Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of the car drama, and now it is time for you to post until the dramatic cows come home.

And the word of the day is: ZING!

~~~Stay Healthy Vibes for the Rozinski Clan!!~~~
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept quite poorly. I was in bed by 9:00, and woke just before midnight with terrible abdominal cramps thaty sent me off to the bathroom for thirty minutes. When I got back to bed, I spent the next five hours trying to get comfortable, dozing, tossing and turning, and playing with Thatch.
-
I did have one dream about going to my paternal grandmother's for Thanksgiving. While the actual trips to an Appalachian Kentucky mountain holler were bad enough, with car wheels stuck in mud on unpaved dirt roads, no indoor plumbing, poisonous snakes like copperheads and water moccasins sometimes hiding in the closets, in the dream my parents, my brothers, and I were wading through river water up to our waists. Strangely, when we got to my grandmother's, we were in the house where I grew up at 3003 Goldman Avenue in Middletown, OH.
Today, I am back to the iTunes mess. I spent over an hour yesterday reconstructing the 2001 files of Babes in Toyland. Everything was on the hard drive, but only 2/3 of it transferred back to my iTunes, and it took what seemed forever to locate things on the hard drive. It helped that I had the original CDs so I could use them as guides. Today, I will chewck out all of the 2001 recordoings anmd oinsure that I've got everything downloaded.
I also discovered that all of Drat! The Cat, except for one file, has disappeared from the hard drive. I suspect similar messes will plague me for some time.
-
BK, best wishes for your car search!
Good morning, friends.
'Tis the Season...
Someone has too much time on their hands.
It's because they haven't made the deviled eggs yet.
BK, that is absolutely shocking about the car being totaled.
It had really sounded like some surface stuff needed replacing. But...EIGHT THOUSAND SMACKERS? It had to have done more hidden damage, right?
And even still, what in the HELL?!
-
I think it's DR George who said he'd never heard of transferring license plates to a different car?
Obviously in California you can do it, and that's the case here in Connecticut, too - your choice - keep the existing ones or get new ones.
-
Yes transferring plates is an option here in Indiana as well.
-
Feel better vibes for DR ELMORE.
-
Stay well vibes for the Rodzinski family.
-
Continued car vibes for MR BK.
-
It is 39 degrees here headed for 44 degrees.
-
When my beloved VW died (by sliding slowly and gently down the driveway on some ice and coming to a rest over some rough ground that did damage underneath), it was totaled, and the whole thing about "keeping it as salvage" was explained to me because that had sounded "fine" to me, too.
It's not fine.
"Salvage" means the car isn't legally drivable. You have to get all the repairs done, and then it still isn't drivable. You have to have it flatbed-hauled to the DMV headquarters near Hartford, where it will be thoroughly inspected. Not just inspected for the repairs, but thoroughly inspected as though being seen for the first time. If there's ANYTHING that doesn't pass, you have to get THAT repaired, and have it thoroughly inspected again. All of this hauling and inspecting happens at the owner's expense, and it's a gamble. That's why it's an option that very few will choose.
-
Yes transferring plates is an option here in Indiana as well.
I kept mine, for continuity and not having to get used to a new plate number, and to save the cost of new ones. I can remember when that kind of thing was free, or nearly so, but those days are history.
-
Speaking of continuity, one thing I really liked in California was this:
I had moved from L.A. to Chicago, which I thought would be for a much longer time than it actually turned out to be, but I ended up being moved back to L.A. after just a year and a half. So I went to the DMV to get a new drivers license. Maybe I shouldn't have been surprised, but I was DELIGHTED to find them giving me back my former license number ... which will be burned upon my brain for eternity.
And why is that, you may ask? Either the delight or the burning upon the brain?
Because in the 70s and late-80s, when that took place, one's DL # was used as check writing I.D. - and more - everywhere. You didn't pass a check at a store or anywhere else without writing your DL # on it. It was a way of life. I suppose if checks were still a thing, this would still be the case. But one came to know one's DL # by heart. I last lived in CA in 1989, but you could wake me in the middle of the night in 2024 and I can still rattle it off.
And my CT one? I sort of know it, but I'm never secure in thinking it's right and when I need to give it to someone in person or online, I have to look at it to be sure. Whole different way of life.
-
Good morning.
-
~~~MOST EXCELLENT VIBES & XYLOPHONES FOR A QUICK HAPPY ENDING TO THE CAR DRAMA~~~ for BK!!!!
-
I also think that if BK or anyone else is getting a replacement value from their insurance company that truly helps buy another car of similar value that you're happy with, that's a miracle in itself. When I had to deal with that a few years ago, I wanted to replace the car with another used one, and I had to practically double that "blue book" amount to find one that was acceptable. This was also, unfortunately, early in the pandemic and the costs of used vehicles was rising astronomically.
-
And, to festively serve your deviled eggs...
That looks quite wonderful as serving trays go!
-
Health vibes to Rodzinski and family!

