We currently do not have a book for February.

Jane, have you ever suggested one of BK's books? ::)

Just curious. ;)

I couldn't lead a discussion on one of his books-it just feels to personal to me, plus the books need to also be available from the library.

DR George, I hope everything concerning your ma's legs comes out well.

Thanks, Larry.  She called me this morning and wanted me to come over earlier than I was planning so that I could feed her cat Henry because she hasn't been able to get out of bed.  Lying still causes no pain at all.

It must be very bad if she couldn't get up for Henry, but then she knew she could call you.  More vibes for your mother.

Thanks, Jane.  My friend Shelly (who used to work at the same hospital that my mom worked at) called there and found out that she's still there and in a hall in the ER.  She's comfortable (for the most part) and sleeping.  They did some tests including a CAT scan, but the results from that haven't come in yet.  That's the latest.

I'm glad Shelly could get some feedback for you.

I came over and she was able to call her doctor's office because the pain had increased.  They said to call 911 so that they could evaluate her.  She did, and the EMTs came very quickly and brought her to whichever ER they took her to, and now I'm just waiting to hear from someone...anyone. :-\

Oh my.  She would get to the car for you to drive her there.  This sounds very scary.

Yup...but fortunately not so scary now. :)

Good.

Well, that scene was easy enough to find. We just have to transpose this effect into bel canto opera:

I'll stay over at her house to watch Henry.  I'll just need to go home for a bit to get my meds and a few other things.

I should have waited to ask.

Vibes to George’s mom and that she’s OK and able to come home soon.

Thanks, Jeanne.  Well, the updates are that they think it's a pinched nerve, which makes sense.  And she has a room and will stay overnight.

Ouch!  A pinched nerve can be so painful.

Extremely painful and debilitating.

On Holocaust Remembrance Day -

Hilary Landau's and my father Naftali Landau was a Holocaust survivor who lived to 100-1/2, passing away (from Covid) in February 2021. He had written his memories of the Holocaust by hand, planning at the time to form them into a book.

We had his notes typed up, and our dear Cousin Miriam Litvak arranged to put Dad's narrative online, in his own words

hoping to add his voice to the cry of "Never again," whether or not we're actually able to create the book Dad had once planned.

I've started the Michael Fassbinder version of Macbeth. Very violent and very highly sexed. There's a seeming bit of inconsistency. Before Macbeth kills Duncan, he's victorious in presumably bloody battle. Then he has to be coaxed into killing Duncan. After that, he slaughters at will, as if there's nothing to it. Why is he so fussy about killing Duncan?

Marion Cotillard's Lady Macbeth has him wrapped around her finger. A simple thrust of a thigh has him powerless

Yes.  I went home, took my meds, and brought a few things here, so I'm set for tonight.  I just fed Henry, so he's set for the night.

It looks like they want her to go to rehab before she comes home, so at this point, I don't know when she'll be home.  My niece and I will take turns taking care of Henry until she's able to come home.
