanksgiving leftovers burrito?? And with a moistmaker?? 🤯
Benny Goodman is playing Malcolm Arnold's clarinet concerto.
‘Ello, gents.
-
Pie for all your HHW friends is such a sweet gesture, George.