Yes, in California, that’s why you still see old license plate designs stretching back to the powder blue and gold ones.
-
In Delaware, license plate culture was really weird. Since you could keep plates for life, lower-numbered plates are a status symbol and people will pay a lot of money for them.
-
Also, the story of the Cameo gift sung by Chantal Kreviazuk is beautiful!
Thanks folks. I actually had buyer’s remorse until I saw what she did.

I'm up, I'm up - only about four and a half hours of sleep due to ABS (Active Brain Syndrome). All car related, of course.

I liked my license plates, but in thinking about it, I just want new plates for the new/used car.
-
A gracious good Wednesday morning to you all!
-
I wish I had something to say, but all my recent endeavors have been mundane, non-soul-searching, and absolutely appallingly dull.
Sigh.
-
Sorry to read about all your car travails, Bruce.
I do hope you got a decent insurance settlement. It always astonishes me that when I finally have a car paid for and am happy driving it, paying for full insurance coverage all along, how little that insurance policy has to offer me when something goes wrong. And don't the premiums just go UP even though they deny that your accident/incident had a thing to do with it.
-
Our ages also have a lot to do with it, even though I find the agents find ways to not say that.

My question for ASK BK DAY:
What do you think was the most beautifully designed car of your younger years?
-
From DR John:
I found out that Ballet San Antonio had an amazing Nutcracker season. They filled the theater with an average of 1,400 people every performance over two weeks. The gift shop, where they sell ornaments from $5 cupcakes to $1,000 gigantic nutcrackers, racked up $100,000 in sales. Now that’s a good run.
Wow!

Of my really younger years, I loved the 1950s Thunderbirds. In the 70s my dream car was a Mercedes SL 280. And I'd hate to tell you what they sell for still, today. Outrageous. they were 9K in the 1970s. Today, the cheapest one I saw was just under 50K and yes I'm talking about a 1970 car. Some go for 300K
-
Test drive for noon should happen any moment now.
-
Cannot get the gal at the insurance company to call back or return emails - which is VERY frustrating. Have to sign the title and Robert is coming to drive me to the ups store to do so, but I'm confused and before I sign it I want to clarify a couple of things, then she needs my debit card so I can be paid once they pick up the old car today.
-
So, I just texted the original gal who was helping me - and she'll call me back shortly and hopefully can get on this woman's case for me. All I'm trying to do is have a five-minute conversation with her and to get this off BOTH our plates sooner than later and I want it all to happen so I can get the car before Xmas. All it takes is picking up the phone and calling. I'm sure she's dealing with a lot of other claims, too, but c'mon already - sent two emails yesterday, one today, all unanswered and two messages today.

'Tis the Season...
Cute.

It's because they haven't made the deviled eggs yet.

-
I got to drive a friend's SL 280 occasionally in the 1979-1981 time period. I was living in their S. Beverly Drive condo for a short time in between two other places, and the car would have been a '79 or '80. You'd see them all around L.A. then, especially on the west side, and my God, the feel of how that thing handled. I think the words "solid" and "elegant" had to be taken out of storage, dusted off, and redefined for that car.

I always had to get new plates every time I got another car, so it must be a Washington state thing.

Test drove the car, love it, and committed to it. Super nice guy and is willing to hold it for me until the payments come in. They're supposedly picking up the car today, then I'm supposed to get an e-mail notice and that's when I tell them to put it on my debit card. Once that happens, I'll go to the bank immediately and transfer it into the business account. They're willing to give me the car then, with that first payment, then when the second one comes through, which should be Friday or Monday, I'll tell them to deposit the second check, which I'll leave with them. The car drove really great, it's slightly less mileage and there's not a mark on it. Black. Looks like the old car may not get picked up until tomorrow, but it still could be today. As long as that first payment comes in by Friday, it's fine. They're getting the title on Friday, too, so hopefully that payment will come quickly, too. The price was actually close to what I'm getting so all I'm really paying are all the fees, etc. app 1800ish. Excited to get it. Have to decide whether to keep the plates that are on it. The letters are KZT and normally I don't like Z but if I can figure out a positive meaning for KZT I might keep them - if not, they'll get me new plates and I may just go that route. All I can think of so far is Kimmel's Zeitgeist Tremendous or Kimmel's Zillions Thrill or Kimmel Zealously Thankful. Those are fine. Others feel free to chime in.

