Very rare for snow near where I live Danise - despite being in the hills.  Today's maximum temperature is supposed to be about 55 degrees F. (13 degrees C).
At the moment it is 9.30am approx and the the temperature is about 40 degrees F.

Thanks also to DR Laura.

BTW:  DR Danise - François is not on the board for another two days.

I shall pass on all good vibes to OzDerek. He is back at work today after yesterday's explorative work! (Results next monday).

Humm, so it isn't as cold I thought it might be.  I always wondered.

I'll try to remember to tell DR Francois when he gets back.

Well folks, I know it's very early but I'm still not feeling 100 % .  I need to answer some e-mail so I'd best be off for tonight.

Have a good one!

All the best vibes to OzDerek.

I have done my evening abloutions after a brisk ride on the bike. Today is the longest day of the year. I may venture out when I go off line and walk to the river to watch the sun set. It's only 7:50pm.

Jose, Anthony told me that Nick will be doing The Full Monty after Forum. He didn't say which role Nick will be playing, just that he has another job. Great for Nick. A week from Friday I will be down there for the Fourth of July weekend. I'll see the show on Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon and then we have the rest of the time free until I come back to NYC on Monday afternoon.

That's it for now. I'm making some Cranberry Apple Herbal Iced Tea so while it steeps I think I will head out and celebrate the solstice.

Bye!

There was an interesting wrong answer to the last question in the quiz that involved a star of a show that season who created a role that was played in the movie by another actress who was in another play that year.  The Trip To Bountiful opened with Lillian Gish in the lead.  Earlier in the year, Geraldine Page made her Broadway debute in a play called Mid-Summer.  But it opened in the previous season, and thus didn't qualify as a correct answer.  Also, I guess it's debatable whether Miss Page became a beloved movie star or not.

I mentioned that as an aside in my answer. But went with Sabrina Fair/Sabrina.

At first I thought the play was Witness For the Prosecution. It followed for the directors and the stars, They were both leads and both won tony awards in the same year. It would happen again where a lead who be nominated, but never two from the same year. It started to fall apart when I could only find one actor from the supporting cast who did a tv series from the 60's Gene Lyons who did Ironside.

I believe Nick will be playing Ethan - the one who runs up and into walls - for Gateway.

Hmmm...  Iced Tea sounds good right now.

Could that be the comedy THE GRASS IS GREENER with Robert Mitchum, Cary Grant, Jean Simmons and Deborah Kerr?  I saw it about 100 years ago and remember nothing about it.

Good guess.  Cary Grant dominated the movie.  He was delightful in it.

Jane, the bakery I mentioned last Friday, Mary's Off Jane is directly across the street from Tavern on Jane and just two doors down from Mary's Off Jane is the new location for the frighteningly good Lilac Chocolates. They had been on Christopher off Hudson for years and years but now they just use that space for offices. The new store is big and bright and smells wonderful when you walk in the door. It's a dangerous place to be when you have a craving.

My walk to the river was very nice. I saw the sun set and many other people were out enjoying the pleasant evening. There was a soft breeze off the water and walkways and grass were full of people laying about or sitting on benches. A very good way to end the day.

I am now home and I have put the tea in the refrigerator to chill so it will be ready for tomorrow's lunch. The greenmarket is open at Union Square tomorrow so I can come home with all sorts of good things to eat and food for the rest of the week. Green beans, Boston lettuce, pastry from Baker's Bounty, a small quiche perhaps and some rugelach (they make GREAT rugelach). A few apples and some strawberries. The blueberries may be ready also. Ummm, my mouth is watering.

While I won't refute the possibility of your having seen something 100 years ago, I will say that "The Grass is Greener" was considerably later than that...1960, I believe.

And you don't remember much because it didn't offer much to remember.  Grant and Kerr were married and landed gentry and all that sort of thing, dontchaknow...Jean Simmons was wasted as friend of the family, and Robert Mitchum, bless his heart, was only marginally convincing (to me) as a possible lover for Kerr (the same Kerr I had adored as Mrs. Anna and  Sister Angela and Terry McKay, the cabaret singer who was crippled because she was "looking up...").  I just couldn't imagine her preferring Mitchum over Grant.

The worst part about it, though, is that this was a Stanley Donen film.  I can only imagine he did it to satisfy the terms of some contractual agreement.

By the way, for those of you for whom it may not be too late, I have heard recently that people who drink daily portions of fruit juice are less likely to get Alzheimer's than those who don't.

