Well, you've read the notes, the notes felt like act two - a little rough, but we got through it, and now it is time for you to post until the second act cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: DULCET!

And now - Dino at the piano.

Yesterday, Jane wrote: "DR George I miss hiking. Have a wonderful day."
Thanks, Jane! I did!
-
To repeat from last night, this is the route that David and I walked:
-
We figured that we walked just over 6 miles! And a LOT of that was uphill! :P
-
Here are a few pictures that I took. First, a random moss-covered tree:
-
Here's the hat that I wore. Two different people that we passed said that they liked it! ;D
-
Here's a random shot of one of the rivers:
-
A big tree that fell (or was felled):
-
Here's David in between the cut pieces of an even BIGGER tree:
-
And this is the road after going through the main trail system:
-
I didn't know about Seabrook. Apparently, it's small, unincorporated town where everything was designed to look like a New England ocean town (or something like that). I really only got this picture before my camera's battery died. ::)
-
We had dinner at a pizza parlor there and it wasn't too bad...a little pricey, but good.
-
We walked around the town a bit then decided to leave. I didn't realize that the town was pretty much right on the ocean:
-
We were in the car at this point, so it was a surprise that we even saw the water. Then we left and came home. David was really tired, so he's downstairs sleeping on the couch instead of driving home. He'll leave in the morning (probably before I get up ::) ) because he's meeting another friend back in Seattle in the late morning.
-
And now, I need to sleep. I'm working bar/concessions for an event at South Puget Sound Community College and need to be there by noon-thirty. Then, I'll come home.
Good night and good morning, all!
-
George - Thanks for sharing your photos and story from your day of hiking yesterday.
So glad you had a good time!
-
BK, I really enjoyed your "Chicken fried steak at the Coral Cafe" in last night's posts!
And thanks also to Rodzinski, for suggesting the song title!
-
Good morning, all.
-
An ungodly early one for me on a Sunday, but I must get me to the church on time and all that.
-
Yesterday was like spring, and now we’re back in the sub-freezing temperatures for a couple of days. It’s 18 out there.
-
Later!
-
Good morning, all!
-
DR ChasSmith, did you not see Mr Filichia at the ballet screening last March? He wwas there for the first act.
-
DR ChasSmith, did you not see Mr Filichia at the ballet screening last March? He wwas there for the first act.
I remember knowing he was there, but that might even have been after the fact. I didn't know to get up to see him or say hi or anything.
-
Well, I slept rather well. Thatch and I were having such a good time playing this moprning that, instead of getting up with the alarm, I stayed in bed to play with him and Annabelle more. My little Thatch is a Floyd Collins, always looking for caves to hide in and chill out, so I created one out of the bed clothes, and he was delighted to crawl in and look out onto the world. He was very cute.
-
Annabelle has decided that my new tea cart was a gift for her, and whenever I need to use it now, I have to get a crowbar to pry her off the damnmed thing. Then, when I turn my back, she jumps back onto it and refuses to move. She loves it when I push her around on it.
What I would love to do, but my walking/shopping days are over, is to taker her to a superrmarket and push her around oin a shopping cart.
-
DR George, those are wonderful photos. Thanks for sharing them.
-
I am doing very little today, maybe some iTunes work, maybe finish my mystery.
-
Page 2 Dance!
-
BK, thanks for the tip on the Bob Mackie documentary. I think I'll look for it tonight.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Slept through the night. Had odd dreams about knowing a family of brothers who designed the interiors of concentration camps.
-
403 Guests on HHW - and on a Sunday morning!
It may not quite be the 411 Guests from the other day, but one thing can be said with certainty: that 403 is still more than 400!
-
Good morning to all
-
I’m am curious. For those on the west coast what kind of programming does ABC air after the Oscars that the East coast doesn’t see?
-
Hi Michael!
What's showing after the Oscars tonight here on the East Coast? Is it another "Live with Kelly and Mark" after the Oscars show?
-
The Oscars promise to be a combination of protests and glamour. What better way to get into the mood than this favorite mix of a protest song with high fashion:
Debbie Reynolds - "If I Had a Hammer"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ng2Ls4OA2k4
-
Always love that one, DR Freddie.

Good morning, friends.

