In Prague, I had a cabbage soup, dense with shredded, sauerkraut-like strands of cabbage and deer sausage. Beer was in the broth. I was in seventh heaven.

One of my top 10 meals of all time was a bowl of vegetable soup in a little cafe at the base of a volcano in Guatemala. The vegetables, including cauliflower, tasted so fresh and blended do well together that I was transfixed by every spoon.

A treat for me was always Split Pea soup at Andersen's. The original recipe is vegetarian. Often it isn't when I see it on the menu at other restaurants.

In a neighborhood joint in Lisbon I had a deep bowl of lobster soup. It wasn’t very promising when it arrived. All it seemed to be was bread soaking in broth with a hole at the center. Okay, so I told myself, it’s a lobster broth and some of that amazing Portuguese bread. Fine. I tasted the broth. Heavenly. Then I used my spoon to cut into the bread. That’s when I found the lobster. There must have been 1.5 pounds of lobster hiding in there. I was sooooo happy.

I often order soup out. The problem is that soup is very filling and then I can't finish my meal. That's fine if I can bring the leftovers home but not good when we are traveling.

I've had a Campbell's Cheeseburger soup that wasn't too bad, but it's been quite a while since I've had it. Otherwise, I'm not really much of a soup guy. I like chili, but that's not really a "soup."

Do you also like beef stew? Not exactly a soup, but the broth can seem a lot like a soup.

We get the Chicken Tortilla Soup in a two-pack of 32 oz. each. Very easy to store in the fridge. It says on it that's seven servings, but for us as meals, each 32 oz. plastic container is good for two meals.

Add some tortilla chips, it's enough to feel like a hearty lunch.

If it has solid chunks of meat, no. I don't like the texture of non-ground beef. It makes me gag. I'm weird, I know.

I like sour cream or yogurt in chili.

Never tried sour cream in the Chicken Tortilla soup - yet.