I don't remember where I heard it, of course, but take it for what it's worth.

LOL.  I think it might be too late for me.

I never did understand the idea that Mitchum could suddenly sweep Kerr off her feet.  Not only was Grant very appealing in the movie, his character was a nice guy while Mitchum, IMHO, was truly lacking on both counts.

I am listening to my new favorite singer...DR Elmore3003's best friend Ron Raines' CD BROADWAY PASSION.

What a wonderful baritone voice this man has...reminds me very much of Howard Keel.

I have now listened to the CD 5 times in a row.

Once we get a new kitchen and a new CD player I must remember to get this.  Since I can't drink much fruit juice will you remind me?

I also like The Nun's Story.  I think I told you that when I was a very little girl I wanted to be a Nun when I grew up.  I didn't understand what it meant.  I just liked the outfit.  I still think the habit and veil are kinda neat.

First time I saw a nun I started crying she was a witch and didn't want to get on the bus with her. ;D  Fortunately for all nuns she was very, very nice about it and won me over.  Hey what did a little Jewish girl know about nuns anyway.  I did after that and was full of questions.

One very happy re-discovery was noticing that Mothers Macaroons had reopened!  What a great bakery, and great macaroons, what else?!?!?  Lots of different flavors, plus other baked goods (cookies, cakes, pastries, etc.).  The last time I had driven by, I had notice that another business had taken it's place... Ah, well.  But when I headed in today, I asked the clerk if the store had closed down for a while.  She that they owner did close up shop for a while to take care of some family business, but she reopened a couple of months ago.  :)

*When I worked at Foxes Music, instead of bringing in donuts on Saturday mornings, we would bring in Mothers Macaroons.  And it was a shock to see it had closed up since I've always thought the place was very buy and doing great business.  Very nice to see she's back.

-Alas, I did not buy any macaroons today, but the week is still young.

:)

Do they have almond macaroons?  I never see them anymore. :'(

Well I just finished watching the original "unaired" (as it said on the DVD) menu. Not true because I remember watching it.

I have to say and just not because BK was in it, but the original is a lot better than the series with Lisa Hartman. I watched a few of them a did not crack a laugh.

The original pilot at least had a writer who was involved in the series Ed Jurist and Bill Asher produced and directed it. When the Hartman series came around they were gone.

They only thing BK version got wrong was the spelling of the main character.

Her name is Tabitha with a middle i and not an a.

And an interesting blooper.

There were no special titles filmed for the main title. The footage behind the main title actually comes later in the show. Where Tabitha and boyfriend catch a trolly car. By the time BK's credit comes on Tabatha is coming out of her apartment. She sees that she missed the trolly that she is already on and grabs a cab

Not what is also interesting the taxi driver has a hat and glasses and looks like credited guest star Arnold Soboloff. This was shot on location in San Francisco.

Yes, they do.  One of my favorites!  Or are you looking for the macaroons that are made with ground almonds as opposed to shredded coconut?

The macaroons at Mothers Macaroon are all the coconut kind.  Plain, Chocolate Dipped, Almond, Chocolate Dipped Almond, Orange, Chocolate Dipped Orange, Pineapple, Chocolate Chip, White Chocolate Dipped...

If you're speaking of the Almond Macaroons, the Heidelberg Pastry Shoppe I mentioned earlier makes wonderful ones.  A little larger than a quarter in size - such a wonderful taste in a bite-size cookie.  They also make macaroons with ground hazelnuts.  Very good too.

-Shall I send you some?

In the Lisa Hartman series. Adam is now the older brother and is a mortal. Playing the Darrin mode which doesn't really work. I think BK being the younger brother and being a warlock worked better.

But I think the reason why both versions failed is that in realty Tabitha was only  10 years old and they had aged her. Adam was only 8 years old. Bewitched had been off the air in first run for only 4 years and perhaps was too soon for it too succeed or the fantasy show were passe. With comedy shows like MASH, All in the Family, Mary Tyler Moore and Bob Newhart Shows, Maude and others from the MTM and Norman Lear factory in the top ten there was no place for it. ABC was still the 3rd network at the time. Happy Days and Laverne and Shirley weren't hits yet.

One more question for the LA people. Does the Burbank Studios have a backlot that looks like San Francisco. The final credit says it was filmed there. And does the television code still exist?

Why would they even do it this way?  How could they think that anyone would accept that Adam is older?  Did they try to explain it?  I remember the series with Lisa Hartman and that Bernard Fox was on it, but I don't remember the details. :-\
