Well, you've read the notes, the notes were complicated but fun, and now it is time for you to post until the complicated but fun cows come home.

And the word of the day is: EUPHORIC!

~~~Vibes for a Modern Major Miracle for BK!!~~~
-
A Question for BK: I'm sure that you don't want to talk (or even post) about how you want to change the "ballet" as mentioned in your notes, but can you say how it was originally done and what you don't like about it? I have no idea what it was like, but it'd be interesting to know about it. :)
-
Good morning, all!
-
I decided to sleep in this morning, and so I did.
-
Some kind soul gave me several years ago a jar of huckleberry jam. I wish they would send me another. This one's almost empty, and it's quite addictive, expecially on Italian bread with loads of butter.
-
Now that I've finished my taxes, I can return today to my iTunes mess. I'm dying to hear Drat! The Cat! All I need to do is find it on my iTunes.
-
More vibes for BK to have a modern major miracle!
-
On the streaming show front, I've been really captivated by ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL this season even more than other seasons.
The opening theme music promises a much sunnier show than is actually there, and that seems to be a good thing.
-
Good morning, friends.
There’s a major Lempicka show in San Francisco now that I wanted to see. I’ve learned that it’s coming to Houston.
-
I might take a drive over one day.
Wednesday.
MMM vibes for MR BK. Staging the number vibes as well.
Congrats on dropping the dead weight.
DR FREDDIE we got a message on the FB page demanding that we do at least one show a year the stars KIDS.
They don't want to hear my answer to that.
My question for ASK BK DAY:
Who was your favorite advertising sidekick? Bucky Beaver, Tony the Tiger, etc.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Kind of late this morning. But it IS still morning, at least.
-
DR George asked about the Drat! ballet, and I'd like to know something about that, too. I'd actually like to know more about the show in general, that isn't talked about in the CD liner notes.
-
My errand for the day will be filling a couple of gas cans. Another snowblower run or two, and it will be time to replenish. Best to do it now.
-
We're getting some
sh stuff tonight which may not amount to much more than an ugly mix, but it might even get rained on and warmed enough tomorrow to not require a lot of work. That is the hope, anyway.
-
DR John we watched the first episode of season nine of Brokenwood.
-
Before we began watching my headache finally went away :)
-
Thank you DR Jeanne.
-
And thank you again DR Jeanne..
-
From Jeanne:
Nice story tonight on the PBS Newshour about the efforts in Altadena to set up a new school quickly so the kids would have in-person classes, see their friends, and have a sense of continuity. Not only did their school burn, but many also lost their homes.
This is very nice to read.
-
Yes good news from DR GEORGE.
When I was in my twenties, when we attended a wedding, my old relatives used to elbow me and laugh and say: "You're next!"
So I started doing the same thing to them - at funerals.
Wordle: 5/6
Rodzinski I expect your border town to be different considering children there go to school in Canada.
DR Kevin, Wordle in three would have been more appropriate for the page ;)
As expected, Keith tested negative this morning.
-
I hid while he dealt with the installation of our new oven and cooktop.
Yes, and two would be even better!
This morning I got up at 630, dressed and shoveled the steps and pathway
Then vixdad used the snowblower on the driveway while I cleaned off the cars
-
Then I took out the trash and recycling
-
Then off to the Lidl where I bought EGGS
-
They had just put them out and I was literally the only shopper
-
I had arrived just as doors were opening
-
I bought the limit ( 2 dozen) since I was completely out and haven't seen any in the local.shops for a week
5.35 a dozen
I gassed up my car Monday night at 2.71 a gallon
I'm up, I'm up - over nine hours of sleep.
-
Must go do a quick errand before ordering food.
-
I always liked Tony the Tiger.
-
Tony the Tiger is good and he's still around.
-
Good news about KEITH.
DR JANE we need photographic evidence of the new cooktop and oven.
New kitchen items are always fun....and there's always something to learn.
-
Not much happening here....and that is just fine with me!
-
The theft of the Japanese Idol's diamond eyes was originally done as a Kabuki thing. I'm sure Joe Layton made that a lot of fun in 1965. I did not want to deal with a whole set of those costumes and I don't think Kabuki and everyone having committed Hara Kiri at the end of the ballet is that amusing. So, I came up with something I thought could be fun and amusing and we'll see if I can pull it off. I also don't think this particular moment in time, as per my Japanese cast member, would be conducive to a bunch of white people in Japanese get-up even if we did masks, although if I loved the concept I'd do it anyway. :) I wanted something that would play to the kind of thing I do well and that I felt is more in the style of the show itself.
I'll try.
The Canadian made FB page is interesting. I don't recognize most of the products.
-
I did not know that Vortman cookies were made in Canada, or that they made vanilla wafers.
-
DR Rodzinski have Canadians stopped crossing the border to buy gas?
Not that I know of.
