Well, you've read the notes, the notes had a sense of the notes, and now it is time for you to post until the sense of the cows cows come home.

I remember loving the set for the original production of LaCage Aux Folles
-
There was a moment when it starts with Albon sitting in his dressing room at the back of the stage a small room way in the back and as he sings his song the room gradually moves forward and widens until the entire stage was his dressing room , they achieved a movie style closeup on stage and I still think about it, and I saw that in ’87

Good morning, all.

Another double header here.
Band rehearsal for one show early afternoon, and a performance of another this evening.
-
Observations from last night's preview performance:
Apparently this isn't that place where they teach the kids that when your mic goes out mid-scene, you don't just keep talking - and then singing your solo - in your normal voice.
It also apparently isn't that place where they enforce no talking backstage while wearing mics, even if the feed isn't going out to the audience, so that the other crew and the orchestra monitor don't pick up your chatting about how it's okay to talk because it isn't being heard by the audience.

Good morning, all!

I could not get up this morning. The alarm rang at 5:15, and I went back to bed. When I decided to get up, it was 7:00, an d I'm ready to go back to bed. Of course, I blame the time change and the stress-anxiety provoked by the Fat Orange Felon in the White House.
-
Annabelee refused to eat this morning, preferring instead to lie on the teacart and flirt wth me. She left it for a moment, and Thatch decided to try it out. He seemed very happy lying next to me, and then Princess Annabelle returned to drive him off and reclaim her spot. As soon as she saw he was gone, she sneezed all over me and ab andoned the cart. What a bitch she can be.
-
I may go back to bed. We'll see how I feel after kitty cleanup.
-
DR John G, I wasn't aware of a new film of The Count of Monte Cristo, and now I want to see it.

Thursday morning greetings! Remember me? I have no reason - good or bad - for being absent, other than being in a funk.

Catching up on the posts, I’m so sorry to hear that DR Iris’s treatment has not gone smoothly. Sending my best vibes!

On one of our early dates in 1975 Richard took me to the then-new La Comedia Dinner Theatre to see DR Elmore in “…Forum.” They’re now celebrating their 50th anniversary and we’re going today to see “Jersey Boys.” It’s a matinee, so we’ll be having dinner for breakfast.

I read Trixie Belden mysteries when everyone else was reading Nancy Drew.

We're supposed to get more rain this afternoon.

I forgot to mention that two nights ago, I started watching on Amazon Prime The Marvelous Mrs Maisel. It's so good!

I forgot to mention that two nights ago, I started watching on Amazon Prime The Marvelous Mrs Maisel. It's so good!
I had started watching it way back when, and I didn't stick with it. Not because I didn't like it, it just fell off my radar. Thank you for the reminder.
-
Half a century, DR Elmore.
Lot of water under that bridge.
Our Pseudolus in that production, Ritch Brinkley, ended up in a semi-regular role on Murphy Brown.
Our Hero, Andy Farrell, danced on Broadway in the 1979 revival of Oklahoma!, went on to assist Agnes deMille, and then vbecame a novelist.
Jim Roman (Hysterium) now lives in Los Angeles; he's a Breoadway investor whose big hit was Come from Away.
Michael Hayward-Jones (Marcus Lycus) and I did several shows together, stayed frfiends until his tragic death from cancer two or three years ago; he was a dera friend.
I used to see Smitty (Senex) often in the Drama Book Shop.
I had been in Pirates of Penzance with our Gymnasia, who retired about ten years ago as an English teacher-high school director.
-
What fun, DR elmore3003!

Good morning, friends.

I was awake in the middle of the night after a bathroom break for about an hour and a half. >:(

I think it’s quite miraculous that they’re still in business. Richard went several times with school field trips when he was teaching, but I only remember one other visit. In the early ‘80’s we went to see “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.”
-
Actors Theatre of Louisville had an amazing set designer. So the productions I saw as a kid were always a joy and full of surprises. Morning’s at Seven looked like two homes and had touches such as running water in the kitchen sinks. The Play’s the Thing was an art deco scene of sleekness and minimalism. One year, A Christmas Carol was a storybook that opened with the characters appearing from off the pages. They really spoiled me because budgets snd imaginations don’t seem to be all that in regional productions anymore.

You can say that again!
-
On Broadway, Into the Woods had a playful set design that had pop-out doors, like an Advent calendar, for, say, the spirit of Cinderella’s mother.
-
The original Sunday in the Park with George had spectacular design.

