bk - I really like Pam Real Thai. However... Did you go to the original location on 49th? Or the new, slickly decor'd one on 47th? The homey original is my favorite Thai place in the city. The new location is a much bigger space, but a lot people I know have said that the heat and seasonings seemed to be turned down for "American palates". -However, you can ask for the "Real Thai" treatment, and they will adjust things accordingly from what I understand. *I think the new location is trying to make it's money off it's bar sales rather than the food - just going by the way the room is set up.
*If you want a real treat, give Chili Thai a try on 9th Ave. It features Thai food with a Latin twist. And it all works rather well. They also have a bunch of tapas sized plates so that you can sample and share at your table. Those Duck Empanadas are killer!