I was looking at some more older Scarlet Street magazines and there was a letter from DR RON PULLIAM about musical soundtracks, a review of The First Nudie Musical DVD release, a couple of letters from MR BK.
It was quite the popular magazine.

Hello everyone... with Concord Theatricals releasing this past week the new Off-Broadway cast recording of I Can Get It For You Wholesale, I thought it would be great to look at the Broadway career of Harold Rome on the Broadway Radio Show. Check it out!

The pair of keets are singing a lot today.
I'm not sure if it is because of the sunshine or if it's because I am still home and they are not alone.
My guess is The Former.

Thanks for looking for it.
The Kritzerland CD came out in fall 2005. I think the article would have come out in Scarlet Street around then.
I'm wondering whether it was BK who actually conducted that interview with us.
-
DR John I could almost taste your cake with that wonderful description.

From DR John:
I've started Stacy Abrams' latest romance thriller, Power of Persuasion.
I didn't realize, or remember, that she is also an author. Have you read any of her other books?

I have read her thrillers, which are good. This is the first of her romance novels I have read. It’s effective. Not great, but entertaining.

J.B. got some shrimp today. He’s very happy.

Having those photos are good in case you get lost. When I hiked the trails in Ashland often hikers would show me the photo of where they entered and ask how to get back to it.

DR MichaelG, did you say you're on to Othello next? Listening to a Met rebroadcast from 2015 right now.
Yes, DR singdaw, Otello is next with chorus rehearsals starting in just three weeks. Who's the Otello on the broadcast?

One of the supplements is the Raymond Burr version, which adds footage and is 15 minutes shorter. I’ll give it a try.

Gratuitous post 101!

A topical cream might help with that.

The Raymond Burr scenario is interesting. Sure, it’s the Great White Narrator here to frame the story from a white perspective, but the story is tighter, if less personal.
-
I might be here for some of the Oscar broadcast tonight, but only if I can stand to have it on. I have only morbid curiosity, not any actual interest. I've seen hardly anything new over the past year (I surely must be forgetting something?) and I wouldn't enter any horses in the race anyway.
I really want to avoid the extracurricular political, etc., nonsense. Not that it's truly nonsense, but my side or the other side, doesn't matter. I just don't want to hear it.
-
I also think it does absolutely zero good.

I agree and really don't feel as if it belongs at award ceremonies.

Agreed.
-
It might actually do harm.

Weirdly weird dreams.

So, I can't find any seven-day free trials to watch the Oscars, so let's have full and detailed reportage, please.

The ending of the two Godzillas could not be more different. In the Japanese version, Tagaski Shimua warns the world of the dangers of nuclear experimentation. In the American version, we get a smug Raymond Burr saying nothing of value.

This has been teacart-from-hell day, beginning with the fact that Annabelle regards it as her personal property. This morning, while I cauight up on yesterday's posts and drank my coffee, she lay in the cart next to me. Later, when I began kitty cleanup, I had to fight her for the cart. I put the dirty cat dishes onto the top tier, while I retrieved their kibnble dishes from the bottom tier. As I was doing thta, Annabelle leaped onto the cart andll four paws in several dishes of uneaten kitty breakfast. She got off that cart pretty damn quick.
-
So, this afternoon around 1:00 Ann camne down to visit. Jen has been sick all week with the norovirus, and I'm a bit concerned with my possibility of catching it. So, we had a nice visit, Ann left just before 2:00, and I started preparing my dinner and the cats'. I took care of the cats, went back to my cooking and loaded up the cart withan almost empty 2-liter bottle of Classic Coke, a full glass of Coke, and a full plate of food. I pushed the cartout of the kitchen and one of the back wheels fell off, the cart tilted and was stopped from falling by my table, the glass fell over, spilliong Coke all over the cart and the floor. Because of the edge running around the tiers of the cart, nothing broke opr fell top the floor. And there I stood in a puddle of Classic coke, trying to hold a cart upright while I quickly as possible transferred everything on the cart to either the table or the floor.
-
Now, what the fat hell do I do? I wondered. First I went into the kitchen, grabbed a lot of paper towels, and spread them all over the spill. Then I sat down and ate my dinner.
-
Then, I turned the empty cart over to see about replacing the wheel. I went to the bathroom, got the mop, mopped the floor with clean water, sat on the floor and tried to screw the wheel back into its socket. Curiously, the top of the screw was not designed for any screwdriver known to man, so after several tries, I got the super glue and glued the sucker in. Thern I called Ann and asked her to help me.
-
Ann came down, helped me gently right the cart, and while I put everything back into the various tiers of the cart, she helped me tidy up. Then . . . Annabelle - remember her? she thinks the cart is her property - decided to check out what we were doing to her cart. And she jumped onto the cart before she leaped onto the table into the remains of my dinner. While Ann and I finished up, Annabelle loudly scolded us. Luckily, this all could have been worse.
-
The ending of the two Godzillas could not be more different. In the Japanese version, Tagaski Shimua warns the world of the dangers of nuclear experimentation. In the American version, we get a smug Raymond Burr saying nothing of value.

