Well, you've read the notes, the notes contemplated the notes, and now it is time for you to post until the contemplating cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: OMNIPOTENT!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I had a very lousy night of sleep. My left ankle is driving me mad and I don;t have a pain med strong enough to dull the pain. It's got me worried about being out this morning, and I'll admit I do not want to go.
-
As long as I am out, I will stop at the post office and mail this package to France.

The cats seem happy this morning, and that makes me happy. They all ate, and Annabelle and Thatch have been wrestling. Stella is fascinated by this food delivery yesterday and seems determined to break into the carton. When I get back from this ultrasound, I'll pitch everything.
-
DR TCB, how do you feel about the play's cancellation? Are you okay with it?
-
DR vixmom, good news about the cast! I hope you xan now get your regimen back to normal.
-
DR vixmom, what life alert company did you go with for your mother?
-
Kitty cleanup is over. I walked into the bathroom to find that a climbing Stella had brought down a large box of bandaids, torn up the box and left the bandaids all over the rug. She's living on borrowed time.
-
Good morning.
-
Elmore, I posted a video on Facebook of Leonard and his new toy a few days ago.
-
Magdalena is about as frisky as Stella seems to be.
-
TCB, I'm glad they finally canceled your play. I am hoping that all the shows for next season are canceled at both of the places where I have season tickets. Even if the shows are going on, I probably won't go. I'd much rather get the tickets refunded.
-
Good morning, all. H
-
TCB, I’m glad the play was canceled. It’s the safest choice right now.
-
I don’t wanna wake up.

I did a phone interview with Billy Wilder once for one of my books. Don't recall which one.

Elmore, I posted a video on Facebook of Leonard and his new toy a few days ago.
I must watch it when I get home from my outing.
-
My curiosity got the better of me and I went ahead and watched it. Leonard is so cute!
-
Where did you find the toy, DR Laura?
-
I'm heading out. Pray for Rosemary's baby!
-
Good morning!
-
I see advertisements on television all the time for gentlemen who are OMNIPOTENT.

Good news from DR VIXMOM re: The Cast.
Good news from DR TCB re: The Cast.

Dental visit vibes for DR GEORGE.

I think I will make some sloppy joes today.....because I have the ingredients.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Homemade recipe or Manwich, DR Jrand69?

Two!

How come nobody likes The Emperor Waltz? Bing Crosby and Billy Wilder. It’s like an acid trip without the acid.

Nothing against THE EMPEROR WALTZ.
It's just not in the same league as THE APARTMENT, SUNSET BLVD. and several others.

Well, this has been one of my most horrible days in some time! To begin my appointment was for tomorrow! The nice young lady who admitted me checked the schedule and I was seen at 9:30 today. The entire ultrasound experience was one of the most exposed, uncomfortable, and embarrassing during which the technician kept moving my legs in more an d more uncomfortable positions. When it was over, my legs were in such pain I could barely stand or walk.
-
From DR George:
I'll do it because I don't want to wait until August to have my dental appointment, which would be eight months since my last appointment, instead of the normal six months.
Booking our next 6 month appointment turned into 7 months. It is a bit more complicated booking for us as we do our appointments at the same time, still I think they are still playing catch up.
-
I then stood outside the building at Broadway and 57th Street, one of the busiest traffic places in the City, waiting for over 20 minutes for a taxi. After that I had no problems getting to the post office or getting home. I'm going to lie down with the cats for a long time today.
-
Thursday afternoon greetings! More online ALA and DAR conferencing for me today and this evening.

Ditto to all of these except Double Indemnity, because I've never seen it. ::)
-
I just got to work after my 8:00 A-in-the-freakin'-M dental appointment. :P
-
My dental hygienist wants me to come back in four months because I've had some excessive tartar build-up and in a way that hasn't happened in a long time. I got a rinse that I need to use for a week (and no more!) that should help. Hopefully, I won't need to get the deep cleaning. I've actually had that done once before. Because of the numbing gel, it wasn't horrible.
-
So, it was a good thing that I was able to get this 8:00 am (ugh!) appointment now instead of having to wait until August for the rescheduled appointment!
-
Kitty cleanup is over. I walked into the bathroom to find that a climbing Stella had brought down a large box of bandaids, torn up the box and left the bandaids all over the rug. She's living on borrowed time.

My dental plan allows two appointments within a calendar year, so if/when I need one earlier than usual, I can get one without any trouble (unless they were in January, then June, and then October is needed). So now, my next appointment is in October instead of December. If everything is okay then, the next appointment will be some time in April, then October again.