Vibes for DR GINNY!
-
Nice page DR ELMORE!
-
I shall have to think about the TOD.
-
Today my cousin is bringing me all of the pictures that my late aunt had - including the ones that belonged to my grandmother that my aunt would not share with anyone.
Hopefully she won't stay TOO LONG.
-
LOL DR RODZINSKI.
-
DR CHAS SMITH - sometimes when I am wearing a headset that is heard by all of the crew.....I now and then say: "Sir, this is a Wendy's."
-

Thanks, DR Freddie! Today should help…
-
TOD: A real favorite on a non-high-tech level - For BELLE OF AMHERST at Two River Theater, Red Bank, New Jersey, the set of Emily Dickinson's home looked so welcoming and comfortable, that (if there had been actual running water/plumbing) you could imagine wanting to move into it.
-
Vibes for DR GINNY!
Thanks, DR JRand! I just think the past several years finally caught up with me.
-

Any chance of there being something juicy or scandalous among the photos?

I didn’t know you taught at Shippensburg, Larry! I spent a week there one night.
That remains the most humiliating dabacle of my life. I never refer to it.

The original Sunday in the Park with George had spectacular design.
That show had a lovely imaginative and humorous set. Ones I've really liked:
Oliver Smith: Camelot, visually stunning; is the art of the painted drop a thing of the past?
Oliver Smith: Hello, Dolly!
Raoul Péne duBois: No No Nanette: three stunning 1950s settings
Boris Aronson: Follies; no one's gotten close to it since then
Boris Aronson: A Little Night Music
Tony Walton: Pippin, an amazing mix of commedia dell'arte, macrame, and Romanesque art
-
Yup DR GINNY it can do that.
-
One table and the bookcase are left across the street.
No DR RODZINSKI the house has not sold.
-
UPDATE:
I do NOT have to schlep to almost-Yonkers to play Into the Woods. That was a last-minute substitution and their original person, who'd been dealing with an emergency, can do it.
It's actually a bit of a relief getting next week back, even though I now don't get to break my 3-Shows-in-March record. (March is the most likely month for setting musical theeder records.)
-
Good news for your fingers, Chas!
-
The original Sunday in the Park with George had spectacular design.
That was one of the first to come to my mind too. I didn't see it on Broadway, just the video, but it still made a huge impression.

I hope you are out of your funk now. It is hard not to be in one these days.

I read Trixie Belden mysteries when everyone else was reading Nancy Drew.
Maybe I would have liked those more if I had known about them.
-
We're supposed to get more rain this afternoon.
Fingers crossed.
-
I was awake in the middle of the night after a bathroom break for about an hour and a half. >:(
I did that on Tuesday night though I was then awake from 2:00 until about 6:30 when I finally slept until 8:30.
-
The bookcase is gone.
One lonely table remains.
-
It's a nice table but I don't have any space for it.
-
Last night I woke up at 3:00 for a bathroom break. Keith was already in there and while I waited for my turn I fell back asleep until 6:15 :)
-

LOL DR JANE.

My cousin didn't arrive.
I called her and asked "Did you forget to come today?
And she said: "Apparently."
She is coming next Thursday.

Jack peacefully passed away this morning.
-
So sorry for your loss, DR John G. May his memory be a blessing.
-
Sending condolences on your loss, John G.
-
I'm sorry, John. I'm so glad it was peaceful. It's what we all want.
-
Ginny, I posted a couple of days ago that I ran away from home because we had to have a home repair. I let my DH take care of it. I can't take the stress.
-
It's not like me to be so stressed. I guess it's the way it is now. So much going on.
-
We have to fly soon for a memorial service. I don't want to fly. My DH is so sweet, though. He said if I can't get on the plane to get back, he'll come back and get the car and drive me home.
-
I told him to just buy me a margarita at the airport bar. Maybe two.
-
I took my four-mile walk. Now I'm waiting for the wind storm they said we are going to get, and then the rain.
-
TOD: Besides Phantom of the Opera, I'd say I think the most beautiful set I've seen was My Fair Lady, which toured here with Elmore's friends -- Eliza's father and the conductor.
-
So sorry to hear DR JOHN G.
Condolences to you and his family.

That works, or get an ativan for the flight.

Walking at the airport while you wait for the flight also helps.

DR Laura how long is the flight?

