Yesterday was a day from hell. I've been procrastinating  a very serious bathroom cleanup for months, and I decided yesterday was the day to accomplish it. As soon as kitty cleanup was over, I began around 9:30 and set everything gathering dust on the floor into the bathtub. The litter mat and litter box, which was too heavy to pick up and stand remained obstacles  to maneuver. It took me about an hour of crawling around to vacuum the bathroom, and then I could not find the bottle of Pinesol to mop the floor. It's somewhere in the apartment, but I cannot remember where I put it. So, I called the corner bodega and while I waited for the delivery, I unpacked the new litter mat and litter box, which I had ordered last December.

I finished mopping the floor around noon - I finally dragged the litter box into the foyer so I could remove the mat to finish mopping the floor - and started cleaning up the mess I was creating. I figured I needed two hours for the bathroom floor to dry, and I settled in with the cats to watch our soap opera. By thioos time, my knees were bloody from crawling over sharp shreds of litter all over the bathroom and foyer floors and my body ached from lifting myself off the floor more than the six to eight times daily that I usually do.

At 2:00 I took the wet mop and ran it one more time across the b athroom floor. I then transferred the litter to the new litter box, which meant another vacuum of the foyer before I could lay down the new litter mat and litter box in the bathroom. As soon as that was accomplished, I fed Stella and Thatch. Annabelle prefers to sleep until 4:00.

TOD:

My favorite soup to make is vegetable beef soup.  It's a nutritious, tasty mainstay.

A favorite soup to buy is tomato basil.

I am also very fond of, if made properly, meatball soup, broccoli cheddar soup, and lobster bisque.

TOD PS:

i do enjoy a nice sweet and sour soup, plus a miso soup, if done properly.

I have so very much enjoyed reading the daily details of getting "Drat the Cat!" ready for an audience.

It does take me way back to those days when I was involved in getting ready for a show.  As maddening as it was, it was always worthwhile, and I enjoy the "afterglow" BK has when his shows click with the audiences.

May many "legs be broken" in the coming days, Bruce, for all involved.

Then I fixed myself a grilled cheese and ham sandwich, ate that, and went back to the bathroom. I took everything out of the bathtub, set them back in their usual places, washed out and refilled the cats' water bowl, feeling guilty I had left them waterless for the past seven hours, washed their dinner dishes and mine, went to the computer and  discovered my keyboard was screwed up: the E key had stopped working. I had to scrounge around the utility closet till I found another keyboard. I plugged it in, ordered a new keyboard from Amazon and ordered a couple of egg rolls and some fried wonton from my favorite Chinese place, and checked my emails. The food arrived fifteen minutes or so later, I ate, gave the cats their treat, stripped down to my underwear, and lay down. By  this point my body was so shot to hell I could barely move. It was around 5:00. I turned on Amazon Prime and watched two more episodes of The Marvelous Mrs Maisel. I was so tired, I couldn't focus on my mystery when I turned off the TV. I was asleep by 8:30.

The only cookbook I have ever cooked all the way through is Avoca Cafe Soups. I did this during the pandemic.

Avoca Cafe is a restaurant in Ireland that had amazing food. Favorite soups from that cookbook include a tomato-celery-apple soup that I have made repeatedly through the years and a green pea-mint soup (both of which are in another Avoca Cafe cookbook).

I have no idea what a DH is LOL.

my SIL and her first husband had British midland accents and their eldest daughter picked that up , she is her 40’s now, and it’s less pronounced but still vaguely British .

My nephew sounds more Canadian, but could easily be mistaken for a Midwestern American ,

My nieces three kids sound like their uncle and their Dad who comes from Saschatchawan

LOL, Dear Husband. I thought he came here through Canada vs straight from England.

There’s a Thai restaurant nearby that does a fresh cabbage soup with so much more in it. Yes, it has the holy trinity of cooking — celery, carrot and onion — plus shrimp, squid and chicken, all in a vegetable broth with plenty of cabbage and ginger in it. You can get a vegetarian version with tofu, but it crumbles.

Still, I would rather have crumbled tofu than shrimp or squid ;D

I'm not keen on chicken in soup either though I have eaten it.  My mother made the best matzo ball soup because she used turkey instead of chicken.  My matzo ball soup, which I haven't made since leaving Ashland, was made with a veggie base.

Seafood soups, such as bouillabaisse or lobster bisque, are a real favorite. Clam chowders of all sorts and spicy Chinese seafood soup are always welcome.

I do like a New England clam chowder but not Manhattan.

One of my top 10 meals of all time was a bowl of vegetable soup in a little cafe at the base of a volcano in Guatemala. The vegetables, including cauliflower, tasted so fresh and blended do well together that I was transfixed by every spoon.

In a neighborhood joint in Lisbon I had a deep bowl of lobster soup. It wasn’t very promising when it arrived. All it seemed to be was bread soaking in broth with a hole at the center. Okay, so I told myself, it’s a lobster broth and some of that amazing Portuguese bread. Fine. I tasted the broth. Heavenly. Then I used my spoon to cut into the bread. That’s when I found the lobster. There must have been 1.5 pounds of lobster hiding in there. I was sooooo happy.

We get the Chicken Tortilla Soup  in a two-pack of 32 oz. each. Very easy to store in the fridge.   It says on it that's seven servings, but for us as meals, each 32 oz. plastic container is good for two meals.

Add some tortilla chips, it's enough to feel like a hearty lunch.
