Well, you've read the notes, the notes had a song by Irving Berlin, and now it is time for you to post until the Irving Berlin cows come home.

And the word of the day is: NATCH!

Loved the Irving Berlin notes! ;D
Ditto!! Also loved the Irving Berlin notes!
-
TOD: When there was a Chevy's on 42nd Street between 7th and 8th, I especially loved their Fresh Mex Sampler, which consisted of Chicken fajita nachos, chicken quesadilla, buffalo chicken wings and crispy chicken flautas.
The flautas were my favorite of those, but everything on that sampler was great.
-
As far as fast food Mexican food, Chipotle makes a terrific brisket quesadilla.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I enjoyed the Berlin notes, but I couldn't figure out the source.
-
I've canceled my Access-a-Ride for today; my body hurts too much. I'll cll after 9:00 and reschedule my appointment.
-
DR ChasSmith, I'll scan some of Christine's P/C pages later today and post them.

Good morning, all.

DR ChasSmith, I'll scan some of Christine's P/C pages later today and post them.
Thank you!!
-
What is today? Tuesday, I believe?
I have a lot to get done today, and I have my rescheduled dinner meeting with director friend this evening.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
And others.
-
Today is National Homemade Soup Day.
-
Fun Berlin notes.
-
TOD: Mexican. I am scratching my head to think of anything I don't like.
-
Great Berlin notes.
-
Meeting and rehearsal vibes for MR BK.
-
I'm going to drop by the Goodwill today to see if there are any Goodwillies to be had.
Then I'll fill up Dennis the Smart Car with petrol and head to Ollie's. I have a 15% off your entire order coupon that expires next week.
-
My Goodwill has been out of frozen meatballs for 14 days.
I paid $2.96 for one half dozen eggs yesterday.
-
Good morning, all.
-
All hail, Irving.
-
Today is National Homemade Soup Day.
And I have pot pie leftovers.
-
TOD: Mexican. I am scratching my head to think of anything I don't like.
Amen. But I will try.
-
Pescado Veracruz is a French-inspired dish with fish cooked in a buttery tomato sauce with olives, capers and more.
What is it, fish?
-
Anything with a tomatillo sauce on it, such as chicken enchiladas. Love it so much, I tried growing my own tomatillos, which are beautiful but need a lot of TLC.
-
Two!
-
Have to take the car in for repairs.
-
I made Chicken Veracruz once, just on a whim from browsing through a book, and loved that olives/capers combination. Wait, I've made it with something other than chicken, too. Don't remember now. But thank you for the reminder.
-
It took 40 minutes to walk home from the car place. I get the car back around noon Thursday.
-
Huevos rancheros, fried eggs topped with a spicy tomato sauce, are a favorite.
-
TOD: Mexican. I am scratching my head to think of anything I don't like.
Same here!
-
A breakfast taco in a homemade tortilla is an everyday delight. The best is a pork chop taco, with the pork chop whole, bone included, wrapped in a steaming hot corn tortilla.
-
TOD: Mexican. I am scratching my head to think of anything I don't like.
Same here!
Yeah, count me in.
-
You wanna know something I've never eaten, though? You'll laugh. I've never tried one.
A tamale!
-
Which is probably like admitting in a Chinese food discussion that you never had chop suey.
Oh wait.
-
When I got out of bed this morning and the cats came running to greet me, I noticed that Stella's back was slightly damp. I was curious but not too much, and I forgot all about it. Then, at kitty cleanup Annabelle was sitting in the tub bitching at me. She usually does this when the litter box needs cleaning and she needs it. So, I cleaned up the litter, and she used it. When I was brushing my teeth, I glanced in the tub, and half of bottom had water from a clogged drain.
-
WTF, I thought. The plumbers were here last month, and it seemed to be draining after my bath yesterday. So, I got the plunger. poured half a bottle of a strong drain cleaner down the drain, finished the kitchen cleanup, took the trash to the basement, and when I returned, the tub was empty. I rinsed it out, and hopefully, the cats can play safely in the tub without poisoning themselves.
I do need a plumber again.
-
You wanna know something I've never eaten, though? You'll laugh. I've never tried one.
A tamale!
Soooooo good!
-
It sure does!
-
It has to be true - he's too stupid to figure out all of these things he is doing. Someone with an agenda is behind it all.
And YOU know he's being paid billions of dollars to do his nefarious, illegal, and unconstitutional things.
-
TOD:
I had a nice chicken fajita a couple of months ago.....which I will have again if I ever return to that place.
-
I have the rest of what may be the LAST of my meatballs/tomatoes/corn bake for today.
-
I went back and redid my taxes and the "owed" total was less than 1/3 what it had been.
Some of my figures were in the wrong place....story of my life.

