It was 90 degrees here today. Ugh! When I came home the apartment was 87 degrees. I have the AC on high AND the portable fan, and after two hours it's now 86. Tomorrow is forecast to be somewhat cooler. I hope so!

Lordy.  I had an apartment with an AC unit that did about that much good for me.  Said unit should have been taken out back and shot.  I would say your apartment needs a new AC, DR Jeanne.

Are you on the top floor of your building?  That doesn't help any, but a fully functioning AC of sufficient power should be able to counteract it just fine.

My apartment is on the second floor and has a west-facing window in the kitchen. The AC unit is only a few years old. It's a 110 window unit--not central air. It puts out cool air, but only for a few feet in front of it. I usually place the portable fan a few feet away, to try to blow the cool air over to the sofa. Lately, I've changed strategies and place the fan so that it blows right on me. I prefer being on the second floor, but my next digs will probably need to be ground floor. That will at least mean cooler temps inside.

Odd.  Yes indeed, ground floor will always be cooler.  But the AC, if right for the size of the place, should be doing the job in spite of being on the second floor.

The two apartments I lived in on Mentone (in Palms):  both were on the second floor, and the first had a killer AC unit.  Never a problem.  You could hang a side of beef.  Then there was damage to part of the building (long story) and they moved me down the block to another second floor unit, same size, but with an AC that did nothing but make noise.

I also know what you mean about western exposure.  I got really tired of that after living in two or three consecutive places with it.

But the apt. with the bad AC had no strong sunlight exposure to speak of at all.  It was just a bad AC.

I discovered later today that if he had asked  Discover would have frozen his card and he could have just unfrozen it when it was found- but i once it is requested to be cancelled it cannot be uncancelled

I guess you haven't seen their commercials.

What a day you had DR Vixmom.  At least it pretty much ended well.

Does VIxdad have any idea when his wallet went "missing"?

The time I lost my wallet while out of town several years ago, I was with several friends who would be driving back home along with me.

OY!

Listening to more Kenton.  I wouldn't call it relaxing, but it's all good.