-
Who's the Otello on the broadcast?
I believe it was Aleksandrs Antonenko. The conductor was Yannick Nézet-Séguin. This was from about a month after his first Met opening night, with the same opera, in the fall of 2015.
-
Was it Sondheim who wrote "Don't you love farts" - I think it was him.
:)
-
How about two carts, DR elmore3003? One for you, and one for Annabelle.

DR Freddie is on a roll this afternoon. ;D
-
The DH is playing another memorial service tomorrow. There's almost always a special music request. This time, it's Seal's song from one of the Batman movies.
-
I'm not a fan of this kind of music in a sacred space, but what do I know?
-
I guess it's meaningful to the family.

A wise person once said, "No one attending will remember the inappropriate music, but if you tell the family no, they'll remember that forever."

That's pretty profound.

And I've got no excuse this time. I have that day off. Time to cook!

Annabelle and the Tea Cart. That's a children's story title if I ever heard one.
-
Thank the heavens for Ann!

Indeed.

They say Hulu has a free trial but I couldn't find it. However, interestingly, I had the Fubo app on the Firestick and apparently I did a one-month thing before cancelling - probably to watch the Tony Awards a few years ago. If I'm reading it correctly, they give Fubo free to former subscribers. In other words, I started watching the pre-show Oscars - signed up via the Firestick/Amazon. I went to my subscriptions to see if I could cancel after watching, but it doesn't show as a subscription. Fubo only has a long-expired cc on file so they couldn't charge that and if they charged my Amazon filed card it would show up immediately as a subscription. So, guess I can watch.

BK, do you remember the "Scarlet Street" magazine interview you arranged for Skip and me back when the LAST STARFIGHTER CD came out?
And, were you the interviewer?
-
Oscars at five?
-
I know I arranged it but I can't remember if I interviewed or not. I'm sure I have the issue somewhere, but where is anyone's guess.

There was an interview with Keiran Culkin. I had to explain to the DH that the "A Real Pain" chyron was the name of his movie, and not an editorial comment.

Ariana is doing Venus on the half-shell.
-
Sunday evening greetings! Couldn’t miss Oscar night at HHW.

FOUR???
-
First it was six. Then five. Now FOUR???
-
Ridic.
-
Well, can't watch it - Fubo tried to charge the expired card 100 bucks. Didn't work.
-
So, is no one watching???
-
We need reportage.
-
Hard to believe we SPRING AHEAD in less than a week.
I know, right??
I am not looking forward to springing ahead.
-
First off, what is that contraption that Ariana Grande is wearing. I saw a photograph.
-
Not a single person is watching this???
-
Can someone please explain to me in easy to understand English why not one single person is watching the Oscars???
-
I don't get it.
-
I cannot recall even the worst year where we haven't had reportage.
-
If I'm reading correctly, only one award has been handed out in the first forty MINUTES of the show, just five minutes ago. Supporting actor. Culkin.
-
I missed the whole thing so far
-
Where the HELL is Jrand? Where the HELL is Rodzinski? Where the HELL is Freddie? I know elmore doesn't watch and George can't. But where the HELL is everyone else?
-
Yes, that’s right, BK. I’m watching, but you’re not missing much.
-
Where the HELL is Jane?
-
Been cooking dinner thought it started at 8
-
We need REPORTAGE!
-
How was the opening? How is Conan? What music has been performed?
-
What is that contraption Ariana Grande is wearing and does she even weigh eighty pounds?
-
Not a single person is watching this???
I'm not.
-
Can someone please explain to me in easy to understand English why not one single person is watching the Oscars???
I haven't watched them in years.
-
How was the opening? How is Conan? What music has been performed?
Show opened with a nice tribute to LA, then Cynthia and Ariana sang a medley of songs from The Wizard of Oz, Wicked, and The Wiz. Once Conan appeared it was all downhill.
-
Yes, that’s right, BK. I’m watching, but you’re not missing much.
;D
-
Where the HELL is Jane?
Again, I haven't watched it in years and rarely comment.
-
I will likely look at photos of what people wore.
-
Three awards given in the first hour. Gonna be a long evening.
-
In honor of the Oscars we will watch A Complete Unknown tonight.
-
I'm sorry, but I cannot even look at Cynthia Erivo.
-
Really surprised at the absence of Jrand.
-
A first.
-
Guess I may watch a movie at some point. Right now, Mr. Ormandy and the wonderful Philippe Entremont are doing the amazing Ravel Piano Concerto and then Falla's Nights in the Gardens of Spain or whatever it's called.
-
Enter page eight!
-
I had Panda Express for food.

