Well, you've read the notes, the notes have noted the start of a new book in a New Year, and also spoke of an intimately intimate gathering, and now it is time for you to post until the intimate cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: REJUVENATE!
-
I was literally about to post this last night to finish my Applebee's story:
And the real kicker is that Shelly ate her chicken broccoli Alfredo dish after coming home...and it gave her diarrhea!!

Wordle 1,293 3/6
⬜⬜⬜⬜🟨

-
Good morning, all!
-
So far, the morning's been hell.
-
I slept well, the alarm rang at 5:30, I got up, dressed. opened the computer, cleaned out my emails, and stood up to feed the cats. It was just before 6:15, and I thought, I need to remove this external drive and replace it with the new one.
-
Because I amcomputer-challenged, I unplugged it only to realize I did not have a new externmal drive; I had a new hub. I'm a moron.
-
So, I re-plugged all the old plugs, and the computer shut down. This led to my crawling around the floor to see if I had, in turning the computer around, unplugged something like an iMac from the power cable. Only I'm too crippled to accomplish anything. Once I got onto the floor, I was holding the flashlight in one hand, keeping my balance with the other, and unable to crawl under the table to check the state of things.
-
I fed the cats, made a cup of coffee and sent Ann and Jen a text on m y cell phone: Happy New Year! Are you back? I drank my coffee and looked for my keys since I need to take the recyclables to the basement. I decided I would try to examine the power cable from another angle.
-
I then went to the end of the computer table against the filing cabinets where the power cable resides. Everything seemed to be plugged in. I went back to the computer and pressed the power button; still dead.
-
I sat in front of a dead screen, and I thought, Hmmm, all this began when I replugged everything. Maybe that's the problem. Well, it was. As soon as I replugged everything and pressed the [power button, the computer opened. My day can only go up from there.
-
And that's enough of me!
-
Been in that exact spot DR ELMORE.
Glad it was fixed.
-
MR BK's party sounds great!
-
I Spent January 1 in bed - sleeping, reading, and watching tv.
-
My New Year's Day was quiet. I played with the iTunes - still on the A's - and had a nice dinner of pork and sauerkraut. After I gave the cats their evening treat, we finished watching Return to Cranford. I don't understand how Heidi Thomson, who's created Call the Midwife and wrote such wonderful screenplays for the two Cranford series could so badly mangle the book for that shitty version of Lerner and Loewe's Gigi that closed pretty quickly in 2015.
-
I simply MUST go to the getting place this morning.
Snow is predicted for tonight and tomorrow.....and then Saturday night and a LOT on Sunday.....
-
So I shall be on my way in 15 or twenty minutes or so.
-
Good morning.
-
MR BK's party sounds great!
Yes, and I loved the photo!
-
Good morning DR LAURA.
-
I babysat last night and took Mama to work. I hope I don't pick up anything. We stopped at McDonalds and got a Happy Meal. It cost $7.05. I guess it's been a while since I bought one.
-
We really haven't gone out to eat much since 2020. Then my DH and I both began low-carb eating. So I've been cooking at home.
-
So I'm out of touch with prepared food prices.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
And others.
-
.
-
I am aware that I do not employ a personal trainer.
-
Which is why I look like a cream puff.
-
Good morning, all.
-
It's a Monday disguised as a Thursday, right?
-
We sat in front of the boob tube all day yesterday, grazing on leftover par-tay snacks and seeing who could most quickly guess the Twilight Zone episodes by the opening shot.
-
Congrats to BK on the successful foodstuffs and a fine gathering.
-
Good morning
-
I must go to work
-
Glad Elmore fixed his computer
-
Me, whenever I'm not working:
-
Good morning, all.
-
I sent two hours yesterday practicing Viennese waltz, finished my first book of the year, Mr. Wilder and Me, and watched Original Cast Album: Company.
-
I too loved the photo in the notes.
-
And now the new year is already getting old. Massive stupidty on the parts of Trump and MT Greene.
Elon Musk is crowing about how well his cybertruck contained the massive explosive that did nothing to the Trump hotel in Vegas.
It all seems a bit contrived to me...much like the so-called assassination attempt that failed...and offered no visual evidence of damage to Trump other than the ONE, SINGULAR occasion when he wore an ear bandage at a rally.
-
And congratulations on a good start to the new book, BK.
-
You may be asking yourself if I truly believe anyone would do a terrorist hit in New Orleans just to make political points.
I refer you to an interview Trump did way back when with Lester Holt when he asked Holt "Do you really believe we (the USA) don't kill people"? IIRC, Holt had discussed Trump's friendship with Putin and posed the question about Putin having his political enemies killed.
-
I agree, Ron.
-
Timing is EVERYTHING, and nothing speaks of bad timing like these convenient events.
-
At any rate, have a nice Thiursday, everyone.
I will soon be off to my two-week post-op cataract surgery appointment.
-
Thursday morning greetings! Weird sleeping night here.
-
I simply MUST go to the getting place this morning.
Snow is predicted for tonight and tomorrow.....and then Saturday night and a LOT on Sunday.....
Here, too. My Monday meeting has already been converted to a Zoom event based on the forecast.

