Well, you've read the notes, the notes had meat to them and didn't loaf, and now it is time for you to post until the loafing cows come home.

And the word of the day is: SERENADE!

Welcome, 250 GUESTS!

Mere GUESTS observing the passing parade.
-
Why not?

Should I or should I not have a few grapes?
-
I'm thinking yes.

I'm not going to bed until two.

And I don't care who knows it.

Started watching A Complete Unknown, which I have to watch on the computer, unfortunately, because Disney is just about the only company that doesn't have an app so you can watch on a TV.
-
I'm fifteen minutes in, but the reast will have to wait until later.
-
I'd like to see a movie that's under two hours one of these days.
-
That's one of the reasons why I enjoyed the Simenon Mysteries films so much - ninety minutes.

Good morning, all.
-
Today is the second day of the 7:30 am rehearsals - the first of which, I'm sure you'll all remember, was at 10:30 instead, due to snow delays.
So here I am, up and showered and almost ready to leave.
-
In the meantime, last night DR Ginny said:
Extended birthday wishes to DR ChasSmith!
And I thank you, DR Ginny!
-
And DR KevinH said:
Happy Belated Birthday to DR ChasSmith!
Thank you, DR KevinH!
-
And DR vixmom said:
A very Happy Birthday wishes for our cherished Chas from Lawn Guyland
Thank you so much, DR vixmom!

And now it's time for me to feed the cat an early breakfast and get my ASS out of here.
-
Good morning, all!

I Slept well. Last night Stella stayed all night with me. Thatch has begun climbing into my bed around 3:00. As soon as Annabelle showed up, I thought, the alarm will ring any minute, and sure enough as soon as she settled beside me, the alarm rang.
-
I need to call Access-a-Ride and schedule my vaccine trip to a CVS Drug Store today.
-
Good morning.
-
I'm glad you are getting your vaccinations now, Elmore, while you can.

I think today I will continue my iTunes investigation. I was very unhappy aboutr the email SNAFU, which is now fine. but I hate the fact that CDs hjave disappeared, and 2- and 3-CD sets are missing sections. The EMI Show Boat, conducted by John McGlinn, is missing the 3rd CD, and I'm not even sure the first two CDs are complete or not. I spent yesterday redoing BK's Lost in Bostons, Unsung Musicals, Peter Pan and Little by Little, along with my five CDs for New World Records, and The New Yorkers and A Tale of Cinderella.
Today, I'll check out the BK CDs of solo singers.
-
Good morning.
Hello, DR Laura! You are up early.

Has anybody seen this series called "Omeleto" on Youtube? Short films. Like this one.

Since the original Nosferatu was an unauthorized copyright violation of Dracula, and certain;ly better than the Hamilton Deane play and movie with Bela Lugosi, I've never figured the reason for the remakes. Why not just do a good version of Dracula, which still remains one of the most terrifying books I've ever read. The best version I've seen is the 1970s BBC version woithj Louis Jourdan as the Count.

Back from the school, after some hellish traffic getting there. We must now officially be in Holiday HELL, traffic-wise. Words to the wise.
-
DR Elmore's iTunes HELL sounds awful, and these problems don't even make sense from the get-go.
Being a late Apple adopter, I never learned anything about iTunes except that I used to hear people complain about it, even back when it was all the rage.
But this situation with things - and SECTIONS of things - disappearing is, in a word, outrageous.
-
I'm saying it now.
Say it with maple syrup, some wise person must have said.
-
Or was it serve it with maple syrup?

The dialogue and even the action in the Deane play (and the Universal film) are so stilted, it's ridiculous. Not to put down a universally (see what I did there?) beloved classic film, but some stretches of it can be a chore.
I've never seen that BBC version. Must seek it out.
I can appreciate the original Nosferatu, but I really like Herzog's remake. I also liked the somewhat crazy Shadow of the Vampire with Malkovich and Dafoe, but I'm long overdue for another look at that to see what I think now.

iTunes at some point didn’t really want you having your own non-iTunes-purchased music, so their support for that was half-assed and allowed for things like disappearing albums.