I have a small thing of ice cream on its way and that should be it for this evening's food intake.
-
I may watch the Culkin movie everyone seems to love so much.
-
Paul Tazewell, Costumes, Wicked.
-
The only nominated films I have seen are Conclave & Dune 2.
-
I would like to see both A Real Pain and The Brutalist.
-
I’ve only seen Conclave and Wicked.
-
I've seen about ten or twelve movies from last year. Two of my favorites have, between them, received a single nomination.
-
I cannot stomach Conan O'Brien. Forever.
-
The Ravel piano concerto is one of the most beautiful things ever.
-
All I've seen from this year's nominated movies is Wicked, so I'm not watching this year either.
-
Conclave, a terrific movie, won best adapted screenplay.
-
Anora, a movie I really did not like, won for original screenplay over much better material.
-
Costume design went to Wicked, which was expected.
-
The ice cream that should have been here twenty minutes ago, still isn't here because DoorDash had the driver deliver two other orders. Apparently, they don't seem to comprehend that ICE CREAM melts if it's not delivered in a timely fashion. I will, of course, get a full refund and reorder if that's how it shows up.
-
And it indeed is a puddle.

Good.

I would expect there would be an ice chest to keep it cold.
-
And it indeed is a puddle.
I guess not ;D
-
Refund done.
-
This is the dreariest Oscar Bash in HHW history.
-
Sorry. We are taping it and have reverted back to the Bob Mackie documentary.
-

Are you referring to September 5 that you complained no one watched?
-
September 5 might have been a great story. I too did not watch it as I couldn't get past the hand held camera.
-
The Ravel piano concerto is one of the most beautiful things ever.
Yes, it is.
-
Just home from Bible study.
-
In this episode of Succession, Cherry Jones and Holly Hunter guest star.
-
It ain’t the Oscars.
-
Nine!
-
I love the song Home. Sadly they truncated it.