It sure does!

DR Singdaw, Josephine is beautiful.
-
Singdaw, I always wanted to live in a beautiful Victorian home.
-
DR John, so far I have not seen an egg shelf that empty.
-
Currently I have just under two dozen eggs in the fridge. I watch for long experation dates and the best price possible. Since I only purchase pasture fed eggs they are often more difficult to find.

They can be so wonderful. On the two-mile trek home this morning, I passed two tamal makers. I was sorely tempted to drop in one.

Watching an artifact of a different era: For Love or Money with Kirk Douglas, Mitzi Gaynor and Thelma Ritter.

Down to brown eggs? Those are the first to sell, where I live.
-
Chevy’s had good flautas, that’s a fact.
-
Their chimichangas were quite good, too.
-

Texas is a cheaper place. Those cost more.

Waffle House is now charging a 50-cent surcharge on egg dishes because of the egg shortage, according to NBC.

Waffle House.....White House......who can tell the difference?
-
I did not go to the gas station. Dennis was only ONE notch below full.....so it would have only cost $5 or less to fill the tank.
At Goodwill I found a nice black pair of dress pants - which turned out to be brown when I got them home.....a yellow IZOD sweater.....a Broadway Karaoke CD....a nice necktie.....and three LPs....
Gene Pitney's Greatest Hits....Teresa Brewer Songs Everybody Knows.....and a stereo LP of the OBC of MAME with Miss Angela Lansbury [my LP copy is MONO] - and tucked inside the LP a copy of the sheet music for the title tune. Worth $1.49 to be sure. And a list of Vocal Selections Books Now Available!
The first book listed.....DRAT! THE CAT!

I have given the pair of keets some walnuts.....but they are not impressed.

Good afternoon.

TOD: Chilaquiles. With my Birding Buddy. At Alfonso's in Payson.
-
Tonight I am hosting a group at church. So far I have made: blueberry lemon biscottis, TWO cranberry orange cakes (the last one went so fast!), brownies with walnuts, chocolate-dipped sugar cookies, blueberry mango mini-loaves, pretzel bites, and baba ganoush.
-
My DH bought eggs from the restaurant supply store - so I had some left. I used quite a few today. I have no idea how much eggs are these days.
-
TOD: Mexican. I am scratching my head to think of anything I don't like.

-
DR Jrand are you happy with your brown pants since they aren't black.
-
I purchased a velvet hoodie once and was surprised to find it was a different color once I was out in the sunlight. I slightly preferred the green color it appeared inside the store but was fine with the actual pretty brown color.

There was a vocal selections published for Drat! The Cat! ??
-
Okay, I see some sheet music and I do sort of recognize it.
And there's the LIVE original cast recording -- which I gather is so bad sounding it's not even worth it? I can take less than great sound, but everyone's comments about this one make it sound like you'd be rueing the day...
-
DR JANE....LOL....I guess I should have divided my shopping by location.
-
Apparantly DR CHAS SMITH by my Goodwill purchase.
-
There was a vocal selections published for Drat! The Cat! ??
Yes. I had a copy. All of my vocakl selections are now in my collection at Miami University Library.
-
DR ChasSmith, here are Christine Ambrose's first two pages of the P/C she created from my orchestra score for the Show Boat recording.

