Well, you've read the notes, the notes were chewy, and now it is time for you to post until the chewy cows come home.

Great lyrics in today's, notes BK!
-
Good morning, all!

I too watched a turd of a movie last night: Becoming Ms. Bennet also known as Pride and Prejudice, Cut. Like the musical Birds of Paradise, in which the cast rehearsing Chekhov's The Seagull are living Chekhov's plot, the cast of a new film version of Miss Austen's comic novel are living the plot. There were two real problem with the film: the screenplay and the cast, most of whom were unknown British actors who may remain so. As to the screenplay, oy!, a particular mess when the actors are rehearsing scenes for Pride and Prejudice, in which the dialogue is a curious mix of mangled Austen and contemporary English.

DR George, Henry is quite a handsome fellow. I hope your news on your mother's status today is excellent!

The Fat Orange Felon continues to fuck up the government. Where, oh where is a John Wilkes Booth when you really need him?

DR George, I had never heard of a Cat in the Stacks mystery, so thanks for posting ther cover of one. I just ordered the first in the series. I'm looking forward to it.

Good morning, friends.

Should one try?

That "one" is odd.

Wonderful notes by Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein in today's notes!

TOD: Back in my younger days, among chewy candies, Tootsie Rolls, Starburst, and Bit-O-Honey were favorites.
-
Toffifay was (or is) partially chewy, and that was extremely enjoyable.
-
Google's AI describes Toffifay as a German brand of chewy caramel candy with a hazelnut center and chocolate topping.

What? No red vines?

They are now in the public domain.

I'm supposed to see Gaslight at the Bedford Playhouse this evening.
We shall see. I always enjoy going there, but I've got so much on my plate to get done here over these next few days that it just might not happen.
It's always an enjoyable escape, though. I should just do it. I will, however, have to go out today and fill the tank. The price of which I just now remembered might be an unpleasant surprise. Well, there's no escaping it.
-
At least Gaslight wouldn't be a turd. Someone else will have to find the third turd of the day.

At least Gaslight wouldn't be a turd. Someone else will have to find the third turd of the day.
Is this based on the movie script? Or, have they renamed "Angel Street"?
-
It is Tuesday in the CSRA.
I am truly aghast at how quickly January has passed by.
On the other hand, if the next four years pass as quickly, it can only be a good thing.
Still, in four years I shall be 80. Heaven forfend!!

My question too.

Can’t help lovin’ that lyric today.
-
BK forgot to mention the name of the cinematic masterflop he watched. My Google search turned up something called The List. Perhaps a filmed laundry list would have been better.

Ah, I see the confusion. It IS the movie. At the Bedford Playhouse, a movie theeder.

The Fat Orange Felon continues to fuck up the government. Where, oh where is a John Wilkes Booth when you really need him?
Booth is probably a hero of the FOF.

DR George, I had never heard of a Cat in the Stacks mystery, so thanks for posting ther cover of one. I just ordered the first in the series. I'm looking forward to it.
I'd never heard of it either. I just did an image search for "six cats" and that was one of the results. And I didn't even realize until later that the picture only had three cats on the cover. ::)

But reading the synopsis and reviews of the first book, it does sound like it could be a fun series.

Not to get political or anything, but those f*ckers in Texas are at it again. >:(

all_things_democracy:
So it is starting at the state level now. Democrats have no committee chairs here in Texas. They have no control over what bills are introduced, and they cannot amend bills. They have lost the checks and balances. They have lost influence over policies. They cannot shape the public narrative of what is actually happening in chambers. Republicans have the Senate majority by seven seats and the house majority by 26.

This is horrible. I'm reading about it now.
others like Rep. Daniel Alders are worried it could set a new precedent for partisanship politics.
"There's been more of a tradition of bipartisanship," Barrett said. "George W. Bush famously worked with the Democrats in the Texas House when he was governor and so what you're seeing today is certainly an indicator that we're moving past that era of bipartisanship and we're in a more polarized political situation."
While Democrats won't be able able to serve as committee chairs, the new rules ensure that the minority party serves as vice chairs on House committees. Both Barrett and Hefner say this keeps Democrats involved in the legislative process."

You need to go to the last of the photos, near the bottom of the page. (Am I right, sir? Am I right?)

In breaking news, I have decided NOT to go see Gaslight tonight.
If it were some movie I'm absolutely dying to see, then yes, of course I would. But I'm sick of the cold nights (it's not even groundhog day yet), and tonight I can do without the cold and the 45-minute drive each way. It's a PERFECT night for staying in, eating some kind of comfort food, sinking into the movie-watching couch, and enjoying something right here.

Hi DR Iris. How was your appointment with the oncologist?
-
The radiation oncologist at Hopkins is wonderful.
I will begin treatment here in Baltimore in a few weeks.
Decided against Sedona for several reasons, including wanting to be close when my future grandson decides to make his appearance, probably the end of March.
-
Who decides these things?
😊
-
Hi DR Iris. How was your appointment with the oncologist?
Hi Jane!
She was fantastic. Spent a long time going over every detail, and has a very positive attitude. It’s a good team, for which I am grateful.
-
Keith was very distracted while doing Wordle today.
-
The next door neighbor was having a bathroom that backs up to our wall disassembled.
-
At times it felt and sounded as if they were going to knock through to his office.
-
At least he got Wordle in six and didn't miss it.

-
Jane, I hope you get good news from your brother.
My friend’s brother is now allowed back, but there is arsenic contamination in the water from the fires. He will continue to stay in a hotel while everything gets cleaned and repainted. Quite a mess, but he is very thankful that his house is standing.

I also like Swedish Fish.
And Starburst.
-
I got some lute playing video recommendations from early music friends so I don't hold and play it completely wrong. I was guessing you played it like a fingerpicking guitar and that seems to be the case.
-
And caramels.
And the occasional Sugar Daddy.

I worked the candy counter at The Silver movie theater in Silver Spring, Maryland, during college.
My teeth were not happy. 😄

Good to see you, Iris. I agree with all your chewy candy choices.

I will add Ginger Chews.

A real guilty pleasure is Goetz Old-Fashioned caramel chews with the white center that’s like sugar and crack.

I did not listen to BK and got what I deserve. I’m a half-hour into Challengers from “visionary” Luca Guad—-. It’s dreadful. I’m not a fan of Zendaya and she’s truly awful here.

Hot out of the oven.

I had to make a dessert for tomorrow. And I had to use up the cranberries, do Nantucket cranberry pie.

Sleepy.

Notes are written.

That much is certain.

Crazy night of finishing up round one of proofing.

Poor proofer one was on the phone with me for well over two hours.

Proofer two had many good notes.

I will now do a mock-up of the book and we'll proof that, then it will go to the designers.

Why shouldn't I?

Who's gonna stop me?

Where'd George get to?

Somewhere.

Not here.

Out there.

All good.