Have you noticed any other tensions?
On a local chat board some people want to raise a Canadian flag next to an American one at our community to show support. Others argue against this.
-
Rodzinski I expect your border town to be different considering children there go to school in Canada.
Lot of dual citizens here and Canadians who depend on coming here for cheaper package delivery. A few ornery crackpots, but this is the rare rural but left-leaning community.
-
Now THAT'S a page turn photo!
-
I know. I want them all.
-
I guess I did see some signs offering cash discounts per liter of gas, so I don’t know if that’s in reaction to Canadians boycotting here. Canadian gas is so expensive. But if they were to boycott for any length of time, it would absolutely destroy the 4 gas stations here.
-
Last episode of Succession season one
I hope the gas stations survive this.
I got Wicked from the library today.
-
I may watch it tonight.
-
Jane. I'm glad your headache is gone.
-
Thank you. I was very relieved not to have to suffer one more night.
-
Keith took photos. I will see if I can downsize one of them.
-
We went with fun red knobs on the new oven and cooktop.
-
I also got Lin-Manuel Miranda's score for Mufasa from the library. It's all of 17 minutes long. That's odd for a movie billed as a musical.
-
Glad you're feeling better DR JANE.
-
Very interesting MR BK......
-
Back from errand. We're gonna announce the new book tomorrow or Friday, as soon as we can get the page up for ordering, although I may just announce it anyway, just to let everyone know what it is.
-
Cool beans.
-
I got two Billy Wilder films from the library today: Irma la Douce and The Front Page. I didn't like Irma the only time I saw it, because I thought it should have been the musical. But I always like The Front Page, though it's been 40 years since I last saw this version. We'll see if I have the same response to both films.
Alison Martino (a.k.a. "Vintage Los Angeles" on FB) posted a couple of postcards of the Skytrails Restaurant & Bar at Van Nuys Airport back in the day. I posted that I think I have another image of it, and when I find it, I'll post it later. So, since it was bugging me that I couldn't just put my finger on it, I went off on a hunt that took me to three or four likely places it could possibly be. And wouldn't you know it, one of those places revealed something I'd been torturing myself looking for over the past few MONTHS, an absolutely joyous discovery. But then wouldn't you know it, that thing in turn sent me off in another direction for something else that had also been on my mind, and I eventually found that stuff. But along the way, I spotted a little stack of things I'd been putting off going through for the past few YEARS, so I set that on my desk to look through as soon as I was done with the everything else. I finally got to that, and in so doing, discovered something I'd been thinking was lost YEARS AGO, which, along with a few other little goodies in that stack, totally made my afternoon. It was a heady couple of hours, I can assure you, and I even got to put off some musical stuff I absolutely have to do. So the hell with it, I'll get to that tomorrow.
The only bad thing? I still haven't found the very first thing I went looking for.
But hope reigns eternal. Right?
-
Glad you're feeling better DR JANE.
LOL DR Chas. I hope you find what you were originally searching for.
-
There is not an easy way to reduce the size of a photo before sending. What I do then is take a snapshot of the photo and crop it. It then gives me the option to make it smaller before sending.
While the photo might not be as sharp as I like, it is easy and works.
My problem is, after I send it to my email it never arrives. I have no idea where it has gone.
-
It finally worked. I'll see if I can post it now.
-
New refrigerator, oven (just the oven with the red knobs), and the cooktop.
-
It looks sooooo much better in person.
-
My ice cream was very hard. I've moved it from the bottom shelf of the freezer to the less convenient top drawer. Hopefully it will be easier to scoop from now on.
-
Already I can notice the carrots are staying fresh instead of going floppy after a day or two.
-
Very nice DR JANE. Thanks for sharing.
-
LOL DR CHAS SMITH isn't that always the way......
-
No s**w or rain so far.....so I think that's a plus.
Yesterday in got it in three, the same as today :)
Guess I'll shower and then be on my way to the theater around six.
Timberwolves lot by two points tonight....Luka didn't get off the bench.
Well, after an aimless start, Wicked gained its footing when it got to the Emerald City.
But I did not like the pastel color palette and almost faded look of the film. It didn’t have to look like The Wizard of Oz, but it needed that richness of color. The ruby slippers were kind of wan.
It's time for bed.
Good night, all.
Just starting the notes now. So, late again, sorry.
It's fun reading about BK's early rehearsal process. We just had our final dress rehearsal for La sonnambula and open on Friday. It should be a great show - our principals are wonderful and the music is so gorgeous. Our friend who attended the dress (spouse of our trumpet player) really enjoyed it.
-
The soprano and tenor leads in particular have crazily difficult roles and are doing a fantastic job with them. And we have luxury casting for two of the smaller roles.
-
In the chorus, we're finally getting used to being onstage all the time (well, all but about 20 minutes). Our chorus director and conductor/director were both happy.
