I have returned from my sister's surprise retirement party.  And my brother-in-law managed to pull it off as a complete surprise.

Was her surprised reaction filmed?... For YouTube? ;)

Now I have to figure out where to get my car tested to see why this has happedned  twice in the past month

maybe I should call Click & Clack, the Car Guys

DR vixmom - How old is your battery? With the recent cold-snaps, it could just be that your battery is showing its age, and is due for a replacement.  And as with any sort of battery issues, be sure to have your alternator checked too.

When I returned the Storm yesterday the Verizon woman waiting on me seemed irritated.  I asked her to restore everything on my current blackberry and she said she did.  Well I wasn't getting any email so I just went to trouble shoot.  She didn't transfer the email back to the new one.   I did a security wipe on the storm before giving it back so I know it wasn't going there, but she really should have followed through with what I asked.

On the positive side, now I know how to do it when the replacement curve comes from the insurance co. on Monday

Now this is insanity.  Palin will be here at noon. They start handing out wrist bands to allow admission to the book signing at 6:00 AM   And NO, I'm not going.  Just shaking my head at the idea of camping out in very cold weather to get a book signed by Sarah Palin
Quote
SIOUX CITY -- Two women from Moville, Iowa, arrived at the Southern Hills Mall parking lot at 4 p.m. Saturday equipped with a propane heater, tent, battery-operated socks, several layers of clothing and doting husbands who occasionally stopped by with hot cocoa, other necessities -- and the opportunity to poke fun at their determination.

Leisa Stapp, 35, and Cindy Rilling, 49, didn't mind the cold weather or their husbands' jokes as they waited patiently in the parking lot in front of Barnes and Noble Booksellers for the opportunity to be the first in line to meet former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

"I just wanted to be assured I'll get a chance to at least get to see her and get her autograph," Stapp said. "We came prepared. I've got battery-operated socks, about four layers of clothing, hats, gloves, coat and a very strong will."

Rilling said people have been stopping and asking why they're camping out in the mall parking lot.

"I'm amazed how many people don't realize Sarah's coming," Rilling said. "They think there's a big sale we're camping out for."

Stapp had her 13-year-old son Daylon with her and Rilling brought her 14-year-old son Skyler.

"We were determined to be the first ones in line," Cindy Rilling said. "If we do get freezing cold we will just step into our cars for a little bit. Just being here and meet such an icon and someone I truly admire is so exciting. "

Meanwhile, the two women had more than just their sons to keep them company. Two women from Spencer, Iowa, and others joined them as the night continued. Around 8 p.m. there were about seven people total camping outside.

One of them was Todd Sargeant, 22, of Lebanon, Ohio, who drove 800 miles to Sioux City just to see Palin.

Sargeant left Ohio at 1:30 a.m. Saturday morning and arrived in Sioux City at around 1:30 p.m., got a hotel and went straight to the parking lot where he met Cindy Rilling and Leisa Stapp.

"She's an inspiration to me and so many and it's an honor to be here," Sergeant said. " I missed the two Ohio meets and with my work this was the closest one I could come to, to meet her."

Well we will be closed for Christmas - but my Jewish employer just does not "get" that Christmas Eve is more of a family get together time than Christmas Day itself, not ot mention that it it aslo a big day for church services - if things run true to norm he'll talk about letting us out early - and then finally let us go at 4

If all these signings are at Barnes and Noble and if they have the same rules everywhere, they are making a pretty penny off of Ms. Palin

Quote
Rules for Palin book signing

* Wristbands will be handed out on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at 6 a.m. You must be present to get a wristband.

* You must present a Barnes & Noble receipt for "Going Rogue" to get a wristband.

* Maximum of two copies of "Going Rogue" per person will be signed.

* No personalization of signings of the books; Sarah Palin will provide only an autograph.

* No photos with Palin.

* Cell phones and cameras must be turned off and put away before customers approach the signing table.

* No bags will be allowed through the signing line.

* Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian

I don't get this mania either.  I think I liked the idea of her better than her ideas. I didn't like the way she was treated. But this is just plain goofy

Did any DRs happen to watch "The 12 Men of Christmas" - starring Kristin Chenoweth, Josh Hopkins, Anna Chlumsky and Erin Dilly - on Lifetime earlier tonight?  Or plan to TiVo or DVR it tomorrow night? ;)

*OH! They even have a CALENDAR!