DR CHAS SMITH - Manwich......but I also added some diced fresh green peppers and some diced neighbor's fresh green onions.....
Turned out very well.....eating it on a tortilla with tomatoes and cheese.....

TOD:
I would be tempted to say all if it weren't for KISS ME, STUPID.
So I will say:

So I guess it was a success DR GEORGE.......

I hope DR GINNY is enjoying her computer outings.

I'm glad Rosemary's Baby made it through okay, but sorry about the horrible procedure.

I've done that, use Manwich and add some things. Peppers, onions, and even some garlic.
Never thought about having it on a tortilla. The cheese, though -- if you have it on a bun with cheese, you're in Lums territory. Did you have Lums restaurants back in the day? Lumburger with cheese? That was a huge thing for me in my high school years.
-
I had my dental appointment today, too. I go every four months. I just do better that way.
-
I'm glad you survived the medical ordeal this morning, Elmore. Rest, my friend, and feel better tomorrow.

I just placed a hold for a library copy. It'll get here whenever it gets here. Only some of our libraries are open, so it may or may not get here soon.

I had phone calls ands other distractions until nearly 1:00. At that time I lay down with the three cats and dozed through half of The Young and the Restless (Big Big Ugly Hair Reruns), then slept through The Bold and the Beautiful, and most of The Talk. Thatch and Annabelle still sleep on my bed, and Stella has been following me around like a puppy.

I'd like to watch Witness for the Prosecution again.

Starting today, the National Theatre broadcast of the Bridge Theatre's production of A Midsummer Night's Dream (https://youtu.be/Punzss5sHto) begins streaming on YouTube! It stars Gwendoline Christie (formery of Game of Thrones) as Titania. :)

EXCELLENT TEXT RESULT VIBES FOR DR ELMORE!
-
So, it was a good thing that I was able to get this 8:00 am (ugh!) appointment now instead of having to wait until August for the rescheduled appointment!
It sure is. Maybe it is the stress of the pandemic, etc. My teeth which are normally rather clean seemed to need a bit more work than usual.

I don't really remember THE EMPEROR WALTZ. I think I will suggest to Keith we watch it.

Some people do. I know others who barely need it once a year, lucky people.

A nap is just what you needed after your morning, and the fact you are still recovering from a major surgery.

I'm up, I'm up - was up at eight after four and a half hours of sleep - did stuff for two hours, then went back to bed, finally falling asleep and getting another hour or so.

My visiting physical therapist called, and she has released me. The visiting nurse will do the same next week.

Last night we began watching the Francesca Annis miniseries Lillie, about the life of Lillie Langtry. We'll continue that tonight, but I'm really itching to watch Witness for the Prosecution.
-
My visiting physical therapist called, and she has released me. The visiting nurse will do the same next week.
Great!
-
I watch Witness for the Prosecution each time it's on. I may have a DVD, I don't remember.
So much to recommend......and I remember being gobsmacked the first time I saw it....on television when I was about 11 or 12 years old.
Enjoy the cheeseburgers DR ELMORE.

DR CHAS SMITH I don't know from Lum's.
After I have had my fill of the Manwich - I will put the rest in some macaroni with another small can of Manwich and have some glop.

I am hoping that it will be OnDemand after midnight tonight, I shall watch for it.

Listening to Mr. Mendelssohn - got a really cheap box set (four CDs) of the symphonies and overtures and incidental music stuff, conducted by Claudio Abbado with the London Symphony Orchestra. Beautifully recorded.
-
The group number is now mixed - but one of our singers found a boy replacement and he says he'll have it to me by this evening, so he'll get mixed into the track, which is easy.

I had a big lunch

The office ordered from the local Greek place and I was tempted by the

So I didn’t want dinner and neither did vixdad

As I was I was. Leaving for mom's, vixdad decided to make some toast for a snack

Something about the smell of bread toasting always makes me hungry

I took moms car for her yearly inspection and an oil change

It’s a 2010 that she bought second hand

It may be awhile before she is up to driving again.

On our afternoon walk we saw a couple we haven't seen since early February. We were all happy to see each other and know we were well. They have continued to walk regularly we just haven't crossed paths probably because the mosquitoes have been keeping us from that walk in the evenings. The other day the city sprayed the area, still Keith was bitten twice.

Finishing up the Danish Chess recording. Many changes. Some work. But they rewrote perhaps my favorite lyric near the end: "Not to be too wise/Not to realize/Where there's truth, there will be lies" has become "... There was truth and there were lies." Ouch.
Perhaps the biggest change is that Anatoly wins the big match at the end of the show. Freddie has won it in every other production.

