That’s waltz, tango, foxtrot for those who can’t remember initials.
Not a great night of sleep. I dreamt I was a set designer creating large cutout pieces based on an artist friend’s work. She does paintings that look like a stoned Dr. Seuss. I forget what the show was, but it had her vision of the Alamo and of the Tower of the Americas (San Antonio’s version of the Space Needle), which she makes look like a tortilla warmer on a stick.
Rodzinski, hoping finishing the gym goes smoothly.

My last post was about a steak dinner at which I overindulged and was feeling overstuffed. That feeling lasted well up to bedtime, but I slept well overnight into Sunday.
Yesterday, however, was a day of penance...and more penance...
I don't know what it was that I ate that set off the rumbling, gurgling, series of events that hounded me throughout the day, but I can only say, it wasn't pretty.
Sadly, it ain't over yet.
I loved the Bob & Jule notes! It's always nice to be mentioned.
I’m a bit kneecapped by having some of the most unclear instructions and illustrations as my guides.

They say it's going to rain here today. In the winter, if it rains in California, we might get it next.

In four years, I suspect my house will be empty.
When I say dumpster, I mean our personal garbage can picked up by the truck. Not a driveway dumpster, like at a hoarder house.
DR Iris,
At the top of the page, under your photo, there's a blue bar. In the middle of the bar there's a tab that says "My Messages." There should be a little "1" by it, indicating you have a message.
You have to be signed in to see that bar. If you are not signed in, it's not there.
See how I stretched that one thought out into several posts?
I am softly beating the drums for the play.....we shall see if anyone is listening to the percussion.

I am a fraternity brother of Dan Quayle.
I thought that might be of interest to someone......he left shortly before I arrived.....
His greatest skill was throwing a bicycle off the roof of the fraternity house further than anyone had ever thrown one before......probably still his greatest skill.
Both the pair of keets decided to take a bath in their drinking water cup today.
So I have given them fresh water.

We'd submitted our "Last Starfighter" musical to a quite excellent theater that would be a plum venue for getting the show attention - and where we even had a contact. Five months had passed so I assumed it was a "no" - but we found out a few days ago they hadn't even started to read possibilities for next season. The script had not been opened yet.
In other news....I told you so....

It sounds like it could be a fun kind of busy. Or is it too much in so few days?
Curse you, BK! I loved the Posting song lyrics, but so did Annabelle. She started singing the song while I was preparing their breakfast,. and now she's now sitting on the computer table next to me and singing the song over and over and over and over and . . .
DR George, I hope everything concerning your ma's legs comes out well.
I can't remember if I was still working for the New York State Theatre Institute (NYSTI) after I discovered HHW in 2004, but between 1994 and 2004, I did two shows for them, A Tale of Cinderella while got a recording and DVD and a NY State tour, The Snow Queen, and Magna Carta. Around 2007 or so, the company folded amidst a lot of nasty allegations that hurt friends of mine who worked with the Institute.
My friend Patricia di Benedetto Snyder, who founded the company and ran it until its demise, has written a lavish history, jampacked with wonderful photos of productions and posters, and she sent me a copy this week. It's huge, it weighs a ton, and I'm having a great time just browsing though it. When I have more time in the next few weeks, I will actually read it.

During my weekly Zoom chat yesterday, someone told us that he was shocked to learn that Charles Strouse, the legendary Broadway composer, is still alive.
He is 96 and living in New York.

Had a bloodwork follow up at doctor today. She said everything looked great and then started teaming me the importance of working on muscles. I said ‘would you believe I’m in the middle of putting together a gym in our garage, and if building it doesn’t kill me, it just might make me healthier. ‘

How did I manage to get myself in charge of a book discussion for one group this coming Saturday morning and the refreshment committee for another group next Monday afternoon?
Is it a good book?
Founding Gardeners: The Revolutionary Generation, Nature, and the Shaping of the American Nation by Andrea Wulf
It’s more interesting than it sounds, especially since I’ve been to Washington’s Mount Vernon, Jefferson’s Monticello, and Madison’s Montpelier. My favorite chapter is the one about the creation of Washington, DC, and the White House.
And on pages 115-116 there’s a truly frightening discussion of the Founders’ skepticism about the sustainability of the Republic.
DR George, I hope everything concerning your ma's legs comes out well.
Thanks, Larry. She called me this morning and wanted me to come over earlier than I was planning so that I could feed her cat Henry because she hasn't been able to get out of bed. Lying still causes no pain at all.
I came over and she was able to call her doctor's office because the pain had increased. They said to call 911 so that they could evaluate her. She did, and the EMTs came very quickly and brought her to whichever ER they took her to, and now I'm just waiting to hear from someone...anyone. :-\

I would be afraid to discuss anything that could be political right now. It was fine when our group were all on the same page. I am sure a few of the newer members are on that other page, the one we don't like.
DR Ginny what were your top favorite recent book group books?
We currently do not have a book for February.

Oh my. She would get to the car for you to drive her there. This sounds very scary.
But I'd have to walk to the couch.
See?
Hello, everyone.
Vibes to George’s mom and that she’s OK and able to come home soon.
At yesterday's staging rehearsal, the director mentioned that one scene should be like Young Frankenstein.
A question for Jrand or anyone else: are we in some sort of weird vortex where everything goes wrong? It certainly seems that way.
Vibes to George’s mom and that she’s OK and able to come home soon.
Thanks, Jeanne. Well, the updates are that they think it's a pinched nerve, which makes sense. And she has a room and will stay overnight.

Yes, DR Jane, I’m going to keep the discussion focused on the botany and gardening and tourism. I’ve only shared pages 115-116 with Richard.
Even more vibes for your Mom.
At which point our stage manager (plus a chorister who was listening in) belted out a wonderful, in tune, completely lyric-perfect version of the theme. I only have about half the words memorized myself.
That description sounds like such great fun, MichaelG!
DR Ginny what were your top favorite recent book group books?
Yellowface
How the Penguins Saved Veronica
Morning in this Broken World
West with Giraffes

Just curious. ;)

Thanks, Jane. My friend Shelly (who used to work at the same hospital that my mom worked at) called there and found out that she's still there and in a hall in the ER. She's comfortable (for the most part) and sleeping. They did some tests including a CAT scan, but the results from that haven't come in yet. That's the latest.

Yup...but fortunately not so scary now. :)

I'll stay over at her house to watch Henry. I'll just need to go home for a bit to get my meds and a few other things.

I couldn't lead a discussion on one of his books-it just feels to personal to me, plus the books need to also be available from the library.

Where'd George get to.
