Went to a fun local production of "In the Heights." Great voices, though, seeing the show for the first time, I couldn't help but think that all of the ballads -- and there are many -- are power ballads. Does no one but Kander and Ebb see the quiet things?

Also, terrific 10-piece orchestra, though the sound system could have used a little work. You have to understand all of the lyrics to understand the story, and that wasn't always possible.

Today, the visiting aunts, my sister and I all went to see "Star Trek Into Darkness."  We saw the 2D (and non-IMAX) version.  They all really liked it.

Right after the movie, we went to my parents' house, but left right away for Applebee's for dinner.  My parents went and my sister's daughter and boyfriend joined us all.  I had their half-priced cheeseburger sliders (half-priced because it was during their "happy hour" of 3-6 pm), and they were good.  I had to leave before everyone else was done because I had to get to the theater.

Tonight was Cinder Edna's official opening night!  We had a great show and a very good audience.  I think it's going to do well.  Tomorrow, we only have a 1 pm matinee.

Tomorrow night, I'm going to see Legally Blonde at Capital Playhouse.  My ticket was originally for this Wednesday, but, of course, I couldn't get out of Cinder Edna.  I've been hearing really good things about LB, so I'm looking forward to it.

DR Doug R, I am beginning to wonder how our May here will average out.  I know I'll be turning the furnace on for Saturday and Sunday, but also very possibly today.  It's ridiculous.

Woops, there I go, posting my 4000th!  Better sign off so I don't do it again, and wait for George!!!      :)

I don't (yet) know if anyone else has saved the momentous moment, but here you go:

Congrats, ChasSmith! :D

Home from Great America - fun time with my best pal.  Now to put clothes in bags and see where I am before bed.  Need to pick up the truck at 8:00am.  Tomorrow should be fun....

DR George which version of STAR TREK did you prefer?

I was frustrated with the changes of the first one (the reboot), mainly because the characters are all different ages and J.J. Abrams had them all at Star Fleet at the same time.  That didn't make sense.  For this movie, that doesn't matter.  It all seems to make sense and was done very well...and the quality of special effects have been improved since the first movie. :)
