The Raymond Burr scenario is interesting. Sure, it’s the Great White Narrator here to frame the story from a white perspective, but the story is tighter, if less personal.

I might be here for some of the Oscar broadcast tonight, but only if I can stand to have it on. I have only morbid curiosity, not any actual interest. I've seen hardly anything new over the past year (I surely must be forgetting something?) and I wouldn't enter any horses in the race anyway.

I really want to avoid the extracurricular political, etc., nonsense. Not that it's truly nonsense, but my side or the other side, doesn't matter. I just don't want to hear it.

The ending of the two Godzillas could not be more different. In the Japanese version, Tagaski Shimua warns the world of the dangers of nuclear experimentation. In the American version, we get a smug Raymond Burr saying nothing of value.