I’m going to have to get back on Facebook and Instagram for the new book. Not terribly enthused by that.

I’m going to have to get back on Facebook and Instagram for the new book. Not terribly enthused by that.
What had made you leave Facebook?
-
I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep. And dealing with some disgusting texts. What else is new?
-
I've been reading that if you were born before 1989 you need a measles booster, which is why I have been a bit concerned my boys only had one vaccination. I just realized that our good pediatrician should have given them boosters. Since I still have their records I double checked. To my relief they did get the second doses, one in '89 and the other in '90.
-
Sorry to hear, John G.
-
Condolences, DR John G.
-
I am home for about one blessed hour in between rehearsal and show. Feels nice.
-
I’m going to have to get back on Facebook and Instagram for the new book. Not terribly enthused by that.
What had made you leave Facebook?
The lack of respect for the truth and the lack of desire on Facebook’s part to keep lies from being widespread.

It was hailing here :o

I'm glad we weren't walking in it.

DR John G, I’m so sorry about your friend.

We’ve reached the “if we can’t drive there we’re not going” stage.

We had a nice time today, but it’s still not my favorite way to experience dinner OR theatre. And musicals performed to recorded music lack a certain snap.
-
Stopped at a Lebanese restaurant I have wanted to try for a long time. Having a chicken shawarma wrap. Really good.

Thanks, everyone.

Puddler jumpers aren't fun but at least they are short. My issue is that I am more likely to get air sick.

Yes, you need to go to this one. It will be hard. Are your children going with you?

DR Freddie we enjoyed The Tracker last night and I agree with your comments regarding the kidnapper & the victim.
-
:)
-
I was going to say, toodle-loo, cockatoo. But someone hopped in instead.

Starting a bowling movie called The Gutter. How can you resist a movie with the tagline, “America’s 15th most popular pastime just got dangerous “?
-
:)
-
I was going to say, toodle-loo, cockatoo. But someone hopped in instead.

-
DR Freddie we enjoyed The Tracker last night and I agree with your comments regarding the kidnapper & the victim.
That series sometimes surprises me with how its stories work themselves out.
And I know it will of course never happen, but I'd love to see a spinoff with that character (and the actress playing her) who was a therapist ten years ago but decided to abandon it.
-
Now waiting for the new episode of THE PITT to start streaming, which will be later this evening. It's pretty rare that I'm so interested in a streaming show's cliffhanger that I'm so looking forward to the new episode to "drop," where the writers are going with the plot development. THE PITT had a plot turn near the end of last week's episode that was really intriguing.
-
:)
Well, that's a lot of fun!
-
I was going to say, toodle-loo, cockatoo. But someone hopped in instead.

Has anyone seen page six?
(What is this, the New York Post all of a sudden?)
-
Page Six!
-
DR Freddie, does that make you the Liz Smith of HHW? :)
-
A simple explanation. [click to embiggen]
-
DR Freddie we enjoyed The Tracker last night and I agree with your comments regarding the kidnapper & the victim.
That might be interesting. I like that the show is individual episodes. I am tired of all the shows that take an entire season.

I called my two Democratic senators tonight to ask them to vote "no" on the House's continuing budget resolution. I left a voicemail for one; the other's voicemail box was full.
-
Keith got Wordle in two today :)
-
DR Freddie, does that make you the Liz Smith of HHW? :)
LOL!
But I'd bet Liz Smith would have been able to get any episode of THE PITT she wanted to see in advance. :)
-
The Gutter is really fun. Stupid, stupid fun.

I'm enjoying that aspect of seeing the back seasons of CASTLE. While there's an ongoing general story, each episode seems to still be enjoyable on its own.
I like that in ELSBETH, too.
When MATLOCK picked up again, on the other hand, I had to go back and remind myself where they were before their two-month hiatus!
-
Google tells me that the new episode of THE PITT should be available as of 9 pm Eastern (6 pm Pacific), but I'm confused by the various screens.
I'll probably have to wait for Skip to show me how to find it
-
Thanks, DR Freddie. Didn't realize that Matlock had returned.

