vixmom - Yes, we'll be having a hainsies/kimlets dinner for dear reader Hisaka, and I'll be excorting her around town quite a bit.
That is wonderful. I am looking forward to seeingmany lovel pictures and hearing many lovely tales~
BK, you'll be "excorting" Hisaka around a lot. Does that word mean you'll be excoriating her while you're escorting her?
Yes, I'll be excorting Hisaka.
CROSSING JORDAN picked up where it left off last season with Henry Winkler now head of the Boston morgue. Since Henry has a new sitcom on CBS this season, I was interested to see how they were going to write him out of the series.
And today's squishy food report: A sesame seed bagel overflowing with a very smelly cream cheese.
And now she's digging for gold (translated: Picking her nose). Who raised this girl!?!?!
Oh! I read in the Times today that THE COLOR PURPLE is now known as "Oprah Winfrey Presents THE COLOR PURPLE." Ms. Winfrey is contributing $1 Million to produce the show. She will also be featuring cast members on her TV show to promote ticket sales. This will be Ms. Winfrey's first venture in theatrical producing.
I wish her better luck than Rosie O'Donnell had on her venture in play producing!
Good morning!
Again, the sun was behind overcast skies this morning, so I did take my walk. Not as enjoyable as it could be, but it wasn't quite as muggy this morning as yesterday.
Good Morning!
And what a perfect way to start the day! I power up my computer, start up Safari (my web browser), and the first thing I see is this:
Lestat Will Sing at Broadway's Palace Starting March 11, 2006 (http://www.playbill.com/news/article/95302.html)
Let the countdown begin!
:D
Of course, Rosie fronted the entire $10-14 million for TABOO, I believe.
$1 million is pretty much chicken feed in producing a musical these days.
DR Jose, if that's the opening performance at the Palace, when does your contract start? How much time does the orchestra have with the cast before the first preview?
Shall we reserve a HHW row now for the premiere ;D
...And there seemed to a particularly noticeable boost in the level of applause when the orchestra was acknowledged during curtain calls, accompanied by shouts of "What is it, fish?" by various and sundried members of the audience.
Ohio?
. -And I still need to track down "The Revenge of the Red Balloon" that came out in 2000.
Yes, DR Jason, I'd say Whitney Houston's NAME is as important to the producers of the show as her money. I'd think they need to tap every potential audience for this even though it is based on a popular book and a smash hit movie.
I can see it now...
From the New York Times - Arts Section, April 14, 2006...;D
...And as soon as know what the house seat policy is for this show, trust me, I'll be sure to pass that information on to everyone!
Did they postpone first preview of OPRAH WINFREY presents THE COLOR PURPLE? I thought they were starting previews mid-October...?

??? Whitney Houston? Doncha mean Oprah Winfrey? ;)
Lestat sets out on a road of adventures in a quest for everlasting love and companionship but is forced to reconcile his innate sense of good with his primal need to exist.
I noticed for the first time last night that the guy who plays John - Gabby's boyfriend - has a huge tattoo on his upper back which they tried - semi-successfully - to cover with makeup. I could see the dark blue sort of coming through and they were VERY careful to shoot around it.
RETOUR DE MARTIN GUERRE (not fond of what was musicalized, though)
I also enjoyed DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES very much.
DISCUSSION OF LAST NIGHT's SHOW:
Interesting that Mary Alice is still the narrator. I was not sure if they would change that.
Also, who was that locked up at the end? The husband?

DR vixmom - You asked a few days ago about The Kite Runner. My book group did read it in March and I'm pretty sure Jane has read it, too. It was Cincinnati's choice for the spring 2005 On the Same Page (http://www.cincinnatilibrary.org/samepage/2005/tkrbook.html) program. We'll talk next week!
Good morning, all! I'm later than usual today because my father and I made the trek to my mother's grave. We had a lovely visit, he cried, I said a prayer, and we left. I'm now ensconced at the library for a couple of hours.
Yesterday was the big fish fry, which was a pleasant family gathering. Lasf night, I stayed in and watched LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT and FINDING JORDAN.
This evening is my dinner with DRGinny and Richard. Tomorrow, Miami University, Wednesday a fast run to CD Connection for used CDs and DVDs, laundry, and the Dayton airport. I will stop in tomorrow morning before I go to Oxford.

DRJane has indeed read it, and she sent me a copy while I was convalescing. Wonderful book, but I found it quite painful. Sent me back to Patrick Dennis with a new appreciation.
have lovely visit with Ginny & Hubby
have you solved the mystery of the "What is it Fish?" yet?
Wouldn't it be interesting if THE COLOR PURPLE musical becomes a hit and is made into a movie with Oprah once again taking the role of Sofia?
"The Kite Runner" is a must-read, huh? Should I check it out?
It is a painful, revealing story, with some terrible imagery, told in the first person (the person I wanted to slap several times during his telling of the story) but overall it is a good read (or listen in my case)
We've moved on from the nose-picking and bagel-eating to a Granny Smith apple.
Smack smack!
...I think I'll just wait for the musical version of it.
;)
Well, here it is already -- "the day after tomorrow" I've been dreading since Saturday morning.
Sigh.
Oh, well...there'll always be another weekend in the future....and on and on and on...
BTW... I sent in my questionnaire Jose. My goodness but you have given yourself alot of work to do tallying all the results of all those questions.
I very much appreciate all the work you are putting into this event
I'm geting nervous about the walking/eating tour. I shall have farina at every stop and the Vixter will be banned from eating anything at all! ;D
:-*
There really isn't that much to tally. The big question I was concerned about was about food allergies. Just good to be aware just in case we happen to stop at a place where all the ingredients in a particular food may not be visible or listed.
Ginny at the moment it sounds as if my kitchen is falling apart, and it is. :D
So did anyone go to the Broadway Flea Market? (sorry if i missed any posts).
What kinds of stuff were there and did anyone buy anything?
DR Ben - I'd read about Silk Stockings and considered trying for next Monday, but decided to remain available for Splash instead. Have you heard anything about Walking Down Broadway?
These kids today, I tell you...
I hate when they wear the low jeans with the short tops so you can see the tattoo just above their ASS. That gives me GAS, and I think I'll PASS.
I am feeling very bad today. All of this rain is playing havoc with my allergies and all. Time for pills and bed.