Got the video from the last guy, who then made the bad mistake of emailing me right after he sent it, telling me he didn't really know what it was for (I'm pretty sure the gal who recruited him told him about the show) and that he needed more information about how we were going to use "his work" - I kid you not, folks - "his work." And he said his manager would be in touch. Said manager was copied. I responded instantly with a history of the shows, whose been in them, who they're talking to (me) and what the online shows are benefitting and who the cast is for this show. I also said VERY strongly, that if there were ANY issues that I needed to know right now because we're starting to put this together. Well, right now was an hour ago. In the meantime, I'm pretty sure this fellow was part of the Sterling's singing contest and that I judged him. I also looked at his resume, which is all college productions and NOTHING else. And in a nutshell, this is what's wrong with this generation of performers. The entitlement is breathtaking. This neophyte has a MANAGER? And I'm supposed to deal with the MANAGER? Funny, I'm not dealing with Emily Skinner's manager or Christiane Noll's manager or Liz Callaway's manager and funny I didn't deal with Lauren Bacall's manager or Elaine Stritch's manager or Dorothy Loudon's manager. So, if they haven't responded by nine, they're out and I will have to write another e-mail about the why of that and why it's not a good idea at the beginning of a career to piss off someone who can actually help them.
-
Ouch.
-
They have extended our ability to work from home through the end of the year.
-
That means there won't be a Christmas party. Unless they give a virtual one. Not that it matters. I really appreciate the extension. I seriously don't want to go back to the office.
-
Good night, all.

Each time I am cast in a show, I worry that it is my last show.

Of course, I knew that the show cancellation was inevitable, but that doesn’t make it any easier.
I suppose. Hopefully, they can reschedule...or did they already propose that?
-
Hi, Tom.
-
Don’t get me wrong, I know I am talented, but I also know that I am speeding towards age 70 and that I am in a wheelchair.
-
Hello, George.
-
Oh, look! It's Page Five! :D
-
Don’t get me wrong, I know I am talented, but I also know that I am speeding towards age 70 and that I am in a wheelchair.
Yes, you are talented! Back in the 1990s and early 2000s, there were more theater groups, abd more groups in general put on concerts and benefits. I was involved in an annual AIDS benefit for 11 years in a row!
-
I can’t play just any role, and I try not to throw my hat in for shows that I am not right for.
-
Anyone could be involved with the benefits and concerts that I did. Even though we didn't actually have anyone in a wheelchair be involved, they wouldn't have been excluded because of it.
-
I can’t play just any role, and I try not to throw my hat in for shows that I am not right for.
As with anyone, that's definitely a consideration.
-
So, to have a leading role in a quality production suddenly ripped away from me is very disappointing.
-
So, to have a leading role in a quality production suddenly ripped away from me is very disappointing.
At least you can be secure in the knowledge that you did get cast, and that it's not your fault that it's not happening. EVERYONE is in the same boat. :-\
-
But, I knew all along that this show wasn’t going to happen. There is no crying over spilled vodka.
-
Five minutes after I wrote the post about the fellow, I cut him loose - what a foolish beginning actor. He has no "manager" - I looked up the "manager" and he's another kid, musical theater performer, not a manager - perhaps they're in a relationship. I was nice but pointed in the e-mail and left no room for them to come back with anything other than "sorry" which I'm sure they won't do, knowing this generation of entitled nobodies.

The nerve of them!
-
So, I just put two dozen mini cheesecakes in the oven to cook for tomorrow's Phase 10 playing and dinner at my parents' house (I'm also bringing sliced cheeses for sandwiches), and then I had the thought...what if I wasn't supposed to bring them this week? What if someone else was going to bring a different dessert instead, and I was just supposed to bring the cheese?? :o
-
Well, I guess I'll find out soon enough. ;)

Of course, I knew that the show cancellation was inevitable, but that doesn’t make it any easier.
It wouldn't. I will feel the same when our planned trip to Chicago doesn't happen.

Here is this week's batch of mini cheesecakes:
Enjoy. Have you tried any from the freezer?

You can't see them, but this week I used Keebler Pecan Sandies Shortbread cookies for the base instead of graham cracker crumbs for the crust.

Here is this week's batch of mini cheesecakes:

No. The leftovers were left at my parents' house, so I would assume that my dad had some (or all) that were left.
-
These are what I used for the crust:

I would rather have the graham cracker crumbs.

Do you always use the pecan cookies?