Hopkins was not able to give me an accurate diagnosis for my severe rash.
I decided to see a dermatologist who is not affiliated with Hopkins.
-
She took several biopsies, and called me today with the diagnosis.
Grover’s Disease.
I had not heard of it, but it’s shameful that the oncology team at Hopkins never considered it, and were very condescending when I complained.
-
It is difficult to treat, and affects one’s quality of life.
The diagnosis also mentions that it will significantly mess up sleep.
I have not slept for 72 hours because of the severe itching and pain.
My oncologist didn’t believe me.
-
Not sure where to go from here, but am stopping the radiation therapy.
Will leave everything up to fate now, as I have hit my breaking point.
-
Vibes and prayers very much appreciated.
-
It is astonishing that not one doctor on my cancer team considered it, as this is the first thing I found when I looked it up.
Chemotherapy and Grover's disease:
While the cause of Grover's disease is not fully understood, it's increasingly reported in association with chemotherapy, especially with cytotoxic drugs.
-
Vibes and prayers very much appreciated.
You got 'em.

This eclipse would be fun to watch.
A total lunar eclipse will occur overnight tonight (March 13) into the early hours of March 14, creating a striking red "Blood Moon" for observers across North America.
The lunar eclipse will reach its maximum phase, whereby the moon is fully obscured by Earth's deepest darkest shadow, the umbra, at 2:59 a.m. EDT (6:59 GMT) on March 14.
-
I might be awake.

Thank you, Freddie.

Vibes and prayers very much appreciated.
You got 'em.
Thanks, John G.
-
Hello, Rupert!
-
Happy Purim to those who celebrate!
-
Ugh. Sweet Iris, I’m hurting in your behalf. Can a gabapentin type drug help out with the pain/itching? Sorry your oncology team dropped the ball.
-
Sorry to hear, DR Laura. Sad news.
-
John G my condolences on the loss of your friend
-
Sending prayers and vibes to Laura, I am sorry about your niece
-
Iris I am so sorry, is Grover’s disease some that will pass or can be treated?
-
Vibes and prayers for DR IRIS.
Thanks for the eclipse info as well!
-
As is typical when an extraordinary celestial even is announced there is a low cloud cover here, making it impossible to see anything
-
DR JOHN G thanks for that clip.....I am not sure how I feel about it.
-
It is dark....but I think the table is gone.
I'll look again in the morning light.
-
I fell asleep and missed my Thursday shows.
-
ONDemand is my friend.
-
DR LAURA you will LOVE Indiana.
-
Of course I have to because I live here....but it's a nice place to visit.
Thunderstorms predicted for the weekend.....but otherwise....welcome to the basketball State.
-
The pair of keets were most upset about not being covered until AFTER dark.
-
Sorry about that Elvis and Priscilla.
-
Let's get to 200.
-
THERE we are.
-
DR CHAS SMITH is not going INTO THE WOODS but he is still going to the Harmonia
Gardens!
You go your way and I'll go mine!
Hopefully Dolly Levi will remain perpendicular this evening.
-
I adore early English perpendicular.
Does anyone remember what movie THAT is from?
-
I don't remember.
-
Good night, all.
-
Observations from last night's preview performance:
Apparently this isn't that place where they teach the kids that when your mic goes out mid-scene, you don't just keep talking - and then singing your solo - in your normal voice.
It also apparently isn't that place where they enforce no talking backstage while wearing mics, even if the feed isn't going out to the audience, so that the other crew and the orchestra monitor don't pick up your chatting about how it's okay to talk because it isn't being heard by the audience.
I hate it when that happens...or actually, doesn't happen! ::)
-
Thursday morning greetings! Remember me? I have no reason - good or bad - for being absent, other than being in a funk.
No need to explain! Welcome back, Ginny! :)
-
Half a century, DR Elmore.

That's really cool, Larry.
-
And speaking of Forum, I played Hero about 30 or so years ago!
-
That was my second (and last) stage kiss! ;)
-
PAGE EIGHT DANCE!!
-
I was awake in the middle of the night after a bathroom break for about an hour and a half. >:(
:o
-
Hope everything came out all right!
-
;D
-
The original Sunday in the Park with George had spectacular design.
Agreed!
-
I saw the national tour of Sunday... at Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre, and they used the sets from the 2008 Broadway production. It was all quite beautiful!
-
I saw Sunset Blvd. on Broadway and that set was amazing! I've seen so many incredible sets over the years (even from local shows) that I can't remember which were better than others. ::)
-
DR CHAS SMITH - sometimes when I am wearing a headset that is heard by all of the crew.....I now and then say: "Sir, this is a Wendy's."
:))
-
Good news, ChasSmith!
-
Good news for your fingers, Chas!
Ditto!
-
Jack peacefully passed away this morning.
I'm so sorry, John. :( At least, he had a peaceful passing.
-
Ginny, I posted a couple of days ago that I ran away from home because we had to have a home repair. I let my DH take care of it. I can't take the stress.
You do whatcha gotta do!
-
FOUR!

