Trying to change my point of view perhaps.I like Newley. He is an acquired taste. I love his Scrooge. Almost as good as mine.

Almost as good as mine.I've always liked him even though I know a lot of people thought of him as hammy and overindulgent. His songs are good and memorable. I think it's fascinating to hear a song writer perform his own song. Newley's version of "Goldfinger" is very Lotte Lenya-esque. While it won't overtake Shirley Bassey's immortal version, it sure is compelling. Would have added a different flavor to the movie.
Thank you TCB for your kindness. I will return tomorrow.I am getting tired and must get some sleep.Have a good night and see you tomorrow.
I've been away from all you DRs for too long. Just wanted to check in and say I'm still battling lymphoma. I have to go for a biopsy next week. My most recent PET scan was clear save for the tonsil area. If all goes well, then I am scheduled for surgery in June to repair my large abdominal hernia. I hope to rejoin the group here more regularly and am sorry I have been errant and truant, but I've had and have lots of worries. I try not to, but go figure, there it is: worry.
In Seattle tonight, there was a case of "road rage" that ended with a one year old baby being shot in the head. The whole thing is just sick!

I'm glad, in certain ways, that it was terrible - she was all over the map, in cutesy land, too big, too loud, and she hadn't really warmed up her voice so even the songs didn't sound good. And she knew it. And the good part is that despite that the show worked rather well I thought. She didn't go as fast as she usually does, but even without blocking and going a bit too fast, the show ran eighty-one minutes - so I do think it will end up being a little over eighty-five minutes, which is just perfect - even if it went to ninety. Those minutes go very quickly.Any chance that we might get to see some rehearsal footage some time?If the composer would agree to it.

Quote from: TCB on April 16, 2015, 10:33:35 PMWhen you say John Adams, you aren't talking the President are you?No. He's a minimalist composer. He wrote the opera "Nixon in China", "On the Transmigration of Souls", "The Century Rolls" and, one of my favorites, "The Chairman Dances." You may have heard "Short Ride in a Fast Machine" which is usually played as an encore.

We may shoot some rehearsal footage next week, just for fun.