That's so terrible, George!
And your meals there have all been OK?
-
I babysat last night and took Mama to work. I hope I don't pick up anything. We stopped at McDonalds and got a Happy Meal. It cost $7.05. I guess it's been a while since I bought one.
A used-to-be-cheap quarter pounder with cheese adding a little bit of bacon is now over $10 in these parts of Manhattan!
Fast food is still fast, but not cheap these days.
-
At any rate, have a nice Thiursday, everyone.
I will soon be off to my two-week post-op cataract surgery appointment.
Hoping the appointment goes well!
-
Great to hear how well BK's party went yesterday!
-
I wonder if I can just rattle on and get to page 3 before 10 a.m. (Eastern)
-
It's an arbitrary goal
-
but it seems worthwhile somehow
-
We've been going back and watching old episodes of CASTLE
-
The relationships seem very well drawn
-
as if they had the arc of the series well in hand from the beginning
-
I'm impressed that the character of the lead's mother who was a Broadway actress (played by Susan Sullivan) never got tired as the years went on
-
I recall that CASTLE ended somewhat arbitrarily, because two of the actors just didn't renew their contracts, not because they ran out of story ideas
-
Well, we're on page 3 before 10 a.m. (Eastern)
-
It was an arbitrary goal, but the goal was reached!
-
Can HHW in 2025 possibly reach or even surpass the impressive statistics from 2024?
-
And did all those Guests (sometimes 400 or 500 at a time) find HHW, as I've speculated, because BK started writing about his doing DRAT! THE CAT!
-
Hearing about BK doing DRAT! THE CAT! is one of the Internet content things I'm looking forward to.
-
Hoping the theater won't impose restrictions on what can be written about on the net for that process.
-
DRAT! THE CAT!

Returned from grocery shopping....just not feeling well made it more difficult than it should have been.....and I of course wore a mask.

What a thoughtful gift you found for Barry Pearl, BK!

Where did you send them?

The wit here on HHW is just outstanding.

I did virtually nothing yesterday. Virtually. And in reality.
-
Back to work today, though I don’t plan on doing much.
-
Bruce I am glad you had a fun time at your New Year celebration.
-
Wow George, that was terrible service at Applebees.
-
Today’s Billy Wilder is one I haven’t seen before: The Spirit of St. Louis.
-
I am wondering if the waiter did not want the manager to know about forgetting to serve the food on time.

Feel better vibes for DR Jrand74!

Guess who else brought in the New Year by enjoying ill health?
And who's got the POSITIVE TEST RESULT to prove it?
Nathan.
He'd been to NJ to visit his mom and other family, got back on New Year's Eve, and immediately started feeling crappy. Yesterday he just kept feeling crappier during the TZ marathon, and decided to test. The other two of us are FINE, thankyouverymuch, and he's starting to feel a little better today, but it looks like he'll get to miss some work. Which he won't mind doing at all.