Slept poorly. Had a weird dream in which I was outside a post office and somehow managed to open an old-fashioned stamp machine with a ton of money in it. I went in to the post office and was second in line. Then they started using numbers to call customers. None of us had numbers, so we all went looking for them. When the ticket machine was found, an obnoxious girl ran over to grab a number. I was very rude to her and them immediately apologized, but when I finally got to my turn, the post office clerk said I should have alerted them immediately. Anyway, The person I asked to safeguard the machine later told me they had stolen from it and tried to give me some of the money. I refused.
-
Onward!

In my dream last night, some clod was stopped in their car and blocking the way. So I honked. They turned around and yelled, "What the hell are you doing?," and so I gave them the finger. And then they started to get our of their car. And then I woke up.
-
I would never dream of doing this in real life these days.
-
They'd probably pull out a gun and shoot me.

Well.....I went to the vision place because I have some $$ on my Humana card.
I was going to get some new glasses.
Both clerks were helping others, so I walked around and found a pair I liked.
Half an hour later, someone finally came over to help me. I gave her my information. I told her I didn't want an exam, I just had one last year. She looked me up on the system and told me that I would have to get an exam because my prescription had expired in October.
I told her......well.....I just said never mind and walked away. But that was not what I was thinking.
-
But that was not what I was thinking.
You could have given her the finger like I did to that driver in my dream. :)

I am trying to make some Christmas here. About half the lights on the pre-lit tree are out.

From DR Ginny:
Monday evening greetings! Today I made a batch of caramel corn for holiday gifting (and our enjoyment). Because I have a cold I wore a mask and because I’m still shedding some hair I wore a (new) disposable shower cap. I looked like I was about to perform surgery.
LOL. You really were motivated to safely make you holiday caramel corn. I know those lucky to receive gifts will appreciate it.
-
DR singdaw - in my mind I did just that.
I also left my two frames on the desk for her to put back.....sad....she lost a commission and I didn't get my glasses.
-
TOD:
I really enjoyed working on OKLAHOMA! in June. It turned out well and I hadn't done the show since 2001 - so it was great to revisit it.
HOWEVER I must say that my favorite theatrical event in 2024 was the reading of my play THREE [now FOUR] ARRESTS OF FRANCES FARMER at the Phoenix Theatre Cultural Center in Indy.
Probably dead in the water now....but lots of fun....and quite an ego boost for an old man who does shows in a barn during the summer.

TOD: the only live show I saw was the touring Hairspray, featuring my old buddy Greg as Edna Turnblad. ‘Twas a joy.
-
I did not see a singlive theatre this year. I know what I wish I'd seen:
Merrily We Roll Along
Here We Are
King Lear (Kenneth Branagh)
Ragtime (City Center Gala)
Dear World, Once Upon a Mattress & Titanic (City Center Encores!)
-
Favorite theater this year:
The Tempest at Kentucky Shakespeare Festival
King Lear with Kenneth Branagh
The Long Christmas Dinner
Lifespan of a Fact
Cruzar la Cara de la Luna at Opera San Antonio

Usually presciptions are good for a couple of years. Did you double check when you had your eye exam?
-
DR singdaw - in my mind I did just that.
I also left my two frames on the desk for her to put back.....sad....she lost a commission and I didn't get my glasses.
I gather you did not have her write down the information in case you could go back for them.
-
I couldn't argue with a computer system....I must have been wrong.
Yes, I thought eyeglass prescriptions were good for more than one year.....and my guess is that they are - every place else.
-
LOL no DR JANE I did not.
-

The doctor writes it on the prescription. I suggest calling the office and finding out if it can be extended. If it isn't good for two years I suggest asking why.
-
DR Jrand, when is your next eye appointment? I go every year.
-
My last eyeglass prescription was from the My Eye Doctor chain, and it had a one-year expiration on it.
I'd never paid attention to them at any time in the past, and I only noticed that one when I decided to order a cheap pair online to get me through till my cataract surgeries. Got 'em just in time. Although I don't think I had to show them the actual prescription, I just copied everything into the online forms.
Anyhoo, yes, they sometimes (or often) have expiration dates.
-
I think they are more relaxed when you order online.
-
Onward!

Four!

Up from a nap.

