TOD:  When there was a Chevy's on 42nd Street between 7th and 8th, I especially loved their Fresh Mex Sampler, which consisted of Chicken fajita nachos, chicken quesadilla, buffalo chicken  wings and crispy chicken flautas.

The flautas were my favorite of those, but everything on that sampler was great.

When I got out of bed this morning and the cats came running to greet me, I noticed that Stella's back was slightly damp. I was curious but not too much, and I forgot all about it. Then, at kitty cleanup Annabelle was sitting in the tub bitching at me. She usually does this when the litter box needs cleaning and she needs it. So, I cleaned up the litter, and she used it. When I was brushing my teeth, I glanced in the tub, and half of bottom had water from a clogged drain.

Post by: elmore3003 on February 04, 2025, 07:25:45 AM
WTF, I thought. The plumbers were here last month, and it seemed to be draining after my bath yesterday. So, I got the plunger. poured half a bottle of a strong drain cleaner down the drain, finished the kitchen cleanup, took the trash to the basement, and when I returned, the tub was empty. I rinsed it out, and hopefully, the cats can play safely in the tub without poisoning themselves.

I do need a plumber again.

I did not go to the gas station.  Dennis was only ONE notch below full.....so it would have only cost $5 or less to fill the tank.

At Goodwill I found a nice black pair of dress pants - which turned out to be brown when I got them home.....a yellow IZOD sweater.....a Broadway Karaoke CD....a nice necktie.....and three LPs....

Gene Pitney's Greatest Hits....Teresa Brewer Songs Everybody Knows.....and a stereo LP of the OBC of MAME with Miss Angela Lansbury [my LP copy is MONO] - and tucked inside the LP a copy of the sheet music for the title tune.  Worth $1.49 to be sure.  And a list of Vocal Selections Books Now Available!

She worked for Chelsea Music until she married and moved to Oregon. We are Facebook friends, but my last memory of seeing her was around 1987, when I last saw Mathilde Pincus at Chelsea Music. So much of her work at Chelsea was for John McGlinn projects. John told Mathilde he didn't want anyone doing his P/Cs but Christine.

Soundtrack was a gut-punch. It’s a truly ugly chapter of history, and it’s made even more so when witnesses recount Eisenhower ordering the assassination of Patrice Lumumba. And of course, the music is incredible. Louis Armstrong, Abbey Lincoln, Dizzy Gillespie, Coltrane and more.

The U.S. didn’t directly kill Lumumba. But only because someone else got there first.

DR John, so far I have not seen an egg shelf that empty.

Costco was down to brown eggs only on Friday, I was told.

Down to brown eggs? Those are the first to sell, where I live.

This morning, I actually made myself some eggs for breakfast (with melted cheese on top :) ), and I have an 18-pack of brown eggs that I actually got from Costco.  They were quite good.

Waffle House is now charging a 50-cent surcharge on egg dishes because of the egg shortage, according to NBC.

Oh, my goodness!  I need to go to Fred Meyer, so I'll have to check out what their egg section looks like. :-\

The first book listed.....DRAT! THE CAT!

That's really cool, Jrand, especially about finding the sheet music!

Tonight I am hosting a group at church. So far I have made: blueberry lemon biscottis, TWO cranberry orange cakes (the last one went so fast!), brownies with walnuts, chocolate-dipped sugar cookies, blueberry mango mini-loaves, pretzel bites, and baba ganoush.

That all sounds quite delish (except that I don't really know what baba ganoush is ::) ).

Going to visit mom today to find out how her procedure went.

I hope you have good news to report.

Thanks, Jane, but nope. :( The shot didn't really do much, so she's going to talk to a surgeon.

I mean, she said it helped a little, but not really what was expected, so the next step is the conversation.

I love guacamole. This is a recipe based on one of my favorite versions:

I'm not a fan of guacamole.  I know a lot of people who are (and not just you, John ;) ), but it's just not my thing. ::)

That 50-cent surcharge at Waffle House is per egg, not per dish.

My STATE and FEDERAL tax returns have been accepted.

Does one say congratulations for tax returns being accepted?

If so, congratulations!

Ditto on the congratulations, Jrand!

Posting, I’m here posting,

And I’ll call page seven Rupert if I may.

Too few pages and there will be hell to pay.

What’s the coolest site online?

It’s Haines His Way.

Very good, Iris!

We bought tamales.

Having never eaten a tamale, I bit right into the corn husk, not knowing it was meant to be discarded.

My friend laughed so hard , he fell down on the ground.

I never ate another tamale, but I do love chimichangas.

:)) I also like chimichangas.  But I usually get enchiladas, sometimes with tacos, or if I'm really hungry, a really big burrito.

My favorite Mexican dish is Yucatan inspired.

Baked salmon in banana leaves. I put cilantro pesto sauce on top of the salmon before baking.

FYI:  my friend David (prounounced da-VEED) is actually from Yucatan. :)

Rodzinski, has Little Girl Rodzinski’s ear infection healed?

Sending good health vibes her way.

Haha, you cornhusk-eating madwoman! Thank you for asking. She is much improved today. No ear pain. Even played out in the snow. So all signs are good at the moment. Fingers crossed.

Very good news, Rodzinski!