On the rare occasion I get fast food, Jack-in-the-Box usually has some kind of special that's around $5 for the sandwich, fries, and drink.
At least they used to. I haven't done that in a long time.
-
To think that, I dunno... four years ago? - we still had DOLLAR or DOLLAR-plus MENUS at the likes of McDonald's, Wendy's, and probably the others, but those are the two I remember frequenting back then.
And then the increase in minimum wage happened, and the pandemic-related supply chain issues, and then inflation, and finally the major corporations NOT giving up the pandemic-related profits... and here we are.
-
Anyhoo, we had no idea back then what a deal some fast food was for a few glorious years.
-
Now I'm hungry, damn it.

Damn it to HELL.

The Spirit of St. Louis was really good on many levels. But when it was over I realized something that didn't quite ring true. Lindbergh's flight was a highlight of the Jazz Age. Yet nothing about the movie, especially the otherwise great Franz Waxman score suggests jazz or the Roaring 20s.

He doesn't like the documentary, doesn't feel he comes off well in it, and feels it added unnecessary stress to the day. However, in the end, he's glad it gives a glimpse into the process of what he does.

In the commentary, Elaine Stritch talks about the perfectionists at work there. He is obviously one of the perfectionists. But his criticism can be withering. And Sondheim does cast Shepard as the bad guy, which, as the producer, he is by default.

Here's something I wonder about:
Is it possible on Facebook to stop allowing comments on your posts by new people, or by people you aren't FB friends with? It bugs me when there are people I'd love to occasionally give a positive or otherwise supporting comment to, and there's no way to comment or sometimes even to send a friend request.
Does one's account simply "fill up" and no more can be added, or can people turn those features off when they're tired of accepting new ones?
-
I don't know how to do that, however, I have seen where people shut off the comments to a post.

I got a Spanish film on DVD that I have wanted to see for a while: Javier Bardem in Los Lunes al sol (Mondays in the Sun). Sadly there are no subtitles, only Spanish.

Finished futzing and finessing and then writing two new pages. Having the little bit of tuna pasta salad right now, then have a phone conversation at two, then I'll continue writing and get at least eight more pages done. I know exactly what happens in those pages so hopefully I can get that done. The computer is behaving so I haven't shut it down yet, and I'm saving every time I write something new.

Yes, accounts can fill up (something like 5,000 friends, I think), and pages at least can turn off comments from new people.

I had similar symptoms.
-
Had to give up caffeine.
-
It was not a pleasant time.

Onward!

Eight!

DR Laura-
Trader Joe’s sent out an email announcing their new products.
Meyer Lemon yogurt is one of them!
https://www.traderjoes.com/home/products/pdp/meyer-lemon-cream-yogurt-079508
I found the list interesting though I didn't see anything I want.
-
DR Laura I suspect you will begin to notice other products which say Meyer Lemon.

Snow is predicted for Maryland tomorrow as well.
1-2 inches.
:o I was not expecting that.
-
I thought I as outsmarting whatever it was that was causing my chills, but a poor night of sleep did me in. I had hoped to go over to Trader Joe’s today because the cupboard is getting bare, but no can do. I can’t seem to get warm. I had to cancel tomorrow’s acupuncture appointment, too. While bk is casting “Drat! The Cat!” I’m mumbling, “Drat! This bug!”
Sorry.

In Canada, Smarties are more like M&Ms.
What we’d call Smarties, they call Rockets.
The Smarties in Canada look like they might taste better than Rockets.

A print or an original. Harvey was pretty protective of his originals - I now have three of the originals for Ben Bagley albums hanging on my wall. Can you link to it?