I just spent the last hour rebuilding the three CDs of Babes in Toyland. About 2/3 was there, but the missing third was a bitch to locate all thew pieces.
-
DR JohnG, last night I watched Hundred of Beavers. What drugs were they on? I did laugh a lot, but by the end I just wanted it over.
-
DR JANE I don't plan on having ANY more contact with the place.....of any kind.
-
I'm up, I'm up - eight and a half hours of sleep.
-
I was up at eleven.
-
And this certainly isn't MY idea of a damn ME day.
-
Awoke to a text from the insurance company saying the cost of the repairs after they did the teardown on the car was too much compared to the valuation of the car. I was - upset.
-
And I have spent the last three HOURS dealing with it.
-
DR JANE I don't plan on having ANY more contact with the place.....of any kind.
Is that where you also had your eyes checked?
-
Awoke to a text from the insurance company saying the cost of the repairs after they did the teardown on the car was too much compared to the valuation of the car. I was - upset.
I'm sorry. I thought they had approved it before you left your car.
-
What they're willing to pay me isn't unreasonable, and I actually found a car I'd be happy with - similar mileage, a year younger than mine, a four door instead of two-door, and more goodies that mine didn't have. Photos show the car to be in very good condition, I can keep my license plates if I want to, but don't know how that works exactly, but with tax and all the little fees, I have to put out a little cash on top of what they're paying. I have no choice in that, as every other car that's equivalent to mine, albeit with MUCH lower mileage, is many thousands more.
-
Dealing with the company who has the car, because they're in Buena Park. He said he'd figure out how to get the car here for me to test drive, so that's good.
-
So, I've released the car to the insurance company, and they'll pick it up and issue the first of two payments to my account. Then when they receive the title, which will be on Friday, they do the second half.
-

Whew! So glad this seems to be working out OK!
-
Oh, wow. I'm glad the insurance thing is working out. But what a shame to have to total the car!
Getting a new car is always fun. But not this way.
-
Have a mechanic you trust inspect it first. Don't ever believe what the salesman tells you.

Bruce, vibes you find a car you are very happy with.
-
DR JohnG, last night I watched Hundred of Beavers. What drugs were they on? I did laugh a lot, but by the end I just wanted it over.
I don’t know the drugs, but I would have cut 10 minutes. As funny as much of it was, I too was glad when it was over.
-
Have a mechanic you trust inspect it first. Don't ever believe what the salesman tells you.
True, if you have one.
-
A friend who used to sell used cars said he always recommended taking out an extended warranty as you never know. The car could look great and a day later something goes wrong.
-
Sounds like an insurance company these days, BK. They declare too many cars totaled.
-
It’s 78 degrees outside. Odd for December.
-
Roses are blooming in other people’s yards. Not mine.

But my bougainvillea and plumbago are blooming nicely.

Tomorrow’s high is supposed to be only 69.

Five!

I wonder if it has anything to do with the difficulty and cost of getting parts.
-
Bruce, now I am very curious how bad your car looks. Do you have a photo?
-
It’s 78 degrees outside. Odd for December.
It sounds heavenly to me.
-
While our temperature is 50 degrees, it is wet, windy, and feels closer to 40 degrees.
-
But my bougainvillea and plumbago are blooming nicely.
Lovely.
-
Tomorrow’s high is supposed to be only 69.
I would be very happy with that.
-

That’s what they say.
-
I think I nuked the photos - but is was bad in terms of the damage having completely gone through the metal of the side panel. Quite a long gash it was, too.
-
From the description I didn't imagine the car would be totaled, plus it seemed as if it drove ok.
-
DR JANE yes that's where I got my spectacles last year.
-
Car vibes for MR BK.
-
On the Roku channel I just watched documentary about Miss Kaye Ballard.
It was very very nice. Lots of clips......
-
DR JANE yes that's where I got my spectacles last year.
Is that also where you had your eyes checked for the prescription? If you aren't returning then I guess you didn't care for the doctor either?
-
Good evening!
-
To answer your question from yesterday, DR vixmmm, I play Connections. I got it today but no luck yesterday.

Wordle: 3/6

Back from bells. Despite missing two people, I think we’re ready for Christmas Eve.
-
At church on Sunday they were giving away gingerbread house kits to any family that wanted one. I didn’t think much about it until I saw one last kit there tonight. I asked and was told it was okay to take.
-
Now I have to put it together. I’ve only done this once but enjoyed it.
-
Now having a salad for dinner. The lettuce is from the backyard. Delicious.

Nice. Keith also got it in three.

Yum.