Glad The Substance won for makeup. Truly worthy.
-
Kieran Culkin deserved his Oscar.
-
So far no surprises at the Oscars
-
I thought that Conan's line was pretty funny: In Europe they're known as "Kilometers" and "Kilometry," Here they are--Miles Teller and Miley Cyrus.
-
I was rather surprised by Flow winning. I had read a lot lately about The Wild Robot.
-
Nice tribute to Gene Hackman by Morgan Freeman.
-
Richard Sherman in the "In Memoriam" tribute
-
So far no surprises at the Oscars
None at all.
-
They finally did a good job with the “In Memoriam” segment.
-
Really liked seeing so many views of the orchestra and conductor.
-
Fell asleep trying to watch a movie.
-
Back to watching.
Good job so far, in my opinion.
-
Wicked is only winning in the obvious categories.
-
And everyone left? Wacky. I mean HHW.
-
Three hours and ten minutes in - with all the major awards left.
-
I'd love to remember how many pages we were last year even. I think big mistake starting at four, but then I thought that about five.
-
I’m Still Here won for Best International Film.
-
I’m Still Here for foreign language film.
-
Listening to the two Prokofiev violin concertos.
-
It’s playing at local theaters. I may see it this week.
-
Best Actor is quite a contest this year.
-
Most other categories are rather predictable.
-
Wasn't so hot last year either - fifteen pages.
-
Just so unusual with no-shows from Jrand and George (even if he couldn't watch).
-
Enjoyed seeing Goldie Hawn and Daryl Hannah again.
-
As well as Mick Jagger and Halle Berry.
-
Adrian Brody for actor.
-
Ten!
-
Lost of films winning two awards each.
-
Sean Baker for director.
-
I guess it’s Anora’s night.
-
He’s won three so far.
-
Good evening.
-
An upset!
-
Mikey Madison for Anora
-
:)
-
The DH is playing another memorial service tomorrow. There's almost always a special music request. This time, it's Seal's song from one of the Batman movies.
I attended a funeral once where they played "My Dog Thinks I'm Elvis."
-
Good night, friends.
-
And others.
-
Baker is the only person to win three Oscars for the same movie. Disney is the only other person to win three in one night, but they were for different movies.
-
Can someone please explain to me in easy to understand English why not one single person is watching the Oscars???
I was trying to book travel arrangements. Very frustrating.
-
Anora it is.
-
Anita fir best picture
-
Hulu cut off its livestream before Best Actress and Best Picture.
Infuriating.
-
Anora will be released on Criterion at the end of April.
-
Very surprised that Demi Moore didn’t win.
-
The only film that I watched was A Real Pain, which I thought was excellent.
Kieran Culkin deserved his Oscar.

Kieran Culkin deserved his Oscar.
Exactly.
-
Would like to see The Brutalist and I’m Still Here.
-
I also liked Conclave. Glad it got the adapted screenplay award.
-
Too bad Harrison Ford had to cancel tonight.
Would have been fun to see him reunite with Mark Hamill.
-
Oh, that was never planned.
“Shortly after Ford's announcement that he would not present Sunday, his "Star Wars" co-star Mark Hamill was announced as a presenter in the ceremony.”
-
Shingles ain’t nothing to play around with.
-
Good night, all.
-
Where the HELL is Jrand? Where the HELL is Rodzinski? Where the HELL is Freddie? I know elmore doesn't watch and George can't. But where the HELL is everyone else?
I don’t have TV, brother!
-
I also liked Conclave. Glad it got the adapted screenplay award.
That’s the other film I plan to see.
-
Must look up Conclave.
-
11!
-
I saw Wicked, which meh.
I saw Wild Robot.
I didn’t see anything else that wasn’t for small children.
-
I interviewed Colman Domingo once. That would’ve been mildly more impressive if he won. A nice fellow, as I recall.

Loved his red and black tux.
-
Still watching Succession. Up to episode seven. Season two is good but it just feels a lot longer than the first season.
-
Season 2 congeals into something quite intriguing by the end.
-
As I recall.
-
That show, I mainly enjoyed watching the acting.
-
That show, I mainly enjoyed watching the acting.
Yes. The acting is amazing.
-
Dewey defeats Truman!
-
Good night, all.
-
I would have chosen Ralph Fiennes over Brody - he was good but got on my nerves after three and a half hours.
-
Anora was very irritating - had a few moments. The lead gal did give her all, I suppose.
-
Wicked did not fare well at all - three obvious tech wins and that was it.
-
BK, did you feel an earthquake tonight?
Reported a few minutes ago…magnitude 3.7, near Burbank.
-
DR George, lovely photos of your hike.
-
Yes, one very short but scary jolt. No shaking, just a big ol' jolt.
-
No postings in forty-five minutes.
-
No George, who has been absent for most of the day and evening.
-
Such are the way of things.
-
New notes are written.
-
And here we are.
-
Our worst Oscar Bash EVER.
-
I didn't think it would be possible to beat last year, but we did and handily.
-
Sad.
-
Sad. Sad. Sad. What am I, Edward Albee all of a sudden?
-
Who's Afraid of B and K?
-
What a dump.
-
I guess George is just gonna wait until after midnight to post.
-
Such are the way of things.
-
Enter page twelve.
-
Oh, George was HERE and then left with nary a post.
-
I think he's got some 'splainin' to do.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
