The day the terrorists attacks hit London, I was there, as you all know because I've posted about it. But my mom got several calls and emails about my whereabouts that day as a lot of people knew I was planning on going.

It seems like for the last few months, I've been writing lyrics to "Five Foot Two, Eyes of Blue (Has Anybody Seen My Gal) ... and I recently recieved an email and the subject title was "Has anybody seen...." - it was from a friend of mine whom I wrote a song about her using that same song. "Has anybody seen Ms. Howe" - so I was inspired to do the following (my last name is Mattei (mat-tay) just so you know as I use it quite a lot.

Matt’s Journey to London

(sung by Matt’s Mom to the tune of “Has Anybody Seen My Gal”)

Have you seen the news today
Terrorists down London way
Has anybody seen Mat-tei?

Paris first, did he say?
Was it London or Bombay

That's Bobby Sherman alright, although for some reason Perry Como had the Top 40 hit of that song. If you like a good simple pop tune, Bobby Sherman's LPs are chock-full of 'em.

There are so many great Western movie scores: Magnificent Seven, Big Country, The Bravados, Ride the High Country, Rozsa's Tribute To A Bad Man...

Western songs from movies: Gunfight at OK Corral; River of No Return (The Sons of the Pioneers have a great version of this); The Hanging Tree (by Marty Robbins), Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (never used in the movie); 3:10 To Yuma

TV Theme: I always like The Rebel Johnny Yuma and the Theme to Jim Bowie. Paladin is still pretty catchy.

Correction: I have a song on a CD by Johnny Cash called The Rebel Johhny Yuma. It is NOT, however, the theme I remember from the TV show which went: "Johnny Yuma was a rebel..."

Wild Wild West's film score is awful, and what makes it worse is it's by Elmer Bernstein (IIRC). There is virtually no use of the classic tv theme. For a while I thought it was a licensing issue, but about 3/4 of the way through the film, there's a brief quote of the theme.

Bobby Sherman's albums are great pop fluff. Bobby did a personal appearance at the downtown Seattle Sears store my Dad managed (it no longer exists

) and my Dad brought me home a copy of a promo 45 of "Easy Come, Easy Go." Years later it turned out that DS Betsy had IVd Bobby (who was then, IIRC, a paramedic) when he came to Chicago and did a guest spot on her radio show. She loved, loved, loved him.

Scary stalker department: I have a stalker. No joke. It's very scary and I think we're going to have to call the police. Vibes, please.

Back from finishing the galley - I'm sure there's still a bad break or two, but I'm so done proofing this thing. Every book these days has much worse, so I'm just moving on. PDF of the galley has been sent to the publisher.

Tape hunt was a bust. Deciding whether to go to storage after I eat lunch, or tomorrow morning.

This one was coined years ago by Rich Hall as a Sniglet. Back then, it was the measure of the amount of time between when you slam the car door shut and when you realize you left the keys in the ignition.

And I'll be E&T for quite a LONG bit tomorrow. Tomorrow is my friend Jeff's day off, and we'll be unloading that pod we packed up eight months ago and taking its contents into his new condo. Not looking forward to the work in the hot sun (it was cool fall when we packed it up before), but at least it will be over and done with after a few more days. He has until Tuesday of next week to get it totally unloaded. Then, the company comes and picks it up.

Thanks, all. Yes, it's a very bizarre story. I don't want to say too much lest it be read here by interloping eyes, but suffice it to say you need to be very careful when you subscribe to any listserv or internet group. You never know who's on the "other end" (or off the deep end, as the case may be). We have dutifully recorded the many phone numbers this weirdo is calling from and will report them if we receive any more.