I couldn't hear much worth inviting a repeat listening. Elliot Gould is no Jason Grace.

I've started Soundtrack to a Coup d'Etat, which is up for the Oscar for best documentary. It won't win, but it is awfully good.

She worked for Chelsea Music until she married and moved to Oregon. We are Facebook friends, but my last memory of seeing her was around 1987, when I last saw Mathilde Pincus at Chelsea Music. So much of her work at Chelsea was for John McGlinn projects. John told Mathilde he didn't want anyone doing his P/Cs but Christine.

Did Chili's flaunt their flautas?
-
Back from a nice lunch with our choreographer. We have our plan and it should all work well. Certain numbers I'll at least get on their feet and sketch out and then she comes and makes it better.

You might recall that I was very concerned in the last two elections for congress and scared that the "Nazi" would win.

I don't really have to leave until around six-ten.

On the way back from one of our outings during our stay in Oaxaca we stopped at an outdoor restaurant for lunch. We had delicious guacamole with delicious fresh chips, and cubes of the best Oaxaca cheese.

I wopuld love this as a print!

I don’t think I have ever had spicy guacamole. Even with peppers, everything seems creamy to me.

Five!

Soundtrack was a gut-punch. It’s a truly ugly chapter of history, and it’s made even more so when witnesses recount Eisenhower ordering the assassination of Patrice Lumumba. And of course, the music is incredible. Louis Armstrong, Abbey Lincoln, Dizzy Gillespie, Coltrane and more.
-
The U.S. didn’t directly kill Lumumba. But only because someone else got there first.

TOD:
A funny and embarrassing story.
-
I had never tried Mexican food until I moved to Phoenix in 1975.
The Arizona State Fair was going on, so I decided to check it out with a friend.
-
We bought tamales.
Having never eaten a tamale, I bit right into the corn husk, not knowing it was meant to be discarded.
-
My friend laughed so hard , he fell down on the ground.
I never ate another tamale, but I do love chimichangas.

I can’t remember why, it was something we were copying from a Libby’s ad, but we would remove labels from our veggie cans and make our own Libby’s labels with paper and markers.

Hope there is good news for DR George's mom.

When we were kids, that is. Not, like, recently.

I mean, she said it helped a little, but not really what was expected, so the next step is the conversation.

I love guacamole. This is a recipe based on one of my favorite versions:
https://sagealphagal.com/homemade-guacamole-inspired-by-boudros/
I'm not a fan of guacamole. I know a lot of people who are (and not just you, John ;) ), but it's just not my thing. ::)

My STATE and FEDERAL tax returns have been accepted.
Does one say congratulations for tax returns being accepted?
If so, congratulations!
Ditto on the congratulations, Jrand!

We bought tamales.
Having never eaten a tamale, I bit right into the corn husk, not knowing it was meant to be discarded.
:o
-
My friend laughed so hard , he fell down on the ground.
I never ate another tamale, but I do love chimichangas.
:)) I also like chimichangas. But I usually get enchiladas, sometimes with tacos, or if I'm really hungry, a really big burrito.

George, sending good health vibes to your mom. ❤️
Thanks, Iris.

Gratuitous Post #250!! :D

My favorite Mexican dish is Yucatan inspired.
Baked salmon in banana leaves. I put cilantro pesto sauce on top of the salmon before baking.
FYI: my friend David (prounounced da-VEED) is actually from Yucatan. :)

Just had to share.

I have applied for substitute teaching. We'll see.
Good luck, John!

Rodzinski, has Little Girl Rodzinski’s ear infection healed?
Sending good health vibes her way.
Haha, you cornhusk-eating madwoman! Thank you for asking. She is much improved today. No ear pain. Even played out in the snow. So all signs are good at the moment. Fingers crossed.
Very good news, Rodzinski!