It was involved in an accident and the driver's door couldn't be opened....and then for some reason the hood was removed.....so it was only driven in emergencies.
There was a road out of town that was very narrow with drop offs on both sides. Our friends had bought a fancy GOLD 1970 Chrysler 300......and as the wife drove it for the first time, she saw me coming toward her on the narrow road....as I drove the hoodless 1958 Thunderbird.....
She later described her terror to me.....
-
DR JANE that's a LOT of books.
I used to read more in a year, and more longer books as well :)
-
What does everyone think about James Dean?
I never really understood the attraction and fuss. It was sad he died young.
-
Pair of keets have been quiet the last couple of days.....I am afraid they are planning a coup.
I hope not :)

No warranty, of course, but I have the Carfax and it's been really taken care of by its two owners.
-
Car was obviously not picked up today. It best be picked up tomorrow.
-
Had a Chinese chicken salad earlier and am now having green and red peppers and onion dip.
-
Can't stop with the dip. Have always loved Lipton's onion dip.
-
Which book got your five-star review, DR Jane?
-

WHY do people wait until the last possible moment?

WHY, I ask you.

The concert was short but very good.
-
Good night, friends.
-
And others.
-
I am considering doing something tomorrow.
We shall see how I feel when tomorrow comes.
Do you not want to say what it is until you decide to do it?
-
Pair of keets have been quiet the last couple of days.....I am afraid they are planning a coup.
:)
-
Ah, the page that shall not be named.
-
Computer getting wonky - must be time for the you-know-what.
-
Forty minutes more of this movie I'm watching.
-
A small but nice turn early in the movie by Kerry O'Malley.

Last time I left NY state, they harassed me until I sent my plates back.
-
Mrs Rodz and Lil Rodzette still under the weather, stomachly speaking.
-
If anyone wants to gift me a Cameo, it would be BK singing “I Want to Eat Your Face.”
-
But it has to be done in the alien’s costume.
-
I like James Dean in his three roles. It’s a small sample size.
-
Jimmy Dean lived much longer but only managed one theatrical film. The villain in Diamonds Are Forever.
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
Computer is just being horrible so I'm manually shutting it down right now.
-
Yet he had a #1 pop song, a successful brand of breakfast sausage, and his own tv show.
-
I’d have preferred a year warranty for you, but what can you do?
-
The page went on forever.
-
A parody of Jim Webb’s The Yard Went On Forever.
-
What if Jimmy Webb wrote Guys and Dolls?
-
What if Jack Webb sang MacArthur Park?
-
What if Richard Harris played Julie Harris’s part in East of Eden?
-
And Barbara Harris played James Dean’s role?
-
The AMC Gremlin was the best-looking motorcar.
-
Let’s leave all this madness behind.
-
Paige ate.
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
Shut the thing down and now it's up and running again, finally.
-
Still isn't loading properly, but it does take a while.
-
Can't even get the notes to load.
-
Okay, where the HELL is George and his jamburrito?
-
Riddle me that.
-
The license plate on Petey the PT Cruiser is three numbers and BFF.....which is not something I chose.
The license plate on Dennis the Smart Car is three numbers and EIK....which is real estate jargon for Eat In Kitchen.
The best license plate number I ever had was 222 DBL! 222-Double!
Too bad you couldn't keep it.
I know. :-\
-
Is he here to post? Nooooo.
-
Oh, NOW he shows up, like the cat who ate the cream.
-
Okay, where the HELL is George and his jamburrito?
Earlier today, I went to Costco and got one of their hot dogs. It was quite delish.
-
Well, he has lots to catch up on.
-
Is he here to post? Nooooo.
Of course, I am!
-
Many lots.
-
Well, he has lots to catch up on.
As usual. ::)
;)
-
Great news Bruce. I think you will like having a back up camera.
Does the car come with a waranty?
I really like my back-up camera...especially when I pull through a parking space to the next one so that when I leave, I can just drive out, I use the camera when I back up to the back line of the space so that I don't have to guess anymore if I'm either too far in or too far out of the space. :)

Not gonna get to page nine, I'm afraid.

Happy birthday, Penny and Margo!
Margo thanks you too, John!

Today is also my friend Margo's birthday!
Happy birthday, Margo!
And thank you, Freddie!

I'm also surprised to learn that I am in the top 10 percent of readers.
That's amazing, Jane! Congrats!
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
