LEAVE HER TO HEAVEN

I saw this film when it first came out.  I was four years old.  The scene where Gene Tierney lets Darryl Hickman drown gave me nightmares.

Hickman gave a wonderful performance in this film.  Unhappily, it was not a pleasant experience for Hickman.  The director, John Stahl, was mean to him, according to Hickman in an interview he gave on TCM alongside Jane Withers, Margaret O'Brien and Dickie Moore.  He said the shoot in the water was particularly brutal for him.

I'm up, I'm up - woke up at nine-thirty.  Helper has come and gone (Too Late Blues will be here on Tuesday so she has to prepare all those packages), and I woke up to some helpful news, which is great.

Thinking about announcing our new title on Monday, even though it's a holiday - what think you people?

What are the cons of announcing on Monday?

I just junked the first three scenes of my new play as it wasn't going where I wanted to go. Adding a character and changing the motivations of a major character I think will make the play better.

No real cons about a Monday release other than it's a holiday.

If you have a dog this is not safe to use in the garden.

When I get the same page over and over on my Nook I just close the book I'm reading and reopen it and it works fine

I don't have that problem anymore now that I have the Nook HD.

Love these reunion photos of pets and owners after the tornado.

These are nice, thank you.  I bet there would be many more if everyone had michrochipped their pets, which may also explain why I haven't seen any cats reunited with their people.

From DR Charles Pogue:

If you mean ENTER LAUGHING, that's Carl Reinerand is American.  If you mean PRESENT LAUGHTER; it's Noel Coward and couldn't be more British.  I saw the original production, orignal cast of NOISES OFF at the Savoy Theatre in London.  Verrrry British...

Thank you.  I had confused ENTER LAUGHING with PRESENT LAUGHTER.  I saw NOISES OFF at our local Shakespeare festival & had only know it played in NY first.  Verrrry British, must be why I loved it. :)

Once you hit it, you can't post again until George gets here to memorialize it or it's gone, so post wisely my friend ;)

Wow!

Bridge Collapse in Washington State

No one was killed.

The bridge was built in 1955 and was rated "functionally obsolete" three years ago.

I saw that.  I'm always in semi shock when I read that a truck driver doesn't check the height before driving/crashing into tunnels & bridges.

I must still stay off my feet. Thankfully, I have a good book and DVDs to keep me amused. I actually started celebrating about ten days ago and have a couple things planned for later in the month.

Glad you are enjoying your day even if you have to stay off of your feet, or maybe a forced rest makes for a perfect day ;)

I've seen cat photos for the found, but not sure they have taken any reunion photos of cats.   I've read there were so many displaced animals because many of the owners were at work when the tornado hit

That's really sad.  I'm not sure why I'm reading very little about the pet rescue groups.  I've seen more about the dogs that searched for people.

DR Jane, I have a theory on why you don't see as many cats in the shelters.   Cats tend to stay close to home or to what was home  They are more likely to hunker down and hide but stay close and not respond if they are afraid.  Dogs on the other hand, are more likely to wander, perhaps looking for their masters.  Just a theory.

If you think that people will miss the announcement because they won't be reading Monday, then I can understand delaying a day. But other than that, I would think they'd be more likely to treat themselves to a little something extra on a holiday. IMHO.