On and on it goes. I have three cars picked out and am waiting to hear if they can get them here for me to test drive.
-
If they take the cars to you that is very good service. Are they private or from a dealer?
-
(I am hoping BK doesn't say Carvana.)
-
Did you have a bad experience with them?
-
'night
-
Six!
-
Watching Desk Set. Surprisingly up to date in the age of AI threatening to take people’s jobs.
-
Did you have a bad experience with them?
Not me. But I've heard of problems. Sometimes people can't get the title. Also, our mechanic said they've had cars brought in for service that came from there with severe problems.
-
Now I have to put it together. I’ve only done this once but enjoyed it.
That sounds great! Nice that there was one left there.

~~~MORE CAR AND INSURANCE VIBES~~~ for BK!!!!
I haven't seen The Sticky yet, DR Jane, but I am interested. Oh yes, I am interested.
Another Christmas project for DR Laura! :)
-
Good night, friends.
-
And others.
-
Yes, all the cars I'm looking at are from dealers who all have ties to Liberty Mutual.
-
I started The Wild Robot, which is sweet and funny. But I will have to finish it in the morning.
-
I found out that Ballet San Antonio had an amazing Nutcracker season. They filled the theater with an average of 1,400 people every performance over two weeks. The gift shop, where they sell ornaments from $5 cupcakes to $1,000 gigantic nutcrackers, racked up $100,000 in sales. Now that’s a good run.
-
Finished Murakami’s The City and Its Uncertain Walls today. Engaging magical realism that tried to be Gabriel Garcia Marquez. It was more Carlos Ruiz Zafon, but that’s okay as I like his work too.
-
I’m done for today.
-
Good night, all.
-
Good evening
-
I woke up to rain
-
I went to sleep to rain
-
But fortunately about midday the sun came out
-
And the temperature went up
-
I was heading into the city after work so I was quite pleased
-
I went to the PAC which is right by the Wordl Trade Center
-
Very beautiful building
-
I was there to see John Cameron Mitchell sing Bowie
-
It was quite fun
-
Afterwards I treated myself to dinner in the restaurant there
-
I had pumpkin gnocchi with a side of Brussel sprouts
-
I was looking online for the menu description but it'd restaurant must frequently or at least seasonally change it's menu because nothing online matched what was on the menu I was tonight
-
The meal.was delicious, the service was stellar
-
Now I am on the train home
-
My wordle and connections results
-
I have a group of friends who share our results each day
-
Ah, the page that shall not be named.
-
Watching a movie based on yet another Simenon book.
-
Totaled? Wow. Sad to say goodbye to an otherwise pleasant motorcar.
-
Where in tarnation IS everyone?
-
We should have been off this unnamed page ages ago.
-
Make sure the new one has nice cup holders.
-
George sure hasn't been around much today.
-
Am I not anyone?
-
The three that I'm thinking about are all in seemingly excellent condition.
-
You are, in fact, EVERYONE.
-
George, on the other hand, is off somewhere with his jam and a burrito.
-
We're not all that far away from the next page.
-
We're not all that close, either.
-
Closer than ever.
-
Starting here, starting now.
-
One fine day.
-
Man, the walls are closing in. Lil Rodzette’s been sick since Sunday with upset tummy. Getting better. Tonight, Mrs Rodz is down for the count. Came on very suddenly for her. The boy and I are healthy… at the moment.
-
In a galaxy far, far away.
-
STAY healthy!
-
I do sense page eight is waiting in the wings.
-
Just waiting for its cue.
-
Right about now.
-
See?
-
Enter page eight.
-
Wing-waiter.
-
Now a page-eighter.
-
I paid for one of these Cameo things for a Christmas present for the wife. The Canadian singer Chantal Kreviazuk. We slow-danced to her version of “Feels Like Home” at our wedding I actually pulled the surprise of having a coworker of mine learn the song and sing it that day. Now I paid a princely sum to have Chantal sing it herself with a personal message.
-
So I ordered it around 2pm. I don’t know how long these things take. Well she already sent me the video, and she knocked it out of the park. Very sweet personalized message going above and beyond my vague instructions, and then she really put her heart into the song.
-
So that just might be a winner for me. I was coming up empty on gift ideas.
-
Must be fun to have a little side hustle like that.
Or that the new cars have so much computer stuff that it's just more expensive to try to fix than replace. :P