Very nice image, Jane.
-
I've been reading that if you were born before 1989 you need a measles booster, which is why I have been a bit concerned my boys only had one vaccination. I just realized that our good pediatrician should have given them boosters. Since I still have their records I double checked. To my relief they did get the second doses, one in '89 and the other in '90.
What?? I was born before 1989 but I don't remember if I ever got a measles booster. :-\
-
The doctor’s appointment went well. Don’t need to see him for a year.
That's great, John.
-
We have to fly soon for a memorial service. I don't want to fly. My DH is so sweet, though. He said if I can't get on the plane to get back, he'll come back and get the car and drive me home.
That is very sweet. I didn't realize flying is hard for you.
I'm not crazy about flying, but I'm ok with it.
It's just .... recently.
We’ve reached the “if we can’t drive there we’re not going” stage.
I know. I feel that way. But it's my husband's brother's daughter. The first one in the family (except for his parents) to pass. My daughter's age.
Oh, no! I'm so sorry, Laura.
-
Speaking of that sheer body stocking...

;D

:)
(http://www.haineshisway.com/smf/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=7900.0;attach=25660)
That's great!
-
For the second line, though, I learned it as "In a while, crocodile."
-
I never liked, "After a while." It has an extra syllable that doesn't work...but that's just me.
-
:)
(http://www.haineshisway.com/smf/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=7900.0;attach=25662)
:D

And, of course, the same can be said for pants and glasses, at least!

Me too!
Congrats, Kevin!

~~~SUPER VIBES OF ALL KINDS FOR IRIS!!~~~
-
Not sure where to go from here, but am stopping the radiation therapy.
Will leave everything up to fate now, as I have hit my breaking point.
But at least now you know!
Here's a pick-me-up: Audra, Danny and a lovely Joy Woods in Together Wherever We Go.
Great clip! I'm surprised that they used a filmed clip for a daytime talk show, though.
-
Of course, that may be normal now. I haven't watched a daytime talkshow in YEARS!
-
Vibes and prayers very much appreciated.
It's happening NOW!!
-
I guess I should go outside and see if it's even clear.
-
Not sure where to go from here, but am stopping the radiation therapy.
Will leave everything up to fate now, as I have hit my breaking point.
But at least now you know!
True.
But I also learned that it is not curable.
-
Think I will get out my binoculars and search for the eclipse.
Good night, all.
Sweet dreams.
-
Oh, look! It's Page Nine!!
-
Nope...too many clouds around here. :P
Ugh. Sweet Iris, I’m hurting in your behalf. Can a gabapentin type drug help out with the pain/itching? Sorry your oncology team dropped the ball.
Thank you, Prince Rodzinski.
It will require strong drugs that are compatible with my chemotherapy injections.
Will soon find out.
-
And speaking of Forum, I played Hero about 30 or so years ago!
I played a Protean 25 years ago in Brooklyn.
-
Keep up the fight. Easy for me to say, I know. But my little online research suggests while not curable, it goes away on its own eventually. Hope sooner than later.
-
I liked the set of Proof. The play about math proofs. I saw it with Jennifer Jason Leigh. Well, I saw I
it with my mom, but JJL was in it. The set was just a very realistic house.
Even though you're married (and to a woman), I'd kiss ya, Rodzinski. ;)
-
I did accidentally conk a fellow Protean in the head with a wooden mallet, however. Not my finest stage moment.
Had a pretty good run-through - getting smoother, but still stuff to work out.
-
New notes are written.
-
And they'll be posted.
-
And I don't care who knows it.
-
I know it and that will suffice, suffice it to say.
-
One Grecian Urn.
-
Two Grecian Urns.
-
Where's Hermione Gingold when you need her?
-
So fortunate to have seen her on the stage in Oh Dad, Poor Dad.
-
One of a kind.
-
Sorry to hear about JohnG's friend.
-
Is page ten lurking somewhere?
-
In the wings, perhaps?
-
Enter page ten.
Is page ten lurking somewhere?
Why, yes! It is!