The firecrackers have been going off all afternoon. The bird is not amused.
Poor bird. Firecrackers should be over by now.
-
Got hung up a bit trying to research something and coming up with nothing. I hate when that happens. Anyway, five pages so far, so another seven or eight at some point, but for now, taking a little butt and back break.
-
DR Iris I am sorry I missed you. I hope with each day there is a subtle improvement in your recovery.
-
Hello John G!
Howdy do, sir?
Like others dealing with health stuff, I am trying to fend off a chronic heartburn issue that I have not had to deal with in over a year. Hope to defeat it before it gets bad. One thing that helps is chewing my food more slowly.
Waiting four hours after eating before lying down. If not four, at least three.

Not until after the weekend.

A Little Butt and Back Break is the title of my next erotic novel.

I just took some recycling out to the bin and noticed a skunk has been active around the side of the house. Ugh.

Sure. Could be someone trying their copying skills.

Did they have envelopes you lick back in Sherlock Holmes’s time?

Hoping it's something you can deal with easily, Rodzinski.
-
Did they have envelopes you lick back in Sherlock Holmes’s time?
Turns out they were introduced in the 1830s.
-
I keep having to remind myself that today is Thursday and not Friday.

Interesting.
-
Just finished The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes. I just realized I have seen it before, but totally forgot it.
-
It’s a sweet movie, a bit out of place for the time it was made. But so what? It’s a period comedy. Not the Vietnam War.
-
There’s 50 minutes of deleted scenes. Apparently, the film was originally meant yo be three ir four cases, two of which were cut.
-
I had never seen this before:

It’s before A Chorus Line and Chicago. Paula Kelly is wonderful. Well, they all are.
-
Let’s get off this page.
-
Uno mas.
-
Nine!

Hocus pocus spelled backwards is sucop sucoh.
-
I think there's a pill for that.

Had dinner out tonight to celebrate December birthdays. In our party of 4 we had Dec 23, Dec 24, and Dec 26 represented.
-
Then, on the way out, we ran into another acquaintance, and it turns out her birthday is on Dec 25.
-
I thought that was kind of fun.
-
Thanks for sharing another interesting recipe, DR John G.
-
I would eat Meyer lemon yogurt.
-
Frozen or un-.
-
Let it go!
-
Wayne Osmond of the Osmond Brothers has died.
-
I’m glad they cut the story of Watson trying to solve a case. It’s embarrassing to the character. And it goes on for too long in that painful manner.
-
Apple millefeuille
-
I can't pronounce it.
-
But I'd eat it.
-
I'd take one for the team, as it were.
-
Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
-
I think the Big Winter Storm that will blanket much of the U.S., including DR Jrand74, is going to miss us here in Saint Paul.
-
~~~EXTRA-STRENGTH FEEL BETTER VIBES~~~ to all ailing DRs.
-
I can't pronounce it.
Mee fwee.
-
I’m finished with my viewing for today.
-
I hope I can sleep tonight.
-
The decongestant is still wreaking havoc with getting uninterrupted sleep.
-
~~~SWEET DREAMS VIBES~~~ for DR John G.!!!!
-
Good night, friends.
-
And others.
-
Good night, Singdaw.
-
Still on nine?
-
Ten is divine.
-
Ten!
-
See?
-
The divinity of this page is unquestionable.
-
And with that, good night, all.

Honestly, maybe?
-
No posts in 2.5 hours? Yow! Folks is tired.
-
I'd have to see that to know if it's original. Harvey did a LOT of color Xeroxes of that stuff, sometimes hand coloring them. I've had quite a few of those and gave one to dear reader Jeanne.
-
New notes are written.
-
And where the HELL is George.
-
Galavanting, no doubt.
-
Well, three minutes to new notes.
-
We probably won't make a new page.
-
Unless we start posting up a storm.
-
But only two minutes to go and then I have to write a couple more pages - maybe just one.
-
But have to research something first but the shouldn't take too long.
-
One minute to notes.
-
What am I, doing a monologue?
-
George is a bad, bad boy.
-
He may have to be spanked.
-
A proper thrashing.
-
Leaving us in the lurch.
-
Get me to the lurch on time.
-
Ah well.
-
Ah Fong's.
-
Ah, Wilderness!
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
Is page eleven waiting in the wings?
-
Yes.
-
Enter page eleven.