It smells like cat food.
It IS cat food.
Day one and we have had our first glitch. As they are removing the back splash the drywall is coming off with the tile. I hope all the glitches as this easy to fix.
I perfectly understand your point of view, DR Ben. Everyone has different interests, hobbies, even collecting or not collecting things. What would thrill me would be met by indifference by most. That's the name of the beast called human beings.
DR Jose: Have a loverly date.
Hey! If I can get some comps to the Met in the next couple of weeks, you wanna go? Anything in particular you'd like to see? I'm curious about ARIADNE AUF NAXOS, but my heart isn't set on it...
Let me know.
No one has used the word of the day - too hard, too?
DR Ben, some of my favorite people are curmudgeons!
Prom photo of what current Broadway leading man? :o
And now she's having popcorn. Aren't you glad I'm updating you on everything the Carrot-Stick Girl is eating? Is it annoying? I bet it's not as annoying as sitting right across from her while she eats this stuff!!
They're kinda like DRMattH's comments on his day: a bit here, a bit there . . .
Glad you're reading them.
Or maybe skipping them.
Whatever.
Wow...Norbert was a stocky boy in high school, too! It gives me hope.
You mean I have three options? Brain meltdown!
Norbert was my favorite WIN at the last Tony Awards ceremony. What a great showcase he had with that song, too!
"The Chorus" and "The Triplets of Belville" are my favourite French films of recent vintage.

Today (Sept 27) is the birthday of Mr Aday aka Mr Loaf.
I hope DR Danise remembered to send an appropriate card.
Larry, I also am baffled by not only actors, but anyone marring their flesh with these huge unattractive tatoos. There are a lot of twenty-somethings who when their forty-something are going to be embarrassed by tatoos sagging and heading south on their bods. They'll always be a reminder to them of their stupidity. I like flesh too much to see it pierced, painted, or implanted. It just ain't natural.
These kids today, I tell you...

When you have a garlic, try to have a cup of Japanese green tea after the meal or before you go to bed and the odor would disappear magically from you in the next morning. Yes, it WORKS!
I know that Danise arrives on Saturday, October 1st and I think Mr. Barnum makes his first appearance in New York on that fabled day as well. I, unfortunately (or not actually), am busy all day. I have to work until about 2pm. At 5:30 we're having dinner with another dear old friend we haven't seen for about 2 years. After that, she's off to the theatre and we are off to see a friend's Drag Pageant. He's the host (and the only one not in drag). It's a fundraiser for a gay/lesbian AA group in NY. They have a big get together every Thanksgiving for those who don't have families or choose not to return to their families at that time. Five years ago they had a "pageant" to choose the first Miss Sobriety. It was such a success that it's been going on ever since. Very funny and very well done.
After that I am free to partake in many HHW activities. Right now I am about to sign off and attend to Mr. Simbulan's questionnaire.
Shall we reserve a HHW row now for the premiere ;D

I've never seen "The Chorus," but I did thoroughly enjoy "The Triples of Belleville."
Is "Splash (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088161/)[/url]" being made into a musical?? I guess if they can do "The Little Mermaid" anything is possible! ;)
I've never seen "The Chorus," but I did thoroughly enjoy "The Triples of Belleville."Wasn't that a STAR TREK episode???
Danise, Ginny and Cillaliz I am now booked into The Comfort Inn Midtown!! I’m checking in sometime late afternoon or early evening on the 4th, leaving the morning of the 10th.
DR CILLA LIZ there are collectors for EVERYTHING!!
Walty is considering getting a tattoo on his lower back. It would say Pet Me Here.
DR Jose, I saw the Playbill article online and sat up in my recliner and cheered! Count me in on a ticket!
Vixmom, it is just the backsplash. I'm just wishing all our problems to be this minor.
You didn't respond to my jet-lag comment-LOL.
I enjoyed Medium and Arrested development tonight. I tried Kitchen Confidential and it was ok... I was busy trying to sort out all the characters
MattH when is CSI going to be on this week? I thought it was tonoight but it was CSI Miami which I have troule watching because I get fixated on the crater beneath whatshisfaces' nose
Anyway. i am glad you had a nice date Jose.
I am off to bed. Night all!!
I thought KITCHEN CONFIDENTIAL started off fairly slow but by the halfway point, it was engaging and I ended up enjoying it OK.I had der B tape it, and we watched it after he was finished with his own stack of shows. I thought it was funny, had potential, but he already thinks it will just last six eps, total.
