Because my cable box became operational today, I was able to record AMERICAN IDOL on the DVR for replay when I got home from rehearsal.
Not a good night.
The songs had to come from the years 2000-2005, and if these six songs were the choicest from these six years, it's been a lousy decade for music thus far. GOD AWFUL!
Now, Bo and Anthony outsung everyone else tonight. Anythony in particular started his song very softly and sweetly and then gave a rousing vocal finsh to it that was by far the best of the night.
Bo did a genuine rock song that seemed authentic. Constantine also did a rock number that had NO musicality to it at all. I hated it.
Carrie had a very off night, Scott once again relied on weak falsetto for a few notes that broke the spell of the song, and Vonzell was weak in her low register, quavery through the middle, and did messy melisma trying to salvage the performance.
Since I was at rehearsal, I was not able to vote for anyone or call the numbers to see whose line was busy, so tomorrow night's results will be a total surprise for me.
On the basis of effectiveness for my ear, I'd say the bottom three oought to be Carrie, Constantine, and Vonzell, but I suspect it'll be Scott, Anthony, and Vonzell at the bottom.
BTW, Bo got the longest and loudest amount of applause of the night from the audience by far.
